LG V30 Lockscreen EXTRA Weather Animations Enabler - LG V30 Themes, Apps, and Mods

EDIT #2:
mrsubway said:
Just so you all know, there's a Magisk module to enable the weather animations as well. It was called All LG Weather Effects. Sadly, it doesn't seem to be in the repo anymore. I have the zip if anyone would like it.

Flash in Magisk as a module.

ChazzMatt,
Everybody stop whatever you are doing, revert to the stock app, add
ro.product.brand_dsny=true
to your build.prop and reboot.
The original apk checks for this line and by default this is false. Just discovered this today on my lg g7 and John confirmed it's working on the V30 too. You're welcome!

LG V30 Lockscreen EXTRA Weather Animations Enabler
All credits go to @xpirt and @TotallyAnxious. All I have done is upload a mirror and created this thread so people can find it easier.
_______
Stock LG Weather Animations that show on lockscreen in stock firmware are rain and snow, but LG designed others which are in the firmware but NOT enabled (clouds, sun, fog, etc).
mkpcxxl said:
I can't understand why LG has weather animations in the software and leave them deactivated apart of rain and snow.
All the other animations (sun, fog, cloudy and thunderstorm) are really nice -- but until a dev here will release a flashable zip for oreo with the changes we need (like @xpirt -- the creator of the famous fulmics roms) did for v11m nougat for the V30) we won't see them.

Dev @xpirit enabled them on Nougat for V30. And due to this request above, he has now updated them for Oreo. Thank you!
Then @TotallyAnxious has created a TWRP-flashable Magisk zip file, which she combined into her excellent Anxious V30 mod (which also has a lot of other enhancements).
However, THIS is the standalone version of the extra weather animations enabler mod, and should work for ALL V30. @TotallyAnxious was nice to create this TWRP-flashable zip for just the weather animations.
You must have rooted stock Oreo firmware.
You must have the lockscreen weather animations enabled in Settings.
Flash this zip file with TWRP, wipe caches, reboot.
Should work on every V30 variant, as long as you have rooted stock firmware AND have the lockscreen weather animations enabled in the first place. This just gives you ALL the animations possible, instead of only rain and snow.
This will either work for you or it doesn't. So, no support for requests "can you make it do this or that?" See conditions above.

There is a little problem on my H930 with V21o ROM, after a reboot animations don't work. I think, but I'm not sure it's because the apk is not from this rom.
When I delete the dalvik cache in TWRP and reboot it works again.
So it's not perfect but much better than to live without the animations.

I've now attached it to that post as well as post #1 in this thread. If you can't download from XDA forums thread, then I don't know what to do.

Animations worked for me but for some reason its not compatible with Whiskeyomega´s Mod.
Tried to mod first and flash then animations and otherwise - in both cases i have no audio anymore and cant start poweramp f.e. ("audo engine wasnt able to start")

There's ways to modify apks on the device. Instead of providing the modded apk, why not use one of the templates to flash a zip that modifies the apk on device? This way we can use with upgrades and whatnot

I'm not a Dev and @TotallyAnxious does not wish to support this standalone mod. She already has this functionality combined in her Anxious V30 mod. She only created this standalone as a favor to the person who instigated the @xpirt update of modded apk from Nougat to Oreo.
I started this thread with @TotallyAnxious permission, with the understanding it's "as-is". However, if you have a better way of doing this mod to be compatible with all V30 variants and wish to do so, I'm very happy to let you.

That would still require support. Ensuring the on device deodexing worked with each update.

Oh yea patching is always better than replacing imo. I know there's ways but I've never done it. However if all people involved in this allow me to attempt to try to patch on device instead ill take over support of a standalone.

You're making additional scripts to make the file modifications to the app files during flashing, then injecting them into the apk?
I'm pretty sure you'll need to deodex on the fly to do that. Your idea for script editing individual files on the fly is a good idea but the deodexing is gonna be a pain unless you're aware of a tool/mehtod I'm not.

Regarding the message bubble design you requested. In order tho have light text on a dark bubble requires decompiling/recompiling the Whattsapp apk and editing the xmls to change the text color. I have tried that in the past, but with little success .. as Whattsapp doestnt seem to be able to recompile properly with the conventional decompiling methods. That is why you will see most mods have only black text on lighter bubbles. Not so easy to do an inverse design.

