[DISCONTINUED][ROM][T715] Formula Performante [6/03/2019][CRH1] - Galaxy Tab S2 Android Development

Welcome to Formula Performante...
Hey there fellow Tab S2 user! So... your wondering what this ROM is huh? This ROM is the fruit of my labour, after many many hours of work, research etc. This ROM is genuinely the lightest stock based ROM, in all of the Tab S2 ROM era. The ROM weighs just 675 MB, its RAM usage only 1.0-1.1 GB and its fluidity and speed is unmatched, since any and all modifications have been directed towards only enhancing performance and battery life. So, what does this ROM pack? Here's a list:
Features:
1. Extraordinarily Light Operating System with a very deep debloat
2. Google Apps Removed while still maintaining SafetyNet
3. Latest @engine95 Kernel with Enforcing and far more superior RAM Management
4. Updated SoundAlive with slightly modified Volume Increases
5. Every App has been replaced by the lightest equivalent (For e.g, for the Music App, I checked RAM management of Google Play Music and Eleven Music (Cyangogenmod) and found that Eleven Music used 50 MB of RAM lesser than GPM, so I used that. This should give you an idea of how much research and time it took to find the lightest variant of most stock apps)
6. S8 Camera UI with FHD 60FPS,Tracking AF and Standard Improved Autofocus. Other than these improvements, the camera app was debloated as well, and any useless modes were terminated and rooted out.
7. Completely De-knoxed
8. Magisk Pre-Installed
9. Most Extra RAM and Battery Consuming features have been terminated
10. Device Maintenance switched out for Files GO and SystemUI Tuner (To view battery stats, pull down quick settings (notification panel), click on the top right corner (three dots),button order and place the battery icon and storage icon into the quick settings panel.
11. Mtweaks 13.0 Installed for better kernel control, including GPU control.
12. AOSP Sounds instead of Sammy Sounds.
13. Few build prop tweaks for minor performance gains.
Bugs:
Music will crash on first boot
Do not update Magisk, its 17.1 and has to stay that way to work! New versions of Magisk aren't compatible with out current kernel and will just kill boot!
INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS
1. Wipe DATA,SYSTEM,DALVIK CACHE and CACHE
2. Flash The ROM
3. Realize you enjoy the ROM and hit Thanks :good:
-- NOTE: This ROM is heavily debloated. It's weight alone should classify how much has been removed. Please check comments before installing to see if theres any problems.

Screenshots will be uploaded later:

Thanks. Just installed it.
First impressions:
Starting with "Music has stopped". Oops.
Upgrading Magisk Manager results in error, because Magisk version lower than v18.0 not supported. You should mention this. So no updated version of Magisk possible here (from 17.1 to 18.1)? Oops
its fast, really fast. Wow
more to follow, will just reinstall everything to get Magisk to work.

Oh yeah, thanks for reminder. OP updated

You should explain why it isn't possible to update to the newest version of Magisk. It isn't so nice installing a new ROM with an old version of root and no chance to fix this.
Update:
Removed the ROM. Titanium Backup crashes immediately. So unusable for me.

He explained why...upgraded versions of magisk are not compatible with the custom kernel he used inside the rom. Possibly if the kernel gets some updates we'll get magisk updated support too.
Btw idk why Titanium crashes...will test tonight if happens with me too. Dumb tought: maybe it uses some gapp related services to work and then it crashes because thei're missing? That sound stupid i know...
For the Dev:
It's possible to install gapps (bare minimum as play store and play services) or MicroGapps in this rom? Just in case i wont rely on Fdroid or other thirdy part stores. Thank you

Ok so Titanium backup, is related with the kernel being enforcing. Titanium require permissive which I didn't release due to the many security holes it usually poses. Oh and about Gapps, don't flash.

Updated Magisk 17.3 and up, (18.0, 18.1) compatible kernel is here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79164496&postcount=42
Enjoy

Can't enable any Accessibility Services telling that the text to speech language is not supported and when i tries to force itself to change it to english it restarts.

Thanks

core issue imo is that the calling app dialer does not show up during a call-no call ui (call received but no way to accept it) if there was a way to go back to stock dialer and messages this ROM would have been perfect. too bad all in the past now.

