Not getting any notifications in time - Samsung Galaxy S10 Questions & Answers

I'm having an issue where I don't get any notifications until I open the app. For example with gmail, I have to refresh Gmail inside the app in order to get my emails.
Though, I have Sync turned on and power saving mode is off.
Anyone else?

Yes, I've only had this with Pie, it's annoying

Annoying to say at least. How can they release a brand new phone with a firmware that can't even deliver notifications, it's pretty basic stuff and some notifications can be quite important.

Noticed this as well on some apps.. very frustrating. Needs to be fixed ASAP

[Q] Deleting notifications

I've been searching for a way to delete notifications from my neo on both my device and the neo. I'm not sure this feature even exist. Anyone else know???
I really like the gear 2 neo, and the convenience of receiving notification on the watch and never having to pull out my phone is really nice. But, if to delete notifications I now have to not only delete them on the neo but also separately on my phone... then that's not so convenient.
I now find myself deleting notifications twice which is a PITA! This could potentially be a deal breaker for me. Feedback or suggestions anyone???
Hmmm interesting one.
I went back to using the stock Message and Email apps because they seem to be the only ones that display the email/SMS on the watch properly, but when I open the notification on my watch, the notification disappears from my phone.
The only problem I had was when I was using GoSMS, the notification stayed on my phone.
So I think it will only work properly with the stock apps.
I've always used the stock messaging app, but I've also always used the gmail app too. Maybe the gmail app is the main issue because I get tons of email and that's where I notice the problem the most. I'll try accessing my gmail through the stock mail app and see how that works out. Thanks for that suggestion. I'll let u know how it goes

how does stamina mode work?

Looking to get some insight into stamina mode. If i enable it will i still recieve all my notifications? i see it says it shuts off data when screen is off. So do i need to add like hangouts to the ignore list? will i still get regular SMS and MMS messages? Someone explain it to me like im 5 please
Stamina mode restricts data connection when the screen off. For sms, it doesnt need an internet connection so it will pass through.
Turn on stamina mode and add exception to some apps you need notification through when you're not using your phone. In my case, it's only whatsapp that has been excluded.

if I add all my apps that give push notifications (e-mail, social media, transit, etc), does it essentially defeat the purpose of using stamina?

Do you really need all the instant notification of social apps like fb and instagram? It's not like you only use your phone every 3 hours.

Stamina and Gmail
Is anyone successfully using Stamina mode with extended standby and having Gmail whitelisted?
I get no notification from Gmail and the problem seems to be that while my phone receives the push notification from Google that new mail is available it just queues the update for my Gmail account. I assume this from looking at the sync settings for my Google account where it shows a reload or refresh icon beside the Gmail entry.
But after unlocking the phone the synchronization does not happen. I even waited for several hours but nothing happens. I wonder for what the phone is waiting until is starts the sync. Manually syncing in that situation immediately shows the new mail.
Currently I ended up turning off the extended standby and only using the lowered hardware performance from Stamina mode. Its a pity because WhatsApp and Hangouts notifications don't have this problem.
So i used this and only whitelisted hangouts, turned on the stamina clock and i feel like i get better battery with it turned off, i did not see any increase in using it, am i doing something wrong?

Issues with Android 5.0.1

Hello everyone.
I've updated to 5.0.1 and I've been having issues with updates basically I'm not getting notifications for my Emails or WhatsApp or any other app for that matter, i have to manually go into my apps to get my notifications. For example, once I go to my WhatsApp i get my messages all at the same time (iOS style) and also my emails, I have to go into my mail box to refresh to get my emails. Is this an issue or i'm missing something in the settings?
I searched before starting this thread couldn't find anything.

Sounds like you need to do a factory reset. Always good with an update anyway.

tell me, are you using greenify? i had the same issue for a day, until i found whats causing it. i never greenify my apps with notifications first off. greenify has a setting to keep notifications, when i enabled it i stopped getting any notifications. as soon as i disabled it and rebooted, i got notifications again.
I just did a factory reset and it seems that it has solved the issues so far so good.

Google Messenger not turning display on ?

I started using Google Messenger recently, and one thing I noticed, is that when the phone is off to the side, and I get a new text message, the screen doesn't pop on, like it did with stock Messages and Textra.
Is there some Settings somewhere I need to enable that ?

From my experience, you need the Tasker app and set up a profile to turn the screen on. That is the only way I have found that works consistently. You will also need the Secure Settings app.
The Tasker app can seem overwhelming, but if you take your time and read some of the help files, it is actually pretty easy. I use the same app to turn my phone to vibrate when the phone links to my work wifi.

Delayed Notification with Screen Off

I have an Honor Play (COR-L29), and pretty much since day one I've had an issue with delayed push notifications for almost every app from which I receive push notifications. For example, someone will send an email to my Gmail account, but while my screen is off, I will not be notified. The moment I wake the screen, the notification will come through. It's running the latest firmware. In Apps>Special Access>Battery Optimisation I have set ALL apps to NOT ALLOWED, and in Battery>App Launch I have set ALL aps to MANUAL, but this has made no difference. I have also used the Wipe Cache Partition feature several times, and again this makes no difference. I love the phone, but simply can't cope with the notification issue. Does anyone have a solution?

Which one battery settings you used, it's normal mode or power saving mode? If you used power saving mode it will be turn off all your background notification, such as gmail.
And go to settings -> battery -> more battery settings -> check stay connected when device sleeps.
Hope it will help
