Strange camera behavior when using AI button - Xiaomi Mi 9 Questions & Answers

Hi all
I've just run into one of the strangest problems.
I have assigned the "open the rear camera" option to a long press on the so-called AI button.
Strange enough, pictures taken in the camera app opened after long pressing the AI-button, don't save on the device. They just disappear and are not visible in the gallery either.
When I open the camera-app with the regular shortcut, taking pictures works normally and I can find these pictures in the gallery as expected.
I really can't get my head around this. Is it a bug? Can anybody else replicate this?

me too

Same here reported the problem in another thread earlier already

Global , and the AI button double click to go to the Camera
Weird that not more people report this problem.
**edit** Does work with setting click twice volume down key, you will get the normal camera mode.
The mode the camera gets in when pressing the AI button has just 3 modes and doesnt save pictures, very very weird bug.

Global Rom indeed.
I mapped the AI button to the camera in the settings menu. There's no way to choose which app opens, there's a limited list and one of the options is "rear camera".
What Magst64 says is correct: only 3 modes in that camera app and pictures cannot be saved.
I'll see if there's any way to make a bug report.

im stuck on China rom until i unlock bootloader, so cannot check.
i would suggest to raise this bug on the MIUI forum.

Camera Button [SOLVED]

I downloaded a 3rd party camera application and I love it. My question is how do I set that to be the default when I press the camera button. I looked in quick launch and didn’t see anything for the camera key. I don’t have ADB available until later tonight so if needed id prefer a terminal code. This would be a big help considering I have to keep an icon of it on my screen and go to it and click instead of just hitting a camera button!
Thanks in advance!

It would have to be a setting within the application itself. Which camera app are you using? Camera Zoom? I know snapphoto has an option for you to set it as a default camera

Camera Button: Can I change what it does?

Hi, is it possible to change what happens when I press the camera button on my Xperia T? I would like it to start recording audio, so I can quickly and effortlessly start recording, rather then having to turn the screen on, navigate to the app, open, then press record.
Thanks
Yes,with a Xposed module called Xposed Additions.

I installed it but there's something wrong, when I run the app it says "Missing System Service: The service is not enabled. If you have just updated the module please reboot. Otherwise make sure xposedbridge is installed and that this module is enabled."
I do have a rooted phone.
You are new in this read something about xposed framework thats the only way to do that easier
OK I sorted out that problem, the app works fine now.
Does anyone know how to use this app? How do I set it to record audio on pressing the camera button?

You can't set it to record audio directly, as far as I know (never saw that in the options), but theoretically you should be able to set it to be able to open an app when pressing the camera button. You need to set conditions (while screen off or on), and then reasign the button to the function you want. It's not a complicated app.

I've been trying to find a tutorial or guide for this app but I can't. Either I'm stupid or it's not as easy as it seems.
Could someone help me out? I just want my audio recording app to launch when I press the camera button.

It's not that hard, you just need to press the "Buttons" (Configure button re-map settings), and set profiles for when the screen is on/off. As far as I know, you can't set it to open an app while the screen is off, you'd need the screen to be on first. Aside from that, you could also try reading the button labels/descriptions, which might help. Also, there aren't that many buttons either, so just start pressing buttons and see what they do.

All I can do for a button is add conditions. I can add conditions fine, but I can't see how to launch an app under those conditions.
Edit: Actually I figured it out but the program doesn't work.

I tested it out a few days ago, and it worked for me (used it to open a different camera app than the default one). Maybe it's the ROM you're on.

I have the stock rom, never changed it.

I can't find my raw photos

I have the rear camera set to Save RAW and JPEG files. I also have the camera app set to save to SD card. However, when I take a picture, I only get a JGP. I've looked in the DCIM subdirectories on both the SD card and Internal memory. I only see the JPGs on the SD card.
I've got to just be missing something stupid. Any ideas what that may be?

Was about to ask the same question. Where's the raw???
did you switch your camera into Pro mode? I think it won't shoot RAW in Auto or burst mode. Otherwise you'll have 2 pictures next each other, with JPG and DNG extensions.

Shooting in PRO mode did the trick. Thanks.
So, where do I turn on "Pro" mode?
I can't believe that I'm having this much trouble. [HeadSlap]

I don't know why that was so hard for me. But I appreciate your help.
Another awesome and useful (for me anyways) tip, when recording VIDEO with the flash on, you can tap centre of screen and drag the flash brightness adjustment up or down to adjust. I've been wanting this feature since my Note 4 and it finally exists.

You can also say "Open camera in Pro mode" with Bixby
Still, where is the RAW copy saved? I can't see it anyhere with "My Files" neither in gallery. Adobe Lightroom shows nothing if I only leave the "RAW" option checked. Yes, of course I have tried in Pro mode and the RAW saving is enabled.
LE : Problem solved. You can't use custom color tone. Only thing is, i didn't get the error when i switched into Pro mode.
Sorry, how can I turn custom color tone off.

This has been a really helpful discussion for me, pretty much a neubie, though only realised this when I hadn't tried swiping right in camera in over a year of use!
Could someone be kind enough to share how can I turn custom color tone off. I'm not exactly begging, well actually I am.

Sorry for the really late reply. I hope you found out by now.
If not, you just have to open the "Tone" tab which is in line with the other settings like ISO, exposure time etc and just reset the setting
hi guy, are you ok with a problem? Can you check saving raw file => switch to camera pro mode => reset filter to Standard mode => take picture (raw, jpg)

Camera question for a moving subject

I am sorry if this has been asked before, but I am struggling on the phone and on the go, and I confess I am having a hard tim multitasking with this one.
For those who know about the Samsung camera, where you used to long press the shutter button and the camera would snap up to 100 photos of a subject whilst in motion, say someone jumping up and down, and you would be able to chose the best one of the entire jumping session...how can I make this with the Huawei camera?
Thank you so much.

Same with the p20 pro
Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
How is it the same? When I press it... Once or long press it... Only one photo gets snapped...
It is the same, long pressing the button takes multiple shots in quick succession. Burst shoot is an option in settings but was already enabled on mine. It shows as one shot in the gallery until you open the photo, then they all show up in series
Enable Burst in settings

Yes, I have found out now why I wasn't getting that option before, because my settings were for 40 MP.
and it only works when you have them on 10 MP
Thank you so much!

Photo's not saved when phone is locked while taking picture

I have set the AI button to open the camera after 2 clicks, which it does, also of course when the phone is locked.
In this state when you make a picture, you get the result with a No/Yes selection under the picture once you took it.
Whatever you select there however, the picture is not saved on the device and just disappears
Is this yet another bug or am i missing something ?
Same
Same here! I don't get it.. the phone seems pretty buggy
Yep it is... Try to bind camera app on for example double click Vol- then it works