I am well aware of how to decompile and recompile apks.
The issue is with the Whattsapp apk recompiling after editing the Styles.xml within the res values folder. As many themers have found, there is an issue with recompiling WhatsApp apk after performing such edits. No one seems as yet able to successfully recompile the apk and alter the message bubble text color. You are doing well if you can change the text to inverse using ApkTool.
I myself prefer APK Manager than ApkTool as its command line structure is much better laid out and has more options.

Are you able to change the black bubble text to white (within the speech bubbles)....?
The trouble lays in that part of the modifications.
I have yet to see anyone successfully recompile the Whatsapp.apk (myself included) and have the changes (black text to white) actually work after finalization.
Many have tried editing both the Style.xml and Color.xml.. but the it just don't take after recompiling. The person who cracks this is going to make everyone happy.

Did you set Permissions to all ?

I love your customizations Yorzua, the best around!
BTW, I installed a modded version of tweetdeck thanks to you Yorzua and I followed the same steps as you did and it worked flawlessly.
Downloaded apk to my Nexus S SD Card, then I open *Root Explorer* (you can use any file explorer with root capabilities: Script Manager - ES FIle Explorer - ROM Toolbox) changed mounting to writeable and moved the modded app to /system/app ..... then changed permissions to file so it reads: rw--r--r--
After doing so, I rebooted my phone open the app drawer and app was there, clicked on it and it works as it is supposed to.
Can you also make a BBMessenger look-a-like..??

Major Credits to Robbie Hood for making this Rom and to Ficeto for making the awesome Rom Customiser and the Ota app
OTA visuals (and updates) are bound to certain format rules that I will explain in the following posts.
All things posted in here will first be tested and evaluated before being uploaded to OTA
please be advised that mods are not to include complete framework-res.apk, SystemUI.apk, SecSettings.apk or android-policy

OTA visuals
Visuals are zips containing images and XML files from apk that are to be changed.
Format for zip name is simple, just try to describe what the mod does, if mod is a variation of existing mods use same format as existing ones.
The .theme in the name is no longer needed.
Inside zip you put name of apk (without .apk). Mods can contain more than one apk!
Also put in the root op the zip:
An empty txt file named theme
A txt file called description with a short description of the mod
An image file in JPG format called preview with an image of your mod
put in the rest of the folders like in original apk
Before uploading it please test the mod yourself by putting it on your sd and flashing from RomCustomiser
If your mod fits an existing category please tell us in your post
If you come up with mods that don't have a category yet, please also make a revert mod containing the same images and xml from the original rom so users can get back to that easily
OTA updates
Ota updates can contain apk, mostly used by Dev's to update the Rom.
Can however also be used for fixes that contain an apk like the stock playstore
They are basicaly CWM zips, with some additions:
A txt file named description with a description of the update
An JPG file named preview with an image of the mod (preferable, not compulsory)
Please remember that all system apps go in preload/symplink/system/app
You can use the base zip that I uploaded here

Yes. Also, you have to be using the Alliance Ficeto TWRP kernel. Philz must be missing some of the busybox (/?) instructions that make the theme engine work.

Didn't realize there was a functioning dual boot kernel now. Need to go look at that
Obviously, your setup is totally unsupported as far as Alliance team would be concerned. None of the OTA stuff would ever work. You'd might be better off running Alliance as the main 'phone' ROM and AOSP, CM, whatever, as your SD ROM.
But there is hope for you yet...
You need to pull your framework-res.apk, manually modify the background png, and push framework-res.apk back into /system/framework manually via ADB or whatever file manager is convenient (Alliance ROM Manager comes to mind)
You can follow instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2175160 (except in Alliance ROM, Robbie changed the HOLO background name to background_holo_dark.png and NOT tw_background_holo_dark) :highfive:

Changelog
Code:
Current changelog: -- 14 June
- Added build.prop RAM managment tweaks from @mickeyinid and [user=4517211]@Xileforce[/user]. see link below for the thread.
- Removed /system/app/SecuritylogAgent.apk Hopefully it fixes the Knox screen of death.
6 JUNE
-Reinstalled a free things, should return RAM management back to stock.
- Installed 3 minit battery mod. (www.3minit.com)
-----This will likely cause SystemUI FC when typing decrypt password, I can make a non-3minit version if people are interested.
- File size is larger, I used 7 zip to zip it, no compression.
- Messed with floating.XML, trying to get normal settings menu. It didn't work, but I just left the modified file.
29 May 2015
-More bloat removed.
-No more AT&T locker on first boot.
-I hope all the knox stuff is gone.
-Now should show data icons for Canada (I hate the AT&T ones.) --Maybe not, need to figure out what's causing it not to work.
26 May 2015
Deodexed the /system for easy themeing.
Centered the clock
Made the clock disappear when on lockscreen
Erased the battery icon (I use the "show battery percentage" setting)
Erased the AT&T text in status bar when no icons are shown.
Removed the NFC Icon from statusbar.
Removed the AT&T wifi notification.

