LG messaging apk - LG V40 Questions & Answers

Does anyone have the stock LG messaging apk from the v40, sprint models don't come with it and I'm looking to do some snooping.

Facebook app on Market

Whats the difference if there is any with the pre-installed facebook app and the app on the Market?
As the facebook app on the Market says its not been installed, do we have the latest version?
From what I can tell, pre-installed apps don't know about updates. Like Google Maps for example. It's pre-installed on the N1, but I had to manually download the latest version. After installing from the Market, it now knows when there are updates. Just open your app and hit the menu button and see what version you are running. If it's older than the one in the Market, just grab the one from the Market and overwrite your pre-installed one.
thats the thing, the preinstalled version of facebook has no version number, or I just can't find it.
press menu and go into settings, there is no info about version no.
when you install an app from the Market when it came preinstalled on the phone, does it overwrite it (thus not doubling the space it takes on the phone)?
I've been wanting to update a few apps like Facebook and Voice but I'm running out of space and neither are that important to me yet.

it updates/overwrites, it doesn't duplicate the app. The update for Voice makes a big difference over the old one, so do it

Official Google Voice App missing from market

I have a freshly wiped Sprint Hero with the latest OTA updates. Everything I was using on my old phone is available in the Market on this device except for one of the most important ones: Google Voice! I can see a whole host of 3rd party voice apps but not the official one.
Did Sprint remove it or something?

So... you're using Sprint's official software?
It's There
Just did a search in the market under "google" and the official google voice app is there.
Yeah, it's showing up now. I guess they were doing maintenance on the Market yesterday or something >_>
The google voice app was updated sometime this morning or last night so they could've pulled it temporarily.

^-- Came here to say that.
I just noticed that there was an update for it in the Market. Version 0.4.0.12, to be exact. Something about "direct access numbers" and faster dialing. Time to figure out what that's about...

Not seeing voicemails after migrating

I recently migrated from the Evo 3d to the HTC One. I've got everything migrated except my VMM. Has anyone else had this problem?
Evo 3d: Sprint VVM version T.5.3.3.20 (cannot upgrade further)
Archived all my voicemails.
Copied /sdcard/smvmm folder from the Evo 3d to the HTC One to /sdcard/smvmm folder
HTC One: Sprint VVM version T.5.3.3.22 (cannot upgrade further)
0 messages found in the Archive folder.
Archived a voicemail and confirmed it is still using the /sdcard/smvmm folder.
Force closed voicemail and cleared the data. Ran Voicemail to go through the setup again. Still can't see the archived messages.
I'm really at a loss here. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone have success moving voicemails from an Evo 3d to an HTC One?
If it matters, I'm also running:
viperROM One v1.0.3 rom
3.4.10Wolfpack kernel
Will attempt going back to stock when I have more time to test there. Just hoping there are others out there with some insight to this first.
Thanks
Are you using Google Voice?

Haven't used Google Voice on either phone
I don't have my Evo with me right now, but when I get it again, I'll try to upload one of the archived voicemails
It looks like T.5.3.3.22 -> T.5.3.3.20 migration works fine, but going to .22 causes a FC and moves the vnotes files to \sdcard\smvvm\corrupted and rebuilds them. Once those files are rebuilt, it seems the AMR files are no longer referenced for the VVM app. I'm beginning to think this is a compatibility issue
I've tried to install T.5.3.3.22 on the Evo, but the installation failed.

Gallery app flaw

I'm not sure how many people moved from the Nexus 4 to the HTC One, but if you have, I'm sure you've used Google Plus/Picasa to sync your photos on stock Google. If you're like me, you even deleted those photos off your Nexus 4, but the gallery app still gave you full access to them, as if they were on your phone (sharing, viewing, and even editing cloud [Picasa/G+] based photos).
My issue now is that I'm not able to do any of this. I'm able to access my G+ albums through the stock gallery app on the HTC One, but that's about it. I can't see my camera roll, I can't edit the photos, I can't share them, etc. There is a clear distinction between the photos that are actually on my phone vs. the ones on my G+ account. Is there a way to overcome this?
I've already looked into getting the 4.2 camera/gallery apk, but I would apparently have to root my phone, which would mean starting over and deleting all my data. Any tips?

Backup all your data then root.
Then you wont lose all your data.

I was considering this, but I'm waiting for stock Android to have IR support before ditching Sense. Anyways, XDA recently released the live wallpaper and camera APKs for the Google Play HTC One/S4, and I installed them. Voila! I have the stock gallery/camera apps! Problem solved
P.S. I was shocked that they worked since my phone is completely stock, not rooted or anything! I read before that the phone needed to be rooted and the camera/gallery apk must be put into the system folder, but all I did was put the APK in my dropbox, allow untrusted sources, and click it directly from my dropbox on my phone. It installed and everything is working perfectly!

Does Photosphere work for you or does it crash?
On my AT&T HTC One with CM10.1 nightly, Photosphere crashes.

I just checked. It works perfectly fine for me (stock Rogers HTC One, not rooted). I even went into the gallery, and after a second or two of "rendering...," the panorama showed up perfectly. It's probably a CM issue.

[app] stock 6.0 contacts and phone app with call blocking

well i havent seen this anywhere yet... so google decided to publish the phone and contacts app in the playstore and then pull them both the same day. im using the phone app (not the contacts app) now and it works great. i just installed it over the existing phone app. im running tmobile mra58x stock rooted. for those of you using custom roms or lollipop; make a backup of your rom and install as a regular apk and report if it works. but as far as i know this is for marshmallow only.
i found the apps here but ill post them below as well.
Instructions
1. make backup
2. download and install as regular apk
3. report back here if it works on your rom/version of android.
PSA: disabling stock dialer app in most roms will disable in call ui. We must keep both phone apps.

on pure nexus there was a zip that replaces both..
but its not working for some other roms
Contact app just went live again on play store
Dude, you're the man. Thank you so much. I love the call block feature. Btw, I took a gamble and didn't backup my rom. I just installed it over my stock dialer like you said and it works perfectly! Thanks again!
Did anybody else's nearby places search stop working on the dialer after this was pushed to the play store?
