App's notification error? - Xiaomi Mi 8 SE Questions & Answers

I'm using MIUI10 China ROM 10.0.1.0.
Im having trouble with getting notifications, I'm never getting notifications from fb, mess.... I have to open the app to look for new messages etc.
I have tried a dozen guides. None of them have helped me.
Autostart enabling, battery restrictions set to no restriction, miui optimization turned of.
Never had this issue with my mi4, RMN4X....
Is this an issue with the miui? Or???
Hope somebody can help me!

Had the same problem, fixed it this way:
1. Settings
2. Developer Options
3. At the bottom turn Miui optimization off
Or install xiaomi.eu rom in twrp fixed this as well.

[Q] The Lag of Facebook app Saga

People, I don't know what to do. I really want to use Facebook's app in my P880, but it cause too much lag over all other applications and resources. Sometimes I need to wait 30s to use my phone, mainly when a turn data or wi-fi on. When this app isn't installed I have a normal experience.
I just tried:
- Stock Rom, CM11 Rom, Euphoria OS;
- Stock Kernel, Iodak Kernel;
- Best Facebook clients are not updating since 2013;
- Facebook on browser, are fast but can't open images entire screen and can't provide notifications;
- Change options in app;
- Change Performance options of each ROM.
Please, if someone had sucess to run the app without this mad lag share with us.
Tried the "simple facebook" app?

I used to untick all autoruns of the APP using 3c toolbox.This reduces it's effect on general system performance but there are still a few services of it running, you have to turn them off at every boot.
Still, the facebook is badly coded/optimized and I prefer to use my web browser to browse facebook since I get notifications with SMS anyway.
Facebook app is among the worst ever Android apps made. As you too noticed, mainly on network change, it gets insanely laggy. It just isn't worth using.
Thank you, guys!

Nice app, i didn't know. There are too many options that I need a master degree to understand all. =), but I'm trying that carefully. Meanwhile I just made my phone even worst, but with the last config a little bit better.

Sad, but true! I can't understand what they want with this. My wife's Samsung S4 can run it, just with small lags inside app, but it is another class of phone.

Some apps keep getting killed (or restarted) in the background

Op3T, stock. Android 8.0.0/Oxygen OS 5.0.6
I have a couple of apps that I need to be running all the time. Namely an app from my Insurance co that monitors driving and a Cisco Jabber app (chat). What keeps happening, is that the apps keep getting killed or restarted when they are in the background. Happens anywhere between 20 and 40 (or sometimes more) minutes.
Advanced optimization is off and both apps are set to "don't optimize" in battery options. Other things run in the background just fine - Gmail, WhatsApp, Messenger, Outlook, etc. all get notifications.
Is there another setting, besides optimization, that controls this?
On OxygenOS you can try the padlock icon on recent apps menu
Thanks. I thought that icon was to lock the screen to specific app. Will try and see what happens.

That's the one thing i miss from OOS (Nougat). That padlock really kept things in Recents, and probably memory too. I've not found it useful at all on Oreo custom ROMs. It doesn't seem to do anything at all!

Yeah, me too, it is most probably not implemented. I tried several things to make some apps stay in memory, but unfortunately I can't get it to work. On OOS I could lock i.e. Dialer in memory and repoen it 2 days later without reloading. No custom ROM can do this.
It seems that it doesn't want to work on OOS Oreo, too. I try to keep 7-10 apps always alive in background and some of them stay in memory, but these most important (Dialer, Contacts) won't. I don't know what happens, but I'm really considering downgrading to Nougat. Why do we have 6 GB RAM if we can't even properly utilize it?

Question Deep Sleep?

I am using the version MIUI 12.6 by xiaomi.eu 21.4.14 beta. However, the problem also affects all previous versions.
Description of the problem: Although I have activated the popup notifications in the "Autostart" and "Rights assignment" settings for all messengers and email apps, I do not receive any popups and I do not receive anything about the sounds either.
Problem occurs when the display is switched off and not switched off.
If I have just opened any messenger, I will receive the notifications.
Does anyone already know a solution for the problem?
Same version, but no problem here.
Maybe some setting or apk what is causing this?

