[APP][NST/G] WiFi Menu - Nook Touch Themes and Apps

This little drop-down toggle menu saves a few taps for routine WiFi connection and also adds the utility of the WiFi Settings app without actually having it installed.
The first option (see screenshot below) is a simple toggle that bypasses the stock Quick Settings dialog for WiFi. If WiFi is off, it turns it on. If it's on, it turns it off. No questions asked.
The second option is for those times when you are away from a known WiFi network (Library, Coffee Shop, etc.) and will need to select a network and enter a password. Selecting this option turns on the WiFi radio and takes you directly to the Settings page for WiFi where you can choose a network and sign in. To disconnect you can use the first option.
The best use of this app is to use NookTouch ModManager to assign this app to "clock", which is where the stock WiFi dialog hides. You'll find "clock" at the very end of the list of buttons that can be reassigned with NTTM. If you tap the clock area accidentally, you can dismiss the menu by tapping there again.
Requirements
--As this is a Tasker-generated app (but does not require Tasker to run!) there is a dependency on two library files normally installed with GApps. If you do not have GApps installed on your device, you can still use this app by copying the two attached files into the locations shown below:
/system/etc/permissions/com.google.android.maps.xml
/system/framework/com.google.android.maps.jar
Set permissions for both files to rw-r--r-- and reboot. Without these files resident, the app will not install. If you already have one of my other Tasker-generated apps, you can skip this.
To install:
Download and unzip the file attached below. If you don't need the maps library files, discard them. Otherwise treat as above. Copy the app to your SD card and install or install via ADB from your PC.
Enjoy!

Shortcuts to enable/disable Wi-Fi?

Forgive me if this has been asked before, but are there any shortcuts to enable/disable wifi on the Raphael? I picked up the AT&T Fuze earlier this week and I love it, but I use the wifi fairly often and it is rather tedious to have to go to Settings > Communications > Wi-Fi (from TouchFlo) every time I want to either enable or disable it. Thanks in advance.
I use AEWifitrigger and it works great. Check my signature out for the download.
You could also disable PTT, and then set the PTT button to pop up the CommManager (now pseudo-renamed as Wireless Manager) as a quick way to enable/disable everything.
My XIAMultitheme theme - SaFF has BT and WiFi icons that can be used to start/stop bt or wifi and also show the state.
It is currently a clock plugin (Time - links to alarms, date - links to calendar, email/sms/voicemail/missed calls counters/buttons, BT and WiFi) Feel free to rip my code if all you want is the BT/WiFi buttons in a today plugin.
There are also more states than I have supplied icons for. See the images\common\wifi folder, it has a number of PNGs in it, each one represents a state code (eg 5.png is what shows if the wifi reg key says state 5), so if you find that the icon does not change when you connect to something for example, if we find what state code that is (Which is easy, just add another tag to the XML file to tell it to print the number), we can add a new icon easily.
I am in the process of doing a new VGA version for the raphael - all that needs changing is coordinates doubling in the XML file and double size images need to be supplied.
It currently requires mortscript if you want to hear a sound when you click a button, if you don't require that, all you need is XIAMultiTheme.

