I do have what's app and Instagram apart from the other two that you mentioned .. my general use is of 3.5 to 4 hours per day but by the end of day the battery dies..so my question is should I stop background running apps? I have around 30 to 35 apps installed on phone..

I got this tips for battery longevity..
Also, don't put phone on vibration mode...it consumes battery...either silent or sound..

Attached

1) get charger alarm and set it to 80%
2) disable uselesa background apps.
Thats it.
I charge to 80% every morning, despite having 4G volte + data 24/7 with upto 2 hours calling, 30mins-60mins gaming, 1hr+ chatting, 30mins+ 9gag, 30mins youtube...
Mine phone still stays around 35%...when I check next morning
Data (4g), location, auto synch are ALWAYS turned ON
(Yesterday my totol usge was 5.5hours with 1hour gaming (fortnite)... My battery was at 25% when i checked this morning)

I recently bought the honor play but have found the battery usage to be higher than I would like at night during standby. I leave my phone connected to wifi and 4g (although 4g is not on when wifi is) and I noticed that the phone wakes up a lot during the night. It seems that it mostly wakes up more often when on wifi as when on 4g during the day there are far fewer wake up events. So to solve this problem I'm using tasker to disable wifi, deny all network activity (excluding calls), bluetooth and auto sync for me during 11:30pm and 7.30am. The result is that the phone barely wakes up at night now and I am getting 2-3% battery drain over 8 hours instead of 10-14%. So I would recommend doing this, as it seems to improve battery life. There may be other apps that can do the same thing but I like the interface and usability of it over something like automate.
Edit: I would also recommend leaving the standard power saving mode on all the time as it doesn't limit performance but just limits background activity. However, this does disable auto sync, but then you could just set auto sync to turn on at set intervals using tasker, at least that's what I'm doing.

Battery Drains during Standby Mode

Does anybody experience a 3% to 5% battery drain just a few minutes after charging the battery to 100%? It has already reached 100% so I already unplugged it from the charger, but then I noticed after a few minutes, it went down to 97% already, and then in 10 minutes, it's already down to 96%. In 3 hours, it's down to 84%; in 7 hours, it's down to 38% and that's just on standby mode with Wifi/Bluetooth OFF, 3G OFF, GSM only. I've been experiencing this problem for the past few days now. I've already conditioned my battery, charging it to a full charge (100%) after draining the battery until it shuts the phone off. I only charge the battery while the phone is off and usually it takes about 3 to 4 hours maximum to charge it to 100%.
The longest time it reached was 12 hours (battery unplugged from charger) and that is with light use, such as Wifi is only on for a couple of hours, so basically just 2 hours web browsing and skype, 10-20 text messages and 30 minutes to 1 hour browsing the photo gallery or watching videos. No phone calls and 3G is off. The rest of the day, the phone is just on standby mode. I only have at most 10 widgets on the home screen. I have Avast Antivirus running in the background.
I am currently using Easy Battery Saver, Easy Task Killer, GO Task Manager and Battery Monitor Widget. I've uninstalled Juice Defender since I don't think it helps that much when it comes to the battery drain. Currently, the power saving option (available on Note) is enabled at 50%.

Any feedback or comment on this matter would be really much appreciated. Thanks!
From a personal standpoint. Your screenshots shows that your phone had never ever done a deep sleep at all. the 'Awake' mode is continously consistent as well. I guess the probable reason for that is you've installed ''Avast AV" on your phone. It's always running in the background (whenever the phone is ON). From my experiences, Any background application running would always cause wakelocks and the phone would never enter into deep sleep at all.
How bout you try uninstalling some of the background apps your using esp. Avast AV and give it a day to observe if your still having that battery drain issue. (Don't forget after uninstalling or removing those apps, try to wipe dalvik cache and battery stat and restart your phone after.)
and Oh by the way, I am using Juice Defender and contrary to your saying it doesn't help.. IT DOES HELP save battery as I my Note is able to reach 1.5- 2 days of normal use.
Cheers!
Yeah and download betterbatterystats and do some searching on it. With it you can discover what is causing those wakelocks. Search the web for more info on your wakelocks.