For me, after some finetuning, this is the best, fastest and most stable and compatible custom ROM ever for the SM-T715. Thank you Skulldron!
My finetuning after flashing the ROM (TWRP is clearly a requirement):
1) flash new Kernel v1.4
2) flash Magisk v.21.4 (the last one before Magisk (with v.22.0) became an "App", bundeled with the Magisk Manager )
3) install MagiskManager-v8.0.7.apk (The last separate Version of the Magisk Manager before it became a bundle with Magisk)
4) install newest Open Gapps for Arm 7.0 ("Micro" bundle in my case, because I need Exchange support that seems only to come with GMail) choose the one for your needs if you need: open gapps 7.0 arm
5) install Magisk Module "Google Dialer Framework" via Magisk Manager
6) install Google Phone (The offical Google dialer app shows a "device not supported" message but works fine with the Performante Rom. If you don´t like the error message, try another dialer app)
7) install Google contacts (The offical Google contacts app that works fine with the Performante Rom)
That´s the good and stable working basis installation for me. I do not need any google account and use sources like F-Droid, uptodown or the A**zon appstore for some charged applications i need (like Business Calendar, Mobile Doc Scanner...)

Based on you description I reinstalled this one because all other custom roms result in reboots, looping etc.
- Installed stock Gapps (Micro wasn't even available for 7.0)
- the newest kernel 1.6.1
- can use phone and contacts without warnings and problems
- upgraded to lastest magisk version, get warning about system app etc (seems a known problem right now, so I'll wait). But root works
- Netflix, Prime working, Disney with error 39
- fast!
-------------------------
Very good until now. Have to wait a few days and see if the reboots/boot loops etc are gone.
-------------------------
I'll use it only inhouse (since yesterday we have a Galaxy Tab S7+ as primary tablet, but: I can't use it because my daughert occupies it constantly!). Maybe this old and slim rom will give the S2 a new life.
@photona: Thanks for your post. Without it I never would have tried this one again. Sadly Skulldron was last online some months ago...
@engine95: Thanks for updating the kernel!

Thank you for the tips, after installing opengapps, system webview will be missing, so I have to push a webview (v70.0.3538.80) into /system/app and install it again in the system. Didn't you encounter this issue?

I don't use webview, so: no.

cant believe i haven't tried this before. made this ancient tablet very useable. I wish they still made tablets this size, this thin and light with such good screens. its perfect if you want to read the news or surf social media, want something bigger than your phone but not a monster tablet like most these days

Been using for a couple of days now and it is the best rom by far for everyhting, tried lineage android 10 and 11, both of them make the tab run very hot in games and after a few mins the graphics glitch so bad it is unplayable.
This rom however, the games run great and the tab only gets warm. Also battery usage is superior to all other roms ive tried.
Thank you for your hard work.
Glad to see the link still works, shame this was the last rom ive tried, the last happens to be the best

[7.March.2012][ROM][P75xx] ♫♫ Overcome 10.1 Series v2.3.1 ♫♫

DISCLAIMER: You know the drill, I am not responsible if loading this rom makes your Tab melt, explode, disintegrate, or cause harm to anyone near it. (I am fairly certain none of that will happen though )
Change log in second post.
Welcome to The Overcome Experience - 10.1 Edition . For those of you that don’t know me, let me introduce myself. I am AlterBridge86, the creator of The Overcome Experience. I started developing a ROM on the OG Galaxy Tab (P1000) about 9 months ago and have moved on to having my own brand of ROM’s, Kernels, and Recoverys. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 (P75xx) is the second device now to get a “Overcome Series” ROM, however it will most definitely not be the last.
My mission is simple. I aim to vastly improve the stock user experience on Samsung devices. I think that Samsung makes fantastic hardware, however fails to bring the same level of software quality to their devices. This is where I step in. I take the base rom, as provided by Samsung, and perform further optimization and modification to it. My mods aim not to completely customize the user interface, but rather add some very useful key functionality while retaining the “stock android” look.

Install Instructions
If you have some form of CWM on your device already, simply download the ROM, and install zip through CWM. Be sure to wipe data to ensure a clean install. **WIPE DATA IS RECOMMENDED FOR 2.2.0 INSTALL!**
However, if you wish to attempt a non-wipe install (ONLY for users already on Overcome), follow these instructions: Prior to rebooting into recovery for install, go into Manage Apps and clear data on launcher. Immediately reboot into recovery using the power menu - DO NOT go back ot the home screen first. Install zip without data wipe. After install completes, wipe cache. Reboot.
If you do NOT have CWM on your device already or you want to start completely fresh, I STRONGLY urge you to read the excellent guide that we have put together to get Overcome installed

