1st download TWRP from here
https://twrp.me/nokia/nokia6.html
Don't worry you can install it on Nokia 5 also
Mandatory---Unlocked Bootloader
Now reboot your phone to download mode(connect your phone to pc ,enable adb, and reboot from adb folder using command prompt)
Place this TWRP in adb folder of you pc
Now type this command
"fastboot flash recovery 'name of img'.img
Now type fastboot reboot
Here is the imp.part
Don't press enter after typing fastboot reboot
1st hold power.and vol+ button and then press enter
Now when phone vibrates release power button and keep pressing vol+ button
Now you will be in twrp recovery
From here just flash magisk 17.1 zip if you are on pie
Clear cache and delvik
Now reboot system and enjoy
Both TWRP and magisk

You have to downgrade your Bootloader for unlocking it if you are on pie
And you can update to pie by manually flashing pie update using sdcard (download pie update from Google API) or using NOST or OST (using leaked pie build)
Link for direct update using sdcard card:

I think the pie update is not incrimental so you can update your phone directly from nougat to pie
There are two methods
1st-download the pie update from link in previous chat ,put it in external sdcard and flash it through stock recovery
2nd- you can use NOST or OST to upgrade your phone
For this method you have to download ND1-612C build of pie update
Extract it
Open OST and choose the software image
It's better if you visit -How to install internal pie build on Nokia 5--by Hikari Calyx
Just download the file from their ,and there will be a .mlf file select this in OST
First you should try 1st method

A stupid question: Can I flash Stock Rom with TWRP?

I can't enter recovery. The phone show the logo and then PowerOff. This still again when I try to press Vol+ and Power to enter recovery again

here is what I have. Nokia 5, with Android 7.1.2, TWRP 3.2.1-0 flashed. But Bootloader is not unlock yet. I don't know how to unlock it. The TWRP was flashed like https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-5/how-to/guide-temporary-unlock-bootloader-to-t3746947

This is temporary unlocking of Bootloader
You can permanent unlock it by paying 5$ or 300 RS.if you are Indian as I did
You can enter recovery mode by:
1st -enable USB debugging in your phone
Connect phone to pc
Now open command prompt in adb folder by pressing shiff and right click of mouse and there will be a option of open command prompt here
Now type adb devices
There will be a message on phone just allow it( phone should be unlocked)
Now type "adb reboot recovery"
Now you will get a message of no command in recovery
Now press power button and press vol+ 2-3 times keeping power button presssed now you are in recovery

HMD Global leaves unlock the bootloader, so if I unlock the bootloader with Android Pie, I can flash twrp and Magisk?

I successfully downgraded, unlocked bootloader, and rooted my Nokia 5 Android Nougat
It notified an OTA available of Android Pie
Will my root be gone if i update?

Awesome I had trouble booting twrp on pie though , for now I'm using a reboot app. What is the button combo to boot to twrp? Thanks !

Oh so you paid for it, well i guess that's a small price to pay for me. Sadly, I'm starting to like Android Pie, so for me sticking to Nougat won't hold me off for long, so i think I'll like pie even more if there was root

I just used NOST to downgrade to nougat after I kinda bricked it. Upgraded to pie and flashed twrp. I gotta 1024 , 3gb variant runing pie with twrp, magisk & I'm using my 128gb sdcard as adopted storage. I'd recommend the unlock.

