How is the gaming on exynos treo? - Samsung Galaxy S10 Questions & Answers

I have s10 exynos 8gb variant and whenever i play pubg it lags and stutter even at lower graphics settings and also get pretty warm.
Does anyone confirm about this please.

Haven't heard great things about those Mali drivers. PUBG has been solid on Adreno for the past 2 generations. It's pretty smooth on the 821, but the CPU portion of the chip heats up quickly.

Previously I had Lg V30+ it has only 4gb ram and it played much better than my present s10. Had very high hopes for gaming on this as they advertised gaming for all its iteration.

I have no problem playing PUBGM on exynos. I use smooth + extreme. It is smooth as butter

Wow you are lucky man. I am just pissed off with this phone, i dont what exactly is the problem with my phone. I play only pubg so its really a deal breaker for me. I cant even take this to service center as to they would not agree that there is any problem with it.
BTW which variant you use.

S10+ G975F/DS. Maybe it is the vapour chamber in s10+ which helps in playing the game smoothly.

i have exynos s10 plus. chinese version run smoothly but commercial veraion lagging so hard

The 835 can handle PUBG on "HDR", which I believe is the max for visuals. Smooth (low) and extreme frame rate gives 60fps, but this has been doable for a while.
Any chance you can try Fortnite on epic, or PUBG maxed out?

I play pubg at smooth plus ultra graphics which is low for a flagship lineup smartphone by all standard and still my s10 struggles to give consistent frame rates.
It was a very bad decision at my end in buying this phone.

Too late to return? Smooth in PUBG is meant for midrange like SD636, 670, etc. Or those that want the 60fps mode. Stable FPS & low ping are essential in online games esp PUBG/Fortnite.

This may be because the s10 does not have a heatsink, only s10+ does.

Well, that can't be true. Though I have a s10+(exynos) and I am able to play pubg at smooth+extreme or HDR+ultra.
My Gf has a s9 (exynos) and she can play pubg on smooth +extreme.
I don't think there should be any problem with s10 until and unless pubg has not been optimised for s10 yet. I would suggest reporting s10 exynos optimizations through ingame support to developers

S10 has a heat sink pipe and that to be a bigger one in comparison to its previous generations. The major difference is that the s10+ has a vapor cooling chamber tech which is more efficient then a heat stink.

The gameplay is not bad. It is super smooth. No FPS drops for me.
HDR+ultra is the maximum what Pubg offers. The other modes are locked by PUBG and are not available on any mobile device. Can be enabled through emulator.
Pubg is smooth as butter for me.
I think you have a bad device just replace it or try reflashing the firmware.

Yes but the game runs smoothly on s9 as well without frame drops. So there should not be any problem with the s10

Everyone having problem playing PUBG do the following.
1. Update game launcher ( Samsung just released an update)
2. Log out of the game
3. Hit repair on the right Corner on the login screen
4. Tick all the boxes, done
5. Restart the game and let it download the updates again
6. Restart again and then try to play PUBG
7. OPTIONAL: Try switching off the Dolby atoms
Let me know if this works

Is this Apple propaganda?

http://iphone.appleinsider.com/arti...r-graphics-performance-vs-apple-iphone-6-plus
I have see a Note 4 running GTA on YouTube,, and it was lagging badly..
Yes gpu delivers lower performance than iphone 6 but its not poor .both gpus have same power but 2k lowers note 4 performance but its still more powerful than ipad air which has lower res.
And the video u saw on youtube is quallcom version of note 4 and adreno gpu s always lagged on gta games on high setting due to lack of optimzation.

So because it doesn't do well in one benchmark the GPU is somehow worthless? :silly: According to apple insider apparently the Geforce GTX 660TI is faster than an AMD 290X. That's some quality reporting right there.
Well I'm no expert but look up GTA Note 4 on YouTube, looks terribly laggy.
I'm hoping to get a Note 4 - but not if it can't perform..
Outside of that being Apple dedicated website, running just one benchmark and writing nonsense (they start writing about Note 4, then post preliminary??? cost analysis of GS 4???? from 1.5 yr ago, WTF) I'm not sure if it's propaganda or somebody overdose on something or maybe forgot his medication
I think both.
Not optimized. Performance WILL be fine on other games. Don't worry.