At long last, Android 3.2 has come to the Galaxy Tab 10.1. Version 2.0 of the Overcome 10.1 Series ROM marks the first release of the rom based on Android 3.2.
For the P7500, the base was graciously provided to us by brucewein and advocator, as well as the country of Israel. That said, this version unfortunately lacks a lot of locales. In it you will find English, Russian, Hebrew, Arabic, and Korean – no more, no less. Hopefully sometime in the near future we get a release from Europe/Asia that will feature many more locales.
For the P7510, we have the now infamous UEKMM build, the “official” US release that was yanked. Despite the reports of it breaking wifi, I have had no issues of the sort and the rom works spectacularly.I suspect that Samsung’s issue is not related to the ROM itself, but the delivery mechanism and/or installation.
On to features in this release – well, the most obvious is Android 3.2 But there are a lot more niceties to be found. I am proud to tell you all that this rom now features the stock Launcher, Browser, Gmail, and Email apps found in Android 3.2.2 (from Xoom). ALL the 3.2.2 apps are phenomenal performers and make the experience on this device the smoothest I have ever seen it.
Along with those apps, I have brought an oft requested feature over from the stock HC experience – it’s animations. The screen animations are now 100% identical to stock Honeycomb and honestly provide a much cleaner, crisper experience. Most all other features have been carried over from previous ROM’s, with the exception of two (that I can think of).
First, for the P7500 folks, there is unfortunately NO extended power menu at this time. The smali code is COMPLETELY different than what it was in 3.1, and even the US version of 3.2 for that matter. I spent many hours trying to make it work with no success. I will of course continue to try to get it working for you all, but to be perfectly honest I think a Euro/Asian release may beat me to it. Secondly, also related to the power menu mod, for the P7510 folks the status bar hide functionality is not yet implemented. I didn’t get to spend a whole lot of time on it, so i’m sure it can be done, I just need to sit down and really dig into it. For the time being however, you WILL have extended power menu (reboot, recovery, download) but will just missing the status bar hide button.
With that said, I’m not going to hold you up any longer and I suggest you all head over to the downloads and enjoy!
EDIT: One more note - it seems the website and its downloads are sucking pretty hard...I apologize for that. Please use the multiupload links in the first post for downloading if you are unable to get through on the website downloads (or they're crawling)

There is, but Samsung being Samsung, can't leave well enough alone and had to put their own spin on it. It's extremely exaggerated in Samsung's version, as opposed to stock HC where it is significantly more subtle.
Wow - sounds fantastic. Thanks for all your hard work. Can't wait to get home and try flashing this one!
One quick question: was there any reason you replaced the stock email/browser/gmail apps but not the calendar/contact apps? My pet hate with the 10.1 is the ugliness that is samsung's touchwiz calendar.

I replaced the Calendar and it worked, but I didn't know which people would prefer as there is a stark difference lol...i figured i'd leave that one alone. The other apps pretty much look the same, but perform better
Contacts on the other hand wasn't having it at all, but admittedly I didn't spend too much time trying to finagel it in. Maybe in a future release if there is enough requests we'll switch to stock Calendar/Contacts

The Browser one is still exaggerated for some reason, i suspect they are being controlled by different sources (again...samsung ugh) but around the settings and stuff it is not as bad as it was

Ok, thanks for the explanation. My preference is definitely toward the stock app , since the week view layout is much more practical (including zooming in/out ability). You can see the difference here:
http://www1.pcmag.com/media/images/...-android-3-0-honeycomb-honeycomb-calendar.jpg
compared to:
http://static.skattertech.com/files/2011/08/galaxy-tab-touchwiz-calendar.jpg
Same deal with the month view:

compared to:

The stock app is just so much more usable!
thanks for all your hard work: lots of enthusiasm for 3.2 and the Overcome version.
Downloaded and installing as of now...
Just rooted after having this thing for a month, I cant believe i waited that long. Anyway going to give this one a shot and see how it goes.
Well, just flashed 2.0 over the previous version and I'm getting launcher and exchange services fc's. Thought it might be a bad flash so I wiped the dalvik and flashed again to no avail. Fixing permissions in recovery also has no effect. Yes I flashed the version appropriate to my device (7510). Any suggestions besides starting over from stock?

1 rule i learnt from flashing since g-d knows when. A clean wipe is the best way to get a rom working right. if you are having FC clean install is your best option. I would recommend an app called appextractor it works great on restoring apps from your nandroid backups.

