AT&T to Chinese rom? - ZTE Axon M Questions & Answers

Guys I've just bought one AT&T Axon 7 without checking the bands so it appears I'll get only 2G here in the UK. I'm still waiting on the unlock code to arrive so I'll test it later on but is it possible to flash the Chinese rom and radio on the AT&T version to unlock the necessary LTE bands?

Problems may occur.

It may not be possible to restore it if the model number is different.
When I burned ROM of Japanese version Z-01K in China version Z999, problems occurred in mobile data communication, there was nothing to change from Z999 to Z-01K, but when I tried to restore it An error has appeared if the model number is different.

That doesn't sound very promising. I guess I got myself a WiFi tablet...kinda.

Have you found a way to get the Axon M to work on 4G in the UK?
And on what network are you? I'm on O2, and I have no signal at all. It doesn't find any network.

2G is only available in some remote Scottish lands so no workaround unfortunately.

I thought 2G had to do with the internet speed (EDGE speed), not with the actual phone signal for normal phone calles
What did you do then? Ditched the phone?

Returned back to seller for another reason but otherwise it would've gone back to ebay hoping to get some money back.

Droid 3 In Australia

Hey, I'm in Australia (GSM) and I purchased a Motorola Droid 3 (XT862) from America a few months ago.
Should I have bought the XT860 (GSM version)?
I was with Optus but because they don't support the 850mhz network I switched to Vodafone because they had it. So now I atleast have data working on my phone after those months of not having it, but vodafone sucks, especially on this phone (text messages sometimes don't send/signal cuts out all the time) but the 3G is very good.
The phone I previously had before the Droid 3 was a HTC Tmobile G2 which I had also bought from America, and everything worked perfectly.
If I buy the XT860 will it fix everything?
On the Motorola website it says the XT862 and XT860 have the same networks... but the XT680 is supposed to be used on GSM, so would it work fine?
Sorry if I confused anyone, I'm really baked.
Thanks in advance for anyone trying to help
Maybe you could try the T-MOBILE AT&T hack?
Sent from my XT862 using XDA
i have XT 862, on GSM and it works perfectly. More than that, I use also vodafone
The xt860 (and xt883) would not be any better; all they (along with the xt862) support UTMS 850/1900/2100mHz. Thus, you probably didn't get a lot of 3G on the Optus network (which uses 900/2100mHz). The main Vodafone 3G network in Aus is 900/2100mHz, but they are in the process of rolling out an 850mHz network.
Telstra Next-G uses 850mHz (and they have 2100mHz as well, but only in cities I believe)
Anyway, in brief: If you're willing to switch to Telstra, you should get great results. If not, Vodafone is the next best option.
I have xt862 on optus in Austraia. I just stay in global mode. I did experiment around with some of the custom roms but found weirdnesses like my calls not coming thru. I went back to stock and now im going to stay on stock until cm9 reaches release. Im not having any issues on stock.
Hope this helps

Just did it, I suppose it improved the situation a tiny bit, but i'm not sure.
I will do some tests on the Telstra network, see if it's better than Vodafone.
Im using the phone in Global mode atm and I'm getting a decent 3-4 bars instead of the 1 or 2 i'd normally get which excites me
And the network type is displaying HSPA.
But I cannot send text messages, everytime, it just says "Text message not sent" which is very annoying. Anyone know anything about this? When I swapped over to Vodafone from Optus I could send texts but after a point it just stopped working...
Anyone know anything about this?
thanks
So does the droid 3 bought from usa connect to data services with optus at all?
How fast is data transfer in "global" mode?
late reply i know, but I'm on TPG [Optus network] in Qld, Aus with the droid 3 XT862.
from memory, all i've done is done the 'hack' to show actual reception, rather than 1 bar. I run the phone on the global setting.
I just ran a speedtest.net check, got an internode server in Sydney. ping 139ms, DL 5241kbps, UL 1202kbps.
OP, when you were with Optus, did you go through your account settings and make sure you had 3G data turned on for your phone, etc? I'm not trying to patronise or anything, but it always helps to start with the basics when fault finding.
Regards,
Hi All,
Im also in Australia, with Vodafone, and am looking at getting myself a Droid 3 as well.
Since the phones aren't released here, what happens about software updates? Im assuming they won't happen via OTA?
Im leaning towards the XT860, rather than the XT862, any particular reason to go for either?
Thanks,
cevad

