The TWRP is here, remains the problem of blocked Bootloaders and Huawei no longer leaves the key, so the custom recovery will be a dream for so many

I think there will come a solution for that problem

Oh my God will you just please be quiet we get it you think stock is better but in case you haven't noticed this is an xda developers community where people develop stuff to enhance the users experience if you just like plain stock...why are you even here? This is a community where we can get the most of our devices and have unlimited amount of customizations

So for unlocking u can do it through funkyhuawei which will cost you. Or go to authorised service centre and get your bootloader unlocked.

Pay to unlock a bootloader? Never Eheh
A good suggestion, I turn to a Huawei center in my city!
A curiosity, doing the root OTA updates will not work, as it will do to update since there are no custom ROMs?

Fastboot, dd method or just Flashify app from Play Store.
Thanks alot for the Recovery. I got my phone today and have in the mean time asked Huawei to release the kernel source for ALE-21/23 and they have replyed to me. Here are the kernel sources: http://emui.huawei.com/en/plugin.php?id=hwdownload&mod=detail&mid=103. As soon as I have time I will look into building a custom rom for the P8 Lite

I don't have the 2017 version, but what does it say? Can't you flash the system via fastboot? Or use stock recovery and force update to update it? Just remember that you need a FULL package. On most Huawei phones you can just flash a FULL package I'm TWRP. Just OTA doesn't work because it doesn't include a full system.img most of the times.

Sorry, I meant installing, not restoring. It's just bascally downloading the ROM, extracting the contents using Huawei update extractor, and using ADB to push the files in. You will need to reinstall TWRP and Root afterwards..Google is your friend, there are instructions out there, as there are 3 ways to install the stock ROM: using the updater on your phone, using the key combo, and the 3rd one being ADB.

Unofficial TWRP (Beta in progress) update link

Welcome to a world of new they called me walker or walkerblue
FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK!!
Today im bringing you guys a twrp that still in works
If any devs that would like to help to get all working make our Z2 force page grow faster
I'll be making a hangout chat for devs only!
https://hangouts.google.com/group/ksHPFhZPgjPZBd292
TWRP boots so far for T-Mobile ,Sprint
First I want to thank these people for making everything easy and possible for us in XDA
Thanks to @shimp208 for making Minimal ADB tool easy to use and also thanks to TWRP team for making root easy
Okay now to install this recovery
First make sure you all all drives on computers installed
USB Link: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_detail/a_id/78830/p/30,2625,665
ADB Link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
Beta recovery Link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxohOX1FGysPaV9ObDVFVjNZWU0
Step Two: Ones you have all your files now you need is the commond to flash this recovery img
So in ADB tools make sure you put the recovery in the folder on where you have it located in your computer
then make sure you hit cmd-here or the icon app that tool left you on your desktop
Then ones that happens make sure you have debugging check on your device
then run this on cmd "adb devies" to make sure your device is listed
then after you have done that make sure you run this commend next "adb reboot bootloader"
ones you do that then your phone should take you too bootloader page then you can flash recovery file
then you will put this commend "fastboot flash boot beta.img""
then ones you do that make sure you use your arrows on your side of your device to get into recovery
Then BOOM your have your twrp flashed
Hit the Big Thumps up for me

Preliminary TWRP 3.1.1-0 for Mate 9/EMUI 8 (Android O)

This is TWRP to Mate 9/Android O, brought to you by FunkyHuawei.
It's just a preliminary build so I can't promise anything/everything will work! Keep that in mind. I'm not responsible if you brick your device.
EDIT: Does not work with Mate 10 series.
DOWNLOAD LINK:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B45NCsO2AL_1NEh2aDFLM3JlYkU
It works on the Android O build here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/FunkyHuawei/comments/75uwkd/october_12_first_official_android_o_beta_for/
and the official European beta.
To install:
First, have Android O running. Unlock the bootloader. Download the twrp image.
Then, run in fastboot mode:
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp_android_o_mate9_a1.img
Then, reboot holding volume up, and you've got TWRP!
Note: With the Android O update, it is no longer possible to flash the recovery2 partition. Furthermore, the names of the partitions have changed. Please keep that in mind, and don't mess around too much with TWRP, to be sure you don't brick your system!
That's Cool ("L")
A way ahead always.
Thanks,
goldybewon

What are you looking for? You could just unpack twrp using android image kitchen if you want partition names etc.
Yes I know. But I'm interested in Oreo kernel.

Kernel is not included within recovery anymore. Things have changed a lot.

Actually, I have oreo for P10 plus, but haven't released it. If you want to test it, maybe I can try to release something. I want to find something more recent though.
I just want the firmware to look inside what things have changed etc. Maybe you can write me a pm what we can do that I get the files.

I have sent a pm
Ah. boot partition is now called ramdisk_a, and zImage (kernel) is kept in kernel_a.
Need to "hack" magisk to get this working xD
Edit: It's impossible!
Maybe.
Magisk refuses to find ramdisk_a or /dev/block/sdd36.
That's interesting. I hope Huawei upload new sources and this time maybe working sources
@duraaraa could you upload stock recover_ramdisk? I can't go back to N without it and wasted 2 credits :/

I think so. A few files that are usually found in boot image are not found in ramdisk_a. So even if we could get it to find that partition it probably won't work anyway.
I tried making a pre-rooted image, but since it's missing sepolicy it wouldn't work (I guess that's why anyway).
I can't live without root . Mainly because all my backups are made with Titanium Backup, which requires root. And I need adfree..

I can't upload it for everyone but if you send an email to FH support you can get a hold of it.
