Yes.
You cannot unlock the bootloader on the Amazon Exclusive version. So no custom ROM possible.

Amazon is not allowing to do that or is Motorola's policy? I was thinking in requesting unlock the bootloader from Motorola's website myself.

I am guessing that it was Amazon's policy as they are "subsidizing" the cost of the phone by branding it Prime Exclusive (with Amazon apps, etc).
Pretty sure you will simply get an error if you request the unlock code. BTW, if you successfully received a code (which you wouldn't in this case), your warranty would be voided even if you didn't ultimately apply the code on your phone.

That sucks! I got it just to put custom ROM on it. $129.00 worth the try, but what a shame. Not even a single method to try root?

There's no financial cost to unlock your boot loader, its free.

Thanks for your reply.
I was going off a FAQ in the General section
Please note, In order to flash any custom Recoveries, you need to have unlocked Bootloader. Barring the open Bounty, the only viable option right now is to buy an unlock code from Motorola.

Motorola does not charge you for the boot loader unlocking code, the only cost is your warranty if you do not have a developer edition.
Sent from my A2109A using Tapatalk 4
You can only unlock on VZW and AT&T if you get the developer edition, and the cost is $50 more than the standard device.

So if you just get the regular one, you are stuck with the stock ROM?
Also, is it possible to get the VZW dev edition? I just went through the whole Moto Maker process and didn't see anything about developer edition.

Developer editions aren't eligible for MotoMaker.
The unlock process it free, but as mentioned, it is not currently possible to unlock a non dev Verizon or Att model and the Dev models are not available through Moto Maker. If you're looking at another carrier then VZW or ATT you can unlock from what I read, but since theyre not DEV editions you lose your warranty.

I'm pretty sure they're referring to the SIM carrier lock. Correct me if I'm wrong folks.
I have a Verizon Dev edition with my boot loader unlocked. And I did not have to pay for a unlock key.

[Q] Will restock&relock my Moto X return my warranty back?

Hi guys, just a quick question.
With Nexus devices, if you flash a factory image then you relock the bootloader them return in warranty.
How does it work on Motorola? The same? Or there is a sort of "counter" which shows that the bootloader was previously unlocked (as HTC's "Relocked" voice in bl)? And if yes, is there a way to hide or "reset" it?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad English.

If you have the XT1095 it doesn't matter either way. Locked or unlock will not affect your warranty
It will sat that it was relocked.

As far as my knowledge goes, the XT1092 is the European Pure Edition which means you'll still have warranty after setting everything back to stock. A European law even forces Companies to give you warranty if the issue is hardware related and not caused by your software change.
Hey fellows!
I just got the the Moto X XT1097, its possible to root whitout unlock?
Cheers

That's what a Motorola agent answered to me (It's Italian):
He said that the bootloader unlock voids the warranty, BUT restocking should give me back it. ?

So does US law in many states.
Now a poster on another forum claims it is a federal law, and when I looked up the statute he was referencing I did not see that in the statute. I asked him to clarify but he never did.
I could have missed it when I scanned through the federal statute, but again, I didn't see it in the federal statute. However, as I said, many states have laws that can be invoked if the manufacturer tries to do a blanket warranty void and the issue you are having is not related to whatever you did that the manufacturer says killed your warranty.

Moto X4 Models (NO Bootloader Unlocking)

Motorola X4 Models :
-XT1900-01 USA Carrier Friendly / Project Fi Model
-XT1900-07 Amazon Alexa Model
I spoke to Motorola to find out model numbers and if the 01 Model is Bootloader Unlockable, and unfortunately it is not.
what? then how come is root only tested and working allegedly on xt1900-1? I'm getting so confused haha. I only know mine is xt1900-6.
The bootloader is unlockable on the XT1900-01
I want to get this phone, but I'm afraid of getting the wrong phone for Verizon and getting stuck with a locked bootloader phone.

Yes hope for the best.
From what we've been able to discern from testing is just the opposite of what the CS agent told you. The Amazon version is the one you can't unlock the bootloader (probably because they are afraid you can disable the lock screen ads that way). Nobody's paid Amazon yet to remove them (apparently you can pay the difference between the "with ads" version and the regular retail price if you want Amazon to remove them), so we don't know if that enables bootloader unlock or not.

I'm pretty certain there is no Verizon version of the X4.
AFAIK, in the US there are three versions:
Amazon Prime Ads
Android One
Unlocked for all major carriers

I didn't mean to imply that any version of the X4 would not work on Verizon. My wife has the US Unlocked X4 and we use Verizon.
I mean to say that Verizon does not sell the X4. There is no Verizon branded X4, that I know of.

Follow the instructions on this website (to see if it can be unlocked) - You don't have to actually unlock the device.

Report back here and let us know. I have the XT1900-1 and I unlocked the bootloader.

SM-T707 OS upgrades?

Hi, I'm thinking of buying a SM-T707 on ebay. would I be able to put android 7 on or would I be stuck with 6?
thanks.
T707 what?
The letter is important. It's likely it will be a carrier bootloader locked device and therefore not customisable.

Does the XT1925DL have OEM Unlocking option?

Edit: Meant 1952DL
Found a decently priced XT-1952DL on ebay and I want to custom rom it (if there are any supported roms), but I need bootloader unlocking to do it, and I don't know if it has it. If somebody has the model, can they let me know if it has and option for OEM Unlocking?

Wether the bootloader can be unlocked depends on the software channel.
Some of the channels are listed here.
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/ali/official/
The software channel can usually be found in
Settings/about phone
Or determined by baseband
Settings/about phone/Android version

The software channel is marked non-numeric by the "DL" in XT-1952DL. It's called TRAC.
https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/channel/official/TRAC/
Check wheather your device can be unlocked or not:
What devices are supported by the Bootloader Unlock program?
Official steps to unlock the bootloader (free Motorola account required):
UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER
Carrier exclusive models (ex. Verizon, AT&T, Tracfone) are almost never unlockable.
Bootloader unlock codes are not available for Amazon Branded devices
The Moto g6 XT1925DL does have an OEM unlocking option. I have one on the Straight Talk network and was able to get an OEM unlock code.

Are you sure that you don't messed up the code? You must put it together as one single string as instructed on the homepage. No spaces between.
If you like you can post the output of "get_unlock_data" or send it private. Then I can double check it for you.