I'm using avast and never seen a drain like that. Only time I have is because of background processing. First thing I would do is turn off Background Data
Then as others have said - check batterystats to see where wakelocks are
Plus a rooted phone is a good thing. Titanium backup allowed me to freeze wi-fi sharing which also made a big difference
Finally - clear all caches from Applications menu and reboot

Only picture that shows that is the one with 1 minute 56 sec discharging time, so it was taken shortly after taking charger out. No suprise of it being almost 100% screen on time there if its only 2 minutes
Also installing "cpu spy" will give the cumulative time that your cpu spent at each frequency including deep sleep , mine is showing 88%
John.
Anti virus app is battery hog, I had avast before too, and I uninstalled it after 2 days using. Also that Juice defender, from my test before, it use up more battery than it saved. turning on and off those 3G/Wifi thing is using up alot of battery. and you know what? even the betterbatterystats use up alot, at least to me, becoz it scan what is up frequently.
Hello! Thank you all so much for your response. I've installed both BetterBatteryStats and CPU Spy and here are the results (please see attachments). Upon checking CPU Spy, it shows there that phone did went to deep sleep, maybe? I'm not quite sure, but it shows on the screenshot that it went to deep sleep for 19%. So does that mean the phone really went to sleep?? I'm sorry to ask this question, since I've never really encountered this problem before with my previous Samsung Wave phone, how will you know that your phone went straight to deep sleep mode?
Also, after 46 minutes or so, the battery went down to 96% already after charging it. The battery drain was already 4% in less than an hour.
@letters_to_cleo: I have not uninstalled Avast yet, since I'm still hesitant to use my phone without an AV. But I will try your suggestion for 1 day and see if there's any battery improvement.
I'm looking forward to your response or suggestions. Thanks again!
i am having problem too with new battery original samsung ( made in japan, finished in korea) previously i use samsung battery made in china, finished in korea. charged it over night with power off. it only last 13hrs. my wife phone can last 30hrs.
i've used batterymix to check the battery usage graph, the usage graph drop very fast compare to my wife phone. i'll post some screen capture of the graphs.
another issue is i used once wifi sharing. after turning switching the wifi sharing off, the wifi sharing service always at the background even after many reboot. how to turn that off??
You might need a new battery. Any rechargeable battery has a finite charging cycle. Just a suggestion.
Hi, all! I just noticed that the battery drains still even during deep sleep mode. After 3 hours or so (during sleep mode according to CPU Spy), the battery went down to 92%. It drains even faster when the phone is in use, especially when Wifi and Bluetooth are on, maybe 2-5% drain in 1 hour.
Maybe there's something wrong with the battery?? It's still a new battery and I can see some improvement each day though, but that's because I use it less each day. Before the battery can only last for 8-10 hours, then it increased to 12 hours, and then to 16-17 hours. BetterBatteryStats' current estimate to empty is 24 hours as of today, but that's because I only used the phone today for only a couple of hours, with 20 minutes Wifi and Bluetooth ON and most of the time, it's on deep sleep mode according to CPU Spy.
What do I do with the results from the Partial Wakelocks? Do I have to disable those apps?? The Kernel Wakelocks didn't show any reference apps running. The screenshots for the Partial and Kernel Wakelocks that were taken a few hours earlier still show the same results after 3 hours.

That would be really bad luck. I got my Note via preorder in Germany at the first day it was sold and since then I charged it everyday, sometimes even twice and there is no difference to the first day. If I get told by Samsung after 6month of normal usage the battery is dead that would be the last Samsung device I bought and I use a lot of Samsung stuff.
@ebichan24
Your last screenshots show between 9:35 and 13:35 5% of battery drain. That's not really a good value but ways lower than before. Did you delete some Apps or what did you change?
And since when occurred this issue? Did you install new Apps before this happened?
On my Note I had this issue sometimes without any changes but it was gone after a reboot.
Gesendet von meinem ARCHOS 101G9 mit Tapatalk 2
Agreed with Kanalcommander.... try a reboot in the first instance.
Others have also noted that it takes a few refresh cycles before the phone more accurately reports battery use. Perhaps what you are reporting is because the phone and battery are new (new ROM or Kernel loaded?)
What I have done in the past is to reboot into CWM recovery then clear the battery stats (in the Advanced menu option) Recharge the battery to 100% until it says to remove charger and then use normally until battery down to around 20%, then recharge the battery to 100% again. Do this over a few days and that may help.
thanks, it is new battery two days old.

