Change CSC to Germany - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Hello Forum!
I bought a Galaxy Note8 Duos on eBay.
After one year I noticed that it originally came from Singapore and not from Germany.
So on CSC I have SIN/SIN/XSP instead of DBT.
Updates are not released there as regularly as in Germany.
How can I change the CSC number without rooting the device and Knox still working?
I have already tried to reinstall the device using Odin and the German CSC file.
But it didn't work. It remains on Singapore.
This question has been asked many times before, but all the answers don't work for me.

I have now by the Singapore Rome no disadvantages, but I would have nevertheless whole gladly a German one.
Is there also a good way to get the bull**** apps like Facebook & Co. To uninstall?
I don't need them and deactivating them is not enough for me.
Does it still work with a PC, USB cable and ADB?
- Hoerli

You may first find the newest german firmware adequate for the carrier you are subscribed to, then flash the entire firmware, not only csc, also use the newest ODIN version, that should work

Go to Sammobile and lookup Galaxy Note8 N950F and download the firmware. Once you follow the instructions, you will need to select the CSC that it comes with and NOT HOME CSC as this will keep your original csc. NOTE this will factory reset your device as normal with any csc change.

That's exactly what I did. But it remains with Singapore

I know this thread is a bit old, but does anyone happen to have a working solution in stock now?

Simple if it is a multi rom and has the desired country code on the package. Install a sim card of the country you are/want and factory reset the phone at startup the phone will ask you to change csc to the sims country code that has found if you press yes to change it will reboot and boot on recovery and will apply the region/country csc of the sim card you have. After the boot up your phone will be XXX/XXX/YYY where XXX is the original csc and YYY is the csc of the sim you had installed.
Carefully you will need to reset your phone to achieve that so backup before doing it .
Hope it helped
P.S your desired CSC must be on the original package of the rom installed on the phone, aka a multi rom. Let's say on a N950F international unlocked phone.

Done!
I've finally made it.
My approach:
1. all data backed up
2. the DBT firmware flashed with Odin
3. the device switched off
4. factory reset and wipe of the cache and Dalvic
5. smartphone with SIM inserted newly configured
... it didn't work until here and CSC stayed on Singapore.
6. Dialed the following number over the phone:
*#272*My IMEI number#
7. DBT selected
8. At "Select type of Install" I have chosen "Sales Code Change"
9. smartphoea was restarted and deleted
10. after the new setup I now have DBT/DBT/XSP
Now I'm waiting for the Android 9 update.
Interestingly now the phone number *#272*My IMEI number# does not work anymore.

Note to self: the morale of the story is to start at Step #6 (after manually creating a backup).

I'm not sure if steps 1-5 are necessary for step 6 to be done.

Insert a German sim card then reset the phone. When it boots up for the "first" time with the sim it will recognize it and it will prompt to change the csc to the sims country code (dbt) if you press yes then it will go to recovery and change to DBT CSC and you will have DBT/DBT/DBT .

It's not working.
I tried it several times.
I also reinstalled the firmware 3x.
I also read several times on the net that you can't change the last digit without rooting the device.
I can no longer dial the CSC number.
There is always "Unknown MMI code".

Dunno mate what is happening. I had my note send to Poland for burn in on display when it came back it had DBT/DBT/XEU the only solution to change that was with the factory reset and a German sim card. On Munich service center from Samsung they flashed 3 times the german ROM and nothing was happening, after resetting the phone it asked on boot up to change the csc to DBT and that's it.