Like others suggested you will unfortunately need to do a full wipe...I should have mentioned that in the first post..I'll edit it now.

[ROM][A2017G][B06 7.1.1.][stock] SLIM² version

HI AGAIN !
Thanks to all for downloading (almost 200 :cyclops my previous B05-slim. Espacially thanks to those who supported me and asked to make a B06-slim.
Therefore I'm glad to present the B06-SLIM²
For those who want their Axon7 G stock (rooted & unlocked) to be fully (almost) stripped of bloatware or other unwanted apps, I uploaded my second SLIM² ROM (ad-free + SuperSU). Nothing fancy, just cleaned and ready to use.
It’s fully functional and tested for some time now. Smooth, no bugs.
From this basic, almost clean version you can simply add from scratch your favorite browser, keyboard or other stuff without being messed up with unnecessary (double) applications. Some basic apps like the file manager, calender and alarm are replaced (see info) because standard in-builts are not that great
AdAway + SuperSu added.
I hope you’ll E N J O Y !!!

I used boot.img B05 to install magisk and so far it seems to work but would prefer reinstall it wit B06. Thanks again for your ROM

I also had to flash the old boot image from my nandroid backup to get magisk to work.
so now im om this latest rom with the old boot img.
What am i missing because of the old boot image? Is it worth the efford to upgrade?
if so, how to proceed?
edit: i upgraded according this link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/replacing-supersu-magisksu-a2017g-t3614024
Skipped the first step, flashed the boot img in twrp followed by flashing the magisk zip file and all is well.
I dont know what i gained by this though

Fantastic. Worked on first try. Thank you
My main suggestion is having a customized build so people can decide if they want to replace default and if so with what apps (Like Opengapps' Aroma installer maybe).
My other suggestion that's not as important is making the quick tiles centered like they were in marshmallow
Running smoothly, came from MM stock which was slow, over LOS which was fast and buggy (camera, incoming call), to this. Nice work let's see over a few days
ES is really bloated. Would suggest switching to nextapp's File Explorer.
Amazing ROM though! However I can't modify System anymore even with root. Why is that the case?

IMO, ES is one of the better ( even if you call it bloated. Not that debloated i think ) file explorer who can do the job nicely as it comes to deleting, changing system folders etc. It has a nice build-in editor to edit some stuff you want. Other File Explorers do have a harder job on that. I tested a bunch
Perhaps when you are using another file explorer, there's your answer when it comes to altering system.
Also, perhaps you've changed to Magisk ? It's already discussed : Magisk does a fine job with its modules but when it comes to giving root access to system and altering stuff it lacks behind SuperSU.
But thanks anyway for liking my ROM ! I'll hope you find a solution for modding your System though :good:
Flashed this yesterday because I got fed up with the bugs in non stock based custom roms.
So far running nicely!
Thanks dev.

Same here, returned to this stock based ROM after testing a lot of AOSP or LOS based custom ROMS; none of them was bugless
Axon 7 is realy not a smartphone for ROM development purposes ... better stay with stock.
I wonder if I'll ever have a smartphone where the camera in customR is as good as stockR...
Congrats to the dev! Sweet ROM!
Anyone can tell about the battery life in this ROM?
I can't get the SOT of others users see in other threads... they show screenshots with 6hrs of SOT, even 7hrs or something around this
Was in Dark ROM before this and never get 4hrs of SOT, and just normal use, like web browsing and facebook.

Yeah I can't do that as well, if anyone can help I'd appreciate it.
4-5 hours is not bad but of course the more the better.
Reference to the battery life I don't see differences from B05.
Is there anybody who's able to have Hotspot working? I get authentication, IP assignment, but no data transfer.
Cheers.

I have some problems with superSu.
It says root not detected and I can inly tap on "How to root"
AdAway gets root permission but the screen stays blank.
What can I do?
Edit: Seems like I solved it. My data partition was formatted in f2fs. Formatting it in ext4 solved it.

