How to use Substratum with Andromeda on Pie? - Nokia 7 Plus Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use Substratum with Andromeda on Android Pie on this device? As I had been using a rooted OnePlus X before so now I'm used to themeing device using Substratum. Is there any possible way to use Substratum without root?
(Don't want to void the warranty by rooting.)

No, Substratum is not working on Pie, stick to Oreo if you want keep theming your device

Substratum works on Android Pie but your device must be rooted.
I tested and it works fine. :good:

Theme Support

Hello guys i wanted to ask that has anyone tried substratum's rootless add-on for oreo to use custom theme. I can't decide on which phone to buy. I am stuck between Galaxy S8 and Nokia 8.

If the system language is set to Dutch the Play Store will not be themed, it works in English though. The dev is working on that bug atm.

Obviously safe for OTAs as it's non root, however I assume themes would need disabled first?

I haven't tried meticulus ROMs but i tried the honor 8 lite ROM... it's easy to flash and no need to flash another vendor partition...just follow the instructions and make sure to take a backup from your device's Stock ROM

However i noticed that audio quality on headphones was a bit degraded, Idk if it is only on my device. Reverted to emui. The quality loss was probably due to instalation of viper4android

The ROM is not fast at all...i think hardware composer is disabled and not fully working...so i prefer the stock ROM

For me animations at 0.5x were very very smooth
Generally I want to install this ROM because I dont have much storage. Is this worth to install?
Ok i AM installed this ROM and now i have laggy animation while scrolling
@hip424 @hamzio7 RR's animations are buggy in every device for that build... Try Validus ROM 15.1, it's perfect

I tried that but got errors mounting /data and it wouldn't boot, thought there might have been some p8 lite specific instructions. Il give it another try at some point see how it goes.

Substratum themes

Can you use substratum and it's themes without having to modify the phone i.e. root etc.
Basically want to try them but not void the warranty or anything.
You must use ANDROMEDA from Play Store. It's paid app.

Yeah I realized I had a theme bought a while back ago. Saw that it can give an Android P style look to 8.0. now desperate lol
May as well it try it xD. Was just afraid that I'd have to root my phone cause I'd not prefer to void my warranty especially hearing about the screen retention issue.

Manually installing Android Q beta

I unlocked the bootloader on my XZ3, so I can't install the Q beta using the Xperia Companion app. Is there a way of manually installing the software, like maybe newflasher?

I installed it via Xperia Companion... too many bug at the moment to try also. The camera itself is crashing everytime but the gesture and the dark mode look promising.
What about dual SIM functionality? According to Sony it is not implemented yet.

I haven't gotten substratum to work and I'm rooted. It works like I can load up the app but I don't want to bootloop if I mess anything up.

what you do is enable native dark mode which works on system apps anyway(asus apps). apply substratum theme for downloaded and google apps. thats a better way.
