Help Building Oreo Custom Rom for A6 Plus 2018 ( A605FN ) !!! - Samsung Galaxy A6 Questions & Answers

Hello guys. I'm trying to build custom rom based on stock rom using assayed kitchen. i prepared the files of stock firmware so they can be readed from kitchen. everything looks good but i have only one problem.
the app extracts the files, but i get the error FAILED TO GET [file_contexts]... I found file_contexts.bin into the fota.zip archive. but i dont know how to convert it to file_contexts text and then where to place it so the app can read it.
can anyone with more knowledge help with this?? thank you in advance!!

I can provide you with the tool to convert it, however SuperR kitchen can already do this.

That would be wonderful. I will try the same procedure with SuperR!

Then all I can suggest is this for Linux. I don't do much of this stuff on Windows.

You can run Linux in a VM such as VIRTUAL BOX or VMWARE.
You could also use WSL, but personally have never used it.

Prebuilt VM images can be found below:

i also have a plan to make custom and also my first mod deal with oreo, deodexed already booted and so far so good. the only problem is really laggy at the begining but more u use/open apps, restart and so on..the lag become decrease and now "almost" as normal/odexed speed..
for making custom rom i gez no different with previous android..find the right tool to deodex, then edit desired apk with desired mod then pack it

I was trying to build also a custom ROM with Assayed Kitchen , but same problem with context bin file .
Even with the stock firmware , with TWRP installed and rooted with magisk 18.0 , the first 3 or 4 boot takes longer , but i think there is something inside the new Oreo firmware which recognize that you delete some applications , and after few reboots , the phone is very fast and battery keeps more than 40-46 hours ... which for me it is a very satisfied,
I used Assayed Kitchen for SM-J730GM... SM-T585 ..SM-T560...SM-G900F ...SM-J710FN , and made for myself very fast and battery friendly ROM"S , but i will keep digging to find a way to build one for SM-A605FN ...
I will let you know if i will find something new .
And if you are willing to try a modified mixer_paths.xml in order to have a very nice and loud sound on speakers and Bluetooth i will attached for you .
You need to added in " / vendor / etc " folder and give 644 permission .
Please let me know your opinion , so maybe we can share it after !!!:good::good::good:

Every time i make a custom rom and i deodex it,it says already deodexed next to each file. I wonder why?
I believe now we need someone to make a custom kernel with tweeks for battery and performance. 3500 battery and we could make it last much longer. I believe this is a must right now.

I copyied your file to the directory you mentioned. There was already a file with the same name there. I suppose yours has some changes though i didn't notice anything in the sound. After the restart google services show error once in a while.... then i installed viper4android fx from magics modules. After restart my sim signal was lost. V4a showed at apps.i can open it but the driver wont work.i removed it and sim signal came back!! So we still need to make some tests till we find a working v4a....

I was wondering why you got the google service error and viper , so i doubled verify and the file should be in "/vendor/ etc" not in "/system/ / vendor / etc " . And i did modify very carefully each value from original 84 value to 90 in most cases and from 81 to 85 in some headphone values ...
I really apologize for the mistake i did regarding the place of the file where to add it .
You can try again to see if you see any difference .
You have attached some pictures about the place and modifications ..

Need help deodexing my custom ROM

Hi Xda-people,
After succes building a rom for the vodafone 845 I now want to deodex the rom. I have already tried the THEME-PRO v2.9 (no error on deodexing) after flashing only getting a bootloop. I olso tried another deodexing kitchen but that got stuck on bleutooth.odex and another couple apk's and odex files.
Could someone please help me out here?
Thanx in advance
So its a stock android rom ? Try the deodex script link in my signature.
Also for bluetooth u need to add javax.obex.jar to ur classpath.

i have tried your script and got stuck on a couple of apk's + odex files that could'nt be deodexed.. could you also explain what you mean with add javax-obex.jar to ur classpath? I'm complete new to the rombuild scene..
it's based on a stock rom, i have added some features and delete some standaard apps..

Ok once its done deodexing, u'll have a couple of apks left that couldn't be deodexed. If its bluetooth.apk, select option 2 (custom classpath) and type javax.obex.jar
Most of the time the error u get when deodexing should tell u wht apk it needs in its classpath.
But when i use your script i don't see the errors because it's continue's to the next apk.. or framework. this rom also has 2 framework apks does that matter?

Type "adb logcat" in command prompt.
Oke tried it but logcat is disabled on my rom.. I used the commands in recovery
echo 1 > /sys/kernel/logger/log_main/enable // ** '1' is enable log_main,
echo 2 >/sys/kernel/logger/log_main/priority // ** '2' is the log level, you can get the level number from the android source code.
but that apparently has no effect for the rom.. I think something went wrong while deodexing.. any tips how to enable the logcat?
tried deodexing it again with the 2 yar files.. it's not only phone that fc also setup fc.. trying to find out how to add catlog to my rom so i can check it..

certainly can
I've instaled and tried to run android kitchen.... All that I get are minor tweak for the stock ROM...
as we know, one of the annoying part of B's stock ROM is suck memory management, can we optimized it from android kitchen?
yes you can, just google it or read kitchen faq
I've tried to use android kitchen and after explore it's feature, the only thing that i can do for performance tweak is zipalign... Am I right?
Have you build the ROM and flash it on your device?

I`ve modified the stock ROM with some of the tweaks from android kitchen (e.g. added full root, zipaling, bootanimation...). when I cooked the ROM it asked me if I want to sing the ROM and I said yes. when tried to flash the ROM to phone it`s starting but at some point it encounters an error. nothing happens though because after reset it boots to normal ROM.

edit :
i think this is what was happened to your ROM
QUESTION: I have converted my update-script to an updater-script, but after flashing I still have the original ROM on the device.
That means your updater-script did not have the proper mount points defined for the system (and/or data) partition. Refer to this post for more info. EDIT: You can now add your own mount-point definition file to the kitchen's "tools/edify_defs/" folder for when it creates the updater-script for your device.

Yeah, I did...I`ve tried today one more time and this is what I got:
Installing /sdcard/LG_OB_1.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
assert failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img","boot")
E:Error in /sdcard/LG_OB_1.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted
I don't really understand what the different between update and updater script.. but what I get is maybe you shouldn't use the updater script since it was not supported.by cwm.. maybe someone can confirm it?

Hy,
Thanks for the rom !!
Can't flash with mobile odin pro ?
Ok all users please remove the DarkyOTA test app that you have currently in your system with some file browser or adb or whatever and download the DarkyOTA app from the market.
I have just made the first theme flashable via OTA.
So first up in the Visuals section of the OTA tab in the DarkyOTA app is the stock Samsung theme.
Please search under OTA/Updates for the text cleaner zip before you use the stock theme.
More Themes to come soon !!

Hello DarkyFellows
Would anyone be so kind to tell me how to restore Swype?
Although I tried installing the beta version available on the Swype website it doesn't look as before... It has some horrible "theme" and keys with such s ridiculously small size they become unusable.
I actually saw some reference to it in DarkyOTA's DarkyROM section [new, updated one as suggested] but I just couldn't figure out what it was for or how to use it.

use sg2toext4.jar to convert the .img file to ext4(generally factory.img contains the framework and app) and then use the disk linux reader tool and mount the img file which you converted using the sg2toext4. Once it is mounted, then you can double click on mounted icon and then select save to folder.
another solution is to use dsixda kitchen to extract the files!
sorry m8, i did not downloaded this ROM, hence i cant upload, but that is the procedure to be adopted.

This sounds like a good ROM. I was able to download a ROM called HRT_P7_L05L07_V2.0 from here: http://www.muzisoft.com/huawei/p7t/. I'm still playing with it. It seems to have stripped out a lot of the stock apps to free up storage.
Some tweaks have been added to the power off menu and there are some others too. They are all in Chinese so I'm a bit lost with them. Set_immutable has been set to 0 in the boot image so you can write to system the set_immutable.list file is still present. There's a new boot animation, platform.xml has been changed to allow apps to write to ext SD card. If you use google translate on the site you can see a list of the changes made.

I finally managed to download the ROM from Baidu. It took me more than 4 hours!!! I haven't tried it yet.
However, I've established an account with 4shared and have uploaded both ROMs to that site. I've never used 4share before so it's possible I've fouled up somewhere. If you strike problems, let me know and I'll see what I can do to fix things. These are the links:
https://www.4shared.com/zip/cpGySD9qce/HRT_P7_L05L07_V20.html
https://www.4shared.com/zip/KlUHlTVice/P7-L07-L05_B122_lishuo.html

I finally managed to download the ROM from Baidu. It took me more than 4 hours!!! I haven't tried it yet.
However, I've established an account with 4shared and have uploaded both ROMs to that site. I've never used 4share before so it's possible I've fouled up somewhere. If you strike problems, let me know and I'll see what I can do to fix things. These are the links:

Hmmm. Yes well, I tried to download from this site as well. But speed dropped to less than 20Kb/sec and eventually dropped out after about 300mb.

I'm pleased you like the ROM but I've found the other is preferable. Mainly because the extra settings in the P7-L07-L05 ROM (under settings) are all in Chinese. I can't read them and have no idea what they do. Both ROMs have additional Chinese apps which need removing. I agree though, they both seem to be stable. One big advantage to the P7-L07-L05 ROM is that the set_immutable binary contained in the boot image has been set to 0 thus allowing system access. I expect this boot image could be used with other ROMs which would solve a few problems.
It seems that if ROMs designed for the L07 variant work on the L10 then any L10 custom ROMs that emerge will probably work on the L07. It's nice to have the flexibility.
The custom P7-L07 ROM that you found hasn't really added all that much. The rebooter App is useful but there are similar ones on the Play store. I think "Mi-POP" and "Clean Master" (the only English language ones) are both a waste of time. Especially the latter which gives the impression of doing a lot but in fact does little or nothing other than to encourage the end user to pay for an upgrade.
Still, both ROMs are fun to play with and if anyone is interested in building their own, they probably both provide a good basis for learning and further customisation.
Did somone test xposed framework on this rom?

Sorry for a noob question bit is it to make the system deodex from odex ???
deodex => more mods.......
Xposed work on this version ?
Rom development
For use by developers
only for dev`s ..... why?
Can we normal users flash it?
Odex =real more battery friendly and more powerful.
The p8 firmware have only 50 on 140 apps odex .
Deodex is only useful for modding , because it's hard to recompile the modify app after modded it because of the .dex file's.
On a Samsung firmware really all the app was odex (few are not)
If you really want to know about it you have to understand what is really the difference between odex and deodex and how the arm system works.
Google can help to learn
It's can be great but since I have the p8 lite, I never have see a real dev.
No thread's about developing, I mean custom rom, custom kernels.
Are superSU & xposed working with this ROM?
All works exactly like on the deodex, I mean for apps
Of course Xposed works on deodex

is shame we did not develop this device ...
It's not a criticism, only a report.
The Android development thread's here on xda didn't have any thread's only the open post about rules.
See on the Samsung thread's you see what I mean .
I know low device's have not more devs like expensive device's
Also this p8 lite was a great tool.
(I have buy it for have again a second device's but I really appreciate this powerful device's )
I want to know more the huwaei device's
My daily use was the note 4

I always recommend a full wipe, which means losing all your data so back that **** up before doing this
SU tutorial can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/tutorial-root-emui-4-0-android-6-0-t3307991
