no internet with calling? - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

i was ready to get rid of my note 4 for the 9 but now im told that i cant be on the internet at the same time im on a call.. sprint said they are working on it, , but they said the same thing three years go with the note 4. Just wondering if you note 9 users are holding out hope or just accepting that itll always be like this. thanks

AFAIK, it should work on WiFi still. Mobile data not working while on a call is an issue I've had with every mobile phone I've owned, I don't think this is a Note specific issue. If that's enough to stop you upgrading from a Note 4 to a Note 9, stick with the Note 4 lol.

thanks for the response. are you with sprint? or is this an issue across the board with all the carriers

I'm in the UK and have had this on multiple carriers.

I have the Note 9 and have never had this issue on that phone, but on my works A5 I had the issue. The fix should be -
Settings - Connections - Mobile Networks - Network Mode and then ensure 4G (possibly LTE) / 3G / 2G (auto connect) is selected.
This solved my issue. Hope it helps

[Q] Tmobile Note 3 rom on AT&T Note 3

I know this seems like an unusual request but i was wondering if it were possible to use odin to install the T-Mobile Note 3 rom on or AT&T Note 3? Only reason I'm asking is because I work allot out of my office at work and there's very little cellphone reception if any in my office I was curious if it would be possible to swap roms because of T-Mobiles WiFi calling and texting feature built into their roms.
Any information would help pls.
Edit:
I've found on this forum a thread that another member was successful in using Odin to flash a T-mobile rom... here is his thread can a respected member on here please chime in?

No, as we have a locked boot loader. Trying will most likely brick your phone. WIFI calling doesn't work on AT&T as it is not supported by AT&T. That is why you don't see it on any ROMS for AT&T. Would be nice.

I have T-Mobile now and am using a Note 3 from ATT. Wi-FI calling does not work. I see the option but it will not work at all. Stays "enabling".

Do you have a t mobile rom on your att note 3? Cause that's what I asking if it's possible. If so how do I go about it?

Its very easy. I could port one in hours but WiFi calling is carrier dependent. Won't work

I have an ATT Note 3 with T MO software. It is fairly straightforward. Was easy to install. Once I installed the TMO os on the phone it WORKED BETTER.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2625946
Again, I cannot wifi call but adding the tmo carrier option via the Modificatinator helped a lot and it FIXED THE GPS issue. It's obvious the GPS issue is ATT related. Adding the additional TMO was a lil pain until I figured it out it was cake.

Hi,
I am planning on installing "TweakedN3 2.0 UVUBMI7 4.3 SM-N900T Samsung Galaxy Note 3 ... for AT&T!" this weekend. Can you tell me how and what what you did in the Modificatinator to include TMO ?
Thanks!
So I loaded the Tweaked rom on my N3 and it is pretty impressive. The only thing that doesnt work is WIFI. ANNOYING. It hangs at "enabling wifi" Unsure why. Seems to do this with all the non Aroma TMO roms except Elite S5 port.
You must use the wifi fix, umm its around, I do not have it on me, PM me to remind me, I will upload it when I get home. :good:
Hello - I have the same situation as those in this thread. Got a deal on an AT&T Note 3 unlocked, but am on T-Mobile's network. I'm using the Alliance T-Mobile ROM for the AT&T Note 3 and everything is great except wifi calling doesn't work. Always get a ER041 DNS error or hangs when trying to switch wifi calling settings. Since I'm on T-Mobile's network, shouldn't I be able to use wifi calling? This shouldn't be a radio issue but rather a software one I would think.
To add to this, the following post mentions this feature is at the kernel level and wifi calling will not work. Not sure if this can be confirmed or there is truly a fix.
This wifi 'fix' that was mentioned; does it exist and do you or anyone have the link? TIA

Wifi calls working?
I was wondering if you ever got the wifi calls and texts to work on your SM-N900A? If so, what did you have to do? If I can't get it working I might just go back to my S3, only because I work at ExxonMobil and all the buildings out here are "blast proof" causing zero cell signal.

You can't get tmobile wifi calling to work, but you can get a Google voice number then installed Hangout dial to work as wifi calling, I have same experience since I never got signal in my office. So I use google voice all the time, well i need tell others my phone numbers though. it is free to call within US, and Canada, other place i think there is charge.
Cool, I'll do that. Thanks.

Sprint Note 5 Voice+Data?