Android P 9.0 for s6e+ BETA

To go into deeper detail on the ROM, I used Lineage 16.0 20180901 s6 build modified for the s6 found here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...20x-5x-nexusos-9-0-samsung-galaxy-s6-t3843199
It was also based on NexusOS kernel that has been modified, so a big shout out to Team Nexus for the kernel and rom, and to @lukasb06 for porting it to s6.
The original kernel was by Team Nexus for s6 and s6e
Kernel Features;
v2.0: first support Pie on s6e+ and n5
change log:
support N5-s6e+ (ready for daily usage)
bug: BT, GPS, NFC
deep sleep fixed, init.d support, dyninteractive and a lot of kernel code changed.
the kernel can be found at :
https://github.com/slaminger/android_kernel_samsung_exynos7420
**I have made some modifications, added a shim, added code to the init.rc to disable p2p wifi. Moving forward the modifications to the kernel will be done by myself.
Please read and follow the instructions :
New zip uploaded for November. Each month has its own folder
This is not fully functional yet but it is close, no Bluetooth, no NFC. the two buttons next to home don't work yet(a couple of temporary solutions below)
BACK UP YOUR CURRENT ROM! especially efs. Some people have ril issues, I noticed my imei changed. A quick efs restore fixed it and my sim worked again.
The home button can be set to double tap for recent apps and use opera browser for compensation of no back button as they have their own, or download back button from play store to add floating buttons to screen. Some versions have buttons pre installed.
I can get bluetooth not to crash, but it doesn't connect.
Wifi Hotspot not working.
Now that the bad is out of the way.
Install Instructions Below:
The call audio and WiFi works, camera works(lower res for video to 1080), magisk is working but apk requires manual apk install, audio works, headphones, video, gapps, everything I have tried besides the above is OK.
The install is a process, first flash the ROM, then the pie fix, then no NFC, and then flash the boot.
Img and start the ROM. set your WiFi and take a look around, give it a moment to run). After first boot, reboot to twrp and flash gapps. If you do it all at once gapps crash sometimes. Once you have this all set up and good to go then add magisk.
9.0SeptSecurity is a different version from the august security not just in the sense that the security patch is different, but also the august build is N920 where the September build is G920F. One is from a note one from s6. It is possible one might resolve a bug that is in the other for your device, i am honestly not sure. different people report different bugs on the same device. If bluetooth does happen to be in one of the zips it will likely crash a lot. remove it via twrp by mounting system and then going to system/app and delete the bluetooth and bluetoothmidi folders.
The reason for lowering rear camera to 1080p for video is that it gets buggy at the 4k default.
A big thank you to NexusOS and LineageOS for their 9.0 lineage 16.0 s6 ROM which I used as a base to port this to our device!
i would also like to thank @topjohnwu for Magisk.
And @MirzaAwais for the Pie fix zip

It's a bit slow for the first little bit while setting up and whatnot, but once you get everything running it works fine. You can use kernel auditor if you find your battery is dying a little too fast.
I am VERY open to suggestions and or help with this, as it is my goal to fix the bugs and have a fully working 9.0 for our device. The buttons are a priority for me.
To briefly summarize: you sacrifice the back button, pages button, and Bluetooth and get 9.0. Everything else works. I've got viper4android going via magisk, the audio fx work. The ROM has a LOUD volume. So if you like music, enjoy. The back button/page has a work around(most apps have a back button), and you can get an app from play store called back button which gives you the home, back and recent button as tiny floating screen icons also, in the meantime. so just bluetooth really. Use modified cam perm boot shim.img
Enjoy
I removed Bluetooth from the ROM intentionally because it crashed constantly and was hard to disable for people unfamiliar with twrp. No NFC.
The camera has been modified to address pipeline errors that caused it to not work in other builds, it is now fully functional up to 1080p video.
The advanced menu seems to be working fine.
Magisk successfully installed with the following modules tested: Viper4Android, Sony Framework, Sony Music, Audio Modification Library, Sys Config Patcher.
SUBSTRATUM DOES NOT WORK ON ANDROID PIE. This is because google does not want us using OMS for custom themes. they disabled it on purpose. i do not believe systemless substratum will be possible moving forward on any device running pie. atleast not at the time being.
**** Solved** see next post** Netflix not currently working, I googled and found many users on pie are having issues.
Superuser works also, but magisk has modules.
More details will be coming.
All gapps 9.0 working on sm-g928
W8, I used the full aroma package and installed everything. However pixel launcher with assistant in the search bar will not work if you install the new Google webview. The built in Google now launcher will work, and I have tried Nova launcher prime. Keep in mind the more gapps you install the slower your device can get. it is best to only install what you need. i installed everything just to see what worked. but i noticed my phone was slower after a while.
The camera is only confirmed working on g928w8 Canadian, g928g, g928f international/american, note 5 N 920variants. Others have reported bugs.
Netflix Netflix-6.13.0_build_29940.apk confirmed working, both cast and watching videos.

