Themes and Navigation Bar with Keyboard - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S8+ Themes, Apps, and Mods

Update: I was able to get this working using Navbar Apps with some tweaking of their settings. Check out that app if you are running into the same problem.
Hey Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone came across this and has found a workaround.
When I install themes my navbar changes to white when opening the keyboard and it looks strange with the all black keyboard. I have tried multiple themes and it happens across the board. I have only found one theme that I have been using called Blue and Black AMOLED that remains black when opening the keyboard. In further testing I found that it may be the SwiftKey Keyboard as it appears to work with the Samsung Keyboard. I much prefer the SwiftKey keyboard over Samsung's. I have tired the app Navbar Apps https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.damianpiwowarski.navbarapps which kind of works but it kept showing a background on the home screen if I pulled down notifications.
Please see my samples below.
I tried to attach images via link but they were broken so I attached as files.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

change menus from White on Black to Black on White?

Many of the default Android menus are white text on a black background. Not only do I find these visually unappealing, they are actually counter productive given how poorly dark themes read in sunlight.
Can these be changed to black text on a white background (or light background) instead? Does anyone have a theme they can share to accomplish this? Thank you.
OK, I guess this is not possible. It's a shame because I find Android's list based menus awfully plain and unaesthetic. White text on a black background with little visual art...it really looks like a plain vanilla terminal of yesteryear. While I love Android's openness, customization, and tweaker-friendly platform, it really needs a major overhaul in terms of looks and user friendliness. In short, the GUI needs some polish and consistency.
It would appear that Android has built-in "themes" for apps to use. If none is specified, then the dark or black theme is used. I wonder if there is a way to force apps to use the "light" theme even if specified otherwise. Perhaps a custom ROM could be created to always use the light theme.

i know this thread is old enogh, but i'm searching for a answer to this question too.
Same here, I´m looking for a solution to this problem
For me is near impossible to read white letters on black background, and i have a new ZTE Blade that can´t use because this
If someone have a solution, please !!!
Thanks!
Recently this has been bugging me as well. I wish there was a very simple way to perhaps tweak the framework and systemui so that black on white can become a reality...
This is totally feasible. You would have to do a bunch of XML edits in your framework-res.apk and declare everything correctly.

Changing the theme style in styles.xml should work I guess... if I have little to do I can take a look

Okay, I've done it, just gotta see if I've caused any bugs and write a how to
Edit: Bah, it's hard, the whole system and lots of apps are based on how it is now, changing it causes lots of trouble. Don't know if I'll make it :/
Btw, I did it in my cm7 theme. You can see it in my signature

AWESOME. There are some issues though, such as black text on dark backgrounds in the music app, which I'm guessing would take more than some xml editing to fix. But other than that it's GREAT!

Thanks I have fixed most of these issues I think, but one of the issues was kind of tricky, cause when I fix them, I create others :/ and I don't have the stock music app installed atm, I will install it and see the issue myeself

I don't see that theme anymore in your signature. Would it be possible for you to share it? I'm still in search of a way to get Android to be a bit lighter (outside of going with MIUI), which I find far more visually appealing.

[Q] no more font shadows? :/

Did the late nightlies remove text shadowing on home screens? I had changed my font before, but it doesn't seem like it's my choice of font, I've tried many. With a white background, the text for app icons is white too. Here's a before-and-after comparison.

The fonts are different because of the reflash, I'm trying to find which font I was using before. I don't think I've ever had this problem before, though. I've had light backgrounds before with the default font.
EDIT: found the font, didn't make a difference.
Using Apex Launcher on the latest nightly as of 5/19
Wondering the same thing myself. It looks crappy without the shadow.
Ah, at least I know now that it isn't just me.
I don't understand why they had to remove that...

Well, this sucks. I had a great wallpaper that I was going to put in rotation and the backdrop was white.

[Q] Lollipop Update - White Button and Menu Background Color?

Sorry if this has been asked but I Googled and couldn't find much (I suspect because of the keywords- it wants to show me how to change the background or how it's available in white)... but, after the 5.0 update, there is one "annoyance" setting that I'm hoping can be reverted. Everything is now white instead of black (menus, app drawer, etc.). Can this be reverted to the darker theme easily?
As far as I know there is no way to revert to the "black theme".
Oddly, G's news app has a dark theme built in, but thats the only one I can find

[Q] Navigation Icons (Soft Keys) changed somehow

This is gonna end up sound like a stupid easy fix, but I have searched everywhere and cannot find a way to change the look of the icons.
For one, the button on the left change from "Recents" to some stupid "Flip between two apps you used" that is getting really frustrating.
And two, the icons of the buttons themselves changed somehow. How does one change it back to the regular ones? I am using Resurrection Remix rom and Nova Launcher
Screenshot
Have you changed themes? I'm running the minimal theme and have the same softkeys. Themes will change them. As far as them being switched, I haven't ran Resurrection yet, but there should be something in the settings to flip-flop and edit them I'm sure. Have you changed anything in there?

I guess it's happening for the specific theme you're using as I can see you navigation bar, you seemed to be using a theme, right? If so then it's a normal thing. To switch between styles of navbars of your choice use SoftKeyZ
Thank you for the reply guys. I am indeed using a theme but these styles showed up randomly, days after I installed the theme. I even went as far as installing a completely new theme and they remain. I tried the SoftKeyz app and even that app can't seem to change them. I wouldn't even mind these so much if the left key was the recents and not a switch between last two apps used.

Question OneUI 4 (Release Version) Theming Not Working

Has anyone encountered an issue with OneUI theming after installing the official release?
I am unable to change my color palette. I had a custom theme installed (non-rooted) and it says I need to load the default theme. When I do so, nothing appears to happen and when I go to the theming section, the screen is blank and I just get the spinning animation.
The rom seems buggy to me
Every reboot dpi shift to wonky wonky large icons and text have to set again
Give it some time about your issue too

That’s actually the first thing I tried with the themes app no dice. Also, everytime I go check for themes on the Galaxy Store, I get an error message.
Something‘s off with this ROM. I guess I’ll wait. It’s not quite what I was expecting.
I have kind of a similar issue. I am able to change the color palette in settings > wallpaper and style.
However when creating my own theme in Theme Park, when I pick red for my main color and style, the Theme Park app crashes...
Your browser is not able to display this video.
Update: just went into ADB and re-installed the theme service, etc. Worked like a charm. All good now! Thanks everyone for weighing in.
