2. Installing Updates/Restoring to stock
NOTE: I do not take any responsibility what you flash to your device.
I recommend to not downgrade to a previous EMUI version - it might trigger a brick.
This has been tested on my Mate 20 - i upgraded sucessfully to B171 -> B183 -> B188.
Install the app i wrote from here (EMUI Flasher 1.1)
Make sure you are rooted
Select the update_full_base.zip you downloaded (the second firmware file can be ignored)
Tap flash button - device should restart to recovery and install the update
3.1 Rooting (Simple way)
NOTE: you need a unlocked bootloader, those can be bought online for ~30 bucks
Download the recovery ramdisk image i patched in magisk manager here
Flash the image to recovery ramdisk through fastboot
(Command: fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery_ramdisk.img)
Reboot and keep the Vol+ button pressed to start to recovery mode (Don't worry, it will boot to system anyway)
install latest magisk manager canary build - download here
Enjoy magisk

Hi mate,
Is it possible to install using USB OTG and software upgrade menu (*#*#2846579#*#*)?
I found this post in Mate-20-pro forum (https://forum.xda-developers.com/ma...-to-update-huawei-mate-20-pro-locked-t3897480). Or that is not working with mate 20.

Well, I have not tried using USB OTG of late. Since the tool came out...I use that.
Check a few posts back....
I used it yesterday to upgrade to to 224, easy to use...

If I understand this right, you can upgrade your firmware with the *#*#2846579#*#* method on a Mate 20/Mate 20 Pro with a locked bootloader? Just that?

Not quite clear. Which tool did you mean HSTOOL or what? I guess that method requires bootloader unlocking.

Downloaded and check files from Mate 20 Pro that people used with USB OTG method and compared with the one in this thread, they are quite not the same but they have a similar structure.
However, I didn't try to flash my phone because I found that Mate 20 Pro user that flashed firmware from different regions had an issue with Playstore.

No more update higher than EVA-L19C432B386?

Hello,
Huawei stop to build any new update for EVA-L19C432?
There is no more update from so long time, security patch of Android is so old from April 26 and also the Android version is so old (7.0).
This model has been drop and will not get anymore any update? They stop to update and prepare Oreo version for this model or was forget? Have someone some more information or some new firmware update unlisted on Firmware Finder?
Thanks

Count yourself fortunate, I cannot even get Nougat 7 on my EVA-L29C636. Seriously though, almost all flagship android devices will get, at most, 2 major updates. The P9 was shipped with M and most (not me) have N now. That will probably be the last.

You have Nougat for your version in Firmware Finder, have u tried upgrade manually?
U can also check in HiCare app if u have a update.
Sent from my LON-L29 using XDA Labs
stuck on the same version, firmware finder does not show anything newer either.
Never buying this trash company again and already telling all my friends to do the same.
Was able to install EVA-L09C432B391 with FF DNS method on my dual sim EVA-L19C432B386.
However device shows still old build number, but security patch level is Sep. 2017 and moments is available in camera app
I have managed to update to C391 on L19 but it shows C386 as before. I believe there is another small pack we need to install to show the actual firmware.
388 available for L19, it's the same as 391(L09)

Would you like to elaborate?
Did you flash the oeminfo partition before? I've tried mostly what I've thought about, but can't flash B390 onto my P9 dual sim. Same fw. EVA-L19C432B386.
Thank you.
I was able to flash C391 on my L19 using firmware finder and proxy method. It did not work in my case using DNS method. I did not flash oem partition, just the full 2Gb OTA, straight up.
I get unauthorized every time.

I now see that even L19C432B390 appeared few days ago in firmware finder, but nothing in regular hisuite/settings update - still on L19C432B386 officially

L19C432B388 is the last approved firmware.
B390 is not yet being approved to masses, only to test users.
Proof:
I am not getting even 388 though - through regular Huawei/settings update still nothing. Only see it in FF.

Two months ago when I shortly experimented by debranding L09 to L19 last OTA update for L19 was also b386 for me
Nevertheless, you can update to later unapproved builds by HWOTA method

From my personal experience... You probably have re-branded EVA-L19C432. Original still receives an update, however, if you have re-branded (as mine.My original EVA-AL10) it all stoped at EVA-L19C432B386.
and even if you try to install higher update via SDCARD it will fail.
You can try to download partition table for EVA-L19 and flash it on you phone using dc-unlocker Phenix52 software, then fix your IMEI with HCU Clinet , then you will be able to flash updates manualy higher the 386 but it cause issues with calls and reception on your cell phone..
Cheers,

Nobody can...
The problem is you cannot flash anything higher then EVA-L19C432B386 on re-branded phone.. Unless you have some magic or DC Phenix creators team creates full image from latest firmware...
Issue solved. I re brand to eva-l29c636 and all works as it should. All updates installed until aug 2018...

Awesome thanks for your quick replies. Now we wait
Firmware finder on playstore says that I can update to B397 without IMEI but without IMEI says that it's not approved. Should I do it?
Not really. Look for Tecalote instructions how to update with no check recovery. That's how I did it and now I am on B398.

What is your build number ?
Also pro tip :
If you try to install the firmware from Firmware finder, use the approved firmware only.
Also use Full OTA -MF.
The update must be the next one in order. (eg : if b385,b386 and b387 are available, install b385 first then 386 and 387)
I used to get the update failed error, but after following the above steps, I was able to update. (Now on Jan security patch)/

If your phone is fully stock, and I mean FULLY then you should have received some OTA updates.
That is assuming you phone is C432, Europe variant.
Yes stock, bought it from John Lewis. Model LLD-L31 C342
LLD-L31 8.0.0.138 (C432) October patch
waiting 139 update with november patch
In UK
LLD-L31 8.0.0.138(C432)
October 1st security patch
In Ireland,
LLD-L31 8.0.0.140 (c432)
December 5th Security patch.
With Nav. Gestures.
LLD-L31C432B138 (8.0.0.138)
Normally in the UK the OTA for LLD-L31C432 at least with EE Sim comes 1 month after its released on Firmware Finder.
Not sure why as i bought the phone retail unlocked.
LLD-L21 8.0.0.134 (C185) November patch
I am from Pakistan
I've just put a sim inside and received October update 138. Thanks for your feedback guys

Yeah, funny that, though I have to say I find most mobile phones tend to work better with a sim in them.

If you can't find required firmware on androidhost.ru , try here:
https://easy-firmware.com/index.php?a=downloads&b=folder&id=14292
But it's paid service, min. 17€/$ .