I've already reinstalled from scratch. I have already reset all previously made settings. Are you using a different launcher?
Yes Nova launcher
Mi Launcher looks like it sucks

Question Notification doesn't show for certain apps

Recently purchased a mi 11 ultra, and I immediately noticed a few problems with it. Namely, the notifications seemed to be simply not working for some apps. Chinese apps like Wechat still work fine, but "western" apps such as discord and reddit simply do not show any notification at all. I tried some simple troubleshooting, and I enabled autostart, checked all the notifications in the settings, and even disabled miui battery saving options, but to no avail, still discord and reddit was silent. I'm trying my best to avoid a factory reset, so I would appreciate any help I can get. For reference, I am currently using miui 12.5.4, and a chinese rom of the system.
Hi I had a similar problem, notably with Acalendar, my favourite calendar app. Furnishing the app with every permission, autostart and as much battery as it likes did not help.
In Acalendar, there is a notification test option. This did not work and I got an error message that the notification was blocked, but Acalendar did not know why which didn't help much.
In Acalendar, there's and option in setiings/notifications called Sticky Date. I read this was a fix for some Huwaei phones, turned it on and now notificatons work.
I'm not sure I understand why this works, but hope it helps a little.
Cheers
Steve
ps I'm on 12.5.4 China Stable too

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately I don't see an option for "sticky dates" for apps such as discord or reddit. On the topic of using chinese rom, do you have a solution for changing the app search bar to change search engines? it seems to only have tou tiao, baidu search and sogou as options by default, and I would be delighted to know if there's a way to change it.
Hi yes I realise the advice was for Acalendar only - sorry it didn't help more. I've updated to EU weekly now, so can't check any Chinese ROM features.
Cheers

hello all
Someone was able to resolve the issue with standby notifications? (
It's because of battery optimization, just turn it off for the app that has the problem. If you don't see that setting, try the app 'Hidden Settings for MIUI' from the play store. Make sure the app is allowed to run in background as well.

No calendar notifications on lock screen since update to LineageOS 19.1

Hello
Since updating to LineageOS 19.1 I no longer receive notifications from the calendar app. The notification only appears after I open the calendar app. Does anyone know the problem and can help me solve it?
Many thanks
Found this thread, says apps such as cleaner master can cause such an issue.

I have the same problem. One thing to try is long press on the calendar app and tap the "i" to see the app info. Make sure that alarms are allowed (at the bottom) and also try changing Battery to "unrestricted".
I have the same problem in a Pixel 4a (sunfish). I was going to open an issue at Gitlab, but haven't been able to narrow the focus. Last week I got a notification (right on time), while I was on a phone call. However, I can't figure out when it works (almost never), or why.
As you said, sometimes I get old notifications (24+ hrs old) while working on the calendar app.
There's another issue with Calendar. It crashes when you try 'search'. I saw this on Gitlab. That can be fixed by installing the FDroid version of Etar 1.0.30. However, notifications aren't fixed by using that version. I tried.
I just changed Battery from 'Optimized' to 'Unrestricted'. I don't have much hope, though.
I'll post if that helps.

Changing battery to "Unrestricted" made the difference for me. I've not missed a calendar notification since the change. Thanks for this.
However, is this a bug? Should it work with battery 'Optimized'?
BTW, you might consider having this discussion within the official LOS19 thread.

Yes, this method seems to be working for me as well. May be good to mention it in the LOS19 thread. It is sort of a bug in design if anything. Since the calendar app may not be accessed much or have constant reminders, it might not be given high priority in the optimization.
Thank you for that information. Will try that with changing battery to "Unrestricted".
Thank you! Everything now works perfectly!
