[Q] Can Galaxy S10 charge the Galaxy Watch? - Samsung Galaxy S10 Questions & Answers

I have ordered an S10 (not Plus or E). Publicity material shows galaxy S10 charging Galaxy Active Watch.
I have a Galaxy Watch. Will the S10 charge that also?

If the 10 variant has the same powershare as the 10+ then yes it should. I have the s3 Frontier

I saw one official S10 ad where they specifically mentioned the Galaxy watch. I have read though that a case may affect the charging of another device like a watch or phone.

I have little hope that the S10 will charge the Gear S2 or Gear S2 Classic. There are no wireless chargers that work with the Gear S2 other than the original charger. It's something I've always hated about my Gear S2 Classic. If it actually does work, I'll put it up there as one of the best reasons to buy an S10. Can't tell you how many times I've forgotten that stupid charger and ended up with no way to recharge the watch.

Yes it will work to charge all Galaxy watches. My Samsung rep was in my store the other day with an S10 plus and we tested the watch on the back of the phone and it worked just fine. He said that the coils are optimized to work with a phone or an accessory such as earbuds or a watch.the reason why most wireless chargers don't work for the watch is because the coils are spread out too much and not optimized for the smaller watch.

Which watch?
If possible, please provide evidence of a Gear S2 or Gear S2 Classic being charged by the Galaxy S10.

We tested with the brand new watch and with the s3 frontier. I'll be at an s10 launch event next week. I'll ask for you

Yes. This was addressed and demoed at the keynote.

I have the S10+ and it fails to charge my Classic S2 watch, which is very disappointing. It charges for about 2 seconds and then disconnects. Further research only shows that no one with an S2 watch can charge using the wireless power share.

Right, it won't work. It is S3 watch and up

Tested ok with S10 and S10+ with Galaxy and S3 watches.

with my supcase the wireless charging wont work for buds or watch. phone charges fine tho.

It doesn't work with my Otterbox case either. It would be a nice travel feature if I could drop the Galaxy watch charger but I didn't expect it to work and I don't really want to pull the case just to charge my watch. The phone does charge fine on my dual charger though.

I am charging my Galaxy buds and Gear S3 Frontier just fine with my Galaxy S10. It charges other phones too, even iPhone.

It charges anything Qi compatible..

Sure, but my post you quoted said with an Otterbox case on the phone. It's not supposed to work with a case anyway, and if it does consider it a bonus.

My note 4 with official samsung Qi charging back fits in my gear VR fine.
Can the phone charge with QI with it fully inserted in the Gear VR?

Wireless charger bundles with Note 5 same as S6?

Question for all. Whats the model number of you charging pad? I got a Note 5 and a bundled wireless charger and i just realized that they gave me the same charger that they gave me when i got my S6 edge.
Model: EP-PG920I
The Note 5/S6edge + charger is still not officially available from Samsung Store, so is it possible we all got S6 charger, that's isn't fast wireless charging? Takes me 2.5 hours for a full charge when i thought it shouldn't take more than 90 minutes.
Yes, it's been stated many times. The charger best buy or anyone else gives you is not a fast wireless charger and often doesn't work correctly with the note 5.

"doesn't work correctly" ? I used the old wireless charger at an AT&T store and it worked just fine... albeit much slower than the Fast Charge pads I tested in Korea last month.
They intermittently work.

