[Q] Getting back onto OTA updates for TMO Note 9 Pie - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Hey guys. I updated using firmware.science to CSAA -- no issues at all. Now that the official OTA update is out, I want to get onto their update so I can get all future updates OTA. Does anyone know of a T-mobile CSAA to CSB3 update, or if not, what I need to revert back to in ODIN in order to get the OTA? Thanks for your time.

Theres an update on xda dev. For going to csaa to csb3. I did the same thing u did only on my verizon note 9. I don't think the update is brand specific because others have used it on different carriers.
Just put it on sd card and let it update the way you did the other one. Then you should be back to normal.

Flash it as is. No need to change the name of it to update.zip. That ended with Ice Cream Sandwich I believe.

note 8 sm-n950U update to oreo from 7.1.1

Hi guys,
I want to know how to update to latest oreo update with all the security patches.
I am following this how-to thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...w-to-install-android-oreo-snapdragon-t3716281 but in the OP the links are broken.
Can anyone update me on this?
The phone is from verizon but I didn't use it on verizon. I got this phone last November. Currently using on Cricket, so probably I don't get automatic updates from Verizon.
my note 8 info:
7.1.1
experience v. 8.5
security patch level Nov 1, 2017
Baseband v. N950USQS2BQK2
Thanks in advance.

I am unsure if you should be on a much newer filmware or not. Sometimes a factory reset can resolve OTA not coming through, this will delete the phone memory though, so back up your data.
You can also get official filmware from sammobile and updato. Just if you want to flash Oreo with Odin, make sure you use the latest version of Odin (3.13.1)

I am on Cricket and using Verizon note 8 that I got from last December. Last update was in November when I still have Verizon. After inserting Cricket sim card, there has never been an update anymore. I turned on Wifi and went into settings> software update to refresh, and there is no awaiting update. I didn't change to unlock firmware (as I do not know how). How do you go about installing the updates to latest Oreo using Odin? I am on 7.1.1 with build 2BQK2

I recommend that you try a factory reset to see if that pushes the OTA update.
If this fails, I will help you step by step with Odin.

question about flashing with odin

I have the Olympic Edition N950N and I see that there is a software update for the phone but it is not showing up in the OTA or with smart switch. If I were to use Odin to update my phone, would the Olympic boot screen and theme be deleted on my phone? Or should I just wait and see if I get the OTA at some point?
I would recommend that you wait for it to become available via OTA rather than install manually. As you might accidentally install the OS for a different variant onto your device and brick it.

Ok, but I saw this for the KTC model, hopefully I will get the OTA soon. If you have a N950N, did you get your update yet? I know the other carriers have also got thier July updates as well. And they look like big updates as well, samfirm said it was 3.5 GB, and I haven't had an update since may with the April security patch. But thanks for your help!

I have already received that update for my device. I have the LG telecom model of the N950N. You should have received yours by now. Guess it must take a little longer for the Olympic edition....

I got an unlocked SM-N960U1 from Amazon. After many updates it's at baseband N960U1UEU1ARL1.
I thought to upgrade to Pie via firmware.science but it only shows these 3 "current versions:"
N960U1UES1ARJ9
N960U1UEU1ZRKP
N960U1UEU1ZRL7
Am I SOL? Any way for me to get One UI on this thing?
search function within xda should give you an answer
I have the same phone and same software version. Did you figure out how to update?
Sent from my SM-N960U1 using Tapatalk
LOL. I hasn't been released for the U1 yet!! Seriously. When it's released, you'll get it via OTA.

Flash it with Odin
Then go here and download the OTA update to ZRKP: https://www.****************/2018/1...-9-0-pie-beta-based-on-samsung-experience-10/
save the zip file to your SD card and sideload it thru the bootloader

Hello. Did you do these steps yourself? Did going from ARL1 back to ARJ9 factory reset your phone or needed you to factory reset to work? Thank you.
Call recording is available on this rom?

Trouble updating Galaxy Note 9

Hi i am new here and need help with updating my Samsung note 9 i still have a baseband N960USQS1ARI5 but will like to update to the latest firmware. i'm using an unlocked AT&T phone. can anyone guide me? I'm not sure if updating the firmware will lock the phone and the process to update, do I just update the firmware in stages as the updates were released till i get to the latest update or can i update straight up to the latest? I am thinking of using Odin, is that a safe way to do this? any help will be appreciated. Lastly, can I change from the AT&T firmware to lets say a none carrier based firmware so as to stop seeing the AT&T logo on boot up? Maybe switch to a firmware that supports global or international? Does anyone have links to an unlocked firmware update i can use, as well? Please help!
I must state that the phone never updates automatically as it always says the software is up to date.

to your last point, at&t phones are notoriously bad at updating
factory unlocked phones will remain forever unlocked and phones unlocked that are bespoke to a specific carrier will also remain unlocked even with Odin flashes providing that the method employed to unlock it was legitimate. Some unlock methods employ root and only trick the phone into thinking its unlocked. Well, once you remove root, and thusly the trick, the unlock is gone. I have ran across rare examples where the person swore up and down that they unlocked their phone with a legit unlock code and that it relocked to a carrier once the sim was inserted and initial programming completed, but i dunno. Sounds weird to me, but every person who said this also said that the phone locked to a carrier other than the one it came from originally. Take that for what its worth, but i still mostly stand by the first couple lines of this section of my diatribe
If you want the at&t crap gone, get the N960U1 firmware and flash it in Odin. You will need the modified version of Odin to flash it so it can ignore the 255 errors the phone throws up from flashing firmware for a carrier (or, in this case, no carrier) on to a phone that it wasnt originally designated (not designed) for
go to sammobile.com/firmwares, get the info for the firmware you want to d/l, get the Frija tool or Samfirm and download the firmware thru one of those as theyre literally 5x faster and flash it

Please help! Question about which firmware to flash

Hey guys,
I have a question about my new note 9 I bought recently. So I bought the phone which was described as a Tmobile unlocked note 9. I noticed the phone is on android 9 still and won't update via the software update or samsung switch PC app. Says I'm on the current version and no available updates. I decided to try and flash the newest update but when I looked at the software information, I saw the following:
One UI version
1.0
Android version
9
Baseband version
N960USQS3CSJ2
Kernel version
4.9.112-16352588
#2 Wed Oct 23 12:37:16 KST 2019
Build Number
PPR1.180610.011.N960USQS3CSJ2
Service Provider SW ver.
SAOMC_SM-N960U_OYN_TMN_PP_0019
28f15f89d33f7ece
TMB/TMB/SPR
So if i'm not mistaken, this phone is originally from Sprint? How should I go about flashing the newest android 10 firmware ? for future updates as well?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks
It does seem that you have the Sprint model of the Note 9. If you cannot update the OS via OTA in the device. you would need to download the update from Sammobile and install it onto your device using Odin.

Thanks, that's what I plan on doing. Should I flash the Sprint or T-Mobile version of the update via Odin?

You can install either OS. Or the Samsung stock OS as all of those will run perfectly in the US variant of the Note 9
