[MUST READ] Clarification Regarding 64bit Rom availability for Redmi S2/Y2 - Xiaomi Redmi S2 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi MIUIers, especially Redmi S2/Y2 users!
First of all, it took some times to get the information right while we were guessing about the future of 64-bit ROM for Redmi S2 and Y2. It's just because we are aware about the future of 32-bit ROM that might have reduced support starting this August. That's the reason why we put "In Review" stamp to the most popular thread. We were seeking or rather waiting for MIUI Developers confirmation.
For us, whatever happens happens, and unfortunately sad and bad news comes to us. Today we just got confirmation that there will be no 64-bit ROM for Redmi S2 and Redmi Y2 both China ROM and Global ROM. While we don't have any follows up about the exact reason, there might a good reason why they decided to not to release it.
Because by releasing 64-bit ROM, it could not delivered through OTA because to migrate to 64-bit ROM to perform clean flash that require format data is mandatory. Therefore to unlock bootloader is needed as well. Not to mention that to do all the process also much riskier for general users.
We just want you to know that we feel sorry for this kind of situations and could not help further since it's a final decision by developers. While this decision might hurt you, we can assure you that your device is still supported with further update.
Regards.

Dear moderator, kindly close this thread. We have successfully booted into 64bit ROM for this device. As we all know XDA is meant for mods. This is an official statement and unnecessary in here. Already there's a thread regarding the 64bit ROM above. Please close this thread as it may cause confusion to people. I am one of the beta tester of @Peak.Krittin He was the one who developed this ROM. Here's the proof for that:

Buying a Chinese version or wait for Global version? (how difficult to DIY?)

Hi everyone,
Apologies for my noob question, I'm a former Windows Phone user who is going to buy his second Android phone (upgrading from the A1).
When I buy the MI 8 right now, it's going to be the Chinese version (with English language support). Is it officially supported to "upgrade" the ROM to the international version when it becomes available? It's ok if I would need to reset the phone (lose all data/apps etc.) But my concern is that it will be a "hack" with no official support for updates later on.
Also, is it difficult to do that upgrade? (I'm a developer, so I have a tech background but I've never juggled with Android ROMs since my A1 came with the international ROM)
Thanks!!
J
Hi,
is not difficult unlock the bootloader, flash the twrp and the rom.
I have installed the xiaomi eu miui 10 version and seems that all work ok

China Manufactured Mi 8 Can't use Global ROM!!

Greetings to XDA Community,
Xiaomi really make the worst announcement ever on MIUI Forum. It is posted by Administrator called DinaDuan. The message are as follows :
"Dear Mi Fans,
Here's something VERY important before you flash or update the ROM.
1. Xiaomi Phones manufactured for Chinese market are not able to run MIUI Global ROM.
2. Xiaomi Phones manufactured for Global markets are not able to run MIUI China ROM.
We highly recommend you to buy Xiaomi Phones via official or authorized sales channels and double check the system infomation before flashing or updating.
Thank you for understanding
MIUI Team."
What do you think about this issue? Will china phones user still able to use Global ROM after this?

I think they are full of horsesh*t because i'm running a Global ROM on a Chinese version phone. You just can't lock the bootloader or it will brick.

But you can install global rom, it's just impossible to lock BL again, you have to back to chinese rom to lock it!
With this new announcement, does it mean that we can still flash the xiaomi.eu ROM?
I have a phone on the way from china with the global rom flashed onto it
I'm a bit worried now

I almost regret buying this chinese phone. First, they introduced bootloader locking issue then edl authorization and now this! Xiaomi is becoming worst than I thought.
Will this be implemented for all Xiaomi phones?
unlock your bootloader and you can flash it
I think that Xiaomi is just taking that load out of his conscience.
Reminding people that if they brick is not their fault but yours.
I agree with you, a lot of people flesh before they read any instructions and end up with bricked device.
I bought a Xiaomi mi 8 from GeekBuying some days ago, faulty advertised as global version. When I updated the result was a bricked phone. Now I have asked for a full refund since it was totaly their fault...i don't want to say the word "fraud". If they don't give me a full refund I will have to complain to the European department responsible for customer's rights in Europe and ask charges against GeekBuying warehouses in Europe.

You are totally right about it. This re-sellers are selling the Mi8 as Global Version, they unlock the BL without the buyer consent, so yes, they are adultarating the product and selling something that doesn't even exist.
And the problems with BL are there just because re-sellers are doing this kind of thing!

Uhm I'm not sure but I would say that geekbuying flashed the Global rom through EDL, so they didn't need to unlock bootloader. He then updated OTA with locked bootloader and **** happened. @ekc_1971 do you remember if bootloader was locked or unlocked?
Wait a little, I have a xiaomi mi 8 Chinese version with global rom installed, also the bootloader is unlocked l, does that mean that if I upgraded OTA to miui 10 my device will get bricked?
BTW I upgraded 2 times from 9.5 to 9.6 and everything ran smoothly, can someone please clarify?

