How do we install OTA updates easily on a rooted One Power? - Motorola One Power Questions & Answers

I rooted my device last month but I keep getting annoying notification to install update. Tried multiple times but failed, I know that OTA updates can be installed after unrooting but is there any other way?

Question about ROOT access?

I figured, I would get the best response here... If you ROOT an Android phone, will downloading OTA updates through your phone brick it? I read an article about the new OTA for the EVO and it will brick rooted devices.
Misinformation. It would brick it if you applied it twice in sequence, not if you were rooted. You need the stock recovery to apply updates anyway, if you do get one it will not harm the phone because it can't be applied.
In the thread when the final OTA was coming out, lots of people that were rooted, said they installed it, it worked fine, but they lost root. So then they have to obtain root again.
So, I'd assume it would work fine if everything else was stock... you just might loose root.
So your saying, that if I were to install an OTA update through a rooted Android device running stock firmware, it would go through successfully without bricking it. But, if I ran the update a second time it would brick it. Correct?
If you're on a rooted stock rom, assuming you haven't flashed a custom recovery, the phone's recovery utility will not allow you to flash an OTA update because of a signature mismatch. I'm not sure what happened with the evo, but I don't believe it can happen with the nexus.
Okay, thanks? But I would still like some more input on this situation.
Pay attention

If your not rooted you can still flash OTA update leaks, there are plenty out there. If you want custom roms then you have to root. The stock recovery only flashes stock updates, not rooted updates. If your not getting it by reading the forums, then I suggest you stay on stock, and wait for OTA update.

No, this only happens with this specific update with the EVO.
Alright, great! Thanks guys. So since I believe the nexus one already got the offical OTA, did any of you lose ROOT access?
You WILL loose root when you update from an OTA update.
I had a rooted FRF50 and went to the FRF83 update and lost root/custom recovery, everything else was fine though.
I ask that you all forgiveth the newb nature of my question in advance, but if my phone has been rooted, and is currently running FRF50, is there anything I can do to the phone to have it automatically update using OTA? I ask because I received the notice for the OTA update the other day, but being rooted, got a signature mismatch error. (The only reason my phone is rooted is bc I bought it used that way-I wish I could've had it bone stock instead!) I know I can somehow do a manual update, but I'm trying to figure out for further future OTA updates if there's a way that I can have my phone simply automatically apply them.
Well, first off, thanks for hijacking.... AND, I have been doing a bunch of research. You should find the official build of froyo (FRF85B correct?) and manually update it. Just use it unrooted and it'll be easier when an OTA update comes along

[Q] Update

Recently my phone received an OTA update that I didn't want to install. I kept pushing remind me later but for two days in a row around the same time (between midnight and 1:30 am) my phone showed me the update with no option to remind me later. It then proceeded to reboot on its own and try to install the update. It failed both times thank GOD! However, my real concern is likely with AT&T because I believe this update will patch the exploit TowelRoot used. Once I calmed down (I was highly pissed) I used Titanium BackUp to freeze the app AT&T software update app, and now I've not been bothered with those irritating update prompts. Has anyone else tried to install the update while rooted? If so, was it successfully done? Has this issue I described happened to anyone else?

Do you have a custom recovery and/or rooted? If so, the OTA fails. The reminder will probably come back in a day or so.
Same thing happened to me. I received the notice literally seconds after rooting and flashing custom recovery. I tried it anyway for ****s and grins, and it failed of course. After rebooting post failure, mine also stated it was up to date.
I did it the hard way, flashed system and radio using fastboot. All up to date now. :good:
Bone stock no root or anything. Would hard reset work? Or will it reprompt soon?
It's hard to say exactly, but given the image was just posted by Google today, and OTAs are already pushing out, you may see it again tomorrow.
I cleared the framework. Still nothing.
Connect to a charger, it reappear and I was able to update. BTW make sure you on WiFi
So wifi connect to charger and clear framework. Will try. Anyone else have solutions?
Yet to repop update. Still getting the up to date...

Same thing is happening on my Nexus 7 2013. I've tried it 5 different times.
Sent from my SM-N900V
Same here... fully stock and unrooted Nexus 6 with VZW sim. Got an update notification. Tried to update and the notification just went away and now says I'm up-to-date even thought the update never installed... still on 5.0.
Any solutionsnyet? Hard reset phone does nothing btw
Man... Was really hoping to wake up to the update popping up again. No dice.
att nexus 6 failed 5.0.1
Got notification on att nexus 6 completely stock, for the update to 5.0.1, after accepting the install and agreeing for the restart, it never restarted or updated anything. Still on 5.0. Checking for updates shows that i'm "up to date" and attempting to side load the update via ADB fails.
Got the ota update just now. Install was successful.

Update for LG G4 T-Mo, have root.

So, I have a rooted G4 with Tmo, however I have been receiving an alert to update my device for the last few days, but am not sure what to do. The alert isn't going away and its annoying. What can I do?
Download titanium backup and freeze update app.
What's the update app, what if it isn't visible in tb?

In TiBu:
Freeze -
com.tmobile.pr.adapt
In Root Explorer -
system/pri-app/
LGUpdateCenter.apk changed to
LGUpdateCenter.apk.bak
system/app/LTDDM/
LTDDM.apk changed to
LTDDM.apk.bak
You should probably figure out how to apply the update because it makes the phone 1000000% better. You can root it again after you update it or just update it using a rooted image and save some time.

Agreed.
After updating to 10N, you can then block future OTA Updates via my previous post.
I updated to 10N using this method. Works great:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-g4/development/rom-g4-h811-10n-stock-rooted-rom-t3188858
so the update you have been receiving was or is for 10n? if so then just flash the 10n xtreme rom from micromod and you will be all set for it includes tweaks and no more ota surprises too
The update isn't working for me. I used the "Low Effort Root," and I may have made a half-hearted attempt at blocking OTA, but I keep getting prompted for the update.
Accepting it causes the phone to to reboot and try to install, but then it just says "Error" and hangs. After a few minutes, it reboots, and I am still at H81110h.
Any ideas? I like the idea of low effort, and not flashing another ROM. I would rather just take the update, and re-root if needed.

System Update installed, but keeps telling me to restart and install

I am on the latest version as far as I can tell (LMY48I - VERIZON), but I keep getting the message to restart and install. It doesn't work because I have gone back to being rooted. Besides, I am already on the latest version. I went to all the trouble of un-rooting and stock, updated, re-rooted (twice) but the message keeps coming back. Anyone else?
The latest version for Verizon is LMY48M and can be found at https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#shamu. Since you are rooted the easiest way to upgrade is http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/using-image-to-update-nexus-6-data-loss-t3053158.
