Which firewall blocks all connections per app? afwall+ alternative - Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact Questions & Answers

I'm looking for a firewall that can connect all connections (on all network interfaces) for specific apps. I had a problem in the past when connected to VPN the apps could access the internet even when supposedly blocked.

There seems to be a bug with afwall which blocks reconnection to a wifi network. For example if I am connected to my home wifi, leave my home, then come back, I would still be using mobile data because of bug in afwall+. rebooting phone fixes this but that's a pain.
refer here and here

I'm using netguard for blocking connections. The app also comes with ad block function.

[Q] Firewall 2g/3g

hi,
i have an sensation xl (rooted).
i want to control my mobile data usage by not allowing mobile date to some apps.
i already tried a lot of firewall apps but they only seem to work well with wifi.
if i disable an application to connect over 2g/3g with the tools he still does connect.
does anyone has the same problem?
Did you try LBE Privacy Guard? Seems to work great as firewall, as you can set each app having or not internet connection both via wifi and mobile. Worth a try

Wifi connected, but no internet connection

I bought a Nexus 6 through the Google Play store. I can connect to wifi, but the internet connection will occasionally drop out. No other devices on the network have the problem. I have no apps installed currently, as I am trying to figure out if it's an app that's causing it (still have the problem). After a few seconds/minutes the internet connection will reconnect. Toggling wifi off and on will force it to regain internet.
I talked with Google support but it didn't help.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Do you have comcast?? If so it doesn't play nice with the nexus 6. I have the same issue. Use any so that changes the dns on the phone to Google and it fixed the problem.
It has something to do with ipv6

please check the settings of your router, I fixed the same by configuring security WPA2 method in admin panel of my router
Turns out the WiFi connection that was having problems does use Comcast. How do I adjust my DNS settings, and what should I set them to exactly? Thanks!

WiFi issues

My home WiFi is a ssid hidden 5GHz network. Something prevents the phone to connect without any 3rd party app.
Anything we can try?
Personally I now use WiFi Connection Manager by Roamingsoft as a temp solution. My Nokia 8 could connect without 3rd party apps though...

That sounds very strange. I have the same with a hidden 5ghz wifi and I'm not having any issues.
Does yours connect at all when you enter the SSID etc to connect?

No. Nothing happened after entering ssid. It just refused to find the network no matter what I tried.
I use a Asus rt-ac87u with latest Merlin firmware. Maybe its my specific configuration and settings that is the problem. Good that a 3rd party app could solve it though... Still makes me wonder why built-in wifi connection manager could not handle it.

Hidden WiFi networks are generally not very useful. Any device that has your hidden WiFi network saved will constantly broadcast it's name, revealing it to anyone who really wants to know it anyway. And not just at your home, everywhere you go.
This is of course a valid XZ3 issue, but still, hidden SSIDs don't help anyone.

Hotspot Captive Portal

When I'm using my mobile data I notice that the operator leaves a notification from Captive Portal for Login to the Network (as it happens on part of public wifi networks), this is not a problem in general for me, it stays on my phone and when I click I access a portal with all my personal data, and that's ok.
The problem comes when I share my connection via Hotspot, this same portal is replicated to the user who connects, something totally normal, but that bothers me, because all my personal data is there.
I looked for several ways to block the portal for those who access it, using IPTables (blocking the IP of the portal), disabling Captive on my phone (just to try, since it doesn't make much sense) and none of these options worked.
Any of you guys have any ideas for this? Remembering that the problem is not the notification itself, but the portal, its loading being blocked for those who access my Hotspot is already perfect.
OBS: I have root.

Question Auto connect wifi

Is anyone having issues with auto connect to saved wifi?
If someone know how to solve the problem ?
Tried reset network settings didnt help
Im using dns.adguard.com to block ads if its making any problem ?
Edit* dns makes the trouble ,use vpn block ads now
Yes, It's a "bug" of the new firmware. It happens if you turn on adguard private dns.
We need to disconnect and reconnect to wifi
What's "vpn block ads"? How it work? You mean in general a vpn or a specific app or a private dns address?
I use block this app
Its connect to vpn and no issues with wifi auto connect