Does anyone know if the Sprint version of the Note 5 will be able to use simultaneous voice and data? That's the only feature that would be worth upgrading from my 4
Sent from my Galaxy Note 4 for your reading pleasure
Nope it doesn't. Just tried.
I believe if you are on Spark, you lose voice and data but if on regular LTE, you still get both.
No. It's a single-path radio device, meaning CMDA2000 and LTE use the same radio path. When one path is active, the other is not. Calls come over LTE using eCSFB to notify the phone to switch to the CDMA2000 path, and LTE is suspended until the end of the call.
Texts and MMS can be delivered without dropping to CDMA2000. Any Spark device shares this limitation, and will until VoLTE. If you need both, you can use the Sprint/Google Voice integration and make and receive calls over Hangouts.
There are some advantages, though. A single radio path means reception can be improved since only one radio path needs to be optimized. Battery life is improved as well, since only one radio path is maintained.
Still seems like a step backwards in development. I guess I will keep my 4. Thanks for the responses.

I am not sure if this matters but I have a Galaxy S4 Spark. If I have a LTE signal I can talk on the phone and maintain my Internet tethering. If that is not the case with then Note 5 the they are taking a stop backwards.

No spark phones are supposed to be able to unless they are on wifi. i know my note edge couldnt. i just went back to the note 3 mostly for the development. debating on the note 5 though 4gb ram sounds good
Yes this is dumb, So its physically impossible, no work arounds? I'm on the Galaxy S6 since i broke my S4. I may have to get it fixed now... haha

The early manufactured s4 was not spark capable. The later production s4 is. So its possible some people can do it with their s4 and others cant

[Q] Enable Wifi Calling on Unlocked tmobile note 4 on ATT's network?

Hello, I was wondering if anybody knew how to enable wifi calling on an unlocked tmobile note 4 (SM-N910T) on ATT's network. I see the option available in settings, but it says error "ER05 - Invalid SIM". I'm assuming there should be a way now that ATT finally updated their note 4 variant to MM.

Good luck. I called AT&T and they said it was impossible.
did you call before or after the att MM update was released for note 4?

I called them after the MM update released for the At&t Note 4.
If you get this working some how let me know lol
This has to be pulled from like att phone modem that supports wifi calling and the dailer. That being said, it also has to be compatible with our phone then secondly... has to be ported to this device. The 200 people world wide might use this, including myself, someone had to spend the time working on it. So far I have yet to hear a developer that wants to spend the time on possible a dead end road.

LTE speeds (DQA error(?))

Hello guys,
I just noticed my LTE speeds were horrible (2.24 M/b download/2.03 M/b upload via internet speed test). My coworker who is using a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 on Verizon is achieving speeds well over 20 M/b. Neither of us are connected to WIFI. I tried to do some research to see if anyone else was having the same issue but haven't found anything on it yet. I got really good speeds on my S6 before the upgrade. I tried to phone in with Verizon's tech support and they weren't much help. I'm wondering if this might have anything to do with the DQA pop-up errors. Hoping an update would fix it but just wanted to isolate the issue if it's software or hardware-related.
Has anyone experience similar issues?

I am not using verizon network but i am using a verizon s8 on a different network and already using the latest update. i am able to get 37Mbps for download and 27Mbps Upload speed on my company so i dont think your problems are related to the update but to verizon itself

Anybody on Verizon able to check if their LTE speeds have been bad? I could just rule out that I am in bad area but since I have other coworkers getting better speeds just trying the diagnose the problem.
Thank you all,
Thought the dqa is for wifi only
I'd say they're pretty damn good on this phone.
47mb down
20mb up
in KS, testing a Dallas server on speedof.me
Sometimes, this is due to a bad sim. Did you get a new sim for the S8?

I am using ATT but in Mexico and here ATT only use band 4 and 5 so i dont have any issue. I use ATT (roaming) every time I am there and I do notice that with my old phone (HTC 10) in my area this phone was constantly using band 30 and 4 and changing between them, so after I changed to the verizon s8 I lost band 30 and i was only able to connect using band 4 hence some times i was losing my LTE.
You should do the test with your old phone and LTE discovery and see what bands are you using most of the time and see if your verizon phone have them or not.
I am also having this issue after the update. Slow LTE speeds even when I am in line of site of a tower.

Disappearing mobile data

I live in Brazil, I have Tim pos in my device is oscillating much the mobile data, is always alternating between 4g and 4g + and once while it disappears the network.
I already researched the network and the phone, I already changed the simcard and it continues.

They will have blue Note 9 in stock, if they dont leave it with them, use your Note 8 until they have blue Note 9 in stock the hype is over Samsung have plenty of stock now! Also make video to show them your Note 8 works fine but your Note 9 doesn't. That will give them no reason not to exchange the Galaxy Note 9 for you...