[Q] HELP! Samsung Galaxy TAB not detecting SIM

I wonder if anyone had problems with their Samsung Galaxy Tab after Gingerbread update via Kies? I updated mine yesterday and today my TAB auto shut down a few times and can't start up property. It auto reboot a few times before it boots up normally. Problem resolved after factory reset, but my TAB can't detect my sim card anymore. It states 'No Service'. Darn...
I even have problem trying to connect to Kies.
For your info,
PDA: P1000DXJPE
PHONE: Unknown
CSC: P1000OLBJPE
I think maybe the ROM for the phone is not installed correctly? How can I fix that?
You are correct, your tab is missing the modem. To giveyou advice, you need to say your model, carrier, and region.
Do you have odin3 software experience?
My Galaxy TAB model is GT-P1000 (not sim locked), sim card and region from Maxis Malaysia. I had just updated the ROM via Kies from Froyo 2.2 to Gingerbread 2.3.3 when this happens.
I just started rooting my tab few days ago by following some instructions on how to use Odin and no.. I am not experienced in using Odin.
Thanks in advance.
P1000DXJPE_Modem
above file is P1000DXJPE modem flashable via odin.
1. Power off your tab and set to download mode (Power + Volume Down).
2. Connect you tab to your pc and run Odin.
3. Click on the [PHONE] button and browse and select P1000DXJPE_Modem.tar file.
it will look something like this.

}
4. hit start and wait for it to finish.
it will look something like this.
It doesn't seem to work. I followed your instructions and the phone software is still Unknown. By the way, do you think I should reflash my Galaxy TAB again? Any idea where I can download the complete ROMs for P1000DXJPE Gingerbread 2.3.3?
i think you should.. you could download P1000DXJPE on samfirmware.. hope everything goes well.
By the way, do I need the pit file, modem and csc for the flashing?
You will need the pit file. The P1000DXJPE update comes in 1 tar file.
I guess there might be some problem with my TAB. After reflashing, the modem software are shown correctly, but it is still not able to register to the network and one very strange behavior is, the device is not very stable. At times when I remove the sim, the device try to start up a couple of times before able to successfully boot, and at times the phone modem still show Unknown (very random).
The conclusion is, it is still no working no matter if the phone software shows unknown or otherwise.
Have you try insert your sim card to others phone?
I face the same problem once with my Htc HD2. Unable to detect my simcard.
Once I try to use my simcard on other phone, the same problem happen.
Meaning my sim card is broken. I go to the center and change with new simcard.
I do ask the customer service how can my sim card broken?, they said its unknow ;P.
BUT my suspect, is due to me always like to change my phone, with the same sim card..haha..at the end sim card broken!!

You tab will boot if your take out your simcard during the tab in ON condition. Its same condition if your sim card started to fail or broken, it will also reboot since its consider there is no sim card. Its normal condition with all smartphone/tablet.
Although I bought a WiFi + 3G TAB, most of the time the TAB is running on WiFi without sim card. But once a while I might use it with my sim.
My sim seems to be working fine on my Sony Ericsson X1 and I've actually swap two different sims to the TAB and both are showing similar results.
As I know before the Gingerbread upgrade on Kies, there will be an additional icon (sim card icon) if the sim is not inserted. As for my case now, the icon is not shown with the phone software = unknown. Sometimes after a few reboot, the icon reappear and the phone software is shown correctly but still unable to register to the network (although the 'EasyAccess' services on the Maxis sim is shown in the TAB programs).
When I tried another sim and if the phone software is detected, at times the coverage bar will be shown for a few seconds (registering) and goes back to the (/) sign again and attempt a few more times before the phone reboots itself for a couple of times.
I doubt it is a problem with the sim, more towards the TAB, either on the software or the sim slot hardware.
I wonder if anyone else had the same problem or if I am the only ONE...
i think you problem is more on the hardware side bro, if you are under warranty i suggest you visit a samsung service center.
* just don't forget to unroot and remove apps that need root before sending your tab for repair...
But you have the error about the network, and that usually means your access point name is incorrect or not there.
Hello!
I hope I am in the right thread.
My friend asked me to help her out with her tablet.
A Samsung Galaxy Tab p1000 Openline running CyanogenMod stable 9.1.0
Location Philippines
I tried to update the tablet but it is still not detecting the simcard
Do I have to download Odin ?
I want mobile data to work again for the tablet.
Thank you advance for any advice