When I talked to Samsung they told me the fast chargers, the round white ones, were specifically made for the note 5 and the S 6 + edge. They told me the round black one, the same one Best Buy gave me when I bought my phone, was incompatible with the note 5.
Here's a link to the thread. Hopefully it helps answer some questions
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/help/wireless-charging-issues-t3185669
I don't have any issues with my S6 wireless charger, except I was expecting getting the Note 5 charger. Also, how could it be incompatible?? It's a standard. That's like saying a microUSB cable is incompatible with Note 5. Doesn't make sense. I don't have any connection problem, it never gives the blinking blue light as some have reported, I actually find it works better with Note 5 than S6 edge. My edge sometimes stopped charging, or just started making the sound like if i just plugged it to power source, until I moved it a little, it could charge OK for 30 minutes than just start freaking out until i moved it.
I thought the same thing...how could the new style charger be incompatible? But that's what the dummy at samsung told me when I called. He seemed very unhelpful and like he didn't care. I'm pretty sure the only requirement to be tech support is the ability to use Google search lol
The older square one best buy exchanged for me works flawlessly. I can't complain tho, it was free with purchase. In the future, I definitely won't be buying any charger that samsung makes. I'll wait for aftermarket fast chargers. At least their tech support staff will care if there's any issues unlike samsung.
Yeah I'm not seeing how there could be an incompatibility. The device is QI certified, and the Samsung charging pads are QI certified. Different specs don't matter, the charging rate will be as fast as both devices can handle. In this case, the older pads only do the original rate, so the phone will only receive 5W instead of 15W that it would receive from the newer "Fast Charge" pads.
If something isn't working, I would bet that it's a problem with the pad hardware, or with the phone hardware.
Am I missing something?

I had nothing but issues with the free wireless charger and exchanged it multiple times with no success. After doing some research, it seems some carriers may be having more issues than others. I am on Verizon and have read that the problem may be a software change made to the phone. I do have a Tylt charger that works just fine. There appears to be something causing issues with the communication between the phone and the specific Samsung charger. I had also read that the interruption in charging may be related to receiving notifications. I no longer have a Samsung charger to do any further testing. I would agree that this should not be an issue since it is a standard, but too may people are experiencing issues for it not to be a real problem.
hey guys, please go vote here and lets narrow down where that problem comes from

Thanks for this...voted.
Voted- I have the Sprint Note 5 and it has the problem with the Samsung disc charger from best buy.
I have had problems with my s6 edge+ and the note 5 with the regular samsung puck i got from best buy.
Regular galaxy s6 charges flawlessly on it. If u dont have problems u got lucky.
Maybe it has something to do with the new reciever for fast charging. Pisses me off i get a free charger and cant use it on my new phone that it came with.
Someone mentioned software related issue but i have tested the s6 edge+ powered off without any software running and still had problems.
I use sprint service and have a n920p device. I just used the poll. Maybe that will start pointing us in the right direction.

I was told by the sammy rep at bb that it doesn't have enough power to charge the note 5. I was told by the advanced tech guy on the phone with samsung that my bb got a bad batch.
It's not a bad batch, and not enough power is no excuse. It doesn't work right when the phone is off. Plus is starts charging fine, it shouldn't suddenly have less power after 5-20 mins. Plus, the key is what someone else said: it's a standard. If it says Qi compatible, it's required to work. Samsung is having problems with revenue, and they desperately need sales. I wonder if they are just trying to cover this up until their marketing campaign is done and they have another flagship to push. This is very un-apple like
The Note 5 wireless charge model is EP-PN920BBEG. On the Note 5 wireless charge, it will have the phrase: Fast charge. If you use S6 Edge wireless charge for your note 5, it still charges normally but not fast. You must use the right type of charger to have fast charge . But there are many store still sale the S6 Edge wireless charge for Note 5 users because of profit or another reason. You should ask them carefully. You can google the model to see the Note 5 wireless Charge look like. Sorry for my bad English
On a side note - the USA Samsung website finally lets you order the fast charge pads. $74.95 after tax.... this is what I get for being too impatient to wait for the Korean model my gf bought for me to arrive.
I got a wireless pad bundled with the note 5 at purchase. So far there's no problem with it. Looking at the model number, I think it's intended for the note 5.

[Q] Is the Note 5 wallet charger any different from the S6 Edge one?

