Updates slow in indian region.... - Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) Questions & Answers

hey guys...!!!
I've got two questions
First
Just wanted to know why are updates slow in Indian region.
it's been since July that we got any updates.
Russian region got it's fourth update since Oreo.
even our neighbor country Pakistan got its second update after Oreo.
Why the partiality..??
Second if i flash any other region what are the downside..??
and which reason is close to the Indian region in terms of network.
Any help would be appreciated.
Information source sammobile firmware section

i dont recommend flashing other countries firmware
maiy because indian phones are rmm lock free and flashing other country os can put rmm lock and it would be really bad
i say go try teamexyking's s9 plus port for a8 plus

Had similar discussion in another thread - https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-a8-plus/how-to/samsung-a8-2018-to-android-oreo-soon-t3789284
Looks like Samsung has forgot about A8+.
I just hope we get Android 9.0 Pie update for A8+

You got it through OTA ?
Yes OTA. My phone is not rooted.
Huawei hast a miserable update politic.
No one knows how it works and why some devices are getting updated immediately and others not.
EMUI8 should be rolled out for everyone. Maybe your IMEI is not in their system or your phone is rebranded and Huawei won't update because IMEI and region are not fitting together.
You can try Firmware Finder app by TeamMT to update. It works until newer Oreo versions. You can also check Firmware Access in this app, maybe you can update through it.
Or you try to ask Huaweis support, but it's not very good and professional in most countries.

Which of these should i install in order not to lose my data ?
Thank you
Try OTA first, if this doesn't work FullOTA.
There's always a risk losing your data while updating, even with official methods.
If you want to lower this risk try the latest version called "(Full)OTA-PV". This is the public version.
I never had any issues with updating using Firmware Finders files.

Not global, C636 is an Asian version. There are beta tests in some European countries and sometimes Huawei ceased releasing updates completely (I'm stuck on B376 and it's the newest version for my country, even though P10 Lite got 4 more updates and continues getting them regularly).

you're not stuck. change to another region firmware. what's stopping you
@fatjoez You cannot change the region in EMUI anymore, it's determined by your SIM. It's enough to swap it with the one from abroad and updates will show up immediately. It worked for many people, unfortunately I don't have an access to such SIM.
And it's not a bug, Huawei's consultants admitted that by Huawei's decision B376 is the newest software in my country (which is one of the largest for Huawei in EU).
no I mean what's stopping you to rebrand your phone? or force flash another regions firmware?

Yes, look for 'rebranding' in the guides section. You do need an unlocked bootloader for this.

Hi
I got the same model VTR-L29(C636) on eBay from China. Trying to use it in Delhi, but the phone appears to have extremely poor radios. It connects well in areas where the signal is strong, but in weak areas it just doesn't connect at all.
India primarily uses 4 LTE bands - 3, 40, 41 and 5. Band 5 (850 mhz) comes into play indoors, where the signal is the weakest. It looks as if the P10 is unable to use this band, although the specifications say so.
I am interested in knowing what is the connectivity of the phone like in B'desh, whether you are facing the same issues or not.
Thanks.
Hi
Here in Dhaka we have 3G & 4G connection available based on locations in City area. Most of the time my phone connected with 3G and very rare it is on 4G though it is set on 4G.
I have no problem on connection and the speed.
Hope this helps you.
Cheers.
Finally Android Pie official is rolling out, already in China and soon Europe and rest of the world

Did someone try flashing the Android 9.0 images?

Hello everyone!
I heard about the pie beta in Germany, but sadly i don't live in Germany, so i can't join the beta program. But i found the 9.0 images on the huawei firmware database site (https://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database/?firmware_model=VTR-L09&firmware_page=0), and i'm planning to flash the images, but i don't know if they work.
So my question is, did someone try flashing the android 9.0 images?
You need to rebrand to the correct version first. And maybe you need to be on the right firmware version, but I don't know which version is the right one, it should be between B367 and B381.
The Pie versions on FF are for Latin America / Argentina, so maybe the cell frequencies are different to your region and you can't use your version.
There's also no known way to downgrade to Oreo at the moment, if you didn't install the official beta.
So, wait until Pie is released for your region and flash it manually to be safe. It's possible to brick your phone very easily by flashing the wrong version.

Just curious if you've been living under a rock for a month. It's out for almost every single country and if you check the forums you'll see the beta has finished back in March
Android Pie is out.... but don't expect it anytime soon on your phone reason being you have the C782 version, this is a customised region requested by the UK network's that Huawei agreed to, so updates are very few and far between hence why your still stuck on the December security patch.

Firmware Flashing Samsung A71

I need help in checking if this is safe to do, last march I waited for Samsung A71 android 12 version for Philippines which is XTC. however, the software is not available during that time, the one that I saw that was available that time was from Hong Kong TGY. I was able to successfully flash the software. Recently the Philippine version for Android 12 is already available, can I flash the PH version to my phone? If possible can I still do it through Odin? or it doesn't really matter which version of android 12 software I flash to my phone?
Thank you so much to who ever can provide light on my question.
