V40 not working with AFT on MacBook Pro - LG V40 Questions & Answers

I just got an LG V40 on T-Mobile. I have a 2015 MacBook Pro on Mojave that i had no problem using Android File Transfer with my Note8 or my LG G7. I cannot seem to get my V40 to connect to the MacBook Pro to transfer data via USB. Is there a good free alternative to Android File Transfer, or does anybody know the right way to get them to connect. I've tried all the troubleshooting steps on the AFT site that I've found.

SHAREit seems to work pretty well. I don't have any Apple products but I'm able to transfer files with coworkers that do.

via USB?

Android File Transfer is working just fine for me. I also have the 2015 MB Pro 13", on Mojave 10.41.1.
Was also functioning fine on my previous phone, an LG G6.
Have you tried uninstalling, then reinstalling AFT?
Does your V40 connect fine to a Windows PC?
Tried different USB ports or cables?

I've tried several different cables. It connects just fine to my surface book. I've uninstalled/reinstalled AFT multiple times. Installed the LG Driver. Wiped the phone. The computer will see the phone just not as a drive. It's like AFT is the only thing that can't see it

What settings do you have checked in developer mode? I've tried with Debugging on and off, MTP and PTP. I keep getting this feeling that i'm missing something.

I actually forgot to even activate developer mode when I first got the phone a few weeks ago, so all settings there are untouched

Help please! Vario III not connecting after hard reset.

Hi there, I could really use some help.
I had to reset my T Mobile Vario III and now when I try and sync it up to my pc, it can't even connect.
I get a "found new hardware" wizard and if I run that, I get this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I can't see what the problem is as surely a hard reset takes it back to "just out of the box" condition? Therefore, I should be able to sync it up again as I did when I bought it......
......shouldn't I?
Any help most gratefully received.
BUMP
Anyone?
C'mon folks, I'm in pain here.
Just when I'd got it running nicely with some super progs and apps courtesy of my xda buddies, I did a hard reset for a particular reason and now I'm in PDA-limbo.
Everything else is working as per a regular hard reset, BTW.
So what's the prob? Do I need to download drivers or what?
The only thing I can think of is that the RNDIS driver on the PC has become corrupt or is missing.
All I can suggest is that you uninstall activesync from your PC, restart it and then re-install it if not with the very latest version which should be on the CD that came with your device. Restart your PC again and then and only then connect your VIII and see if the PC picks it up this time.
Good Luck and let us know your progress
C.
Thanks Stinkey, I'll try that when I get home (in the queue at the bank at the mo), hopefully it'll sort it out.
Either that or plug your sync cable into a different USB port, failing that (on yor PC whilst phone connected) go to Control panel, System, Hardware, Device manager and under Network adapters, uninstall the Windows Mobile-based device, then after that, unplug your phone then re-connect it. Try a PC restart if it does not connect after driver install.
Hope that works.
Thanks for the advice gents but sadly it's been to no avail.
Can anyone suggest a next approach?
BUMP.
Anybody able to help?
The fact that your PC is seeing your mobile as a different unit after a hard reset is a puzzle!
Are you using orig firmware or a cooked ROM?
Original.
Thinking about it, the problem didn't occur immediately after the reset.
I had it connected and synced up, then something happened - I can't remember what, either the pc timed out and went to standby or "the Mrs" had to log on to her side of the pc - and something got pi$$ed off along the line, hence these problems.
I'm thinking more that the pc is at fault somehow 'cos the Vario is working perfectly otherwise.
Then try a system restore to before the problem happened.
I have seen on other threads that one guy had a faulty usb cable and another had this problem when going thru a USB hub instead of direct to the PC.
Maybe the USB port you are using cannot supply enough current. The Kaiser starts to charge as soon as it connects and can drop out the USB port if it can't support it and this may start to happen at a later date if the USB port power supply circuit dies.

[FIXED]Laptop USB mouse stopped working...