Suggestion: if you un-compress the rom(s) and do a search for *camera or camera* does it return any results. I suggest you compare it to a working version and determine what is missing in the system/ system/app and system/priv-app folder(s) once you determine what is missing then just bring those changes over to your folders

@godkingofcanada Hi, I've got same problem with this rom as I had with Oreo rom before. My WiFi MAC Address is 02:00:00:00:00:00 and it doesn't turn on. Have I to do something more than installing rom and all fixes with it ? I can provide logcat if it would do. Also after clean installation there was no bootanimation and no wallpaper. Just black screen and that's all. Hope to see quick reply. Cheers

[ROM][7.1.2][N8000/N801x/N8020][UNOFFICIAL] LineageOS 14.1 Nougat [EOL]

THERE WILL BE NO MORE UPDATES HERE!
This thread hasn't been updated in a while as I'm working on mainline support and a kernel 5.10 release for the Note 10.1. There are excellent releases of Android 9+ from @html6405 now and I don't intend on updating this thread. I'll leave everything as is, but don't expect me to view this thread on a regular basis. Most questions are already answered, use the search.
For the new mainline kernel version, please don't ask for any ETAs, there's still some things to be fixed before there will be an official release and I have a normal life to take care off.
If you have experience with kernel / ROM development and want to help me out? Leave me a message, I'd appreciate any helping hand no matter how much you can contribute, every little bit helps. Even looking at the device tree and giving me hints would be great as I would still consider myself being intermediate at best at putting everything together, it's just a lot to dig into with the little time I have.

Hi, I'm currently trying to get this device officially supported again as I really love it and it never let me down in the last 5 or so years. It still works amazingly fast and I have no need to replace it with anything else.
As I'm a Java engineer for my day job there is a lot of new stuff here, I had some contact with C/C++ when I studied CS a couple of years ago but never actually wrote anything bigger than two or three files in these languages. This is quite an adventure and I learned a lot already but I'm open for any help you can offer. After all, I'm doing this for fun and getting better at whatever hits me in the face while doing it.

FAQ
Q: Why another thread?!?
A: The ROM provided by @lirokoa is great but it is based on sources that deviated quite a lot from the official LOS repo, I try to close this gap and get the ROM aligned to the remaining devices based on the SMDK4412 core so that everbody profits from the development going on there. This ultimately means that we can get a 8.x alpha version "soon" after fixing the remaining issues.
Q: How can I help to improve the ROM?
A: If you are a developer, I'd be happy to discuss the remaining issues with you and how to approach/solve them. I'm open for pull requests on Github. If you are testing the ROM and can provide log files for issues this is also a great thing, even more so if it is one of the devices I do not own.
Q: What's up with the performance?
A: Disable Live Display, it's actually not supported by the GPU (or at least by the current driver)
Q: The camera is crashing!
A: Use Open Camera
Q: Wifi attempts to connect but never succeeds!
A: Try reflashing again, including wiping. This usually fixes it.

Wow!
thank your development for this old Pad.
will try it in a free time.
: )
Downloading. Will post some feedbacks later. Thanks for continuing the development on this old brick. ?
i couldn't get secretwolf98 version to install on my n8013 so i am keen to see if this one will install for me when the n801x version is ready
There is a new build with basic camera support, the back camera has some issues with recording videos which will crash your camera app. I noticed that activating the torch while having the camera app open in the background/foreground will also crash the camera app, so still some issues there.
The work on the camera will go on after the big party, I wish everyone a good start into 2019
I still use 2 of these and thank you for getting back into it. Using lineage 14.1 now. Will keep watching.
Great. I've just incidentally gone back to this forum after a long time to check if there's any newer ROM than lirokoa's for my N8000
I'll check it out. Thanks a lot
Got it all installed - but can't get over an error code 190 ("can't download app")when trying to install chrome. Unsure if this is rom related or gapps related.
Also flashed the 14.1 su package - works well with the rom as expected. Youtube from the play store does not work - plays audio but no video. Other than that as I play with this I'll see if I can find any other bugs. Really appreciative of you picking this up!
Thank you very much for continuing the development of this tablet!
My N8000 is presently running on lirakoa's latest build lineage-14.1-20170810-UNOFFICIAL-n8000 with open gapps micro and as root solution Magisk 18.0.
Recovery is TWRP 3.02.
Everything is working fine except the well known bugs, and it seems that most of these have been fixed in your latest build.
I've never tried video recording with this tablet but had some camera crashes recently when using the ClearScanner app, in fact it's not usable with this app.
Otherwise I think it's usable as daily driver, and it was.
My daughter used it for university until recently.
So, as far as I understand, your build should be on the same level and I'm gonna try it very soon.
Do you think a dirty flash could work?

