Schwifty Kernel Beta - Testers Welcome - OnePlus 6T Guides, News, & Discussion

Whats up OnePlus 6/6t owners? @SaintZ93 has begun building Schwifty kernel for our device. The beta builds have shown a noticeable improvement over stock. Smooth and quick, great on battery. A decent amount of tuneable options, not too over done.
I've always enjoyed the "balance with little sacrifice" feeling that Schwifty gave my Axon 7.
Supporting this dev in testing to achieve that feeling on my OP6t. He's welcoming other testers, ....
MOD EDIT: CONTENT REMOVED

Schwifty was always my favorite kernel on the Axon. On the 6T I am getting excellent performance and great battery life with updates always being worked on. I backup everything said above. I highly recommend others give this kernel a shot. ....

Actually, flashable is faster. Not fastboot, if the user doesn't have a computer, how would they flash? Try this flashable. http://www.mediafire.com/?aa76od7bfzhjhad
That's great. thanks for share.
If anyone knows how to unlock the 100mhz frequency this is more than welcome.
I also added 600mhz for better power management.

djjonastybe - You need to provide source to your kernel to comply with GPL. If you could add that to your OP that will be great.

Yeah, it's not ideal at the moment though. It doesn't really save much, if anything in it's current implementation. TOP ON, unfortunately doesn't save any power and it is pointless.
I have acknowledged that and am working on a rewrite of the invocation code which should be done next week.
Great work so far. My battery drained about ten percent in four hours, thats more than doubled since the OTA. Thank you very much!

That's JB that is doing that, not the kernel. They have made it more efficient, it doesn't cause as many wakeups now. 1% in 2 hours here whilst idling.

How do I do that? It would be great if you tell me how to upload my source. I would be glad to do it.
@Thalamus good job with the IDLE2 port. I haven't had any issues so far.

Huawei P9 Lite devs

Good day lads,
Disclaimer:
Code:
I don't know if you noticed a thread in the Q&A section that was closed by Matt. While I respect Matt's decision to close it, I find it a very relevant topic... The future of LineageOS for the P9 Lite. Please note that I do respect meticulous' wishes to charge for his work because I know how time consuming it is I wish to firmly express that I do not condone this mentality when it comes to Linux based operating systems.
I decided to make this thread with my little Dev knowledge in order to attract more devs who's willing to put in work on a stable device tree for free in spirit of community and for all to enjoy.
I do not have the Lineage source code at the moment but I will start downloading soon, I do know that I will need help and I encourage more devs/beginners to lend a hand for the benefit of us all.
Please, to begin, post links to relevant tarballs/links/downloads for development purposes, device tree and kernels, anything you've worked on so perhaps we can all work together.
Cheers

Hmmm... The fact that building android ROMs is time consuming is not a good enough reason to request money for OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE. Yes, LineageOS and android in general are open source, so that's an infraction.
About the collective effort, that's a good idea, but there are no sources from Huawei right now. You need to wait for the Nougat sources if Huawei really gives a dime about releasing them. From that point, it is easier to develop and get stuff working. Until then, good luck working without sources and experimenting stuff. Not to mention that there's no official TWRP as well, and TWRPs posted here on XDA for our devices have specific requirements to get them flashed on your device.

Why do you need to come here with negativity? I don't support meticulous but he can do what he wants with the device sources he took the time to build, heck, he doesn't need to release those sources so I don't know what you're talking about, firstly. Secondly, a device tree can be built, Q.E.D we as a community can work on it together, if they release it we'll just have it much easier.
Note also; I've asked for relevant input and help from the community.
Thanks for your time though.
EDIT: P.S Professional Flasher, have you ever built a ROM before? Because that's my target here, finding people who knows how to fix error and put the tree together

This disussions are undesired here. I know a board where you can discuss that. If you want, feel free to have a look at it. This little Board is very pleased about every enlivenment. Opened a thread over there.
Well, developers do not grow on trees. I guess there are not enough devs here who have the P9 Lite device.
However I like the intention of the thread author. For that reason please try to discuss in a human way.
In the end: I am vers interested in learning how to build custom roms but I can't find a way how to learn it. Does anyone have some good advice?
Updated kernel
Hello everyone, I've recently been working on updating the Honor 5c kernel to 3.10.105 and so far it seems to be working fine on my P9lite, LineageOS 14.1. It's based purely on stock, with one or two commits borrowed from Meticulus' kernel repo, so it compiles without errors.
Since this is a new account, I can't link my repo directly, you can find it on my github profile, Avsky.
I'll be making my own additions to master branch, while stocklike branch will contain only fixes and kernel updates.
If somebody would like to test them, you can get the boot image from releases tab on github. Stock kernel hasn't been tested, mind you, always keep a backup!
Also depending on how much time I have, I might get started on bringing OmniROM to our device (I'm really missing it). I'm just a college student though, so it might never see the light of day, any help is much appreciated.