If your bootloader is unlocked you won't brick. Make sure you never lock the bootloader though.
Thank you for clarifying, why would somebody want to lock the bootloader again?
I should not have any problem then, but I would appreciate if you guys could post comments when you upgrade to a global miui 10 having a Chinese version.

[NEWS] US ZTE Axon 10 Pro will not get Android 11

Edit: See my guide here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ade-guide-to-android-11-for-us-model.4449819/
Confirmed on Facebook by official ZTE account https://www.facebook.com/groups/zcommunityusa

Great news! Android 11 is coming to the U.S. in 2021. Stay tuned ?...definitely before Q4 2021

Nice to see they're not dropping support! lol
Have some hope, but not much
As soon as I accidentally broke the Axon 7, I picked up an Axon 10 Pro without hesitation. ZTE Axon 10 community seems not as popular like Moto G community. I sincerely hope ZTE wouldn't forget the Axon 10
Well, we're well past the halfway point of 2021 and still no OEM Android 11 for our much vaunted devices. Sux.
It seems ZTE already released the official update to Android 11 in EU that will required a manual update. The latest EU version software version is 2.6. The North America software version is still 2.09.
Axon 10 Pro(4G) - ZTE
ztedevices.com
With the current sanction going, I don't think ZTE will release anything to the Axon 10 Pro that sold in North America. Since the last developer gave up, I think all units sold in North America are done.
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but just figured it wouldn't hurt to ask whether anyone's heard anything more about Android 11 on the Axon 10 Pro. Thanks!

Hello.
I sent a massage to ZTE and that they're reply:
Dear Valued ZTE Customer
Thanks for contacting ZTE.
We would like to inform you that, updates if available are sent onto the devices via OTA (over the air).
So incase there are no updates released for the device, even if you try and update the device, it would come up with the error "cannot connect to server".
So we would kindly request you to wait for any such updates, incase they are released for the device.
At this very moment, we cannot assure you on when it should be available.
Should you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Best Regards
So as you can see there not so much hope for us.
But bacicly the only defense between the G version to U is the modem.
So if we could extract the modem from your phone we can flash the G ROM.
I used to that whit Axon 7 and worked great.

Hi All

I'm new here, but I have longtime browse this XDA Forum. I have some old phone like LG Google Nexus 5, Samsung Galaxy 10.1 (2014), Xiaomi Mi 3, Redmi Note 4. Because this old phone ROM (OS) this already not supported for new update, I need try to find some ROM that can work with that devices.
Best Regards for All Developers.
Welcome to XDA. If you encounter any problems when trying to flash ROM, or you want to learn to flash ROMs from scratch, ask me here.
Good luck!

Question STILL NO CUSTOM ROM FOR OUR BELOVED REALME 8

Do any of you guys know any custom ROM for this device ?
TWRP is available, so you can root your device and optimise it, but I dont think there'll be a custom rom for your device, mainly because it has an mtk chipset.
Yes
Wish there's one
gsi images is a great way to customize our phone.the problem is the dynamic partition.we must find a way ,to flash a gsi image in the dynamic partition.
i think we can start the fastboot mode over the twrp recovery.i dont no ,how usefull this is to flash a rom.can anybody with more practice test it. iam not sure if i can flash the system.img easily to the system partition.
Custom roms will be available after when realme release official bootloader unlock tool (deepest.apk) because unlocking via mtkclient corrupts dm-verity and fastboot mode.
Thanks Tony for the information
Thanks Tony
Hi together,
do you expect some custom ROMs to be build soon?
Realme 7 has also MTK helio G95 an there are several custom ROMs available.
Looking forward to your professional experience!
Best wishes

Think this is a good idea.
I just wrote an email to [email protected]
…the more mails/tweets they get…
Have a nice sunday all together!
Hi together,
that's what Realme answered:
"
Dear Customer,
Greetings from realme!
Thank you for writing to us.
We would like to inform you that we are constantly working to improve our user's experience through regular updates based on our receiving suggestions and feedback. We do not provide support for bootloader for EU region
Please note, if you root your device / unlock the bootloader or add any custom ROM to your device and later wish to flash back your device to official version, you may visit service center to get the services within warranty. However, if in case, official version doesn't get installed due to any software or hardware issues, services at service center will be considered as out of warranty.
Warm Regards,
Team realme Europe"
Seems there will be no official bootloader unlock in the future
Sad to hear it !
Guys please don't root your smartphone and don't unlock the bootloader , no need as there will be no custom rom for this device

If bootloader for Realme 7 isn't supported than how can so much custom rom for that device be developed??
i mean, you guys could just try using KingoROOT to 1 click root your device and then remove bloat/optimise the installed stock rom