Samsung Galaxy SM-N950F/DS stucked in boot loop, possibly wrong firmware installed

Hello dears,
One of my clients called me related to a problem with their Note 8 device. At first it sounded like a typically bricked device problem but after taking a closer look on some of the screenshots they've sent me with the device it really got me confused as to what had happened to the device. I don't have the device with me at the moment so the screenshots is all I have until the client arrives but I'm posting this thread in hopes to find out if there is any possibility of fixing the device so that I put the client on the road for nothing.
From what I understood the client tried rooting the phone and it got into a boot loop afterwards (I don't know the exact process of rooting that they've tried, that's all they said to me), they also said that they've been with the device to someone else afterwards and they've tried a few times to resoft the device with some ROM variants on the phone but they've "failed"to fix the device in the end and my client got bored of waiting for them to keep trying.
I thought the phone may be soft bricked and I asked them for some screenshots with the device so that I can see what firmware they were running and also a screenshot with the phone model details on the back and so they sent the screenshots to me and a few extra more.
Now, the first thing that I see is that the phone strangely runs or has ran a DIFFERENT firmware version for a DIFFERENT MODEL. If you look at the screenshots posted bellow, you will see that the phone is a SM-N950F/DS but runs an N9500 Firmware/ROM (Chinese I guess). I am confused, I haven't see that before. Is it possible that the guys working at the phone before managed to install a wrong firmware and hard brick the phone even more?
I see that the ROM that is currently shown on the phone is indeed an official/stock one from Samsung so I also wonder if that's how the phone actually came out on the shelf since the client told me that they've bought it from around that region. But still, the rom is clearly made for another model from the one written on the back of the phone so I don't really know what to say I haven't met with this issue before.
Also, judging by the screenshots offered what would be the steps you guys would make to fix the phone (if possible) and what exact rom version should I flash via Odin if anyone has an idea.
Should I flash the stock N950F/DS firmware or the N9500 CHC/TWN stock firmware? What would be the steps to bring this device back to life ? I appreciate your patience and I hope that the phone can still be revived.
Here are the screenshots (I apologise for the quality but this is what the client has sent at the moment).

He has flashed the wrong filmware/rom.
The fact it can boot into recovery means it is not hard bricked. You should be able to just flash the N950F DS filmware to fix it, which you can get from Sammobile or Updato.

Excuse for asking this but I have two questions:
Could you tell me wich exact version of the firmware should I go for (as there are many versions) and also will the bootloader accept the firmware by flashing it via Odin or are there any chances it may give some dm-verifcation failed error ?
Thank you very much.

Just use the latest version of filmware. It is still rootable if the guy wants to try again.
Just find out what country and network he is on and you can use the advanced search to find the filmware.
I am no expert, so I am unable to answer that question but it should be fine...

Thank you, when my client arrives I will try to flash the N950FXXS5DSB4 (since we're in Romania here).
I take it the DS = Dual Sim and the B4 means that the ROM was created for the version 4 of the bootloader on wich the phone currently runs on. The rom is carrier free and the version is Android 9 (Pie), March 11, 2019).
I hope the bootloader won't reject it. I will come back with an update afterwards.

The DS doesn't refer to Dual Sim, it's just part of Samsung's versioning scheme. The single and dual SIM variants of the Note 8 use the same firmware.
As you said the device is carrier free, then the "ROM" CSC is the one you want to go for, and the latest version of that (DSE5) is available via SamFirm for the "INS" CSC - although you would be getting the "INS" version, it's a standard one that contains multiple CSCs within it, including "ROM".

I managed to flash the same ROM that it's written on the recovery menu via Odin but after passing (takes 5 minutes) and gives no error it boots into recovery. Same thing if I extract the PIT file from CSC and check the re-partition. It passes but it boots me into the recovery menu after restart. If I restart normally afterwards it still loops to the logo and restarts. It shows the logo, vibrates twice, reboots and keeps doing the same thing. Flashing with the latest ROM for SM-N950F/DS (N950FXXU6DSE5) will give the error Re-partition failed in Odin.
Any ideas ?