MIUI for Beginners

Already flashed MIUI ROM? OK, pick up your phone now, let’s start our happy journey of MIUI ROM.
The first step: selecting apps
Various apps will greatly enrich your cell phone, so firstly let’s select the apps to your taste. Use the Android Market and download what you would like. If you are using a backup app and restoring apps from a previous ROM, only restore the apps and not the data. Otherwise that will create a lot of force close issues.
Tip: How to copy files from the computer to the phone? First connect your phone to your computer via data cable, pull down the notification panel from the top of the phone, click “USB connected”, and then click "Turn on USB storage”.
After copying, do not forget to select the option of “Turn off USB storage”, otherwise "File Manager” in the phone will not be able to find the sd card, as it is being occupied by the computer.
Now I have a lot of apps, how to put them in order?
All apps successfully installed are listed on the desktop, however, they may not be in the order you want, how to put them in order?
Long press an app icon and then you may move it freely. When it is moved to the screen border, the screen will automatically switch to the next screen.
How to add a screen? Use two fingers to pinch on the desktop to enter screen thumbnail mode. Then you may add or delete screens.
How to delete an app? Long press the app icon you want to delete, drag it on top of the trash box and click OK to delete it.
The second step: let's make your phone different.
A phone without style is nothing remarkable, so let’s make your phone different!
Changing wallpaper: Click Menu button on the desktop, select “Change Wallpaper” to replace the wallpaper. In addition to the existing wallpaper in the phone, thousands of pieces of wallpaper are also available online.
Changing theme: Themes make great changes to your interface style. Click “Theme Manager” on the desktop to select the theme you like. Also, more online themes are available online.
Scott's Newest Theme: http://goo.gl/MnqMZ
Selecting ringtones and more: click “Settings” on the desktop to set call and notification ringtones. In “Personalization” under “Personal” tab, you may find more options.
The third step: it’s time for some advanced techniques!
Well, you are no longer a beginner now, so let’s learn some advanced techniques.
Adding widgets on the desktop: press the Menu button on the desktop, select "Edit Mode", and then click the icon on the upper right corner to access the interface of “Add Widgets”. Choose your favorite widget on the top, and then drag it to the screen below.
Using folders to manage desktop apps: in the interface of “Add Widgets”, drag [Folder] to the desktop. You may drag multiple apps into folders to classify them. After opening the folder, you may click the edit icon in the upper left corner to rename the folder.
Using toggles panel to improve efficiency: drag the notification panel down from the top, click "Toggles" to go to the toggles panel (It goes to the toggles panel in default of notice.) On the panel are listed the most commonly used toggles, you may click to quickly enable or disable a toggle. Long press on the icon will launch the settings for that icon.
Guest mode: enable the “Guest Mode” toggle in the panel, and your calls and text messages logs will be hidden, and all installed applications cannot be removed. You may have a try when you need to show your phone to guests or children.
Importing contacts or binding accounts: you may use some apps to import a batch of contacts, or bind Google account directly in "Settings"> "Personal"> "Accounts & Sync Settings" to sync contacts at any time.
How to print screens? Press "Menu" key and "Volume Down" key at the same time to print a screen. The printed image is saved in the directory of MIUI in the SD card.
How to copy files from the computer without using the data cable? In case of a Wi-Fi connection, enter “File Manager” on the desktop, select the tab of "Remote Administration" to start the service, and then you will get an address. Enter the given address on the computer, then you may copy files without using a data cable!

[GUIDE]USB/BT/WiFi Tethering without root

1 · Download and install QuickShortcutMaker and open the app.
2 · Scroll down to Service Program Menu (it may appear as serviceprogramu) and tap on it to expand all the activities under it.
3 · Scroll down to IOT Hidden Menu.
4 · Tap 'Create' - this will create a shortcut to IOT Hidden Menu on your home screen.
5 · Press the Home softkey and locate the new shortcut and tap it.
6 · Tap LTE Settings then tap APN Settings*then tap on*Internet.
7 · Scroll down and search for APN Type.
8 · Tap on APN Type and add following APN type to it ‘dun‘ separating it with a comma (no spaces, and no single quotes)
9 · To save these settings you need to hold and down Multitasking/recent or the Overview button on the navigation bar, this will bring up the option to save your settings.
10 · Tap Save.
11 · Now go to System Settings, and in the Network select Tethering. Attempt to enable WiFi hotspot or USB tethering if your G4 is connected to your computer by USB cable. If you get the pop-up about needing to subscribe to a tethering package, or “Due to network issues, tethering has been disabled”, you need to go back to your home screen and tap the shortcut again and continue from Step 6, but instead of selecting Internet in the APN settings you will select ‘cinet.spcs’ and add dun to the apn type.
You should now have the ability to enable WiFi, USB and Bluetooth tethering without root access and without PdaNet+ or any other pay apps.

Of course I didn't bother to give you credit. I have never even seen your post until you linked it. Why would I give credit to you if you had absolutely nothing to do with my post?
That's like saying anyone that starts a fire with two sticks should give credit to Cody Lundin because he's used the same method to achieve the end result.
This is pretty much the same method for a bunch of different LG phones that don't allow easy editing of APN settings without root, and I'm pretty certain if you mess around long enough there's ways to do it with Non-LG phones but I've been using this method since the LG Marquee in 2011. I could even post the really long way of using CDMA workshop, but this way is faster.
FYI you can do USB or BT Tether completely stock and nothing on your plan.
Mine is ZVA and IOT QuickShortcutMaker's shortcut does not work. It just says "Application is not installed".
Any suggestion?

