We’re really excited to announce the release of Paranoid Android Pie betas.
On the first launch, you’ll notice a clean setup with a beautiful wallpaper from Hampus Olsson, who teamed up with us again to create several beautiful pieces of artwork. For those who are unfamiliar, Hampus is a multi-disciplinary artist whose design stands for itself and we’re glad to have him onboard. We also added further UI touches that we believe enhances the overall user experience.
The beta builds include adjustments and improvements on top of the stock Android CAF base. The Paranoid Android team and contributors are focusing on squashing existing bugs, and implementing and improving features.
Device-specific issues

Soooooo under "device specific issues" I see you only mention the alert slider.... Could that possibly mean you've solved the fingerprint sensor? [emoji1693]

This is my favorite of all time paranoid is my sh#t

havent bothered with a custom rom yet, but this might be the first; just waiting for some feedback from some first flashers..

I've downloaded the file three times....anyone get this to boot?

Did not boot

Idk why everyone is excited. PA is mostly aosp with basic features. Same with its Oreo, Nougat, marshmallow and lollipop builds. Never will be what it once was back in jellybean and KitKat era

Why can't we be excited though even if it is barebones aosp?

For the people who are having issues, try flashing without Gapps.
If the ROM boots, flash again with October End Gapps.
That will work..

True, I was only stating that having like 4 barebones aosp ROMs...they only difference are the names lol

The ROM won't boot. Metadata is messed up.
I was able to boot fine using edited meadata. @herna markakash has this info and correct metadata.

I hear ya,,,sometimes I get caught trying to figure out the differences between some of these roms when they are pretty much the same esp when you have the same problems across all roms.

Hey OP! Love the initiative. Also, add this to the OP:
Dirty Unicorns: https://download.dirtyunicorns.com/hammerhead/
Slim 7 has its own thread already. Its in the Original Android Development section: https://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/orig-development/hammerhead-slim6-alpha-0-1-t3400412
Do you know why AICP, AOKP and DU haven't started an XDA thread? If they want more people to use their roms, isn't this the best place to showcase them?

DU has some issues with the way XDA works. They won't even allow an unofficial thread to be created for their official builds. They threaten to drop support for the device. They've got their own forum, "Dev-Base" where a lot of ROMs are hosted that are not found on XDA. You can check them out.
At some German forum I found even Krexus 7.1.1 ROM (beta)
any of that is CAF?

Non of the ROMS posted are CAF if that's what you're asking.
Everyone will have their own opinion when asked what ROM is best for our beloved Nexus 5, I've tried every Android N build for hammerhead that I can find. I've kept notes, performed benchmark tests, kept battery stats, etc. I've tried to be as neutral & thorough as possible, and for me personally the best ROM is AICP. It's been consistently stable with everything working just as it should. I've gotten the best performance and battery life yet. AOKP is a strong 2nd, but AICP has more features and is very well thought out. I've been using AICP as a daily driver for several days now and have had zero problems. I use it just as it comes with the provided kernel. The only modification is using the Coalfield theme via Substratum. I've been well pleased with this ROM in every area. If I were asked to rank the top 5 ROMs for this device, it would be: #1 - AICP #2 - AOKP #3 - Dark ROM #4 - Oct OS #5 - Pure Nexus

I think it's because they don't have a mantainer for the N5 here in xda, I think I did read that somewhere.
Anyways it's an amazing ROM, it's my daily driver and couldn't be happier with it, recommended to everyone here

I'm testing it, so far very fast, smooth and stable ROM with good battery backup. It's pure AOSP ROM, I mean without any Pixel stuff. It has also many interesting custom features in fact it's hard for me to compare it to something else

Installation Instructions
ALWAYS MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP FIRST!
Reboot to recovery
Wipe system, cache, dalvik/art cache, data
Flash rom zip and gapps
Don't flash SuperSU. Magisk is preinstalled for root
Reboot
Updating from a previous build/dirty flash:
Wipe system, cache, dalvik/art cache in recovery
Flash rom zip, gapps and any other zips you may use
Reboot
Never dirty flash from one rom to another
Substratum support is there as long as you have root and latest Substratum app. Some themes may have a little catching up to do, have fun testing them!
If you have any issues, grab a log after a clean flash, upload and link here please. Add steps to reproduce the issue in your post.
Do not report issues dirty flashing this over some unofficial build or with some kernel flashed.
Logcat Extreme app is great as you can choose to start recording a log just before reproducing an error and stop recording just after so you log just the part you need.
Xposed is not supported here, if you want to run it and have issues, try an Xposed thread for support and bug reports here only welcome with a clean install with no Xposed present.
Make sure to state which rom you are running when asking for support

This is great! I love Paranoid Android.
Wonderful job sir Amar and team!
Thank you!!
Looks great, thanks @amarbajpai!
I'm curious about wiping Vendor.
Why is this needed in order to flash PA correctly?
Other ROMs don't require this specific step, with the exception of AIO ROMs and GSIs.
Is there something coming from PA related to this?