FAQ
Q: Where is the Kernel? or Where is the Kernel Source?
A: Since AT&T and Samsung have consipred to lock the bootloader, there is not kernel as flashing anything but stock will probably require an Odin flash to stock.
Q: Any way to get just the SystemUI for use on other DeOdexed ROM?
A: Yes, here you go. SystemUI.apk
Any more, you ask, I'll try answer.

Small update, I have a semi-useless phone for a few days, waiting on AT&T to send me a new one. Mine currently will only get a signal about 25%-50% of the time. I also have some stuff planned with my daughter this weekend, so I probably won't be doing much until I get my new phone and put it through the paces. I had to put stock back on my current S6, and am lazy and don't feel like flashing my ROM back on just to flash stock in a few days . I'll still be around and I'll look into some of the things you guys brought to my attention though.

Downloading now. I'll give a try.
I'm dying to try this, but I'm all pimped out where I am. I dread the two hours to get it where I want, even though I am desirous of your changes... What are the odds a dirty flash would work, coming from Cleanrom? Also, based on the file size, this is largely debloated, is that correct?

It should work. I dirty flashed from CleanROM 1.1 to this one, and it worked fine. I can't promise anything though of course. You can always back up in flashfire and try though.
I'm coming from stock rooted.

As long as you have the OE2 update I would say it should work, but I'm not 100% sure.
It is a bit debloated, mostly I took out anything saying ATT (except the amazon app, I like it lol).
@_Dennis_ is themer working now?

I'm looking at some layers (RRO) stuff. was suggested to me via PM. Samsung uses a version of layers, just need to figure out how close to AOSP it is and if some mods can be done to support AOSP layers. Not making promises this will go anywhere, just what I'm currently messing around with.
I had a problem with unauthorized software installed please reboot quite often not sure what that's about

Can you pleast post unmodified SystemUI.apk ? I want to mod the battery for @s6freak but because you removed the battery it causes a SystemUI fc . Can I ask please where did you mod it ? You can also post just the original unmoded xml/smali if you wish.
Thanks a lot !

Aye, its on my laptop. I can post it tomorrow evening. I changed the values of the battery height and width in an XML file....I think it was the dimens.XML I believe the original values were 15dip. Like I said I'll get you the file tomorrow.

Just center clock as described by ticklefish in the link from OP. And I removed a line about the carrier from the same time as the center clock (status bar.XML) The section commented out in there about Knox was causing systemUI fc if left in, so I commented it out. Otherwise that's all I think I did in systemUI.

Wow great work here Stang!! I know it says ALL CARRIERS, but Sprint is weird, so this will work with the Sprint S6 correct?!
Also, can you please share just the DNA bootanimation? Looks cool as hell.

You probably remember my work the "Missing Link" for the S5? This is just a newer more universal version.
I can see why you would say Sprint is weird, it's not just sprint. All different US carriers have different signalbars as do the international ones. My Tmo has 5 bar with a 4G LTE for data, Sprint 6 the LTE with data star for data and so on for other variants.
Using the installer I changed my statusbar to show Sprint.
Basically to answer the question, yes, it works for Sprint and should work for all the others as well, even Odexed roms will work.
I could make a zip that included all the files to make the DNA custom zip bootanimation, but why, it's already zipped up in 1 file with all the other mods. Lol
I will post it later for you.
I would say you're best to just download this and start playing
See the screenshot, it shows your style data icons (with my touch on them to make it not take all the space) the signalbars are hard to see because it'sit's AOSP style, but it's 6 bars.

1. Yes I do remember you from the S5! That's why I came into this thread bc I knew of your previous great works! haha
2. The reason I ask for the separate DNA bootanimation files is bc the ROM I'm running doesn't support .zip boot files, only original QMG files.
3. Wow that looks great! Takes up much less space, like you said, I like it better than the stock Sprint LTE logo!
Thanks man.

My version also normally only supports qmg bootanimation as well, I have modified bin files that enable zip files to be used.
Although I think I read something about Sprint having even a different name for the qmg files?
What are you bootanimation files named?