Honor 7 Lite root

Hi,
I've been looking for instructions and stuff for rooting my phone Honor 7 Lite (NEM-L21) but I haven't found anything. The only valuable information I discovered was that Honor 7 Lite is probably a renamed Honor 5C for an european market. Some websites said it was renamed because there were changes in hardware (for example Honor 7 Lite supposedly doesn't have a fingerprint scanner, they say - but it's not true, from my experience I can say my phone does have it). So these websites can't be trusted anyway I guess. These two models look alike but I was thinking there could be differences anyway. I don't want to brick my phone. Has anybody tried to root this phone? Can anybody provide me any information about rooting it?
I'm sorry for my poor English and thank you very much for any answer.
Hi,
I have Honor 7 Lite NEM-L21 rooted by using method for Honor 5C. But before rooting, You must have an unlocked bootloader. Steps are:
1. unlock bootloader, after unlocking bootloader, phone will be wiped, so backup your data first - http://www.modaco.com/forums/topic/...our-honor-5c-official-and-unofficial-methods/
2. install custom twrp recovery for Honor 5c (known also as Huawei Nemo and Honor 7 Lite) - https://twrp.me/devices/huaweihonor5c.html
3. after installing twrp i recommend doing backup of boot, cust, oeminfo and system partitions to SD card
4. and now is possible install SuperSU zip from twrp recovery. Some instructions on the net recommends using the SuperSU-2.65 - https://download.chainfire.eu/921/SuperSU
Big Red Warning: for now, there are no firmware released for NEM-L21 in UPDATE.APP form for reflashing the phone from the Huawei eRecovery in case of if you bricked the phone. So, please do things carefully. I strongly recommends to do point 3 ASAP after installing twrp.

+1. This is the only safest way OP.
Sent from my honor 5X using XDA Labs
Instructions for rooting Honor 7 Lite/5C NEM-L21 b100 are relatively easy to find and follow: unlock with Huawei's code, flash TWRP and SuperSu...
But for me, rooting before updating firmware was a big mistake! Wish I didn't unlock&root this phone yet; should have just updated with FF.
After rooting i wanted to FF update b100 -> b351 Nougat7/EMUI5... But it required stock recovery, which I had already flashed to TWRP, damn!
Now, another option would have been to flash custom ROM, but I didn't find great ROMs around, just somewhat commercial LineageOS (lacks e.g. dual-sim support)
Anyway, I tried to flash b100 -> b351 with TWRP, failed and ended up with test-keys firmware. Then tried to download FF, but the only input method in test-keys seemed to be google voice instead of keyboard = no success.
Then couldn't find stock recovery.img anywhere, so extracted it from stock update.app with extractor. Luckily the extractor had linux version too.
Then flashed stock recovery, updated with update.app method from test-keys to b132, then FF update to b351.
Doesn't seem possible to root b351 yet; now waiting for Nougat7/EMUI5-compatible version of TWRP.
Last time i modified some Android phone 5 years ago, so count me as n00b sharing this bad experience. Hopefully somebody could learn something
Hello everyone.
I tried rooting with the method mentioned by circulus. Running into a wall, can't get TWRP to start, only thing I get is the default EMUI recovery. Honor 7 lite, Android 6.0, EMUI 4.1.2 and bootloader is obviously unlocked.
Any ideas?

No... Its stuck in the warning screen... I can still boot the system by holding power but if I attempt to reboot to recovery, its stuck in that warning. I can't access my PC just yet so it would be nice to be able to reboot to recovery without a PC.

[GUIDE] Mi Mix 2 stock MIUI - Unroot, upgrade to Android Oreo OTA, re-root

Disclaimer: I take no responsibility for your device. Use at your own risk!
If you have a rooted stock MIUI Mi Mix 2 running 7.x Nougat with encrypted data and wish to upgrade to 8.x Oreo via OTA:
Make sure you have fastboot on your PC. I'm not going to go into that here. Search and you will find it. If not, then flashing is not for you.
On your device: Open Magisk Manager and click Uninstall. This will remove root.
On your PC, download and install XiaoMi Flash Tool to install device drivers:
https://xiaomiflashtool.com/download/xiaomi-flash-tool-20170425
Download recovery.img to your PC from:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/bmz1xsqhb3v95mz/recovery.img?dl=0
Download this version of TWRP to your PC:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/nvrh79gbgrgio6d/Twrp+supersu_oreo.zip
Download no-verity-opt-encrypt 1.6 to your Mi Mix 2 from here:
https://www.nextgen-networks.de/de/...evices-recovery/29-no-verity-opt-encrypt.html
Download Magisk to your Mi Mix 2 from here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4450387&d=1521348853
Power off your Mi Mix 2 and boot into Fastboot mode by holding volume down and power.
Connect your device to PC with USB cable.
Open a command prompt and run
Code:
fastboot devices
to make sure your device is recognized.
Then run
Code:
fastboot flash recovery C:\recovery.img
making sure to put in the correct path to the recovery img that you downloaded from above.
Now reboot your device and go to Settings, About Phone, System Update, Check for Updates and install the OTA.
Your device should reboot and install the OTA and apply it.
Once you verify the OTA is installed, power off your device and return it to fastboot mode.
Open a command prompt and verify your device appears in fastboot
Then run
Code:
fastboot flash recovery C:\Twrp__chinese_Android8.img
making sure to put in the correct path to the TWRP img that you downloaded from above
After the TWRP recovery is installed, immediately boot into recovery (not system) by holding volume up and power.
Once in TWRP Enter your device passcode to allow access to device memory.
Flash no-verity-opt-encrypt 1.6 to prevent overwrite of TWRP by stock recovery.
Flash Magisk-v16.2(1620).zip to re-enable root.
Reboot to system
Thank you.