Hello, I tried your kernel on AOSPA MM but I couldn't get the proper unpacked zImage. I got only 9.7 MB gzip which contains the 22 MB Image but I couldn't extract it.
Could you provide the zImage?

That zImage looks like the same I got from unpack. For some reason it won't boot when I repack it with my ramdisk.

Glad to hear it! Your images seem to be using uncompressed zImages, while in stock ROMs they're gzipped, seems like unintentional change somewhere in your build process.

Yeah you're right. I just checked it and I am copying Image instead of Image.gz. Seems like it's only a 'cosmetic' issue because it runs anyways.
Great news guys, my sources now compile with latest Linaro toolchain. The kernel actually barely needed any fixes, but I'm not releasing anything prebuilt yet, since I have no idea what impact on stability my hacks might have.

Perhaps reading through GitHub commits, checking the code and see whether or not you're really interested. If you're using a Linux distribution which I strongly advise, learn bash scripts first - it's easy and self explanatory and from there you will get basics of directories and calling up files.

flash with twrp
don't forget to flash gapps ( opengapps.org ) you need version for android 7.1 arm

WOW! This is the first build of Lineage that works great on my tab! Didn't test fingerprint but autobrightness and camera is working great. Thank a lot. On T710 by the way.
See my signature for twrp 3.1.1-0 for both gts28wifi and gts28ltexx.
Please note that twrp 3.2.0-0 has just been released! I'll be working on bringing it up to the Galaxy Tab S2 2015 tablets as soon as possible
On a related matter, I own a 9.7 wifi variant and I build for it daily. Netflix doesn't work with the official gts2-common repo, but if you use mine it will. I kept a long since abandoned fix which has worked very well in my builds.
Do we need gapps, thank you sooooooo much for this!!!!

I flash pico on my phone and tablet, but even stock or higher should work if the builds are from official sources. I also recommend Magisk if you wish to root. If these builds have su root, Magisk simply uninstalls it before installing itself.
bonuzzz, you did what most (self proclaimed) devs failed to achieve and deliver for the T710/715 in the last months! i just installed the ROM and tried it out the last few hours. finally got a clean and reliable android for my T710.
it's working really smooth, no issues so far. everything - including bluetooth and fingerprint - is working perfectly [edit: haven't tried it, since not needed: according to some posts in this thread stock camera doesn't seem to be working properly]. i am really anstonished and amazed by this great initial release, thanks a lot. i hope you keep on delivering such a good work.
many thanks and best regards from germany
For me on my T710 the microphone did not work. So it isn't in perfect working order yet and the battery drains quite fast, but it's miles better than the previously shared builds here on XDA, and most certainly usable.
I also had issues with certain apps not working properly, so I ended up going back to stock for now. (more precisely: the Antutu 3D part and the Focus gallery application).

Sorry if twrp is spam. Best of luck fiddling around with lineage recovery. For everyone's sake, I hope that Netflix works on your builds.
Thanks a lot for this build. An important progress for the T710/T715.
And also thx for the current TWRP link @ripee, missed that one.
Camera app force closed. Dont save any pictures
If you use a third party app like open camera, it actually works really well.
Either way, the microphone doesn't work at all, as in all roms for this device, and sadly it is a deal breaker for me since I use my tablet for video calls all the time.

open camera same problem.
My twrp recovery is old. I update this and I will try again
Having used this ROM for the last few days on a T710, I experienced a very stable system. UI was always smooth, no serious issues so far. :good:
However, I observed some strange behaviours/minor issues:
Fingerprint unlock isn't always working reliably. Sometimes, when trying to unlock the lockscreen, the finger on the fingerprint sensor doesn't seem to be detected and the PIN has to be entered manually.
LiveDisplay is not always active when the device comes from sleep and has to be unlocked. Upon the next sleep/active via short press on the power button iteration, the LiveDisplay mostly works as expected.
Once, presumably a wakelock drained the battery throughout the day until it was empty and the device turned itself off. I don't know why this happened and can't reproduce it.
Altogether a very successful start for this ROM, I will keep it on my device and hope the dev keeps on working on it to further improve it or even update to Lineage 15.x...
Thanks, @bonuzzz!

I know we all appreciate you doing this. But please make your own thread for it so we can all see what's going on. Without having to read through the 4+ threads this is in.

[Android 11] Custom Roms Repo - My own builds and tests

First of all, I want to say that I'm not creating a normal rom thread for each ROM I'm building mainly because I'm really bad at post creation. This is just my builds, I got a new computer and felt like compiling. I have been compiling ROMS since my old Xioami Mi mix 1 (Lithium) so I'm kinda experienced. I'm creating my own device tree but for now I'm using sm8150-common (Chandra) and Guacamole (Chandra) and Kernel SM8150. That said I would like to share my AndroidFileHost account, feel free to share, report bugs or tell me which rom you would like .
I'll create a telegram group for discussions and all of that tomorrow.