I was having similar problems with my new note and finishing full charge in 12 hrs but fixed some things and my last charge gave me 2d6hr seriously..few things i did were stop using live wallpapers! Get badass battery to thoroughly monitor stats and then use zdbox to extend life even much eg. I put phone to auto flymode using that app when its sleeping time rest i am more than satisfied even if on GB LC1 fw..waiting for official premium suite for ics since i recently upgraded from sgs2 using ics i miss that smoothness and much better bat life.. Let me know if can be helpful.. Good luck

That's what I'm currently doing right now, well, actually, what I do is I discharge the battery until it reaches 0% and turns the phone off. And then I charge the phone for 3 hours while it's switched off, I turn it back on again to check if the battery is fully charged and then I unplug it from the charger.
@Kanalcommander
**Did you delete some Apps or what did you change?
I haven't deleted any apps yet since I don't know which app/s to delete. Most of the apps I downloaded in Note were the same apps that I used in my iPhone4 and Samsung phone before.
**And since when occurred this issue?
This issue occurred since the first day I bought the phone, which was a couple of weeks ago. How long does it take to condition a new battery and new phone?? I'm sorry if I have to ask this question, it's just because I never really experienced this problem with my previous smartphones.
**Did you install new Apps before this happened? On my Note I had this issue sometimes without any changes but it was gone after a reboot.
I only installed recently CPU Spy and BetterBatteryStats and that's it. The drain of 5% from 9:35 to 13:35, the phone's just on deep sleep mode. And then from 13:35 to 23:44, it went from 92% to 74% while the phone is on deep sleep mode at 90% according to CPU Spy. That's 18% battery drain. It's just an unacceptable number for me. I tried rebooting the phone already, but every time I do so, just a few minutes after I turned the phone ON, there's already a 1% drain in the battery.
Also, does the battery really drain faster when the Wifi is ON? I've read in other threads that there might be some problem with the recent OS update that Samsung needs to address. Is this true?? Because as you can see on the screenshot below, the battery was still at 74% by 23:44 and then after I turned ON the Wifi and used it until 01:26, the battery went down to 54%. That's already a 20% battery drain in just less than 2 hours. I was only browsing through the Android Store and Skype.
Calibrate your battery in case you flashed any roms and for first usage I got my battery to 0% 3 times then everything is running great for example its at 47% now its 22 now and I have had it off charge since 7 morning..... i have wifi gps and 3g always on and use music player bluetooth and made some calls

My battery (also only a week old) drains quickly too. Can anyone tell me if widgets draw a lot of current? And then is it only the ones on the visible screen or do all widgets draw juice all the time?
I will ask such thing, did you guys check the battery expiration day ? Mostly sibce you got your phone almost a yeae after it was announced you nay get a bad battery, as for widgets the ones that are always active and asking for informatiom. Like location or weather over the internet yes they do eat your battery kinda fast.

Recurring battery drain? - Caused by memory of using app to drain battery?
Hello!
I used a battery drain app when charge left was 30% to accelerate drain to "die out" stage. After I completed the calibration process for unrooted phone as suggested in various sites (charge fully, switch off and charge etc.) I started using it from a 100% stage.
This afternoon when the battery showed 30% I saw in BMW the current flow was in -10ma to -15ma and it started spiking to hundreds. There was no change in settings or usage. From the 30% level it dropped to 10% in an hour and I had to charge again.
Was puzzled why the battery which was dropping around 0.5%/hour in standby earlier to the 30% level suddenly went down hill. My first guess was it was possible some file in the system remembered the previous usage history and replayed it out.
Any suggestions? Anyone faced this before? Everyone says LiOn batteries dont have memory so if anything it has to be the phone.
Thanks!

Help with Battery Life

Hi guys, I'm worried about the battery life of my HTC One.
When the phone is on lock mode, meaning screen is off, within one hour battery can go down from 1-3%. Power saver is on, brightness is auto. And 4G/LTE is on.
Also, I only play around with my settings, checking out GSAM battery monitor, within 15 minutes battery can go down 1-2%.
Now it's been 6 hours 22 minutes since I unplugged from charger, battery level is 74%.
Is it normal?
Thanks.
Gsam should be able to tell you where your battery is being used and what app. Look at what the offending app is (most likely Google maps and Google+ or facebook) and use an app like greenify to hibernate them when not in use.

You do realize that the phone is still doing stuff when the screen is off, yes? Syncing e-mails/facebook/news stories, communicating the the network, etc. Even if the phone were completely off, lithium-ion batteries will still deplete(albeit very, very slowly) over time. 1-3% loss in an hour is pretty normal in standby. If you're really concerned about it, you can check out an app called BetterBatteryStats and it'll show you what's waking your phone up from sleep and/or preventing it from sleeping to help identify apps whos sync settings are too aggressive.
Your battery has depleted 26% in 6hrs 22minutes... you're losing roughly 4.08% per hour, at that rate it would take you ~24.5hrs to deplete the battery. Battery depletion is, can be, and should be accelerated when you're using the phone, so 1-2% within 15minutes while looking at a battery monitor... yeah. The more stuff you do with your phone, the sooner the battery will run out.
TL;DR: your battery life is fine.

