Status bar looks ugly in MIUI 10 EU ROM - Xiaomi Mi 8 Questions & Answers

Hey there! Me again. I have a chinese Mi 8 with unlocked bootloader since day 1, it was sold to me like that.
I am facing an irritating situation. I was dumb enough to flash EU ROM just to get Google certified and use GPay and/or Netflix (I think I just needed to root and use Magisk hide...). I can now use those services, apparently, but now I have this notch issue in my phone. It looks so ugly.
On my MIUI 10.2.2.0 Global stable ROM it looked like this, a normal notch.

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And now the clock on the left and the icons on the right are too close to the edge of the display, which means, the clock is too far to the left and the other part is to far to the right; it's like editing some values, the EU devs spaced out the status bar elements from each other.
Also, the clock that shows when you swipe down to see the quick toggles and notifications is to close to the notch.
All these issues could be solved in the global stable 10.2.2.0 ROM by changing the DPI, but not anymore, not here. Is there any way to fix this?
I'm picky and I am thinking about going back to Global just to not see that.

No, it is not solved.
There are reports it is solved in the latest beta, but we shall see...

Sad. Really sad to read that.
Then I think I'm goning back to Global. This EU ROM was supposed to be amazing and I've encountered some other situations that irritate me a lot, quite more than Global.
One other issue is that no matter if I choose Classic, Default or Rhodium themes, the icons have a weird and ugly icon theme I can't get rid of (see screen1.jpg). I have only 3 themes (see screen2.jpg) and the icons look even worse if I choose default.
At least I can disable the swipe up gesture in the system launcher...

Stock Android 2.3.1 (which Nexus S) uses doesn't have that.
PS. Is it really necessary to write in bold/red/italics? Man it was annoying having to edit the quote to remove all that.
my work around is to stick the Power Control widget on a screen of my choice
it's included with stock Android
but there is no option to attach it to the status screen

Yeah, that's what I thought
to above user, i loove to use different fonts/color/size.
well, i was looking for the powercontrol for the statusbar, as the statusbar is accesible everywhere, when desktop is not, as i recall

Again, CM has the setting to change the colors and the items in the status bar power widget
Widgetsoid does a great job at a power control widget and it is free.

I've missed this from my Galaxy S too, but the best work around I've found is Quick Settings - search on appbrain (cant post links as I'm 'new') and configure it to display in the notification shade, but to hide the icon in the notification bar.
If there is another solution to properly get buttons as on the Galaxy S ROMs (other than the often suggested - "flash CM7") I'd love to hear of it though. I know the notification shade can't be edited by a simple .apk, but this isn't the first time I've seen this request and would have thought it really ought to be possible somehow without delving into the deepest darkest recesses of the android system -but of course I am probably wrong

Great, possible to add battery percent?
edit: works great, but it would be a lot nicer if the "slide down" was completely black instead of the text "notifications" just my opinion, anyway great theme!
edit2: here is two pictures I took, one is the date and one shows the Market

Finally getting rid of the ugly stock status bar icons. Works great, thanks!
I tried it but I had a black clock on black background so had to revert, good effort though
Using Pauls Vanilla FR6 BTW.
Great job again Doc. Thanks.

An update late tonight, some graphic bugs fixed
Was this meant to work with the stock ROM?, just that it kinda works fine with stock ROM except you can't see the glass pull up effect on the lock screen, and when it is locked the top bar is showing the wallpaper, though like [email protected] I wish it was black while in Market place and such
Is it possible after the installation of this theme to go back to the default stock theme without losing my data. Like performing a nandroid backup with clockworkmod??
can I install it on stock rooted o2x?
Doesn't work so good on mine, running MoDaCo 'vanilla' ROM
Is it possible to add battery percentage?
wen i install its gonner bootloop all day long and fix or help ??
Thank you, this theme looks very nice!
Woah nice one there! I was getting sick and tired of the original status icons ><
Hmmm the lockscreen no longer has the blue glow below? 0.o

I don't know if it will be helpful to someone but I change a very small part of these fabulous theme to solve the problem underline by [email protected] (#2 post). The status bar is now totally black and opaque.
see before1.jpg & before2.jpg (capture by [email protected])

I have tested with a modaco FR17 Fear 10 rom, so I suppose it will work with a modaco FR17, maybe other.