No difference between them but the xt860 has more dedicated roms here. Both are the same phone and just build.prop edits are needed to get the phones up and running in 5 mins. OTA updates will still work anywhere tho if you root and mod your phone don't use use the OTA feature as you will screw your phone.
All you need to do select wcdma/gsm mode and manually put in your service provider APNs to get 3G. Find this on the Voda site.
Best place to find your APN is here:

I managed to get a xt862, but I cant get data working on optus? (live connected)
calls/text works - tried global mode, tried GSM/UMTS mode, tried manually selecting optus 3g network, made sure the data setting was enabled which is actually under "battery & data manager". Already manually input the optus apn.
what am I missing?
Do you have to do the tmobile at&t hack? running everything stock from factory; or will rooting the phone/install ics help?
I have the one bar reception bug which I read on another thread if that makes a difference.
nvm, got it to work, for some reason manually inputting an APN didnt work, had to find the optus site and send it via sms.
Speed isnt too bad.
The next problem now though is wireless hotspot. It connects but no data goes through for some reason

If the xt862 is the verizon version, I have read that verizon have blocked the hotspot stuff from working.

[Q] After CM9, can't use phone in another country?

Hi all --
Have had i9000 with o2 (Germany) for about 2 years. Used the phone in countries all over Europe with no problem.
Recently upgraded the phone to use CM9, and everything was fine here in Germany.
Went to Norway this week, but could not connect to any mobile network. All were rejecting me. Noticed that my IMEI was showing up as 004999010640000 -- figured that might have been the problem.
When returning to Germany, I checked my IMEI number, and it was displaying the correct number.
First off, how is that possible? I thought IMEI was what it was, and displaying the number (via *#06#) had nothing to do with the network I was/wasn't connected to.
Second -- what must I do so that I can once again use the phone when traveling outside of Germany?
Rather desperate -- thanks!!!
Really sorry to bump my own post, but I truly am desperate. I just cannot understand why I can no longer connect to a foreign network when I always could from this phone. I'm leaving for a business trip tomorrow and will be screwed if my phone doesn't work.
I'm running CM9 with baseband version I9000XXJVT, if that's any help. Do I need to flash another modem?
Is there nobody out there who can offer at least some advice and/or suggestion?

This is rather odd, as IMEI does not change based on location or network, it can be blocked by Networks , meaning O2 may not have agreements with other networks for it to connect when you are roaming to some or all other networks. BUT NO Network/modem can change your IMEI, only you can corrupt it by using a custom firmware read this
So what you have mentioned makes little sense and you need to contact your sim provider, as to why you cannot connect to other networks . (could be due to a sim lock)
Agreed -- it makes no sense whatsoever. Even stranger is the fact that though I could not connect to any network, I was able to get data -- check emails, etc. Phone calls were not possible, and there was an 'X' over the signal bars in the top bar. Can't explain that either...
Prior to CM9, I had no problem connecting in Norway (I was using stock Gingerbread.) Only this time was I denied access to any and all networks.
However, at the moment I am in Denmark, and I have managed to connect to one of their networks with no problem. Let's see if it works in Finland later....

most likely a roaming problem that your network provider needs to address
Sorry for interference , but after your description seems to be the know lost of IMEI after flashing a custom ROM.
If you have a backup of efs ...its simply to restore IMEI...just search the forum, there are a lot of posts about restoring IMEI...
If not have that backup, then install again GB 2.3.6....make a save efs folder...and then install again CM9, i recomend last CM 9 Stable.
Greetings.