If you don't have an unlocked bootloader, you should be able to just accept the OTA upgrade and it will install properly.

I had to look this up so thought I'd share This is for Tmobile Versions
Example: G930TUVS8CRJ1 (5th # from right is 8, BL version - this is found in Settings>About Phone>Software Information>Baseband Version)
Which Oreo versions are safe (ver 4):
G930TUVU4CRI2 Oct 1, 2018
G930TUVU4CRF1 June 28, 2018
Not safe (ver 8):
G930TUVS8CRJ1 Oct 26, 2018 release date
---------- Post added at 02:55 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:49 AM ----------
BTW nice work as always Jr! Oh, & almost forgot ...your last comment saved my @zz!!! I wasn't aware of the ver 8 issue, and the fact that u can't downgrade!! DAMN Samsung!!!!! I was seriously about to try this latest update just to try & figure out RCS not working on CRF1 & randomly came across this! THANKS! (BTW if you know anything about RCS on s7 or services/apks needed for functionality on CRF1 please pm me!)
On another note, let's have a contest to see who can hold on to the S7 the longest as their primary phone
It works perfectly , I had no problem installing it. But I have a question:
Could I replace the SuperSu with the Magisk?
I am also in the Rom Project L S7 of Lanc-City: 3

Thanks for the effort and providing root for T-Mobile. Perhaps I am an unlucky person. By the time I discovered this thread, my phone was already updated to G930TUVS8CRJ1 version. I am wondering if there is any hope for V8 bootloader to root their phone in near future. Here is my humble request if you could provide root for V8 update. TIA.

Thank you. It worked fine on my nougat s7 flat with v4 bootloader. Now I have nougat root. I have a question if I may, Can I use tmp twrp to flash Oreo or one of your, or other roms? Or would I need to upgrade the kernel or something because I can flash Oreo being that I'm on Nougat. Thanks.

You have to update bootloaders and firmware as well so its better to update to oreo first

working fine.
update: gonna have to switch back to u firmware because even when i unroot the phone, certain games wont work or connect to server. i cant install magisk to bypass safetynet or hide magisk after installing so root isnt even seeming worth it on this device. might as well stick to the u firmware and disable the apps I dont need and disable ota update so that i dont get the v8 bootloader update. It was fun while it lasted.

at the moment, there is no 9.0 root. If you want to keep your root - stay on 8.1

he's saying that you can stay on 9.0 without root, or find the steps to go back to 8.1 and get root.

