VoLTE vanished after Pie Update - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Hi
Upgraded to Pie last Friday on EE in the UK on a carrier device so its the EE Firmware.
Prior to the upgrade I have VoLTE on the status bar at the top and since then never shown its face again, anyone else had this?

How did it upgrade via OTA or via Odin and if latter what did you use?

Updated in US and the hack to allow VoLTE (via shortcut master) no longer works. Hopefully a fix (or real update from certain carriers) will arrive soon...

Sounds like Pie isn't fully baked yet.
I'll see myself out.

I'm on EE and have been using Pie for quite a while at this point. VoLTE works fine for me.

VoLTE? for someone with 11e installed.

Just go off the phone with TMO support and they didn't have a direct answer, I have a stock device with the latest update 11e installed that added the digits functionality baked in. The issue I have is that regardless of being on a call or not, I cannot disable VoLTE in the settings, it's there, looks like it's on, but the option is greyed out.
I've reset the device and had the same issue before any changes were made or apps installed. Also, I used LG Bridge to update as I always do, I rather have the rom installed/updated as a whole and not patched.
If you have a stock device with the latest update can you go to setting/call and see if you can disable VoLTE.
My device allows me to turn VoLTE on and off, and I am on the latest stock 11e update.
thanks for the info swan3983!
Looks like it was a SIM card issue, I continued troubleshooting it, after putting in my duplicate line (digits) sim into my G6 it worked as it should. I just got off the phone with support and had them set up a new SIM that I had not used and it's working as expected.

Does the December 1 update include carrier change without flashing yet?

Talking about the feature that S8 has.

This saids the S8 will change the firmware/carrier on your phone based on the Sim thats in the phone. Does the December 1 patch support this yet? Does anyone know if this is coming soon? If this works then you wont have to flash to different firmwares and potentially lose all your data when switching carriers. Since I'm straight talk i can use either Tmo/ATT/VZW networks easily through sim change.

EE blocking updates on 7 Plus?

Just swap over my Sim from EE to O2 after reading something on reddit, then checked for updates and by magic there it is May Security Update 2.22A
I originally side-loaded 8.1 few days ago but was still on the April security with no update.
Now i have a feeling EE got some agreement in place with Nokia & other Android vendors over updates if using an EE sim you basically wait like the contract phones for updates, if this being the case then it goodbye EE and move back to Three.
What your thoughts on this?

I have the same problem with EE. But I am still on 8.0 and Feb security patch. BTW how did you update to 8.1, I tried via VPN as suggested by Nokia support but it didn't work.

Head here reg your phone and download the downgrade from Android P which is 8.1.
https://www.nokia.com/en_int/phones/developer
Now easiest way to install it without using ADB is to put it on the phone storage & install from SD in the recovery menu, you might get some error's after it's installed but don't worry about these 8.1 will be fully and error free on your phone, then you need another sim other than EE then you receive the May update or you could try another sim first and see if the 8.1 with may patch shows up.
Edit
also forgot to mention on 8.1 you can enable wifi calling on EE something you cant do on 8.0.

I can confirm also. After swapping Sim, I've got v2.22A
I installed the 8.1 ROM (via ADB) on my TA-1055 last week. Just swapped out my EE SIM for a Three SIM and the May security update was available. I then switched back to the EE SIM and it disappeared. Switched back to Three again and have now upgraded successfully.
Edit: I just realised that EE are now selling the Nokia 7 Plus, so I guess they're blocking / delaying updates until they've completed their own testing.
I'm on ID (Carphone Warehouse's network) and they too are blocking the update.

Could this be the reason for delay?
Do they have to add something to the firmware to enable it?
I am on Three in Ireland and I do not have any option in settings for WIFI calling.
I'm on Plusnet Mobile which piggy backs on EE and have seen no updates since I purchased my phone on release day......
Took my SIM out yesterday, replaced with on old O2 one and rebooted - hey presto 3 updates downloaded over wifi and installed. Everything now working with my Plusnet SIM on 8.1 June security
I'm BT sim and no update. I removed sim, factory reset and got 2 updates via wifi with May security. Put in BT sim and a few days later got the June security upate.
Don't understand that as the carrier should have no influence on updates on this phone as they come direct from Google because this is an Android One phone. I can understand if the phone is from EE (I.e. on contract) as I have an LG G6 contract phone which has had no updates from Nougat and only 1 security update in Jan .

same experience here
1055 uk. plusnet network SIM . bought phone via John Lewis. EE app was instaled on phone
changed to not working SIM fro freedompop and 3 upates immediately. including june security patch
So what happens when you put the EE sim back in and EE finally issue the update?

How is the AT&T Pie update and is it worth switching from global?

I have to ask because it's been two weeks since they started rolling the update out and I haven't seen anything other than 'It's here' on any of the forums. The AT&T website has updated their patch info to reflect the update but there is no download and Razer's dev portal doesn't have the new image stack yet, so I personally haven't been able to try it.
To anyone using it, I have a few questions:
Does it work with Arter97's kernel?
Does the Wi-Fi/LTE perform well in comparison to Oreo?
Does the screen not turn on until you reboot or reject touch when first unlocked after a while of being off?
Do you think it's worth switching from global MR1 if you have AT&T as your provider?
And does anyone have the update files?
I'm asking mainly because I've been having poor Wi-Fi and LTE performance on top of those annoying screen bugs, even with suggested fixes and Arter97's kernel.

Note 9 Carrier switch problems!

As the titled says, I have an unlocked Note 9 that was initially on sprint/Tmobile a few years ago and it is unlocked. I just switched to AT&T and i am able to use data and text, but i cannot make calls or access my voicemail. Says call ended as soon as i try and make a call or hold #1. No VoLTE or wifi calling options either. Do i need to flash the unlocked firmware to gain all features?
Please help!
Is it a N960U or N960U1? They are supported.
See attachment.
Similar here. ATT shut down 3G in my area. My carrier unlocked Note 9 is running Oreo 8.1. ATT is telling me i have to update to latest available software released for my device in order to access VoLTE. My wife who has an ATT firmware flashed note 9 never had an issue from day 1. There is something in the unlocked firmware (or att blacklisting unlocked phones) that is not allowing VoLTE. In the hidden menu 4636, my VoLTE is greyed out and OFF. I am trying to decide if i update to PIE and see if it is indeed unlocked. I just liked OREO appearance over PIE changes...
Pie is more secure and is patched against the worst rootkit that requires a reflash to purge.
You need to update your sim card more than likely. Try that first or try the wife's sim card in it.
I was sent a new Sim and it didnt work. i tried another sim running VoLTE and it didnt work. I resigned to updating and Im up to OneUI2 and it still isnt working. Ill go until ive ran out of updates, then call ATT back... they have "assured me" that my sim and account are fully provisioned. I remain skeptical.
Went through all updates, about 4hours worth and 7 iterations. Issue was not resolved until android 10, OneUI 1.0. VoLTE provisioning switch still greyed out but in "on" status. Still no VoWIFI, another restriction I have no desire to pursue.