Unlocked HTC One Having AT&T LTE Issues

Hey everyone I just bought an unlocked HTC One and switched the SIM card from my iPhone 5 into the new phone. I unlocked the bootloader, rooted it, and installed ARHD Sense version and I am having problems with the phone getting LTE. No matter where I am, I am unable to acquire LTE on the phone. Even in places where I know for sure that it has LTE (due to getting it previously on my iPhone) I'm stuck on HSPA+. Anyone have any ideas what the problem might be? Faulty device maybe? Would rather not have to send the phone back. I have tried also changing the APN, which changed nothing.

Do you have LTE turned on? You should be on LTE/GSM/WDCMA under Network Mode in settings. Wording may very depending on your ROM.
Yeah I have Lte enabled, which is why I'm confused as to why lte is not working.

My best guess... Consider calling AT&T and switching off the iPhone data plan to a "smartphone" data plan. I don't know the differences between the 2 but it could be effecting your ability to connect to lte from the one.

Hmm I've been considering it just I have seen other people just pop their iPhone 5 SIM into an unlocked/developer edition HTC One and have full LTE connectivity, and not to mention the fact that dealing with AT&T is a pain.

I know what ya mean... You could also try flashing at&ts latest radio... It probably only really effects AT&T based roms but it's supposed to open up some new lte bands. I used the link from post 95. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2325564&page=10 just make sure you grab the right one installing the one for cm 10 on a sense Rom will mess up your signal strength because it replaces some ril files while flashing the radio. It's a shot in the dark but wont hurt to try.

That actually used to be a really common problem, but they seem to use the same data plans for all smartphones now. Still, might be worth a try.

Thanks will try that out soon. Also, to the person above, tried flashing an AT&T radio, which didn't help anything, but was worth the shot. Thanks for the help guys.
EDIT: So tried out switching it to LTE Only and it wouldn't let the setting stick. It would automatically change the preferred network type back to what it was whenever selecting LTE Only. Also, the LTE, CDMA option did not change anything. Again thanks for the help, I'm just going to send it back and hope for the best with a new device.

I think your problem occured beacause your device works only in 3G and 4G so you can't get 2G.
But why device works only in 3/4 g? In antenna additional info I can see, that phone gets signal from tower, but can't connect. You think that antenna is different?

Yes may be so u can fix this problem like that:
-Go to your settings and click on mobile data the you'll see the type of the connection so select automatique.

SM-N950N CSC change

So i bought the N950N version from SK (kt branded) is there any way to change the csc to multi? I live in italy so i need the ITV one. Im asking this becuase the mobile data icon stays on 3G while on my S6E+ chamges to H+ (don't have 4G acrivated because of reasons). The speedtest also shows a big differnce in DL from the 2 phones.
Thanks in advance

I don't think the CSC change would help you as your issue is with the radio which is in CP file. It is not an icon or preinstalled apps as you have described. There was a speed difference so it is most likely a 3G band compatibility issue.

Thanks for the reply kalm.
The bands are the following, may not be exhaustive though.
2G/3G 900/2100 MHz UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA, HSPA+, DC-HSPA+
4G 1800/2600 MHz LTE
The rom i was talking about it's the original firmware that can be find on sammobile; can i flash it? Dovi need root permissions in order to flash it?

You won't be able to flash a 950F firmware with Odin, but you can install TWRP and flash a ROM in a zip file that way. Root has nothing to do with this method because the entire system is replaced.

yes, the icon displayed is based on which CSC is loaded. HSPA is technically a 3G technology, so some companies display it this way. Some companies call HSPA+ 4G, and some call LTE 4G.
Can you download the app LTE Discovery and see which type of network you are connecting to?

Hi, I am new on this forum and I reached here searching for the same issue.
I bought a galaxy note 8 SM-N950N, single sim, 64 Gb it’s the korean model.
Since I am italian and soon will go back to Italy, I’d like to know if is it possible to flash a stock italian or at least european rom.
And if you have any suggestion about which one should I use, for the moment I understood that I should flash the twrp and then put a zip file with the rom.
Is it possible to do it also without triggering the knox?
Thanks in advance.

That's strange, I don't have a problem and I didn't change the CSC for it. I think there are some threads here on how to change the CSC from a 950N, but you would have to root the phone. I haven't done that so I won't be a help in that. Good luck, and let us know if you get it sorted.