Okay, so this is my problem. I tried installing LG USB drivers on Sony Vaio NS230E running Windows 7 Ultimate to update my phone (some LG java phone) this seems to have started right after the installation, my USB mouse stopped working. Touchpad still works. I tried another mouse, same thing. Another USB port, same result. Rebooted, same thing. Uninstalled the new driver, nothing. I even restored the laptop to a point in 2 days ago but still it doesn't work!
I tried a USB flash disc on the device, works. Tried my phone (Nexus S) mount and reads. I had 2 mouses that the device already knew, when I connect them, the device says nothing, but the mouse light up. I tried connecting my wireless mouse to it, but on connection, it says USB device drivers not installed. Unrecognized device.
Please help, I really don't wanna 'wipe' and 'reflash' Windows...
UPDATE: The problem is fixed. I don't know why.
Ummmmm.....I'm no help, sorry.
Try opening the Device Manager and find any USB host controllers or any USB mouses or any USB devices listed that might have to do with a mouse or pointing device. right click on it, properties, and roll-back driver. You can also try updating the drivers. If that doesnt work just download the drivers from your laptop manufacturer's Website.

1 mouse, 2 mice ;-)
Did you download the drivers from the laptop maker's website?
Wait. Sorry. I had a mind block and was thinking you need USB port drivers lol.
Try connecting the mouse, go to windows update, and check custom updates. Or whatever its called.

Okay, this got really weird. I inserted a Windows 7 disc and had the computer boot from disc. And in the Windows installation wizard, the USB mouse STILL DOESN'T WORK! I'm clueless. Could this be a hardware problem?

Yea. Sounds like a hardware problem. Does the mouse work on another computer?

So boot into fastboot and connect it to your windows PC with a known working usb cable. What is the result of "fastboot devices"? Also does the device show up in device manager?

Well if you have ruled out cables, computers and USB ports, like it sounds that you have - it is most likely a USB port issue on your device (or something motherboard related.)

Check there is no obstruction on the port. Loose pins etc. But I would send it for repair to be honest.

Phone charges fine but not seen by computer

I have a Verizon MOTO X 2014 32GB working almost fine, only that it doesn't get recognised when plugged into a computer. No sound, nothing except that it somehow still charges either plugged into a charger or a computer via USB but never gets recognised like MTP or PTP or whatever, just charging only. I've searched everywhere to see if anyone else has seen this issue before and if there's a fix for it before posting this here. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks.

Did you try tapping the 'Charging only' displayed in a notification when you connect USB cable to PC(if you're running MM). If its not the case then maybe try replacing your Data Cable, as it may also be the culprit

Running Lollipop 5.1 and I've tried everything that can be done from any setting on the phone. I have also tried several USB cables with no luck yet. Thanks.
Have you tried changing it to MTP under developer options?

Under developer options,
Please where exactly is this setting located in Developer Options? I can't find anything related to it in mine. Thanks.
Just realized you were running v5.1
Try this:
To enable USB file transfer go to “Settings” > “Storage” > Tap on the three vertical dots in the top-right corner of your screen > “USB computer connection” > Tick the box next to “Media device (MTP)

Question I can't connect my redmi note 10 pro to my acer AN515-43 notebook via USB

the behavior is repeated both in Windows 10 and in endless operating systems. My device is a Xiaomi redmi note 10 pro

yes i did it, i even tried it with 2 other xiaomi phones.
on other computers it works normally.
only on Acer AN515-43 that does not.
I’ve already spoken with Acer support, but they don’t know what’s going on.

Did you reinstalled USB Drives and install latest one.
otherwise try to use another PC.
when it's happening to me always try another PC and works.
I solved my USB connections problem by using Stock Windows 10 without any mod or custom builds...
Good luck with it

I would try then;
1. Check for updated drivers from Windows Update
2. If not, try updating drivers with snappy tool;
https://sdi-tool.org/download/ (sdi lite)
3. If still not, backup ur personal laptop data and clean install win10
I tried these three options, but I still have the same problem.