Try these free ones instead - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74009537&postcount=107
* advantages
- overlay and not a seperate app
- no extra battery drain
- the image works and moves with the official samsung AOD app
- you can create your own images
- no delay or screen bugs
Sounds good.
Thank you.

Works as described on Note 8 unrooted. However , i noticed that I lost the ability to use the clock widget. I can't swipe to see the other pages in the widget and interact with it. So I can't click next song for example when playing music.
This is the case even with pratial images (not full screen one's). As if im only clicking/interacting with the image overlay. Is this the case with everyone else?
Any fix? Does it work normally on rooted devices? How do I fox it pls ><
A little expensive the full pack... how many images can personalize? 1 or more?
It seems that there is no more support...
Nice app, but the paid options are way overpriced in my oppinion.
Paid user. Worked perfectly on my note 8. But now using a s10+, Nadroid 9.0 Pi.
The AOD images goes off often and aren't consistent. Only the images within the a few mm of the clock (box range) remains. While the rest reappearing sometimes only and on interactions.
Pls advice

You can't get rid of the default theme because it comes nativity with the OS and, as you can see, it's the same passing from oreo to Pie to 10 because it identifies the model of the phone and not the OS by itself.
The other two one's can be dowloaded and installed or not installed at all or even uninstalled once that you install them and you can find them in
settings > accessibility > visibility enhancements > high contrast themes
They give this choice, for having these two high contrast themes, to people having vision problems by themselves or for watching the screen in particular light conditions.
Anyway, since they don't take up a lot of space, I don't understand why your giving problems to yourself for accounting storage (if this is the reason) although the high capabilities of the note 9 in given a high memory expacialy if you put in a micro SD card...

The first one, being the default one, comes nativity with the OS since the phone was still in his box as new so you didn't even have the choise to install it at all....it was there and can't get rid of it even if installing something else to replace it.
For the other two one's , right, they are not installed when the phone was new but only having the choice of them in the settings of the phone like I previously said... anyway, if you installed them, they won't do nothing (not harmful for performance ) and they are even small so they don't occupate a bunch of storage. But your wrong when saing that they are not ufficial themes because they come directly from Samsung's theme store and their download with installation are indeeded to complete the high contrast theme choice in the phone's settings..so, I don't understand your fears for this...
The two to the right are not downloaded into your phone that's why they have the down arrow on them giving you the option to download. The only reason you can see them is that is your history of previously downloaded themes. The first one with the check is the stock theme which is applied to your phone.

Google might be testing a refreshing layout change in notification tiles in A12

Hi,
I am owner of Pixel 4A 5G on A12, stable release. Last night out of nowhere I was welcomed by visual change in the notification area of the phone (see my lousy representation). This however only lasted for about 10 mins, and then it was back to normal. The tiles expanded to the 4 large tiles on second pull downwards.
I've done no updates before this, nor after it. Is it possible that big G is testing a refreshing change in the layout, a one with smaller notification tiles? Anyone. Ideas?

Seems to me more like a UI glitch or something.
Well it happened again. This time i caught it on screenshot. Thought it is because of the Bed Time enabled feature, but I cannot reproduce it today. Maybe, this is normal behavior, but i really like these notification tiles

Strange. These are the type of glitches I'd expect to see from doing dirty upgrade from A11 to A12, with how much has changed.
Taking a closer look though, maybe if it were an update issue then you'd be getting something closer to A11 toggles, which has 6 on first pull down, not 4. Instead this looks like the toggles from A12, but without text, so they are smaller. Weird.
Stock ROM?
Rooted?
I would possibly give a dirty flash a try. Can't hurt.
Just encountered this yesterday. Non-rooted, stock ROM (clean flash), CleanSlate kernel. Happened just after Auto-Rotate glitched out on my homescreen. The tiles reverted back to normal after rebooting. Pretty sure it's a glitch, but I was cool to see.
