Paylib and Xiaomi mi9 - Xiaomi Mi 9 Questions & Answers

Hello,
My question is for french users
Are you able to use Paylib with Xiaomi Mi 9 ??
I use the Caisse Epargne PayLib application. I can configure it correctly and the application is detected in android payment preferences.
But when I put my phone on a payment terminal, nothing happens [emoji26][emoji26]

This may or may not be of help to you, but...
I too am experiencing this "nothing happens" a the terminal when attempting to pay. My Google Pay is all set up etc. However I have learnt of the two following possible solutions:
1. Settings - Wireless & Network - More - Secure element position (this apparently should be set to HCE Wallet, though there are other options which could be tried)
2. Be sure point the top of your phone, near the camera lenses, at the terminal as this is where the NFC chip is
I've yet to test these out though, but thought I'd at least offer some potential tips!

Hi, i also can't pay with google pay. Tested in "thousands" of stores.... i hope they will fix it in next builds.
I was scared it was only a problem of mine.. now i'm a "little" reassured.

You must activate nfc for paylib but it impossible for the moment beccause paylib is not compatible with xiomi phone. I already asked for my mix 2s 4 month ago and I have no answer.

Work Profile - System crash while trying to make Gmail device admin

Hello everyone,
the error described in the title is, unfortunately, a known issue of MIUI since last year. I enrolled my Mi 9 to my company in order to receive my work emails and having access to my calendar. The enrollment has been done with the app 'intelligent HUB' and worked actually fine besided test last step. That is about granting Gmail admin privileges. This is unfortunately failing with the following call stack:
Code:

As I said earlier this is a common problem, there are more threads out there, unfortunately without a real solution. Some people said that switching to the China version solved their problem. So my question does anyone know if there is a custom room available which fixes this error? If yes the next question would be, as I'm going to modify the device with a custom room if it's still compliant for the 'intelligent HUB' app.? Does anyone have experience with that?
It is such a great device but not having access to my work stuff is quite a big problem for me.
Thank you all for your help.

My company also enforces the use of administrator mode if I want to receive business mail. I use gmail for exchange account with administrator privileges, no problems - xiaomi.eu 9.5.1 and earlier.

I use MS sharepoint and teams without any problems. Mail, calendar and business contacts via exchange server also works without problems. Try to set up access to your business email without an application from VMWare - intelligent hub.

Unfortunately, my company enforces to use VMware intelligent hub. And actually the app is not the problem, this is working fine. Granting the admin privileges is crashing the settings app constantly. I've read that this problem doesn't occur with the rooms based on the China version. The xiamo.eu room is based on the China version I still have the global version. Unfortunately, my bootloader is still looked as I received my device today... So I have to wait and still use my old iphone

Wich version of Miui do you have?
Wysłane z mojego MI 9 przy użyciu Tapatalka
Miui 10.2 Stable (10.2.24.0)
I was able to unlock my bootloader today and I installed the EU room. unfortunately, with that, I can't install google apps from the google play store [work profile]. So this is not working as well. I might gonna try to flash the Chinese version and look my bootloader again as with the EU Room Google pay is not reliable at all.
Exactly the same problem here (MIUI 10.2.2.0). Any solution?
I couldn't get it to work even with EU room. Even though I pass all safety checks and everything I'm not able to download apps like Gmail from the work play store. I tried it without root and also with magdisk and magdisk hide. I also changed the props of the rom. I don't know how the work play store figures that the device is modified. Until now it seems nobody has any clue how to solve it and as there are not so many ppl affected it seems to me it's not really a topic of interest. If anyone finds a solution please let me know.

[APP] GadgetBridge - an alternative to MiFit app

There is a disclaimer that you can not use your MiBand 4 with any other app except MiFit, which is unacceptable to me.
I was not aware of this at the time of buying! If I was this is a real dealbraker.
If you value your privacy and you are uncomfortable to send your personal data to China,
GadgetBridge is an open-source alternative app, that you can use with your MiBand 4. (gadgetbridge.org)
How to pair your band with GadgetBridge:
1. Pair it with MiFit app first and leave it paired (you don't have to give MiFit any permission except for Bluetooth).
2. Uninstall MiFit from the phone
3. Pair the band with GadgetBridge according to instructions in the wiki (codeberg.org/Freeyourgadget/Gadgetbridge/wiki/Mi-Band-4)
The support for MiBand 4 in GadgetBridge is now experimental as of writing this and there might be some missing functions.
I have found that if you set a reminder in MiFit, there is no way you can change (or disable) this reminder in GadgetBridge.
So keep that in mind.
Ah, thanks! Will definately try this as I am not keen on having MiFit constantly ON altho i bought my MB4 with knowledge that I'll have to give away everything kit only to Google but Xiaomi too..
it's possible to test Gadgetbridge app and use it with mi fit installed???
thanks
Gadgetbridge was designed as an opensource alternative to Mi Fit, so I'd say that there was no intention to make working both apps at the same time. It should be safe to try it, though not sure how apps will handle conflicts while accessing the data on Mi Band..