It's just a generalised step if you are coming from a GSI. In practice it doesn't matter if you have nothing already in the vendor partition.
Steps are same as other custom roms. Though clean flash is required.
@herna after all these years I saw your name in OP. after you had lost your moto g in college days. Welcome back buddy
I never knew Paranoid Android still existed. Haven't used it since Jellybean days. Good work OP

So are there any famous PA features included or is that to be expected in the next build?
At least give a fair warning that no camera, messaging apps included, so that people wont flash gapps nano

Simply the best. Nice beta. Only a few features but it's running stable so far :good:

Green tint on whatsapp pictures is present even on stock Oreo and Pie because of the camera2api enabled.

We are very excited to announce the release of Paranoid Android Quartz, based on Android 10.
On the first launch, you’ll notice a clean setup with a beautiful wallpaper from Hampus Olsson, who teamed up with us again to create several beautiful pieces of artwork. Hampus is a multi-disciplinary artist whose design stands for itself and we’re glad to have him onboard. We also added further UI touches that we believe enhance the overall user experience. You can find all of the Paranoid Android wallpapers and many more in the Abstruct app, included in our builds.

Yes, I am aware. However, that vendor image is not compatible with this current beta. You want to use Essential's stock vendor from the February factory image.
Great ! ! !
Is Netflix working? On many roms, starting netflix caused a reboot, I tried Pixel experience, Evolution X and a previous Version of Paranoid Quartz.
Curious if Google Duo is working - historically audio for Duo never works with non-default Essential builds - TIA!
Installed the ROM yesterday and I have to say GREAT JOB.
I don't know if it's the CAF base but the battery life is really good and comparable to stock. Very smooth UI as well.
Didn't find any bugs yet, but will check Netflix soon!

Haven't tried the ROM yet. I will if Duo and Assistant work, and there are no Bluetooth issues - those are the key ones from Stock that I am looking to verify before I switch

I can confirm that Assistant works perfectly, with locked screen and unlocked. I don't have Bluetooth issues compared to other ROMs that I have tried like Lineage OS, and Google duo other else confirm that mic is working.
Great ROM! Everything seems to be working fine, although the lock screen wallpaper doesn't change, it just stays the same as the home screen.

Our builds are based on the Code Aurora Forum Android base, which is optimized for Qualcomm platforms and has a higher degree of performance, battery life, and functionality compared to the Android Open Source Project platform. Thanks! I'll try it later, I hope this gets constant updates
Hi Dev, my phone stuck on the bootloop at the beginning. Solved by re flashing again and again. However I cannot find the option to change back button position from right to left. Do I miss something?
Will there be a version of this ROM without gapps?
is there an option to switch the back and recent button?
is magisk working with this?

That's not implemented yet.
https://github.com/xiaomi-msm8998/d...mmit/0f969589110f5832a7d877a4aa209d05c45cc72b you can apply this commit on your phone manually. The file is in vendor/etc/init/hw.

No, that's not planned.
I'm going to flash this either way, but i was wondering how is the battery life compared to stock?
Cause on LOS17.1 "unofficial" i could get easily up to 10-12 hours sot, on the official port it was the same as stock 7-8 hours sot.
I'm wondering if it's any better or just the same.
Great work btw ^_^
Not booting at all
is there a way to remove lockscreen shortcuts? the voice assist and cam shortcut.
also how to turn off notif light when charging

After flashing the rom the battery life is good enough, it is very smooth and stable, but my only "problem" is the lack of universal equalizer settings and the lack of screen recording *with* system audio. (btw any advice on what to do about my issues would be helpful, thanks in advance ). Other than that, this is an amazing rom !!! :good:
Link is not working. Pls give an alternate link. Thanks.
Does your ROM support f2fs ?

The download portal has some problems currently, but the team is already working on it.
For now you can get the builds directly from here: https://download.paranoidandroid.co/roms/sagit/
F2fs is not supported.
Support Gcam? Thanks for your work!
Just wanted to report back and show my appreciation
To put it simply, it just works!
Battery is good, ROM is smooth.
Didn't found any bugs yet.
Magisk and g cam works perfectly.

There is no customisation in the settings. It's just a bland Rom. Other than that it's just an another good Rom.
Hello everyone, I honestly can't install this rom. I currently have miui.eu, so I formatted the phone and installed the global miui 11.3, and only then I installed this rom, but the phone is always doing a bootloop. Someone with installation tutorial?