The consensus seems to be that you need to downgrade your phone back to ZV6, then use the shortcut maker technique while in ZV6. Then you upgrade to ZV9 and access your running apps where you'll find the shortcut maker still present from running it earlier under ZV6. Pin that window in ZV9. Then upgrade to ZVA. The shortcut maker should still be present in your previous apps, pinned. So, in ZVA, you can access that pinned page to perform the edit to add ,dun and get wifi. I haven't done this, but there is another thread on this site outlining all the steps/tools you use to perform the downgrade (I think it's LGUP and LG flash or something).

Lock access to certain apps and settings

Dear Tasker-Masters,
My goal:
I want to limit the use of certain apps on my son's phone (running CM12.1) using tasker. Some apps (basically games) are time-limited, others shall not be accessible at all.
What I did (apart from deactivating the guest account):
I've defined a profile "No access" that activates when certain apps start (including play store and settings). This profile starts a task calling for a lock screen asking for a code. Locking settings is especially needed to deactivate the option to developer options and root access, access to other appstores, or the device admin section.
What my son did:
He found out, that the locked app appears in the app history. Clicking the locked app in the history immediatly brings up the lockscreen. However, there's a tiny time frame of maybe 0.1 seconds, where the locked app reacts to strokes on the display. This way, it's possible to scroll down the "setting" app until you get to the "security" and "device admin" section, and then to disable tasker from there. Now, profiles cannot read or react to whatever appears in the foreground of the display.
My question:
1. Can you think about a secure way to lock access to android settings? How would that be?
2. is it possible to deactivate the appearence of (only!) the android settings in the app history?
1. Create a profile -> Application -> Settings. This will trigger when someone goes into the settings app (yes even settings its an app).
In the task itself you can just "Go Home".
The task will trigger even if he goes to the settings from the recent app screen.
2. If your phone is rooted then just kill the settings app from running.
If not use AutoInput to press that "kill all" button (unfortunately).
Make sure also that tasker is a device administrator. You don't want your son to "accidentally" uninstall it.
You can't uninstall device admin apps without turning off that setting and he cant go into settings.
I hope these guidelines will help you.

Home / Recent Apps / Notification Drawer stopped working

So today, after loading an app, my Nokia 8 decided to reboot itself. After rebooting, a few things ceased to function.
The Home button no longer worked. The recent apps button stopped working, I can pull down the notification bar however, the settings button and extending the notification bar to show notifications no longer functioned.
On top of this, Google Play stopped functioning with regards to installing software and you will notice that you cannot access the developer options anymore (as well as all your personal settings being reset!)
Was at a complete loss at what to do... I managed to install the Nova Launcher from an apk file from there accessed the short cuts to the Setting Wizard and re-ran it.
You can re-run the setting with the same email address and as soon as it's finished, everything should be working back to normal. You may need to reset a few preferences (such as keyboards etc / glance screen etc) but at least all the buttons work again.
Step instructions:
- Download Nova Launcher. If you cannot from the google play store, search for it on Chrome and download an apk version
- Install it (you may get a pop up advising you need to let apps installed from chrome, go to settings and allow it)
- Once installed, click on Open. This should launch the Nova Launcher
- Long press anywhere on the screen
- Choose Widgets.
- Look for the Activities widget and hold and place it anywhere on the screen.
- Scroll down to Setup Wizard. There's two, one that's "Setup Wizard" and the other "SetupWizard" without a space. Choose the first. There should be an option under it called ".SetupWizardUpgradeActivity". It might be slightly different for you pending the version OS you have but that's what came up for me.
- Select that to create the widget shortcut then click to open.
- This will bring you to the setup wizard and then just click Next all the way through (turn off any preferences you may have in the past)
And voila. Back to normal afterwards!
Note: You don't need to use Nova Launcher as your default launcher. You can even uninstall it if you want.
Works!
Thank you, this totally worked!
I think Skype crashing and crashing the phone caused this for me. It's getting an uninstall as a special thank you.
Cheers,
Peter
Please help! I don't see any option for setup wizard!