N&F can be overwhelming, especially for new users, but IMHO it's totally worth it. I am facing only one bug currently - no ability to change the order of menu items on the Mi Band (other users are reporting that it's working fine..). Otherwise you can simply uninstall Mi Fit and continue using only N&F. Also for basic usage, Mi Fit offers almost all features - what is your reason to turn away from Mi Fit?

Mi fit for me after a few days is acceptable....
I think that 2 app for the pretty 'same' things..
I seen this post and got gadgetbridge working with the mi band 4, thank you!
Notify and fitness for Mi Band is nr1
You can also just download Mi Band Master, it can authenticate without ever having Mi Fit installed.

Hey, i have a couple of questions. Can we use n&f to send map directions to the band?
Also, there's another app with similar functions, called tools and mi band. Have you tried that too? Could you give me sort of a review?

N&F has the option to link Google maps and Mi Band, but I've never tried it so not sure how well it works.
I briefly tried Tools and Mi Band app, but found it too simple and lacking in features compared to N&F, so I uninstalled it. Also I recall having some issue with HR monitor, but don't remember the details.. You can purchase it and if you don't like it, there is 15 min "no hassle" money return and 48 hours period where you can ask for a refund via form in Google play store. N&F uses in-app purchases, so there is no refund option. IMHO N&F is worth the money, but your preferences might be different.

Can GadgetBridge be used to feed Mi Band's data to Google Fit?
I understand GadgetBridge's intention is to un-bind from 3rd party "clouds".
Still, I'm wondering, can GB be used to feed data from Mi Band 4 to Google Fit?
After pairing the band with GB, I've uninstalled MiFit app, but has left Google Fit.
After a check, it appeared that Google Fit still shows steps. Extras, like Sleep data, move minutes are either not synced, or shows some irrelevant small numbers.
Is it the expected/intended behavior for GB to provide steps data to Google Fit? Or is it smth "fanthom" that I shouldn't rely upon?

GB sync with Google fit is a simple NO (https://github.com/Freeyourgadget/Gadgetbridge/issues/351).
Google Fit can be configured to use whatever sensor's available and then combine information from various sources (phone itself, smart band, watch,..) while trying avoiding duplicate data (more or less successfully). To disable internal tracking - open Google Fit, profile, settings and turn off "track your activities". In that case Fit will collect and show only data synced from other apps (Mi Fit, N&F,..). Depending on the phone and your usage patterns, Google Fit can collect quite accurate steps count (but can be also way off), so you might need to do some experimenting with your setup to verify its accuracy. I used to use phone only and it was very good in tracking longer outside walks (phone in the front pocket of jeans). Unfortunately it also tracked bus rides as walks, so I stopped using it. I have a new phone now, so going to try it again.

I'm bamboozled by that Google fit error margin. It's either super high, or almost no error. Nothing in between. When i first switched from miui to aex rom, it used to be like "you did 8000 steps" even though i never left home that day. Now, it's so accurate. Smh. Ofc, there's the hand gestures that throw in error in mi band.

Thanks very much for this app. I was very pissed that Mi Fit doesn't let me export passive heart rate data that it auto records. Also they make exporting data a huge pain with their servers not working half the time.
It's my health data and I should have access to it, in fact it should belong to me. This is to say nothing of the privacy issues of Huami having access to my personal data in the first place.
A FOSS solution like Gadgetbridge is the ideal way that health data should be stored.
Thanks very much.. And please continue developing this amazing app whenever convenient for you. I'll share this with more of my friends with a Mi Band.
Can anyone tell me what the update files for Mi Band 4 are called? The only thing I can't find in the wiki is the name of Mi band 3 and not Mi band 4.
When unpacking the mi Fit apk the names in the res and fw folder do not allow any conclusions about the exact model.
I don't like to always include another app for the update process.
With my Mi band 3 it worked fine so far.

[GPS/Waze + CamSam Plus]: Cannot use both at the same time.

