Install Global Dev on Global MI 8 - Help - Xiaomi Mi 8 Questions & Answers

Hi Gals & Guys,
I have tried to google, but did not find a solution. Maybe I am just missing something.
My MI8 ist the Global Version and I am ofered to download the Stable or the Developer ROM (https://en.miui.com/download-346.html)
But when I download the Dev ROM, it won't install, it says "Wrong Version".
I am on stable 10.0.3.0 at the moment and I am trying to do it the Updater way, just as suggested by the instruction on the rom page.
What am I doing wrong?
Greetz
nature

Download this version:
http://bigota.d.miui.com/8.9.7/miui_MI8Global_8.9.7_fb7963a71d_8.1.zip
Copy to your phone and install, after that, you will get OTA to the latest developer MIUI 10 Global 8.11.8 Beta version

Thanks! Now I know why it did not work. I had that download but then canceled the update after decrypting, that rendered the file useless. I just had to download it again and put it on the phone again....

Hi, any feedback on the global dev ROM? Trying to decide to move to that or not.
Thanks

Somwhere I read, that I don't lose date going this way and if I don't unlock the bootloader.
Is that true?
Did you loose your data or not?

Wow, very nice man. Really helpfull.
Could you the add the option to flash another stock rom? One from Europe, for example?
In any case, good work.
where's the download link?
Great tool, would it be better to take the stock retail us firmware out and people can add there own region firmware to it, and you can upload a smaller tool then.

P8Lite 6.0 ALE-L21 (B133) EU single sim

Hi guys & gals, rang up huawei about my version of the p8lite (single sim EU version) to find out when there's going to be an OTA for 6.0. They told me it was coming weeks ago but still no luck. So I was wondering if there's a flash rom of 6.0 bespoke for my version (not beta)??
Thanks.
NO HELP?

You wanna go to android 6 not beta B535 but official single sim B551

First off all
You have to put the UPDATE.APP in a folder called dload. but that is something you almready know by now
Second use this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/mega-thread-root-unbricking-updating-t3400994 (again) to downgrade your phone by using these chapter : Chapter 1, chapter 2, chapter 4 (only single sim files) use the chapters in these order please.
if that's done you should be able to upgrade by following chapter 6
This thread has been tested over and over again en works fine as long as you do wath it says. if you don't know a thing or you have doubts... please leave a message and i will help you as soon as i can. Don't do anything you might think is right because it's probaly not. but you should'nt have to much probs. everything is explained as if you would explaine it to a 3 year old

Put that update.app in a folder named dload and place it im your root directory (the one you see when you open your internal memory using file manager) and upgrade it

Ok guys, rookie question. I can only install this by flashing it right? Because i tried to put the UPDATE.APP file into the dload, the usual stuff you do for an update rom in this phone, and when it was updating, it said the version was incopatible. I'm having some problems unlocking. If I go to the site above and click on "Unlock Now" it takes me to a Chinese site which I can't navigate.
If I use the miflash_unlock.exe I get part of the way through and it says:
Can't unlock. Your account isn't associated with a phone number
I've googled it and some advice is to go to your account, but once again I'm redirected to a Chinese site.
Has anyone got round this?

You certainly have an option to change language on site to English, search at bottom.
Yes I tried that, but it came up with a script error for any language. It seems to be working now though. I had to log into my account and add a recovery phone number. Then turn off wifi and enable mobile data and go into developer options/mi unlock status, add account, receive a text and eventually was asked to wait for 360 days while they harvest my data lol.
I requested an unlock from motorola and they emailed it the next day!
Just 15 days to go....
Thanks

China or Global is the same, unlocking bootloader will have waiting time.
Locking it is easy, but unlocking it again also still need waiting time.

Can I assume that I would get L1 widevine support with the global rom?
Hello. If you got a china version and you unlock bootloader to install glogal rom, you cant lock again the bootloader. If you do you will get a brick.
Global version is not affected by this. You can unlock and lock it again has you pleased.
Widevine support is supported by hardware not software. As far as i know Mi9 as L1 support.

Miui 9.6.5 for MI A1

Hi
Installation:
✓Wipe Data / System / Art / Dalvik
✓Set firmware
If necessary, we flash userdata
✓Reboot, give time for initial setup.
We gain patience, the setting takes about 15-25 minutes.
✓After initial setup, restart again. it may seem that the system is slow
Enjoy!
xiaomi.eu_multi_tissot_9.6.5:
https://cloud.mail.ru/public/WSgj/5Dod7fgVZ
I found this ROM on the net, and it is originally developed by "Ukrai_ne" for A1.
It seems he is Russian and so I couldn't contact him.
I put the explanations and the rom here, hope somebody contact him and ask him for a thread in XDA so everyone can use it.

I have tested it, its working, no problem.
You can install it by regular steps of downgrading to 8.1 stock rom (if you have 9v rom) and installing miui roms.
Best wishes

For me it works without user data
I said this ROM is not mine, and there is links to the source of developer in the first post.
It would be great if someone could ask him to join in XDA and start a thread.

You can not use the firmware from Android 9, since this firmware is based on 8.1 https://drive.google.com/uc?authuser=0&id=12m7mehiNpf0Ez2xeWXp2RifupJvjXD_o&export=download

The only firmware that I could get to work for me is the latest firmware. Everything works fine besides Fingerprint sensor but I'm not sure that that is the firmwares fault.
