Whatsapp upload problems - Huawei Mate 20 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

Facing a unique problem (which hasn't apparently appeared in any other discussion forums):
- I cannot upload / send photos/documents/videos to other whatsapp friends. It freezes after uploading some of it (sometimes 4-5%, sometimes 50-60%, it's random).
- similarly, my chat backup to google drive freezes while trying to upload
I am non-rooted, on EMUI 9.0.0.126, have performed wipe cache, have uninstalled and reinstalled whatsapp and yet the problem persists. Which makes me wonder if it's some phone setting. I have set battery management to manual for whatsapp, so it's probably not even that.
Any help/pointers would be appreciated.

I had a similar issue. Uninstall whatsapp and delete the backup from gdrive. Then reinstall whatsapp. I would advise to take a backup of the whatsapp folder before removing it though

Tried that. But uploads still don't go thru. Weird.

How to restore messages after flashing ROM

Hi guys
I recently flashed "update-cm-7.2.0-RC1-umts_sholes-KANG-signed" with the google apps "gapps-gb-20111216-signed" and i followed all the steps from here http://www.mrmuh.com/2012/01/update...torola-firmware-to-cyanogenmod-7/#comment-791.
However i ran into a few bugs,
1. titanuum backup didnt restore all of my apps, it kept freezing while going through some apps soo i had to close it and reboot, a few times of that and like 15 of my apps dissappeared from the list.
2. how do i restore my messages, i did the titanium backup and nandroid stuff but i still can find a way to restore my messages? CAN you help me?
i
1. Use mybackuproot next time. Has never failed me to save and restore APK's and Data, as long as its the same (ie, less reliable if you switch from Froyo->GB or GB to ICS but GB to GB is perfect).
2. Might be too late, I'm not sure if Titanium Backup does save txts but if it does (and you checked the box or whatever to back up txts) i hope someone else can help you. I use GoSMS's backup feature. I find it's even handy to have even when you still prefer the stock sms app due to the fact that it can do both manual and automated back up. It'll even send the file to your gmail for you periodically.

This app is also great for backing up and then restoring SMS. It neatly backs up your txts to a separate SMS folder on your gmail account, automatically. Very minimal impact on battery (of course, if you set it to backup immediately every time or frequently this changes, 12-24 hour periods seems fair to me)

[Q] Dialer started crashing today

Updated firmware, re-rooted and downloaded contacts from Titanium backup which was fine until this morning. Now whenever I move to the people page it crashes. It's showing just the one contact which I can't make out which I suspect it causing the issue. Ive tried re-downloading backup, clearing dialer data, re-importing from previous phone but no avail. Any idea's please .. a little annoying having a phone with no contacts

Contacts Taking forever to Load

Whenever I open up my contacts app, it takes an eternity for them to actually show up. Because of this, my dialer, hangouts and anything else that needs contacts can barely function. Pictures show up sporadically in hangouts and it is an overall annoyance. Hangouts didn't even work until they updated it again but it is starting to revert to not being able to load conversations anymore. This has made my phone largely unusable. I have already factory reset it and the problem persists. Is there some wort of Google server work going on right now? I would think it wouldn't last as long as this problem has for me. Any help is appreciated. Another thing to not is that Android Core Apps and Google Services are my main sources of battery drain.

Facebook messenger notification missing

So recently, i stopped getting notification from facebook messenger standalone app. I've tried everything including clearing data/cache, uninstalling/reinstalling older versions APK, resetting app's preferences (data usage, notification preferences), checking notification option "on" in every possible menu and factory resetting my phone. I do receive notification from facebook, whatsapp, snapchat and kaokaotalk, but just not the messenger app. I can see the message count on the icon, and that is the only way i can tell i have a message. I have read many posts, but no one seems to be able to describe the problem clearly. I think the problem could have been derived from greenify/clean master, but i don't remember hibernating messenger or any other push services, however even if i did, i factory reseted my phone ... Any help would be appreciated. I am currently using note 5.

Can't send SMS after Android 10 update

Hello,
I have an unrooted, p30 pro Canadian model vog-l04. I just got the automatic update to Android 10 but now I am unable to send SMS messages. I can receive them fine but can't send. I have tried everything in the list below. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Cleared the system cache in recovery mode
Checked SIM card
Cleared network configuration (reset network settings)
Force closed messaging app
Cleared messaging app cache.
Uninstalled messaging app updates
Updated messaging app
Rebooted
Edited contact phone numbers
Confirm Message Center Number is correct
Checked voice calling and mobile data
Deleted old messages conversations
Tried sending from different SMS apps.
I really don't want to do a factory reset if I can help it! Is there anything else I can try?
Thank you!

Honestly, although you don't want to, after a major OS upgrade a factory reset is always advised, a vast majority of the time it leaves behind rubbish files which cause inexplicable problems like this one that just cannot be fixed any other way.
The only other thing I can think (but doubt) that occasionally happens upgrading to 10, is the APN settings password needs fixing, but that usually causes a no data problem rather than SMS, but worth a look
Thanks for your reply. For anyone else who has this problem, I managed to fix it without a factory reset, thanks to this post here. It's as simple as downloading huawei backup from the play store, which I think I had previously removed. SMS now works fine

Thanks so much - I had tried what I thought was everything to fix this!!! Reinstalling Huawei Backup did indeed instantly fix it.