Similar Issue
Hi, almost similar issue here.
I just bought a second-hand Note 8, but there are discrepancy between the variants. The seller said that he got the phone in Singapore, and the back sticker and etching said it is SM-N950FD. On the Settings > About Phone, it said the model number is SM-N950F/DS/DS. However, the Recovery said that this phone is greatlteks, running N950NKSU3BRA1 and the download mode is in Korean and the Product Name is SM-N950N running custom binary, with FRP Lock and OEM Lock = OFF. Carrier ID is LUC.
I need to return this values to stock so that I can upgrade to Pie. Please advise on which stock ROM should I install in this phone.

Looks like you have a refurbished note 8 korean model N950N with replaced body and faked software N950F .
The motherboard is Korean so don't try flash N950F software on it will fail in odin it won't work.
Only N950N firmware will work only on your phone and you can flash android 9 pie but be careful if you flash N950N firmware you will lose N950F software and also dual sim will no longer will work too because possibly your dual sim also converted by software not Hardware. Because there's no N950N Exists with dual sim model.

European (specifically German) phone not getting any updates?

Hi,
i bought the M31 from amazon.de in March 2020 and since then i haven't even received a single update.
The current security revision is at February 2020 which is just sad.
Anyone else witnessing the same issue?
EDIT: This issue occurs when the SIM inserted is from a country where the specific phone model is not supported by samsung (therefore they don't publish updates for that country.).

I had the same issue on 2 phones. Softwareinformation was AUT/DBT, AUT/DBT. Had to insert German SIM in first slot, do a full wipe data/cache and start setup from scratch. At begin there comes a message that SIM was changed and if to adopt the phone to this, confirm and check after first boot. My software information now is DBT/DBT, AUT/DBT and I get all updates.
PS: Someone suggested before doing this to remove the Google accounts and to clear cache/data of "Google-Dienste-Framework" (you find them in Apps when you select to show system apps). I have done it but do not know if it is really needed.
Good luck.
Hi thanks a lot for you reply: It led me to do some research and i think the issue is that the phone is being used on another European country (CSC -> EUR) but the firware is German. On top of that, it seems that there is no available firmware for my CSC (EUR) (picture attached).
So it seems that the OTA updater is looking for a firmware with the "EUR" CSC code and can't find anything, right?
Is there a way to force the "active CSC" to be "DBT" so i can get the updates? Unfortunately i can't easily get my hands on a German SIM card (i've ordered one off of ebay.de, i'll update this post once i get it).
You are correct. In my case AUT stands for a Swiss SIM (open provider).
What you still could do is manually update using ODIN and the latest DBT firmware. But it would not change the CSC settings in your phone.
Once you have your SIM (or can even just borrow a SIM for that process) this is my proposal to change the CSC settings:
- insert German SIM in slot 1 and start phone
- sign out of Google accounts
- wipe memory in system app Google-Dienste-Framework
- factory reset and restart
- first thing, skipping all sign in to Google or anything, again wipe memory in system app Google-Dienste-Framework
- delete data and cache in recovery
- factory reset and restart and check CSC information
- if it changed to DBT/DBT for slot 1 you should get OTA updates from now on
Important: whenever asked to accept changes because new SIM was detected then yes
Later, when you put your non German SIM in slot 1 and similar message appears - do not accept a modification
Update for anyone having the same issue or my future self:
Finally my German SIM arrived and it all worked out. I am now receiving OTA updates.
Steps done:
- Inserted German SIM to slot 1
- Factory reset phone
- Phone booted up, skipped the setup procedure, only connected to wi-fi
- Checked for updates: They were finally found, installed and the phone rebooted
- Inserted my "regular" SIM into slot 2 and turned-off SIM 1 (from "SIM manager" in settings) since i don't want to use it.
So now, the phone's service provider SW version is DBT/DBT,EUR/DBT, and therefore should keep receiving updates from the German (DBT) region.