Hello,
I don't know if you know I use the handy application CamSam Plus (warning of "danger zones") in addition to Waze.
CamSam Plus has an interesting feature, a widget that remains visible above other applications (like Waze for example).
Until now, both applications have worked perfectly and cohabited together on my smartphones (Honor, Huawei, Samsung and Oneplus), but this is no longer the case since I bought the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro (and I'm very disappointed).
I tried a lot of tricks in the CamSam application settings, in the rights manager (put all rights) and even in the batterrie (saver, no restrictions).
But nothing works, I still have the problem (it wouldn't be because of this double GPS chip thing, can we disable one on both to test?).
Have any of you ever had this kind of bp and if so, would you know what to do about it?
In advance thank you for your lights.
same problem on Redmi Note 8 with MIUI 11

Questions for Chinese model users only

Hi
This is a post directed to anyone who owns/has purchased their X50 5G from China as I am trying to confirm that they have the same issues with their phone as me, or whether my issues are specific to my phone, so thanks in advance!
I've run the phone from factory reset a few times as I've encountered a few problems or have noticed differences to what the user guide says to what the phone displays within the menus.
Most importantly (for me) is the fact that their is no Google Location History available. Even before adding an account, if I go to Additional settings > Google > Account services > Location > More Settings I get access to Emergency Location Services, Google Location Accuracy but Google Location History is greyed out and so cannot be tuned on when logged in, the device is not registered for location history.
Also, once Google Assistant is installed and set up, if the Home button is pressed for the allotted time, it may appear, but no voice recognition works, even when the app is selected as the default option. Also, I've noted that within the user guide and online, I've seen an option within the Convenience Aid (although on my phone its called Convenience Tools) menu called Awake Google Assistant, but my phone does not have that.
Maybe it's just that I haven't set the correct permissions as they are way more complicated than standard Android settings, but that is not necessarily a bad thing.
In fact there seems to be a lot of differences between what the user guide says and what's actually on the phone.
I've also noticed that conference calls do not seen to work when I get two calls and try to merge.
Can anyone provide any useful comments to either say that they experience the same, or it works from stock, or how to resolve any of the above?
Cheers
I have this same phone same issues, plus you can't set google messages or any other messaging app as default, you can't remove there app market. And NO GOOGLE DISCOVER ON LEFT SWIPE SCREEN.

Wow, i might be opted for the same. This Chinese models or best to say it...Realme fails as a brand. It's their responsibility. It's pretty much obvious they sell stupid products. per se they have their own brand or the **** they care about global consumers..ad why they make it available outside their country.
Realme is a stupid brand nothing more. I'll try to sell this trash too.

If your don't mind, maybe you could post how did you recovery your phone in the future.
Good luck.

Solution/Alternative for Google Pay

Hello Mates
After using and searching for many methods for installing GMS(apart from VM apps) which is not workable at the moment, i can settle myself for all things but missing Google Pay which is more common in UPI payments in India.
I have found another way to use UPI payment but not sure if it's work because right now I don't have indian sim card with me which is required for sending sms.
1. Amazon Pay
2. Airtel UPI payment (in Airtel Thanks App)
In above both apps I didn't get error like (This app won't work without Google Services or Cannot work in Rooted device)
Hope someone can try above and enjoy using UPI in your device.
Thanks
I have used iCard for contactless payments and it works normally.

it doesn't require Google Pay/Google account?
No, you just should to create an account on their site.
More easy to use (I think) it is Curve, you don't need to move the money into a new account (as on iCard), you need just to enrole your cards into the app. I couldn't use it for contacltless payments yet (the phisical card didn't arrive yet), but I have use it for few online transactions.

Hello friend. How do you use it in contactless since there is no button? Yesterday without doing nothing it worked on pos for me but today I stayed there waiting and nothing happened. Is anything particular you do when you want to pay?

Hi there, here is how it works(assuming you activated Curve Pay and already set it as default NFC payment method):
- Unlock your phone and tap it to the POS, then it will "buzz" and the Curve app will request additional authentication
- Use your fingerprint to authenticate and tap it again to the POS
Basically it is a 2-step(you have to tap it twice on the POS) while GPay is just one tap with unlocked phone.
If, for various reasons, the Curve application does not react when the phone approaches the POS, open the application, go to Account - Settings - Curve pay.
Make sure NFC is enabled (I tried to pay several times without activating NFC - I forgot to activate it).

For notifications (on Yahoo mail, for example) I use microG settings.
Install Core first, see if you receive notifications as you want; I don't know on what occasion I also installed proxy ...