As long as ATT models allow the use of aroma it should work fine with ATT as well. It includes mods to change build.prop to changes carriers and even model numbers. I am running Sprint right now on my Tmo device.
Just so everyone knows, this is new initial release and I'm sure will require some tweaking and adjustments to get things perfect so just let me know and I'll work fixes in as fast as possible. Thanks
IMPORTANT INFO, AN ERROR WITH MY SCRIPT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION. WIFI SIGNALS WON'T INSTALL RIGHT NOW. DON'T PICK THEM OR THE WHOLE INSTALL WILL FAIL. JUST PICK OTHER OPTIONS AN YOU'LL BE FINE. I WILL POST AN UPDATE SOON. THANKS
Looks interesting. Will wait for update and try

You didn't by chance get an install log did you? At the end of the install there is a button that asks "save log" click it and it will create a txt file right below the zip on your phone. That will give me details about what happened and help troubleshoot. Just post it here and I'll see. Sorry about that. Going to work the kinks out soon. It's tough making it work for every model and variant.

I have tested it on stock Odexed rom for Tmo. It should work because it is not replacing any apk's, it just changing the images in the existing one via the vrtheme script.
If something fails or you get fc's then use the "ozop_rozop_restore.zip" that is created and placed in the ozop folder of your sdcard. Report back with results please. Thanks
@stangdriver44 here is the txt file for the transition animation. Thanks for checking it out,

Collection of Magisk Modules

Collection of modules for @topjohnwu's Magisk!
General Information
I wanted to make a single thread where everyone can contribute and add modules to serve as a one stop shop for modules until the Magisk Manager gets an xposed-like module downloader. All files are attached in the order that they are introduced.
My Modules
Busybox Installer - Credits: YasadSharaf for the binaries
The installer detects what architecture (ARM/ARM64, x86/x86_64, MIPS/MIPS64) your device uses and installs the correct busybox binary accordingly.
Better Battery Stats Installer - Credits: @JudgeDread11
The installer systemless-ly installs the Better Battery Stats app.
Screen Density Changer - Credits: @JudgeDread11
The zip changes your screen density systemless-ly, extract the zip to set the value that you would like.
Debloater - Credits: @JudgeDread11
The zip debloats your ROM, he uses for Asus Zenfone 2 could probably be adapted to many more devices.
Mount Magisk
The simple script mounts the magisk.img to /magisk to allow it to be edited in case a module or script is causing a bootloop.
ViPER4Android Installer - Credits: @topjohnwu edit by me
The installer systemless-ly installs the ViPER4Android app as well as the driver. Detects and supports the x86 V4A driver. It uses the material design version 2.3.4.0 because it is of higher quality than 2.4.0.1. Two zips, one for dark theme and other for light theme.
Ad-Block Installer
The installer systemless-ly installs my ad-blocker, which supports updating by running hosts as root in terminal. The updater utilizes a wget port to android. The entire hosts file is 18 MB and has over 600k unique entries. Hosts is located at GitHub.
Liveboot Installer - Credits: @topjohnwu edit by me
The installer systemless-ly installs the LiveBoot app and script. Credits to @topjohnwu for this one I just edited the settings to the way I prefer it. Two zips, one with boot logs and one without both have 60 lines as default.
Credits & Thanks: Mainly @osm0sis for his awesome odds & ends thread that I used as a template and @topjohnwu for Magisk. Also everyone else who has contributed in any way to installer scripts for various mods, I've tried to include your name by the module you contributed to.
Disclaimer: Naturally, you take all the responsibility for what happens to your device when you start messing around with things.
Contributing: Post a reply with your module attached or a link to it with a short description. I'll add it to the OP with credits and a link to your post. Or even post ideas for modules!
Source Code:Working on it.
These are all very simple modules, but good for noobs like me, who would like some examples.
A better battery stats systemless system app
The sample from the magisk thread, changing screen density by script.
And a sample for a de-bloat module that I use on stock Asus Zenfone 2 laser.

Or if you afraid things go seriously wrong when you delete something that is essential in your running system add a file called remove to the mod folder. The mod will be removed on the next reboot.

How would u accidently delete something essential if your in the Magisk folder? This works too but the reasoning behind it doesn't make sense, your nowhere near deleting anything 'essential' while in the /magisk folder.

From my understanding you can change anything in the system folder, and i believe there is some essential stuff in there. When you run a mod that changes this stuff the files in the mod folder are the files the system is linked to. So removing these files on the fly would have the same result as removing the files on the fly in an unmodded system.
I might be wrong. But I'm learning

Play music after you've changed settings and then tap driver status and screenshot it. I'm pretty sure Android N needs permissive.