Question CSC for UK

I can't remember what CSC code the UK Samsung tab s8 ultra came with I flased the EAX firmware and don't have the oem unlock option I've waited 7+ days.
Does anyone know what CSC I should be using in the UK?
If someone has an unmodified UK Samsung Tab S8 Ultra, you can find this information in Settings > About Tablet > Software Information > Service provider software version
@fkofilee or @Redswap007 any help for @Jono0907?

What is CSC Region Code and how check witch is in my Samsung Galaxy device?
CSC is short for "consumer software customization" or "country specific code". CSC is an essential component of Samsung firmware files and contains custom settings, system configurations, locations and geographic elements such as system language, APN settings, logos, and carrier applications...
www.hardreset.info
BTU and XEU are 2 of the used CSCs previously for the UK...
These have been compiled into the EUX CSC
Also for OEM Unlock.
EUX Software would be ideal But also you need to sign in with a Samsung Account and also if 4G / 5G Edition you also need to put your SIM in.
Then it should make it show up. Had same issue as you before.
This is what i have on mine. By the way, received the keyboard last week
Yeah this is really weird been on about 8 days now still not showing up did a odin flash of the EUX firmware signed in to Google and Samsung and have been using it daily. I did have the XAR firmware after sorting out another problem but can't see why that would be stopping it.
I just took a screenshot of download mode to see if it has anything I'm missing
Really stuck without being able to root this tablet stupidly relocked the bootloader trying to fix another problem and have never got oem unlock back willing to pay anyone who can help me

Tried a factory reset? If it's a model with a SIM card, try taking the SIM card out, factory resetting, and then connecting to Wi-Fi, then hopefully OEM unlocking will show back up. If it doesn't right away, try rebooting again. If so, then I'd actually re-unlock the bootloader before putting the SIM card back in.
No promises, just suggestions.
WiFi only model Tried 2 different default EAX firmwares each time waiting over a week for oem unlock after flashing in case the "rmm" problem is still there

Maybe call Samsung to try to find a solution? What's RMM? Remote Monitoring Management?
rmm state was from the original error. When i rooted the tablet originally i rebooted and the Tablet said it would not boot because it thought the tablet was on finance and you aren't meant to root tablets until you fully own them. I bought the tablet without finance. Stupidly relocked the bootloader to try and fix it and haven't been able to unlock it since. Do we know if the american Tab S8 Ultras (Non 5G) can be unlocked? Trying to rule out if it was running an american firmware at one point.

Yes, my American Tab S8 Ultra Wi-Fi model was able to be unlocked as normal. I just had to connect to Wi-Fi, then OEM unlocking was available in Developer Options (before connecting to Wi-Fi, OEM unlocking wasn't even displayed as a grayed out option).
Then I unlocked the bootloader and rooted and all is well.
Sign in with a Samsung Account and then it should appear. Happens to me.
Still no luck Was already using my samsung account its connected to my phone/earbuds and all synced together but tried removing it and creating a new account with no luck. Samsung wont touch it because its been unlocked already. Not sure what to do now.
Reflashing with SM-X900_EUX_X900XXU1AVCD_X900OXM1AVCD_X900XXU1AVCD_X900XXU1AVCD.zip Now this will be the 4th time ive reset it and waited 7 days.
The only weird thing I have done other than relocking it stupidly was the one firrmware i flashed was XAR. I don't know if this is causing me problems.
Did you ever find a solution to this? Having the same problem with a UK tab s8 ultra and can't get the oem unlock option to show up no matter what I do
Try 7 days wait after reset
Itll eventually appear. Also make sure you sign into a Samsung Account and it should also help
Same issue before.
