A blinking white pixel next to the front camera - Samsung Galaxy S10 Questions & Answers

Hello, During a call and while listening to a voice message in Wattsap, a white pixel blinks next to the front camera while the screen is on.
Is that a problem or have more people got it?
Maybe it's normal?
Thanks

That's is intended for the notification light I have been hearing people want to activate it.

it's in display notification light.

Can you guys share a photo of it? if possible.

cant be screen captured because i tried 100s times but all captures came without that mark which gave me indication it could be hardware problem!!

Same here. Some people say that indicator is proximity sensor. If you cover just that blinking pixel with a sharp pointed thing (knife etc.), you will see the screen goes black.

I don't think so because you will not see it in incoming call, it is only for outgoing calls!!

I'm wondering if that's across all the models?

it's also on the plus models....

I also have noticed this issue on the s10+ model
it occurs when making a call or receiving a call (normal phone calls, whatsapp calls)
during a call, if it is switch to speaker phone, it stops blinking.
during a call, if i cover that blinking pixel with a narrow strip of paper the screen will go black (as if the phone was next to the face during a call)

It could be the proximity sensor. If i remember correctly ,in JerryRigEverything's video he showed there are sensors behind the display which also have some cutouts. I could be wrong...

I see, well that dot coming up looks SUPER ****ing irritating. I pre-order the S10+ have not got mine early like my brother did and others have, I hope there is way to get rid of the ****ing light tho like honestly...
A proximity sensor would be around that area but why does it light up white like an actual dot?
My two cents would have been the proximity sensor would be in the middle of the front cam notch where cuts out already exists.

Light in speaker?

Hey. I recently got the diamond and have been wondering if the small block on the left hand side of the speaker grill on the front is a light or a light sensor?
Having previously had devices which flash lights to tell you the bluetooth is on and stuff i expected the diamond to have it but it doesnt light up or flash or anything so im wondering if it should but is broken...
Thanks

haha yeah i was wondering the same thing, but yeah it is indeed a light SENSOR, you can test it quite easily by sticking the phone in bright light, you will see the screen is bright, then put you finger over the bit of transparent plastic in question and you will see the screen dim slightly (because it thinks you are now in a dark setting) so yeah, good call on guessing light sensor.

Thanks guys
Almost had a panic attack that it might have been a fault on the phone...
Does seem odd there is no service notification without turning screen on.
Cheers.
Of course there is ... there is flash around your circle pad ... didn`t notice that ?
It's a light sensor.
The only light indicator is the white circle around the "enter" button.
Bye

Green Blink Led Like Tytn Ii

Hi all,
Watch the video review of Tytn 2,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xev1CW4PVE4
we can see very well, at the top, near speaker, a green LED that flashes. led a similar is also present in dimaond, but I could not do flash, is perhaps the only sensor lighting? Is there a way to do it blink? Thank you

That's not an LED that's near the speaker on the Diamond. It's the light sensor.
Yes i know , but it is very similar in shape and position to that of TYTN, maybe the hardware exists but is not active. What u think

[Q] Proximity Sensor Problem

has anyone had issues with the Proximity Sensor not sensing your face properly and the screen turning on during calls? I have had several calls where the mute, speakerphone, or end call button were pressed while I was in the middle of a conversation. I am holding the phone to my face, touching my skin. No space between the sensor area and my ear at all.
It's very annoying.

Yes. The worst is when you turn the speaker phone on in the middle of a call and get your ear drums blasted.

Yes, that is exactly what has happened to me a few times now.
Sucks big time, I had some app that made the flash turn on when a call was coming in, removed that, it seems like things are better, might have been the culprit.
If you're rooted, you can use Rezound Prox Sensor Calibrator from the Play Store to adjust the minimum and maximum values to get better results from your proximity sensor. I had to do that especially while running an AOSP ROM on my HTC One.

[Q] Are there any led notification?

I know we dont have a led notification. but i saw a red led while my phone is charging and someone was calling me. and when i look my phone on the sunlight(not straight, with a little inclination) i see a black bar( darker than phone's top) left of the htc logo.
so, we have NOT a led notif officially. can we make it glow?

i think its a light sensor, if you ring someone and they answer, put your thumb over that bit and the screen goes blac, move your thumb away and it lights up again so i dont think it can be done
thats the proximity sensor;we have no notification led from what i can tell(i dont really need one though but it would have been nice)

but i saw it was glowing red i swear and that was maybe a bug cos the screen was in battery screen when i got call
it does glow red when you get/make a call but i dont know the technical details, all i know is that its a proximity sensor that activates when calls are involved or with apps(changing music with it etc)
It's a proximity sensor, it cannot be controlled. It lights whenever out needs to
Sent from my HTC Desire C
you can control the sensor via apps

But it is not bright enough to be used as notification LED
You really wouldn't be able to configure the light. It's part of a sensor, ffs
Sent from my HTC Desire C
you CANNOT use the sensor as a notification led.
i was saying you can control the sensor with apps like wave control etc. not only when you get calls.
with wave control you can change tracks, pause the music player etc by using the sensor to detect hand movement.

By switching the sensor on and off we can make the led blink but as i said the led is not bright enough and will not be visible in most of the cases, it will also lead to battery wastage

Proximity sensor ticking noise

hey,
I noticed earlier during a call that the proximity sensor makes a ticking noise when the display is switched off. The proximity sensor is located at the top right of the frame. Nothing can be heard when the display is on. The noise is always audible as long as the screen is off.
Has anyone else noticed that too?

Oh my god, I've been searching if anyone has this issue too (I also have an X5 pro) and find this thread via google search.
I'm not sure what's causing it but noticed it last week, first I thought it was the vibration motor for some reason. But yeah I definitely hear it when the screen is off only. It's most annoying during a phone call
This might be a defect since my Find X5 Pro is not producing any sound from the proximity sensor region. I've been testing in a really quiet environment.