I am using my S6 Edge wall quick charger to charge my N920C, but I have the feeling like it is taking alot more to complete compared to the Edge.
Most of all I see no quick charging sentence or symbol on the display.
Is it just an issue or I must use the Note 5 charger to complete the process quickly?
Any adaptive fast charger will do the trick. The one included in the box of your S6 should work just fine.

Really? I have a few adaptive chargers that I bought separately for around the house and at work, and all of them seem to be the same as the one I got in my Note5 box. Didn't notice they were slower at all.

Not all QI fast chargers working with N8

Have a variety of fast QI chargers that all works well with my N5, even with cases (think and thick cases).
Use the same chargers with the N8 and it seems to be a hit or miss, especially with cases. Some work and some do not.
Anyone else experiencing this?
I have the Samsung Quick Charging Stand and a Spigen triple coil qi charger that's a rip of the Tylt Vu. They all work well but the spigen doesn't quick charge.
Chotetch fast charger works, confirmed because I have one as well as two convertibles from Sammy.
The choetech will charge the phone through the Sammy military grade case (whereas the Sammy one wont).
Triple coil standing Aukey works just fine, even with a case.

did you use the note 8 plug for this? i have the same charger which i got for the n7 and been using it for the s7.
the s7 will say fast wireless charging but with the note 8 it just says wireless charging and the time at 31% is 2h24m. in both these setups its using a sammy n7 charge plug.
I have two Samsung Fast Charge Wireless Charging Stands (EP-NG930) that worked great for the S7 Edge. They however do not work with the Note8 (with or without my spigen case). I tried it on a cheap flat (not fast) PowerBot Wireless charger pad and it works. Does anyone know of a good fast wireless charger stand (not pad) that works? I'm waiting for the new Samsung Fast Charge Wireless Charging Convertible to come in (the pre-order gift) but some people say that does't work sometimes in the stand position. I need a second charger for work.

I may have jumped the gun on this. I use an Anker 40w 5 port charger to feed the Seneo, as I also have a Gear S3 and an iPad that I charge at night. My Samsung charger is in a desk drawer somewhere.
I'll dig it out and hook the Seneo up to it to see what happens.
I went into a Verizon store and my Note 8 worked on their last Gen wireless charger with no problem. I believe I purchased my chargers on ebay so my conclusion is they must not be official changers and are knock offs. They look exactly like the official chargers down to the label on the bottom. They obvious knock offs have a slightly different label. The "some people" I was referring to were people who had the same experience as me based on researching this problem. Learned my lesson, saving a couple of bucks isn't worth it in the end.
I have two of the original Samsung fast charge pads (an American one and a Korean one) and they both work on my Korean Note 8 through its slim case.
Think thats my problem. I have a whole bunch of aftermarket QI Fast Chargers. Some seem to work better than others. But they all Work Well with my N5.

Question about these wireless chargers, if I don't use a Quick Charger adapter, and instead plug it into the back of my monitor for power, will it just slow charge it wirelessly? Or will that not be enough power for it to wireless charge altogether?

What are the best wireless charger for Galaxy Note 20 & Note 20 Ultra?

The Samsung Galaxy has been unveiled and has been growing in popularity ever since. The smartphone Samsung Galaxy has fast wireless charging. it enables you to charge other devices from the rear of it and that’s the rationale a bit of writing on Samsung Galaxy wireless charging pads is certainly a go. I, also, use it and I like it. Work well.
I bought this one on sale: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08DJ8Y2LK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it fast charges. Probably wouldn't get it again, though because it's hard to line up every time. I'd probably do a stand instead so it'll be easier to line up.
I also use the one I got with my S8+. I did just order this Phone/Watch/earbud Universal charging stand:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0894TL5JG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Its a present for my wife, so I give feedback after the holidays.
I have the +Sum travel wireless charger. Has a stationary base for charging the travel wireless charger and also can be charged through USB-C. I use it everyday whenever I'm out and about, especially for my Buds+ and Live. They are more on the expensive side, at 159.99, but it's paid for itself in many occasions.