It's not lag. The camera just has a really low fps. Look at his other videos and even his hand moving looks like it "lags". It's just the camera don't worry.
You will be able to play most games, just not at the maximum settings, these tests are much more intensive than the mobile games, to the people talking about the screen resolution, there is also an offscreen test which doesn't care about the resolution and the scores are still lower.

offscreen tests care about res just not screen res. all offscreen tests done in 1080p and a8 gpu and note 4 gets around 17 fps on offscreen tests. and both higher than my ipad air and i can play everything at full without a stutter i dont think there will be any problem.
Oh no.. a poorly optimized game isn't as fast as it is on an iPhone. Oh jeez it MUST perform awful.. right?

Oh, cmon guys, little reality check: Note 4 is one of, if not the fastest phone on the market ATM. If it can not play the games properly, nothing else can. In most benchmarks Exynos is as fast or faster than Snapdragon. There is something about this particular benchmark that makes Exynos run poorly, that's why it was picked for this article. And how come no Note4 Snapdragon version? Maybe because Snapdragon doesn't have the issue? The most opinionated bunch of crap I read in a long while.

How has your experience been with 3D Performance & Emulators?

For those of you that already have your handsets, how has your experience been with the performance of 3D games and more intensive emulators? Have there been any games that have shown noticeable choppiness or sluggishness?
Edit: I read in another thread that Real Racing is giving Snapdragon owners problems. Also - I'm a bit curious as to how PPSSPP is treating people.
I have no issues running epsxe with open gl and all setting at maximum. Playing ff9 atm. Emulators shouldn't be an issue.
I just play Asphalt 8 on my Note 4 Exynos and it gets around 60fps at max settings.
I try few 3D games in my Exynos N910C include Real Racing 3 and Death Trigger 2. So far so great. No issue.

Could you post gamebench prints of the performance on some games?
Another gamebench video (exynos)
My device is finally here and it performs great (Exynos - C version)! But it gets warm (just warm no hot) fast and the throttle is very strong!! My Antutu after playing minion rush for 10 minutes was 35k and after a lot of gaming my GFX T-rex on-screen was 8 and off screen was 16. With the phone unused I got 25 and 37 fps for each of them. It is hot here (28C = 82F) but this throttle is too powerful! I'd rather have the phone getting hotter with better performance. Don't know if that would be possible.
The Galaxy Note 4 has a terrible 3d performance, i imagine it is because it is rendering at 1440, my HTC One M7 did far better at 1080. A few games that are jittery messes are anything GTA and also Gangstar, not impressed at all. Perhaps somebody will hack it so that it renders at a lower resolution, because really the snapdragon 805 is not up to intense 3d games at native resolution.
I have better gaming experience in Asphalt 8 with the Note 4 Exynos+1440p than with my Note 3 Qualcomm+1080p.

I'm using NOMone Resolution Changer to set display to 1080p to play games. When you change the resolution everything looks wrong (big icons and etc) but the games are actually perfect but less pixels to push so better performance. If you are rooted and mind gaming performance, this is a must have.
Just curious - since this is the one thing that might make me change my mind about not rooting my phone - Does NOMone Resolution Changer know to automatically change the resolution only when a game is specifically opened? Or do you need to change the resolution first - and then start the game?
For the guy saying that GTA is stuttery.. its nothing to do with the resolution. Its all to do with heat and the Samsung DVFS voltage and frequency control.
With DVFS enabled after a few mins of GTA it slows down a little bit and starts to get stuttery because it throttles too easy and underclocks the CPU and GPU by about half.
If your rooted and disable DVFS you get the full GPU and CPU speed in games like GTA vice city and its extremely fluid.