Thanks for the info. However I noticed in some threads that for certain people, their HTC One can last for 1 days 9 hours. For example:

It's going to be very difficult for you to replicate the results of someone else(and we are lacking a ton of information from that post--is he running a custom rom, custom kernel, are screen off/on profiles being used, what apps are syncing, how often, how many, etc).
Beyond usage, phones can vary greatly from within the same model based on the manufacturing process/location/materials. For instance, there's a thread in the General Section exploring the differences in various HTC One's screen maximum screen brightness. Even down the chemistry of the batteries themselves. I know from personal experience that one of the biggest impacts on battery life can be how strong of a signal you're receiving from your carrier. If you life/work in a low signal area, the phone will increase power to the antennae to maintain the connection whereas if you're in a good signal area, it doesn't have to work as hard.
Anyone use GSAM Battery Monitor app? Why does the battery usage % doesn't add up to 100% when you add it with the remaining battery % sometime?
Yesterday it's still fine. But today my battery usage % + remaining battery % only add up to 93%.

Most people use that app. I'm not sure why it isn't working 100%. Did you plug your phone in for a very short amount of time? That might make errors. After you charge it overnight everything should be fine. Try using it for another day.

In GSAM Battery Monitor, my App Usage is always the highest contributor to battery usage, usually around 85%-90%. Screen is only 10.8%.
When I dig deeper into the App Usage, Kernel (Android OS) 23.8%, and Android System 15.7% are the top 2.
Is it normal?

How to tackle my Z3C battery drain issues?? I'm fed up

I'm fed up a bit for my Z3 C battery life. This is my second query regarding battery life.
Does keeping Mobile data and Whatsapp running ON even in standby mode drains the battery??
I usually get just 1 or 2 whatsapp messages in an hour or two.
My phone settings-
Always turned off my wifi/ bt/ nfc/ gps/ location tracking/ autoupdates etc. & everything you can think and suggest.
Use only stock custom wallpaper and no live stuff. No widgets. No sd card inserted. With only two hoemscreen wih just 2 shortcuts on each screen.
Have disabled apps which I dont use.
Stopped services of apps which are no longer needed.
No auto sync enabled for any app.
Display brightness is at 30% all times.
*****************************************************************************************************************************************************************
I use only these 3rd party apps-
Status bar mini
Network monitor mini
Whatsapp
Greenify
*****************************************************************************************************************************************************************
My daily Z3 routine-
At night while going to sleep I turn off mobile data, turn on airplane mode and turn on stamina mode. (12:30am - 9:30am)
When I wake up the next day battery is down by 4-5%.
During day, phone runs in normal mode without any stamina activated. (10am - 12:30am)
*****************************************************************************************************************************************************************
The Low-battery mode seems useless as it does literally nothing.
Also, as soon as the battery is 100% charged and if I use phone for even 5 mins the battery immediately drops to 99%, so is this normal??
Even if I capture 5 photos in stock auto mode the battery drops by 1% or 2.
I reboot my phone once a week or in 10 days or when need arises.
Ram utilised is always 1gb. But I dont feel any slowness for any app or my phone usage.
But again I dont watch any movies or play games fearing my battery will deplete in no time.
I use 2G/edge network as 3G isnt available for my operator in the city I reside.
Charging the phone to 100% from 14% takes 3 to 3.5 hours.
I have already repaired my phone using Sony pc companion and also did a factory reset as well but this issue has been haunting me every now and then.
Sony center says the battery doesnt need any replacement as its still healthy and so is my device.
The phones service menu also reports battery status as Good.
I dont know when is Lollipop gonna be out for Z3 but I fear updating to Lollipop as it may pose more issues than doing any good apart from usual gui tweaks & updates.
But just wish that lollipop brings in more relief to Z3 batteries.
It would be better if you also posted some screenshots with your battery usage.

EVERYTHING drains battery, literally everything. If your volume is on max it also drains more then when your volume is very low. (Just an example)
There is a controversy when it comes to WiFi vs 3G which drains more.
In the end I think that it depends on the coverage. For me 3G/4G drains my battery less then my WiFi due to the poor WiFi reception.
That your phone loses about 5% over night really isn't THAT bad, what I do before I go to bed is "Close all" to close all the aps running in the background (It won't terminate WhatsApp's service) and I let Greenify hibernate all programs that I selected.
There was also a talk about charging your phone to 100% vs 99% the first percentage drains fast for everyone so that's why it's maybe better to only charge it till 99%.
With screenshots of your battery usage we could help you more, but as far as I can see there is nothing wrong with your battery.
If you're rooted, try BetterBatteryStats to pinpoint the drain.

