[TIP] for those of you having problems with fingerprint scanner - OnePlus 6T Guides, News, & Discussion

I've been using this not that for a couple of days and it's been working beautifully for me
Like many of you I've been having problem with the fingerprint scanner not working fast or not working all the time. this is the trick that has work for me for the past couple of days and I will post update as my usage gets longer
when using the fingerprint scanner try to gradually increase the pressure of your thumb on the screen. What I mean by that is, when the fingerprint scanner icon pops up lightly touch with your finger then gradually increase the pressure. try this a few times and you'll get the hang of it.
My guess is that because or fingerprint scanner is a optical based it's looking for specific pattern but the pattern is not always the same when the imprint is pressed against a glass substrate.
Tried and report back please

I find that it help to add more then one version of each finger. I got like two version of each. It help alot.

Well, that doesn't work anymore in the latest Oxygen version. I tried it yesterday but I got the message that I already made a scan of that finger (and I tried it multiple times) and that I needed to scan a different finger.

It will you just have to get that finger from a different angle. I started with the edge of that same finger and got it to go through.

I tried it again by only scanning the edges of the finger and now I succeeded. Thanks! I always had troubles unlocking my phone with my left index finger but now I scanned it twice I can unlock the phone without a problem! Yeah!

After adding the same finger twice and pushing a little harder I think I perfected it. Your tip on pushing harder DEFINITELY helped!

I also originally did the "scan each finger twice" thing to solve this problem but later discovered that pressing hard during the initial scans and then remembering to press hard during any subsequent unlock gets the most efficient results.
I think we've all been accustomed to just "lightly" touching older scanners and it unlocking near instantaneously. But since this is different tech, a different approach makes sense.

Umm so choosing a different animation made a world of difference is fingerprint read speed.
Not sure if it has something to do with animation, but the non-default one has no animation where the finger touches. That may have been it.

Enable the animation by entering

So I had to reboot the phone and now it's just the green fingerprint sensor. No animation at all. Is that what it's supposed to be? Or should you see some of the flames from the mcclaren?

I (and two other people in the touchscreen dead spot thread) can confirm that this issue is fixed. Those of us whose screens started dropping touches and behaving erratically after a few minutes of use no longer have it occurring after 4.1.2, something I am overjoyed about
I have noticed that the issue of crossing axes while ungrounded still occurs, but that's entirely forgiveable imho since it's so rare that I don't hold the tablet in my hands, especially for multitouch.
The prism issue persists (washed out colours in general and especially after video), but the Prism Toggle app in the market can disable it with root, so it's not a bother for me.
Meh.

I come from the line of thinking that if my screen is darker then it's probably not using as much power, granted that difference may be minimal.
Is there anyway we can modify the layout of the pull-down device settings like the wifi tether icon doesn't seem to work on the Sprint version unless you have a specific data plan so I'd like to either remove it or swap it out with the application that I run for tether

Well, your line of thinking is incorrect. Imagine your phone is on full brightness and you put a piece of tint on the front of the screen. It will appear to be darker right? But in reality, it's just not projecting the light because you have a filter over it. Screen filter is exactly the same thing. There is no battery savings to be had with it.
Toggles will be edited for next release to fix/remove those that don't work or are useless. A

8/08/2013 - Aggressive build (Faster), decreased title font side (now 14). (v1.0)
29/08/2013 - Renamed the title to 'Timer' so that it would fit. (v1.1)
15/11/2013 - Now compatible with the new firmware 2.0 (v2.0) :)
Next update - you suggest me.
Installed fine and works well, Thanks! Very useful app for my Pebble. The title at the top just shows "countdown ti...". This needs changing to two lines so it fits on the screen. If anything, maybe the digits could be a bit bigger.

Seems like a bug in the SDK. I decreased the font size (was 18, now 14) should (fingers crossed) work. Now, it has an aggressive build, meaning the app will now become faster and reduce lags if there were any.

I get that. The app installed fine and works great. However on the first page you can download the countdown time and also a watch face. What's the face for? Is that what the first build was called, and as they progressed the name got changed? That's what it looks like to me, but if it's something different, I can't figure out what. Since it has a different name, I figured I would ask.
Thanks for the response though, all are welcome and helpful.

[App]: Always On Display - All AMOLED Devices

Greetings all,
What is it ?
I found this application in the Goole Play store which simulates the "Always On Display" feature for all AMOLED devices.
It is basically turns all pixels in AMOLED screen into black except the selected pixels for the clock. Yes it works with all kind of screens however it causes battery drain for non AMOLED screens.
Issues:
- Doesn't work well with fingerprint as you need to tap the home button every time you need to open the screen
- Doesn't work with 3rd party lock screen apps.
note:
Please note that I'm not the developer, I just know the developer and I can communicate with him issues.
or you can directly do so in the comments section in the Play Store

I did try it. It consumes slightly more than 1% of the battery ever one hour similar to what S7 and G5 do.
to me it is too much

Unless I'm missing something, I don't see any option to automatically move the clock around the screen. It gives you the option to have it be on the top center or bottom of the screen, but no option to automatically move it around to prevent burn-in.
I would love to be proven wrong, cause I really want this app to work and not burn my screen! But I don't see the option, and thus far it's not moving on it's own...

I have done but the drain tends to be the same either way.
Amplify has had a good impact on my phone but at the moment i don't use that either, for me it's really about the apps that want to constantly update, so facebook, twitter etc.
Is this different with our default clock's "night mode"?
night mode also automatically move the time.
any tap on the screen will return it to the lockscreen, if its locked, returns to the clock menu if unlocked.
Nice app, but could have more customization options, such as changing the battery icon and much more! But i liked of this app
This app is working great on my Pixel XL. Disabled all the gestures for "waking" the phone up as I have fingerprint scanner.

Front camera notification light

I just got my unit. I can get a spining white ring on the front facing camera when I lift to wake with face unlock, but I can not find the option to turn it on for phone calls and messages etc.... I get edge lighting for 10 seconds or so.. I would love to have this option as I saw it active on a random video but I cant find the video again... I am fully updated with the software as well... does anybody have any ideas or know how to enable this feature? Thx!
Not a feature (yet) we all hope that Samsung will do it...
On reddit the consensus is this is a feature that would be in a future update. I saw screenshots from Samsung support confirming this.

The options he gave are still helpful for now though, as not only can you enable the rear flash, but the front screen to flash yellow when you receive a message. It's something at least for now. I just hope Samsung pushes out an update to enable the ring around the camera to be used. Just makes total sense since they removed the LED notification. :fingers-crossed:

The options he gave are still helpful for now though, as not only can you enable the rear flash, but the front screen to flash yellow when you receive a message. It's something at least for now. An update got pushed to my S10e just a bit ago. Might be the one you wanted?
Circle of Light does not exist. The only thing that exist is the possibility as this is the actual screen and not any special hardware. The same edge lighting like concept can be used to illuminate pixels around the camera. If samsung does not do something, let them release the source and give us access to api's. we can do it ourselves. We just need to modify the edge lighting feature to shrink it to camera cutout and increase timings etc. I am feeling so lost without the notification LED. My pre order does not have a cancellation option. If I had I would have cancelled.
Will the ring light has potential burn in risk?
Should be. If you closely take a look at the camera cutout and the front camera animation, you'd see it's a part of the actual screen. So, It have amoled burn in risk unless or if samsung can access the pixels through hardware directly without actually turning on the whole screen.
