[HELP] How to Downgrade & Root my Nokia 8 properly - Nokia 8 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone.
I just bought a new Nokia 8, but it's on Oreo. I want to rollback to Nougat and root it.
However I saw many things here on xda and I fear to mess with my phone.
So first off all, here are some details of my Nokia 8 :
- Model TA-1012 (64GB/4GB RAM)
- Oreo 8.1.0
- Security update December 1, 2018
- Kernel version 4.4.78-perf+
- Build 00WW_4_88B_SP07

Downgrade :
I've downloaded 2 firmwares :
NB1-484A-0-00WW-B03.nb0
NB1-4390-0-00WW-B01.nb0
Problem 1 : I don't know if there are Nougat 7.1.1 firmwares, so if anyone can confirm it ? ALso is it good for TA-1012 model ?
Problem 2 : I also saw the same firmwares but with "QFIL" at the end of filename. What is that ? Is it necessary ?
Problem 3 : How to downgrade with firmware like these ?
Unlock Bootloader :
I know that I have to unlock my bootlader, but I heard that there is a critical mode, how to do it for my TA-1012 ?
I saw this topic but I don't think its about critical mode https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-8/development/official-nokia-8-bootloader-unlock-t3848051
ROOT :
How to ROOT my phone ?
_________________________________________________
Thank you in advance guys, I love that phone too much to brick it

Why to you want to downgraded the phone? Is nougat better is performance or battery?

On all my phones, the most old firmware is always faster and less battery consumming than the last (I measured it).
But right now, I've succeeded to unlock my bootloader offficialy. However, when I tried to boot TWRP with Fastboot boot twrp.img, it's stuck on Android Logo Of course I can reboot my phone but I can't flash TWRP...
Is it becasue of 1st December update ? is it because bootloader isn't critical unlocked ? Or becasue of boot a & boot b partitions

Apparently it's because of December Security Patch...
Can I downgrade my phone to nougat to be able to root it ???

[A510FD][FIX IMEI-WIFI-SERIAL] Combination Rom for A510FD [A510FDXXU5ARB1]

Hi this custom rom will fix these problems
Fixing No IMEI
Fixing WiFi problems
Serial Number and Baseband fix
Bootloop Fix
FRP Lock removing
Carrier unlock and reading network info
Determining the problems are software or hardware
as i know we cannot install older version of bootloader's roms on our phone because of sboot version, at first you must know about your device sboot version.
when you install the older version rom via odin on your phone, you have maybe see this error like on bootloader mode and the rom will not install in first step of odin installation, what does it meaning of these codes?
Code:
CM SW AEV. CHECK FAIL DEVICE:3. BINARY:2
we have 2 numbers
Code:
Device:3
it showed us the boot loader version of our phone is 3
Code:
BINARY:2
it is showing us the rom bootloader version is 2
when your phone's bootloader version is higher than your rom's sboot version, it means you are downgrading your phone, and its not allowed from Samsung.
now we must have equal or higher version of firmware's sboot version over our phones.
additional information to know combination's buildnumber.

ok my way was use ost tool 6.04( tutorial you can find here in nokia 8 forum).
unlock critical is needed! flash latest nbo and reboot, now you can update till oktober, bootloader lock or relock isn't needed!
Try method.
Use ost 6.0.4 tool and flash firmware v488b nb04
Download update "may security (about 1.x gb) " then copy to sd card .
Boot to recovey, update via sd card and choose file update u already download.
After that ur phone will get update normally
I have solved it. My Smartphone was unrooted but not unrooted critical. After i use fastboot oem lock_critical i can Update via OST ! Problem Solved !
This is the reason most guys had. They didn't unlock critical.

Lock bootloader again with oeminfo to try the warranty repair

Hi, unfortunately my p10 drop on the floor from an high of 8 cm... Yes almost 4 in an the camera now has a strange yellow border. Of course this issue happens only on the color camera. The b/w camera works well.
The problem is that I have unlocked the bootloader. Can I do something to prepare the phone for rma?
I've the original oem info and of course the unlock code.
Thank you in advance
Maybe downgrade to nougat and then ota update to oreo will help. When I made debrand had unlocked bootloader and frp. Then did ota update to oreo and now have bootloader and frp properly locked.

What guide should I follow for this?
For debrand I used this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10/how-to/huawei-p10-debrand-rebrand-update-guide-t3691013
but I was doing it on nougat and I am not sure how it works with downgrading from oreo to nougat.
If you are already on oreo (and C432 region) you could try to use this guide :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10/how-to/guide-manual-updgrade-to-update-oreo-t3758286
tutorial 2 to flash the first full-ota oreo 8.0.0.360 from: http://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database
but here is question to @Jannomag if it's certain that the script will work from newer to older oreo version. If so then try to use HiSuite to downgrade to nougat (for .360 it should be possible when hit firmware update -> switch to other version) and finally do the ota update to oreo. Be aware that I am not absolutely sure it will work, just suppose it should.

Downgrading to a lower version as Dec2018 security patches can be indeed a problem but this shouldn't cause a brick. The updated should fail flashing /kernel and /ramdisk from update files.

I tried to flash B365 oreo over B384 with tutorial 2, update started as usual then reached 100% and phone switched off totaly. Now looks like bricked, can't switch on, charging doesn't work, when connected to pc system shows unrecognized USB SER device. Is there any hope to unbrick it?
I have the same. Send to warranty and they fix this by replace the Motherboard. Now i can't unlock bootloader because no offical codes and DC unlocker not support newest security patch from Huawei. Otherwise Phone works fine and i have extra warranty to 2022 .

Downgrade P9 Android security patch

Heya, i'm not great with internal phone stuff! I need to downgrade my P9 security patch level from January 2019 to any older than September 2018 but i'm not rooted yet.
Would I need to root before I downgrade or is it possible without?
Phone is on android 7.0, EMUI 5.0.4

Btw, what do you want to achieve by downgrading Security patch (don't think it will help you unlocking Bootloader, actually P9 has an old Bootlader and can be easily unlocked regardless of Security patch date)
Find an older firmware (from 2018) for your cust that can be installed by DLOAD (in that case you don't even need the unlocked Bootloader) and the old Security patch will come with that older firmware.
Btw, with the newer firmwares Huawei did not change practically anything else but only updating the Security patch - hence find an older EMUI 5 for your cust and you will have the old Security patch
Instead of by DLOAD, you can also install that older firmware by TWRP but it requires the unlocked Bootloder (that is not root, and root is not needed)
P9 is an old phone and everything generic that you find in Q/A and Guides threads here on XDA will still apply - learn about unlocking Bootloder, what is DLOAD method, what are the custs in firmware names and why is that important (if you don't want to rebrand your P9 to another cust - or how to do that if you want), where to look for official firmwares (incl. old versions), whichnTWRP is compatible with P9 for EMUI 5, etc, etc.
Take few days to read and learn
Otherwise, community is mostly dead and hardly anybody will give you answers (unless you go for some custom ROMs where few users are still active)
I will also not guide you any further, I ended with my P9 two years ago, and generally with Huawei a year ago...
Good luck