Battery drain over night

Hello, I'm new here. Coming from a Galaxy Nexus, and I'm impressed with this device already.
My question is if it's normal that battery drains around 4 or 5 % over night. I always turn off data, wifi, put it on airplane mode. I also disabled active display, the camera gesture thing and the voice commands.
I think it should be 0% drain :/

(Guessing 8 hours of sleep.) .5-.6 % per hour is great for this phone.
With data (not wifi), active display, gestures and voice commands turned on, plus a few root level changes like greenify, xposed amplify and freezing apps, I achieve around 1 % per hour at idle on stock 4.4.4. This usually equates to around 3 days standby and 1.5 hours of screen time for me.
(I am now testing lollipop... I'm at 1.5 days with 1.5 hours screen time, longer than normal talk time and 30% battery remaining.)
I don't even make it to a day lol. Usually I've to charge at night and then around 7 pm
Here is my sleep running r12 kernel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59527748&postcount=811 And I don't turn on airplane mode or anything. That is just screen off.
Same problem here (Android 4.4.4, rooted).
Battery drain in flight mode (additionally also tried Moto Voice off, Active Display off, Data off, GPS off without any positive effects) is nearly the same as over the day when using the phone.
The fact that "Stand by" has 25% of all battery usage is a little bit perverted
I'm really happy with Moto X' battery consumption over the day. Normally I have to charge it every second night. But putting to flight mode at 56% when going to sleep and not charging it and finding it at 40% the next morning is kind of frustrating
Install Bettery Guru from Qualcomm, from play store if you run 4.4.x or download the apk from somewhere if you run 5.1+. It will help you reduce the standby drain.

Hmm...doesn't seem to do anything more that I and Tasker do: Deactivate WLAN, Data & Co.
But okay...I'll try that out
From my experience the Motorola SoC has a abnormal high Standby battery drain. You can try whatever you want but you will not get below a certain level like on other phones. Perhaps the contextual cores are never turned off no matter if you use the feature or not, i don't know. At least it gets me trough a day...

Not really, check the screenshot below. For 10hrs ide, it drained 2-3% witch is perfectly normal.
1 square = 1hr

Standby drain

When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the Sony Xperia Z5's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Battery drain rating on Sony's Stock ROM is only average (0.7-1% per hour in Airplane Mode), no matter if (unrooted) Stock ROM or with Custom Kernel; 0.5% at best with gauge tweaks and other modifications;
AOSP/CM ROM appears to be excellent - 1% per several hours;
doesn't come close to my Note 3 (a few per cents per day) or even my Galaxy S1 with the original battery (2-3% per day), but that's no disadvantage of the Z5 per se
battery's technology simply wasn't allowed to catch up with progress yet
Something keeps my device awaken - not sure what this could be, as the Wakelock Detector and other apps that can show culprits require root to run on Android versions from KitKat and above. This causes battery drain when the phone is not in use overnight. Does anyone else have similiar issue?

it's most likely something else
or part of the kernel or deep within the system,
because blocking wakelocks does hardly have any effect
I find my standby drain to be terrible. I can leave my phone in my pocket, with all background app closed down and it still somehow looses 30% in about an hour.
You keep breathing while sleeping
I use GSAM Battery Monitor to keep an eye on things. After a few weeks I'm happy enough with battery drain levels.
It mostly depends on phone signal; if I'm at home the signal is very weak and this can drive the standby drain up to nearly 10% an hour, and the phone can get warm. But if it has better phone signal then the drain can be as low as 2% or 3% per hour.
I have my phone set to turn off wifi when screen is off. I also use a Notification area weather app, Messenger, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, etc and I have a number of email accounts and calendars syncing regularly so I would say I'm not running things in a lean manner. I'm sure if I uninstalled most of these apps my standby time would be spectacular, but then I wouldn't be getting particularly good use out of my smartphone.

Have you tried with BREVENT APP together with an aggresive Doze app (Greenify, ForceDoze, NaptimeX)? I´ve now installed Brevent + Greenify and standby during night from 100% "only" takes me 0,5% per hour more or less.
Also inside Brevent you have possibility to access to AppOps (be careful with this option).
I found that Bluetooth was causing massive drain on my phone. The fix which worked for me without turning off bluetooth (I like it to auto connect when I get in the car) was Settings->Location, then click the 3 dots menu in the top right and then Scanning, turn off Bluetooth Scanning. There are a few other things you can do as well.

you have 96%, that prediction is BS, never the prediction come true.
I charge the phone 100%, tell me it going to last 12hours and go to sleep for ~7 hours and the battery is less than 30%.
the overheat over time killed the battery.
