Battery Saver mode in Android 9 - Xiaomi Mi 8 Questions & Answers

I can't seem to find the Battery Saver mode in Android 9 (MIUI v10.1.2.0) anymore.
There's also no indication in the battery meter for activating such mode. (used to show as orange in the meter background)
Am i the only one missing this?

Whatsapp / Line notifications have always been unreliable in Chinese ROM, that is quite a common issue.
Another thing that you might check is under Settings -> Battery & Performance -> Scenes -> Non-interactive mode and make sure it is DISABLED.

GTALK_ASYNC_CONN (handles syncing, in standby this one caused the most partial wakelocks for me)
disable syncing (not the best way)
uninstall GTalk (if you don´t need it)

Smaller improvements:

in Settings disable Notifications (it is not too hard to search manually for updates)
if you have auto-updates enabled check Updates over Wi-Fi only (there are rarely cases when you have to update your apps not being @home)

in Settings/Wireless&Networks/Mobile Networks choose Use Only 2G networks
General:
use an app like EasyProfiles for disabling apps/connections for special cases (like in car etc.)
keep your Screen Timeout short as possible (Settings/Display/Screen Timeout)
animated wallpapers are consuming more power
our OB has one of the best displays, therefore a display brightness of 100% is not necessary, go to Settings/Display/Brightness and check your settings
i am using Zeus1 by now and have a battery drain about 1.5% per hour in standby with following setup:
- uninstalled Gtalk, GoogleMaps (using Navigon for navigation)
- using K9Mail for email messaging and uninstalled all other clients, receiving mails intervall set to 15min
- disabled wifi on standby
Edit: now on Zeus V2.1, <1% battery drain per hour in standby with data, 2G & syncing
98% after >4h standby
* reserved *
This is a definitely great topic. Go on with it!
this is a good one...
The only thing I have is "Android booster" it close apps and turns off wifi/3G/bluetooth
And when going to sleep just put Airplane mode on and look at this...

Is there anyway to disable/bypass this message as it's annoying I have to tick ok each time I want to turn on mobile data.
Thanks in advance,
PS running stock rom
I noticed that problem too and would be interested in a solution for that. But i don't know how to solve that...:/
Get a widget that turns data on. I'm using Power Toggles and I don't get the question, only if I enabled from the top status bar icon.

Thanks - good to know, but I'd rather just stick with using the top status bar.
I wonder if Elixir2 can block it, much like it blocks the 'data off' notification as per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39570962&postcount=13
Wouldn't know what setting to look for in Elixir2 though.
Cheers
I also like to use original Sony widget..any possibility to disable? Also disabled the notification when you turn it off with elixier..but dont Know which File to disable..

This is bugging me as well. I think this can fixed with root. I have no experience in development so I can't tell you for sure, but if one can change the size of navbars, then skipping this message should be accomplished by changing a 1 into a 0 somwhere in the code.
Have looked through the other services in Elixir2 and nothing obvious stands out to turn off this Cancel/OK dialog on activation of data. It's incredibly annoying!
(have successfully disabled the notification after turning it off)
Would love to know which flag it is I need to disable...

Google Play Services battery drain

I assume that others are having this issue, and wondering if there is some fix I may be missing short of turning off location services (find them helpful and don't feel I should have to cripple my device for battery savings). I believe it is linked to it using WiFi networks to search for my location, although my WiFi is toggled off. This across all ROMs I have tried, though randomly it doesnt happen but always returns.
Thought it would be helpful to have a place to have open discussion on this issue and see others impressions.
Thoughts, suggestions, fixes?

1. Settings > WiFi > Advanced > WiFi Scanning Always Available (disable)
2. Settings > Location > Google Location Reporting > Off,off
3. Use App Ops (built into roms known as "Privacy Guard") and go to Google Play Services and deny permission to Keep Awake (Read more, http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-google-play-services-battery-t2832525 )
Why thank you!! I have done this, and will see how it goes. GPS wasn't in privacy guard within SlimLP but accessed it from settings>apps>all>google play services>permissions>modify

When you go into Privacy Guard, go to Menu (top right) and enable Show Built-in apps or something similar to that. Then you'll see GPS in Privacy Guard
Indeed!! Thanks boss [emoji106]
How do I do this with stock 5.0.1 / rooted
I really hate to bring this thread back to life and I apologize for that but I'm suffering from this bug and it's nasty. I'm barely getting 2h of SoT while other dudes are getting 3~5h of SoT. I did what this thread said and after tweaking with app ops freaking Google Play Services is going nuts crashing every 2 seconds, sometimes one right after another with that annoying message making the phone unusable. I'm on Pure Nexus 5.1.1, no CPU tweaks nor kernel mods. As far as I go with battery related apps/tweaks is greenify. Any ideas?
Did you make a backup before applying any changes in privacy guard? Have you reverted the changes you made back to the default? Also, try going to settings - applications and clearing data for Google play services

Doubts from a GS4 user :)

Hi guys,
My Galaxy S4 just "died" and I decided that I'm over paying big bucks for high end smartphones when today's smatphones are just as capable. So I've bought a second generation Moto 4G but I have some doubts:
- When I press the ON/OFF button to turn off the phone it only shows me "phone off" or something like this...on my GS4 it used to let me choose from "phone off", "airplane mode" and "restart". Can this button be configured to act like this?
- On my GS4 the notification bar was just awesome. I pulled it down and I could instantly turn on/off the WI-FI, 4G, set the phone to only vibrate, set the phone to airplane mode, set the display's brightness to low during the ninght. Can I configure the notification bar to act like this?
- When the battery is charging the notification bar doesn't show the percentage. Can this be changed?
1) No, you'll need to use custom ROM or Xposed in order to do that. It is not customizable by default on Lollipop.
2) Yeah, just pull down again once you're in the notifications area. You can also pull the status bar down with two fingers at the same time, that will also open the quick settings.
3) The battery percentage can be found on the Quick Settings part of the notification shade, which you can access by using the methods I pointed out above. The battery percentage also shows up on your lockscreen while charging, right next to the icon.
If you wish to have the battery percentage shown at the status bar at ALL times, download Battery Percent Enabler from Play Store. It does not require root or anything else.
Hope I helped.
Do you have KitKat ot lollipop.
Using xposed you could.
Use two finger and xposed
Use xposed.
I cannot see the "set phone to vibrate" anywhere here. I don't want to have to install a custom rom to do something as basic as the stuff I've described. If it comes to it I may install apps that can do what I'm looking for but this stuff is so basic that installing a rom is just pure overkill.

This is the GS4's taskbar. Not only you can have those functions I've mentioned above but as you can see you can choose a bunch of other functions
Just click on the bell in the upper left corner and the phone will change to vibration mode.
For tweaks in the notification area you can root your phone and follow the hints of my preposters.
But there are a lot of apps in the playstore to rearrange or change the notification bar, most of them need root privileges but not all of them. Here´s an example: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.notificationToggle&hl=de
And as you see by the vibration mode, some features are not visible at the first glance, every phone is different and you may find some things by just using it.
