Linux ? - ZenFone 2 Android Development

Hi. On phones like ZE551ML is possible to install a normal linux ? Since it uses a x86 atom cpu, and the bootloader (isnt it bios?) has been unlocked ?
Of course not along with android, no emulators, no android kernel and all that crap...

I never found any thread on git or Ubuntu phones ever where someone talked specifically about this handset. Maybe yes you are right. Now most of the developers already left this phone. Booting Linux needs lot of knowledge. So it's futile now to think about it now I guess. BTW you opened this thread in wrong section. Please report this thread to be moved to general questions and answers. Have a great day

Ok ill delete this soon...

Look like you are talking of installing linux on a ARM cpu. On a x86 CPU it shouldnt be so hard, like you can install easly linux on any pc. this should be the same...

Looking around, look like its not possible.
But how is it possible ???
Devs come back on this forum please! :crying:
I know the phone is old but there are not many other intel phones...

In my point of view If I can help I am just doing it or else I don't post.

I don't know "coding by heart" or better, i don't know what it means(not a native speaker...).
I know some c Coding an Linux Module development.
Furthermore Java and the typical web technologies.
And a lot of linux administration and kernel configuration...

Well then you should be able to code android Read any guide?
No.
But Android apps and most framework parts are written in java, so the language isn't a problem.
Any furhter information is in the android api documentation, so i don't think this is a major problem.

Well if that's the case maybe you can make a build from winxusers git? It is the port that is the problem. He hasn't changed every I9300 to I9305 in the rom. Wich is a problem
I will lay down the details when I get home from the cinema
If we're all beginners anyway I'll throw my name in the hat. I have no idea exactly what to do but I am a skilled C and java programmer (more so java than C) and I have experience with the Android build system. If someone can guide me I'm sure I can provide assistance.
Thanks man! I have very little knowledge in porting roms but this should help! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1598713
I'll check out the git when i'm @home from work and will try to build it.
I think i should start making a backup of my phone

Haha good idea
Still cloning cm10.1 sources, on my server @100mbit/s... then getting the compressed tar.bz2(thats faster than getting it directly via git to the local machine)

Tell me when it is done! We should be able to get it starting without anything working at least!
What about you? Checking out source and building?
What about using an instant messenger for short communication(google talk, jabber, whatever...) ?

BOCHS and QEMU to run Win on P880

No matter how hard I try, I can't get working any of them. In my Optimus 2X I used to use the QEMU due to its incredible speed. But here I was about to test the BOCHS. I thought that it would work decently in a 4 core device.
But I don't know why, same configuration I used in the 2X doesn't work here. I've tried some more things, but it really doesn't work. I think it is something related to the no looping kernel, but I'm not sure at this point. If so, we have no options until bootloader gets unlocked.
I'm not such a good programmer to see my errors, so I can't get to know what I'm doing wrong. Maybe you're interested and try some other things I didn't think. That's why I0m posting here.
I give you some links to the main threads that talk about it, and I upload everything but the win image

BOCHS Download page: There is a new 2.6 version to be compiled
And now, the russian pages which are the lastest in innovation about this:
Entrys 2240, 660, 800 and 2220 are the more interesting
http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=305747&st=320
Anybody interested on testing?
Well, it seems that DosBox Turbo works even better than in the Optimus 2X. And the emulators all worked too.
However, the usb doesn't accept any external device (just commented in other posts)
So I was wondering. Does any of you know if there is a way to make qemu work without changing the kernel?
I would ask this in the Q&A secction if needed
Scummvm does work as well. In fact you don't need to download any special app, cause they did update the one from the market to the 1.5, wich works quite well with all graphic adventures.
Taking about pads, does anybody have a wireless one (X-box or Ps3) and can check if it does work? If so, I'd buy one
Nevertheless, let's focus on the Win 95/98/Xp tests to make it work through QEMU!
I put and at me everything was started, but awfully braked. Therefore didn't begin to test further, потомочту it not so important part for phone isn't present sense. Everything did according to the instruction from a site http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=305747&st=320

Hmm, then it may be because of the ROM. I thought it would be something Kernel related. But if it does work to you, maybe it is inderectly thanks to Dexter. I'm now installing again CustoNexus to see if then I can test it like you.
Did you try a Win98 image, or a WinXp one?

so your steps to do:
hack IPL bootloader.
hack sbl1.
hack sbl2.
hack sbl3.
hack UEFI.
make drivers for the whole OS.
build a rom.
boot android.
have fun and please post here again when you have it booted

Unfortunately at this time, installing another OS on the phones other than what is already there. I'm a little confused with the ATIV 3 device. If you're speaking about the ATIV Tab 3 and not the ATIV S Windows Phone, then this is the wrong forum location.
If you can reply back with some clarification, I'll be glad to help.
Yes, im sorry i cannot quote i m on my phone, but as you said is the ativ tab 3
here you can see it
This one comes with w8 preinstalled but i ... hate ... windows 8. And i wanted an alternative to this software on a tablet that has a really good hardware and a lot of memory and hdd to spare, iknow that dual booting is possible but apparently only with androidx86, thank you for your answers
OK, that's a moderately-cool looking product, but there's a reason we hadn't heard about it here:
This is the Windows Phone 8 forum. That is not a phone!
The general Win8 forum is over here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/windows-8-rt/general