Not quite yet, lirokoa put some effort in the ROM and there are probably things that I don't know about yet which are broken. See my last quote above for example. I'm still learning the inner working of the linux kernel and Android which is quite a huge task.

It could work but there is no guarantee as always. There are some changes here and there which can potentially break it.

The 190 issue was fixed with a reflash and and formatting my system. Took 3 times - not sure but I think it was on my end. The youtube however is still at issue. I was able to view in browser w/o issue though. It is just the app. Side loaded a bunch of older APKs of youtube with same result.

I can confirm your observations. Chrome is running smooth but the youtube app is only giving me audio with a black video stream.

It is really good ROM for N8000! But it seems not all video codecs are switched on in assembly. Except YouTube any IPTV application does not work, there is no video in Instagram (the still image of the first frame only) and in browsers many videos cannot be reproduced too.
Samsung SmartThins and Samsung Galaxy Apps application and is not started too. Sadly, as I remember, only from Galaxy Apps can be install the S-Pen application. By the way, somebody knows where to take .apk for Samsung Galaxy Apps? And how to work with the stylus?
Thank you very much for this ROM I'm new here on XDA, however I have recently flash this ROM to my n8013 it's running pretty good, but I have 2 issues so far.
First, I'm having some troubles accessing to my wifi network, I have a Spectrum router which have 2g and 5g but it keep saying that the password may be incorrect, I have try many apps so far changing settings on my router but no success; but when I go with my phone on Hotspot I can get access and establish connection.
I'm also trying to get root access, I already flash the path for LineageOS 14.1 but when I go to developers I can't get access to the manage option. And when I run the root checker app I shows that I don't have root access.
Thanks,

Have you tried Magisk for root already?

UPD.
Found Samsung Galaxy Apps. It's no S-Pen application too. There is a Google hand-written input. It is possible to cost them also and not to found S-Pen any more.
So, will be great if there is a video's full support and will earn Samsung SmartThins and if earns the IR-port for control of household appliances (now does not work on N8000). After everything it will be a masterpiece!
many thanks for the new build :good:

There is an issue with decoding the video stream but I'm not quite sure what's the root cause yet. Still investigating.

Just rooted my P4 XL - What "bloat" to remove and what new stuff to install?

Just rooted my P4 XL - What "bloat" to remove and what new stuff to install?
Hello everyone,
I have been rocking my Nexus 6P for quite some time now but I am running out of space and it was time to get a 3rd battery replacement.
So I decided to get the Pixel 4 XL Clear White with 128GB. Ordered at christmas, received yesterday, rooted today
Usually I would always go with DirtyUnicorn ROM + Kernel but that one hasn't been released yet for the Pixel 4 XL and I am not sure if it is even worth it at this point.
So what I am trying to do is to stay with OEM ROM + Kernel + Root and see if that gets me satisfied.
How ever, DirtyUnicorns bringt optimiations and lets me have the option to install Android at its relatively bare minimum to only add and install what I need and want.
This means I need to:
1. ) Remove some "bloat" that I might not need or want
2. ) Optimize, if there even is anything to optimize
3. ) Make use of root to get my OEM ROM more customized
I am trying to make a list for all three categories and would appreciate any feedback or suggestions:
1. ) Remove some "bloat" that I might not need or want
- Android Accessibility Suite
- Android Auto (?)
- Calculator
- Chrome (I use Chrome Beta)
- Compass
- Data Transfer Tool
- Digital Wellbeing
- Drive
- Duo
- Gmail
- Google News
- Google One
- Google Play Movies & TV
- Google Play Services for AR
- Google Podcassts
- Google Support Services
- Keep Notes
- Photos
- Pixel Launcher
- Pixel Live Wallpaper
- Pixel Tips
- Playground
- Sound Amplifier
- Youtube Music
2. ) Optimize, if there even is anything to optimize
- So far I am not sure if there is anything that really needs to be optimized.
3. ) Make use of root to get my OEM ROM more customized
- Adaway
- OverrideDNS seems obsolete since Android 10 lets me set my own DNS for all connections
- Bluebox Trust Manager (to remove ****ty certificates)
- Viper4Android
- Display color calibration (is that even possible with Ambient Display Color?)
I used to root my device for roms and kernels before, but with Pixels I prefer stay on stock.
It is already so minimal and clean, with it's unique pixel features that I just need a little bit more of customization. Here is what I usually do
Remove apps that are not necessary for the device and/or I don't use. That means:
- Android auto
- Youtube music
- Pixel tips
- Play movies
Optimization:
- Battery friendly and performance boosted kernels, upstreamed linux if possible. Now using kirisakura kernel with it's powerhint magisk module, so far so good
- Naptime for entering doze faster
- Some magisk modules like gms optimization for play services
- Edxposed for fingerface, so I can use the face scanner in every app that supports at least fingerprint auth
Other tweaks:
- Adaway
- Product sans font everywhere (sound silly but I can't go back to roboto after using this)
- Viper4android
- Immersive navbar (hide black navigation bar and make gesture's pill above the content)
- youtube vanced
- gpay sqlite fix
That's it. Small little tweaks here and there and nothing else.