At this point in time Oreo vs Pie, Pie has been shown as a venomous conundrum, especially for EMUI, Tom Wu has had a hard time trying to exploit Android, it's almost impossible, not sure if @Chainfire has even bothered with his exploit, but i think anything at this point would do.
In all fairness PIE VS OREO, they're so similar, battery is similar, problems are similar, it's a waste of time to flap about and try to root PIE when Oreo is so functional.
Either way, until it's official, i'd avoid PIE.
I have a rooted P20 Pro, running EMUI 9.
This is how i got root on EMUI 9
1 - I Flashed THIS
Command: fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk patched_boot.img
2-Reboot phone, install Magisk manager, go into settings, and change the update channel to custom: https://t2m.io/wuAFCrwO, go back to the Magisk home screen and hit install, download the odd Magisk file.zip file.
3-Reboot phone, press and hold the volume up key and your phone should boot just fine.
4-Open Magisk, install, then patch, and install the downloaded Magisk.zip file.
5-Reboot phone, press and hold the volume up key and your phone should boot just fine.
6-Open Magisk, install, select direct install option. and reboot.
Note:
1 - Now your phone will reboot into the recovery every time on its own, which is a good thing, you no longer need to hold the volume up key every time you reboot, it does it for you. This means no TWRP.
2 - In order to apps root access for the first time you need to have Magisk open, or you wont get prompted for approval. Then the app will have permanent root access.
As always, if you do this it's at your own risk.
So no need for the bootloader unlock code from Huawei ?

No you definitely still need to unlock your bootloader, otherwise your can't control certain things which are required
So can you still get an unlock code for the bootloader on the 8.1?

Couldn't tell you, I unlocked mine back in may from Huawei for free.
Funky Huawei may be the last ones who offer it, but I'd say to research it before committing.
Ministry of solutions did offer keys but I've read that they don't anymore.
Unsupported/Unknown Image format
Hello,
After I push the patched_boot.img and reboot I tried to install the zip file I got the Unsupported/Unknown Image format.
Have you seen this before ?
Cheers from Calgary

Personally I just flash magisk to recovery_ramdisk then boot and install manager.
Then on each reboot, just try to boot to recovery and it'll load the magisk IMG which will make your ROM rooted.
Better ways to do it but that always works

Question Relock Bootloader

Hi all,
After multiple issues with this phone, I finally opt out and pass to Pixel 7 Pro.
So, i would like to know how to relock bootloader avoiding the problems of bootloop.
I've uninstall Magisk with option "complete uninstall".
I saw it's better to flash stock image before relock bootloader but how ?
Simply by flashing boot.img on the two slot OR flashing full.zip generated by Oxygen Updater OR other method ?
Thanks a lot for your help !

+1 for leaving OnePlus lol
You need to do both, flash the boot.img, then flash the full zip from oxygen updater
And then after a full reset and full boot up you can relock the bootloader.

This phone was promising on paper but the user experience was much less so...
Thank you for the answer !!
For the full zip of Oxygen Updater, I flash it with "fastboot flash full.zip" or how? (I've never flashed a full zip )

You can use the Local installation system, from the update screen and it that does not support use the OPLocalUpgrade app that Oxygen Updater provides.

If you're on the latest rom there is no need to relock the bootloader
But if you want to, download this https://gauss-componentotacostmanua...23/03/21/b6cfe6d4ec4f4cf7bcb316891f9f8db9.zip
It's the full NE2213 C30 zip file.
Than download https://oxygenos.oneplus.net/OPLocalUpdate_For_Android13.apk
Intall it on you phone, It will show a new app Local Upgrade, using this tool you will install the above zip file.
After the installation complete, it's recommended to full wipe your device.
Than using adb and fastboot that you can download from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/tool-minimal-adb-and-fastboot-2-9-18.2317790/
plug you device into your computer
reset it to fastboot mode (turn off, hold power, vol + and vol - until the device start than release power button, once the screen shows the options you can release all buttons and choose fastboot mode if its not there)
on the command prompt type:
Fastboot flashing lock
And that's it.

Thank you so much. Your advice's no need to relock the bootloader, i just worry about the information security. Eg: Banking app can work normal?
After updated to oxygen 13, my phone appear the warning: "phone has been unlocked and cant be trusted ..." each time i boot my device. How can i turn off this warning?

There is no reason to worry about that warning. As your bootloader is not locked the only breach is that a user can manually flash another firmware.
But as he will not have the device on hand there is no problem.
My advice is to not relock, many users bricked their devices doing that.
Also everything works just fine, so no need to relock.