Second option unfortunately. If you find an application that does that, please tell me. I didn't look for it though as NOMone is working great and I'm a bit afraid of messing with the resolution too much.
Just got myself an exynos note 4. Very nice phone but aside from a little touchwiz stutter, games such as real racing 3 and clash of clans stutter. My nexus 4 ran them fine. Did a quick antutu benchmark to see whats up and this is what i got without flight mode on. What do you think? Benchmarks say my phone should handle them with ease but thats not the case. Anyone with a solution?

Probably some rogue app you got running. Reset like he said or restart. No stutter on this old games so no fix required. Emulators have been good tho getting over 30fps in a few n64 games mupen64 that have tried, dolphin still not the best speed. DraStic was made for the note line. Runs awesome with each game I have.
Has to be coc related. I read a few reviews on the play store from note 4 users who have seen this as well. Much more demanding games are running great so ill just wait on an update.

Fortnite Running Deferentially on different Note 8 variants

Hmm not sure, but I'm guessing it's due to the different SoC? Not sure if true or not, but I had read once that the Snapdragon was slightly better for 3d graphics while the exynos was slightly better for multitasking and battery life. That could potentially explain it, but it could also just be something coded wrong in the app itself (it's beta) that might get fixed in a future update. Speculation only of course
Its the same with PUBG mobile. Snapdragon variant can play HDR and Ultra Frame rate (40fps) while exynos only Hd and high. (30fps). I dont know why the do that to similar devices.

Probably because of the different SoC.
you can play pubg on 60fps there is an app called gfx tools in playstore. you can select hdr but it really heats up the phone and i couldnt really get a good fps with it. kernel keeps lowering cpu speed even though dvfs is disabled. but low graphics on 60fps is very nice.

It's disappointing that the Exynos variant currently is stuck on Medium while the Snapdragon one reaches Epic. I know there's a performance difference, but it's not supposed to be THAT big.
Hopefully, Epic will improve performance.

Phone heating up when playing PUBG mobile

Hey guys, I have been playing PUBG mobile for about 2 months now on stock, rooted OOS stable.
I have had the phone heating up after 1 game that it becomes uncomfortable to hold. I play with my case off to improve heat dissipation. I tried lowering clock speeds to about 1.8GHz to reduce heating, but it didn't help.
Also, I notice significant lag and frame drops in my third consecutive game, possibly due to thermal throttling. I never play when I am charging my phone.
Fellow PUBG players, what do you guys do? Do you use a different ROM/kernel? Do you adjust settings Within the game?
Thanks in advance.

I hate the thermal throttling that occurs on this phone. I used to use GFX Tool to reduce the graphics settings for PUBG in order to prevent it, but even that isn't working now. The phone heats up like it's been put inside an oven, and I need to take off my TPU case for it to not overheat and shut off. Even Redmi Note 3's don't heat up as much or get throttled like this phone does. Simply irritating.

I've given up on it at this point. I've tried out completely stock OOS, stock Lineage, heavily modified Lineage/RR/Omni and yeah nothing seems to work. I'm just sick and tired of this phone just after a year of owning it. This sucks.

the phone gets hot and the game lag when I'm in a room that has a hot temperature and it's summer
can someone agree that downgrading to nougat is better for gaming?
Phones are not suitable for gaming. End of story.
None of my phones were able to keep going without throttling significantly.
It's down to basic physics.
Well, OnePlus 3T is not optimized for PUBG. Or let's PUBG didn't optimize the game for older devices. If your device has Snapdragon 835 or 845 PUBG will run smoothly. Or if you have 6xx series chipsets that was released in 2018 they would run smoothly too. TBH PUBG will be better in a tablet than a phone. Get tab S3 or S4 or even latest iPad which is a lot cheaper can handle game flawlessly. But OnePlus 3T has become a old man now.

Nope, it heats up, becomes very choppy. Coming from oneplus 6, I know i am spoiled but still, very very disappointed with note 9's PUBG performance. I have to run it on smooth graphics and extreme fps, only to be able to get a decent playable experience
I think Snapdragon version is better for PubG.
However if you want to play PubG on the Exynos variant you wouldn't get the best experience as you will encounter heat up resulting in thermal throttling.
I would go with another phone if you really want to play PubG at max settings. If not then the Note 9 is a great daily