That is pretty much also my plan. Do you get OTA notifications? If yes, that means I do the OTA update whenever I get notified, re-root and re-apply the custom kernel.
Offtopic: Trento is awesome. I visited it last summer

Like @TENN3R stated, there's not a lot you really need to do to improve the stock performance of the P4XL. I too use the kirisakura kernel and his magisk modules mods which gives great battery performance and stability. I also use @Tulsadiver mods for center clock and nav bar swap.
You may get the OTA notification, however you have to do a few things to get it to download and install. You'll see a couple of guides in the forum threads. Personally, I like updating the monthly releases via fastboot. Hope you enjoy your new device :good:

Yes, you get notified about updates, but when you download them the installation fails because of root (doens't even start the installation).
There are some tutorials on how to update when you're rooted, here are two ways:
- By OTA
- By fastboot, which is also the one I always go for, I heard some people have minor problems with ota sometimes, and this always worked for me since my Pixel 1.
If you choose the fastboot one, after the installation simply patch the new boot.img with magisk, flash it, reboot and if you want a custom kernel reflash it

Awesome, is there a list of "stock apps" that you removed? I recall from DirtyUnicorns that you cannot remove all stock apps. E.g. removing the "calculator" might break some stuff on Android 8 even when installing a calculator from the play store.

I actually haven't removed any of them, I simply freeze what I don't use with TiBu. Unfortunately, with the advent of A10, our system files are now read only. Which means that you can no longer remove apk's via root explorer type apps or TiBu like we did a while back. There are a few custom roms out there that apparently have debloated some things, however I haven't felt the need to try them like I once did since my device runs perfectly fine with a few mods here and there :good:

Freezing sounds also fine too me. Which ones did you freeze?
@Utini
If i understand you wrong sry but when i see your lists in the OP it seems to me that you nearly want everything away from Gapps and Google Play Services.
For @TENN3R the stock rom is already clean but for me a clean system means pure AOSP so no Gapps at all. I don't how much you rely on Play Services and Gapps but why don't try a pure aosp rom as phhussons quack vanilla version?
Sry when this is Off Topic.

Where are you finding Product Sans In the Fontio Substratum app?
I like to stay on the stock launcher myself, and actually don't even limit data and restrict battery for apps anymore (used to for most things). 10 seems to be pretty on point with not letting apps drain your battery. I haven't noticed much difference from restricting apps versus not.
Anyway, root apps I use:
SD Maid for cleaning system/app cache
DarQ - Lets you use the force dark mode feature from dev options, but on a per app basis. I can't live without this one.
Pixel Launcher Mods (the app) - Lets you change icons using packs found on play. Also has a few other tweaks like system tuner.
Swift Backup
Viper4Android. Also can't live without this.
Kirisakura kernel
Rosemary font - @Tulsadiver has been kind enough to make some font magisk modules
Terminal
EX Kernel Manager

Is it possible do you think to open the ota. Take the boot.img out. Install magisk like you would when rooting and change the name back to boot.img. reinstall it in the ota and install the ota normally?

Also I use active edge mod, pixel 4 tele extender, p4 gcam mod, and ainur narsil sound mod + viper

If you've downloaded and extracted an OTA, you won't find a "boot.img" You'll see what's called power.bin, which I assume contains the boot.img, however, there is no image to extract. You'll need to pull the boot.img from the factory image.zip
Personally, I only update via fastboot with factory images. For me, it's the easiest, most reliable way to update. After 4+ years of doing it that way, this ol dog ain't a changing :good:
