How to turn off fullscreen apps? - Samsung Galaxy A6 Questions & Answers

Hello,
I really like the Galaxy A6 Plus. The biggest problem for me though are those "fullscreen apps". For some reason Apps are "optimized" to use in fullscreen and there is no way to turn it off. At least not that I know of.
The problem with that is of course some apps look blurry or don't work the right way.
Is there a way to turn it off?

Accelerometer problem, turn it off?

My accelerometer sensor has lost its cool. It basically goes in circles no matter what way the phone is turning. This becomes a problem because some apps use the sensor for orientation without having an option to turn it off. So my question is; is there any way to simply turn the sensor off, or disable its output? Just somehow make the OS not listen to it at all.
You can turn off screen rotation in the display settings, might help?
I've done that and it works for most things. But some apps disregard that setting and use the sensor for screen orientation anyway :-\ Thanks though.
There is a widget by Curvefish called autorotate onoff. You could try that, but it may not do any more than the manual disable did.
The MIUI rom has an option for auto rotation in its notification pulldown. I just turned it off and it keeps the portrait view through the OS and 3rd party apps. Might be worth a look.
Ooh thanks I'll try that!

App that Stops Home Screen Auto Rotation

Does anyone know of an application in which you can disable Auto-Rotation on just the Home Screen instead of disabling it altogether?
It disables the Auto-Rotation in all of your programs if you disable it in settings. This gets annoying if you go into your gallery.
Maybe there is a program that can change the auto rotation properties of specific apps.
Thanks for your help guys.

depends on what launcher you are using....what launcher are you using?
Beautiful widgets has a toggle widget for disabling/enabling auto rotation. But I'm pretty sure there's no app to apply rotation restrictions to specific apps. But search google and see if you can find anything. It also does depend on the launcher in some cases. Are you rooted, running 2.1/2.2/2.2.1 roms or anything?
This would be a great idea for someone to make into an app if it doesn't exist. I too would like to disable home screen rotation, but still be able to use the landscape keyboard and such in other apps without having to change the settings.
if you use a different launcher like launcher pro or adw, those settings are available to you. if you use froyo or gingerbread launcher, it doesnt rotate.
I guess I didn't make myself clear enough. I run the stock 2.2 launcher and I prefer it over LP and ADW. I know I am able to completely turn Auto-Rotate on or off, but I would just need it off for the home screen (maybe the browser and messaging too). It gets annoying turning it off and going into the gallery and not being able to view in landscape mode. I also don't want to have to continuously be toggling a widget or going into my settings. I'm rooted, and I assume such a program would require full permissions.
I guess it hasn't been made yet.

stock 2.2 launcher? like the froyo launcher? or touchwiz?
We are in the Captivate thread, so... Touchwiz. It's the "stock" launcher of the Captivate.
Not that your question needed to be answered because it doesn't have any relation about what this thread is about.
If you're running 2.2, the pulldown menu at the top should have the auto rotation toggle in it. It's really not that much of a hassle. Swipe down. Disable. Swipe the menu closed. Carry on about your business. If there's an app or one gets created, it's always going to be running in the background no matter if you have the "disable app" to work with one app or forty apps, and it's just gonna be lurking there in the bushes, getting ready to take your battery from behind with no lube. No lube at all.

wow. i apologize for trying to understand what you are running....you know, since 'STOCK' means different things around here....and it absolutely pertains to what this thread is about
carry on. sorry to be of some major burden to you....
Honestly, "stock" does have about 6 or 7 different meanings and implementations around here.
I dont know what you are necesarily refering to here, but what I would like is a widget or icon that I can put on my homescreen that would allow me to just move from auto sensor to portrait only for my homescreen, not the whole system. I know that it can be enabled through most launcher settings, like LP and ADW and GO Launcher, but if there were to be a shortcut to toggling this it would be awesome
Word to the wise. When asking other people a question you really want the answer to, don't act like an arrogant sob. Be it one sentence or an entire explanation. There taking time out to help you. Take me for instance. I was going to dig pretty hard for a solution to this partly for you and partly for a friend that likes stock over lp. But after reading all your posts you just come off as an obnoxious brat. Of the two of you Im only going to give the solution i find (if any) to one of you. Take a wild guess at who won't get it.
All I was getting at is he's asking these questions when I was just wondering if there was an app that would stop the home screen from auto rotating but leave everything else defaulting.
It's a simple question. It has nothing to do with running a different launcher, I already know LP and ADW do such a thing, but I don't want to use them. That's why I was asking.
I wasn't asking for a launcher, I was asking for a background app like "Keep the Lights on" or "Set CPU."
I'm sorry for coming off as "arrogant" or a "snob" but he's digging too deep, asking questions he doesn't need the answer to. As well, his questions came off kind of rude to me. That's probably why I responded the way I did.
Anyways: Simple app that stops home screen rotation.
Smart Rotator (SmartDog Studio HK) and Smart Auto-Rotate (Asteri Software) are possible solutions.
Enough of the Off Topic posts and rudeness, I will not tolerate it.
Also to solve the problem, not sure if this is available on the Captivate, there is an extra button you can enable in the Power Control widget that allows you to lock the screen vertically.

Ultra Power Saving Issue when toggling off phone reverts back erases home screen apps

Hey guys I don't know if you all have ran into this issue. So the quick story whenever I toggle on Ultra Power Saving it does its thing and toggles on mono screen and the various apps like the phone and messaging apps and Facebook app so its pretty standard in activating this setting. The problem starts whenever I toggle it off that is when it reverts back to the regular launcher I have, that is when I turn it U. Power Saving that it does not keep the apps, folders, and the widgets that I had previously they are not uninstalled just removed from the home screen. Have any of you guys know why or how i can fix this? I'm tired of having to rearrange my apps every time I toggle this feature on. Could this be Samsung or my phone? Any info will help! Also if you have this similar problem then it'd be good to hear that I'm not the only one!!
Info:
Tmobile S6 on Marshmallow 6.0.1
Google Now Launcher
Have already factory restored the device and issue still there.
Sorry I wanted to post pics of it but since I am a noob here i am not able to post Pics But i hope that I explained the problem using just words!!!

Maps multi-window annoyance: full screen when phone wakes.

I like to use split-screen combos of Maps + Spotify, or some other audio apps. But every time I've set up my split screens, and then turn off the screen, and later turn it back on, I see the full Maps app — it cancels the multi-window mode! This is very annoying. It looks like it has something to do with Map's "feature" of being able to show above the lock screen .
I don't have this issue with other app pairs.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Can I do anything about this?

Is there a possibility to adjust the AOD?

I want to see the Whatsapp-Icon or similiar...
Any App/Modul from Playstore/Magisk/Xposed?
Thanks in Advance
Not yet. Seems like a pretty big fail if you ask me. Hopefully it comes in an EMUI update. Just set notifications to turn on the screen and enable the LED.
Yes, but it doesn't work (atleast on the P20 Pro)
:/

I've the P20 pro and although the option is there to enable the Always On Display, it doesn't work.
Unsure if other users have found that it doesn't work either?
Head over to Settings > Security & Priavcy > Screen lock & passwords > Always display information - In here there is a slider bar to enable it, and you can schedule all day or a set time period. Either way when I enable it the display doesn't show anything when the screen goes off.
There's other issues too with EMUI 8.1, such as the setting for turning the screen on when you lift the device up - that doesn't work.
Another is the double tap Volume Down button to take a photo, that doesn't work even though the setting is enabled in the camera app.
Another one is when using the Whatsapp call feature the screen goes off, yes this also happens on normal voice call, but unlike in a normal voice call where you can press the power on/off button to display the in call menu screen, in Whatsapp you cannot get the display back on. You are reliant on the person who you are talking to to end the call.
Other than that the device is immense.

Have to say that all of the things you mention work fine on my phone (although I don't have whatsapp so can't comment on that). however the AOD is next to useless - it only shows the time and battery level but no notifications! One of the reasons I bought a phone with an OLED display was for this feature, hope it gets an upgrade to something useful soon. For the time being I've paid for an app called 'Always on AMOLED', which works fine for the most part.
:/
Has there been any progress on this? I'm coming from an S7 and all notifications showed up on the AOD. Cannot understand why the P20 Pro (flagship!) only allows native apps to show notifications.
Anyone have any luck with 3rd Party A.O.D. apps on the P20 Pro to get it to work properly and stick without being killed? One my favorite and most recommended is:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tomer.alwayson but it is sporadic in functionality and staying "Always On" I am trying to use it on my Mate RS
I came from LG G5 (2016), and I can't believe that this feature is missing on the P20 Pro (2018) flagship. Are they insane?!
Any news about it, when might it be implemented?
I'm so pissed about it that it's unbelievable.

I agree! It's a pain in the ass. There are few features missing, but still very annoying.
