Razer Phone 2 and Total Wireless can't receive SMS due to APN issues - Razer Phone 2 Questions & Answers

TL;DR - Need to reset the APN for Total Wireless instead of Verizon
-
Bought unlocked RP2 from Best Buy and a brand new Total Wireless sim card to go with it. Total Wireless website says phone is compatible. Tons of stuff on XDADevelopers saying Verizon gave certification to phone in Oct. So I buy the phone.
Inbound/Outbound calls work
Inbound/Outbound MMS work
Outbound SMS works
Inbound SMS DOES NOT work
Data DOES NOT work
Used this nifty code to get to hidden network settings
It shows lots of red flags: 0.0.0.0 for DNS, 0 bytes of data, other errors indicating provisioning error.
Spent many hours with Best Buy supervisor troubleshooting, Total Wireless support, and finally Total Wireless Corporate support.
Even replaced the phone with a new one per Total Wireless support suggestions -- same issue.
We now think the issue is the APN name. The APN name is: VZWINTERNET, but the corp agent thinks it needs to be: TRACFONE.VZWENTP
I'm unable to change it.
I tried inserting a GSM card to update the information per some thread I read that worked on an Essentials phone. While that indeed allowed me to make the necessary changes, when I put back in the Total Wireless sim card, the information disappeared.
Phone company is telling me that if I can't change the APN, then the phone won't work on their network.
I don't mind some hackery on the device to solve the issue -- but new job that apparently checks root status of phone before allowing things like SSO login, and since last phone was rooted and was unable to check work stuff... I'd prefer not immediately root the phone in a noticeable way. Although I'm not sure how they checked the root status of my previous phone.
Anyway, I need to change the APN or else return this device. Any solutions?
Thanks

You could always try rooting the phone downloading build.prop editor and then making a change and there that would allow you to make changes to the APN. I remember doing it back in the day.
Edit: found the old Link. Of use this in the past that works quite well.

Ok, going to update with the status:
I was told yesterday by Total Wireless Corporate support that they could escalate this issue to Verizon. The only problem was that the agent had to confirm certain settings were correct before doing so. One of those settings was the APN value. The APN value is listed as VZWINTERNET, but it should be TRACFONE.VZWENTP
Since we couldn't update the APN, she couldn't escalate the issue.
But I spent 2 hours on the chat support with Razer. We finally got a new APN to add into the phone and persist through reboot.
Here were my steps:
Turn off phone
Remove sim
Insert GSM (non-functional AT&T sim)
Open Mobile Networks > APN's
Create new APN
Now, I had an issue here. When I added the new APN and hit save, everything disappeared for me. (the entire entry disappeared from the APN window after hitting save) The workaround was to create a random entry with junk data, then go into each value one at a time, update to the correct info, and safe after modifying each entry. After doing all that, the APN would save to the configuration.

Used this data from a URL I can't post due to reputation
Code:

MCC: 311
MNC: 480
MMS Type: default,dun,supl

Save configuration
Exit all windows
Reopen Mobile Networks > APN to confirm changes remain
Turn off Phone
Remove GSM sim
Re-Insert CDMA sim
Power on phone
Check that the settings remain in Mobile Networks > APN
After making the changes, data now works. But...
Incoming MMS is broken
Incoming SMS is broken

If you have any updates on this situation. I would be very interested. I'm having the same literal issue. I need to add a new APN - TRACFONE.VZWENTP. Currently, it just has VZWINTERNET listed for APN. I'm Unable to add a new APN due to the "Name" field being locked. Page Plus (My mobile provider) and Razer have been absolutely no help.

Did you try the steps I outlined above? You will need a GSM sim card. Best Buy gave me one for free. I have a call scheduled tomorrow with Total Wireless escalations. I'm hopeful I can get them to escalate the issue to Verizon, as I heard Verizon had a way to provision the phones.

Proof or it didn't happen...

Thank you for messaging me back! I'm going to follow the instructions you laid out tonight and see what results I get. How did the tech support call go with Verizon?? Were they able to help prevision your device? I'm still very curious if this is a Verizon issue or a Razer issue.. I've never had these crazy issues implementing the correct APN on a HTC One, Samsung Galaxy or Motorola X4. This is the first Razer manufactured phone I've ever purchased. That being said, I really appreciate the work you've done so far. It's good to know I'm not going crazy dealing this unfortunate situation.

Since they are using VzW network they have to add CDMAless features to your account. This will fix everything

Hey so I know that the original post was in april but I was having the exact same problem with the oneplus 7 pro.
I initially read some of the forums and tried to enable cdma less. (however the total wireless customer service cannot enable it) I called 1-866-663-3633 and after about an hour asked to speak with someone who could enable it.
I was then transferred first to their manager and then the manager gave me a different number to call 1-866-806-1840 but you need a reference number. This man knew who obviously had some knowledge with this problem and enabled cdma less within minutes.
Now the current problem is one month in after the billing cycle reset and i am not receiving texts again. I called and had them enable the setting again and it worked. few hours later and now i am not getting service anywhere. I called again and they have told me they launched an "investigation". long story short total wireless sucks just go with the real verizon.

Nearly 5 months later... I'm getting answers
Sept Update: This problem still exists. Incoming text messaging quits working.
But I think I have some answers....
I've resorted to writing letters. Total Wireless general tech support is horrific, however, if you can get to a Corporate Support agent, they will help.
It's taken 3 letters, and then waiting nearly a month for a reply to each. But when you do get a reply, it's from a Corporate Support representative. After the call today, I have new information to report.
Maybe this will help with the OnePlus 7 problem:

What's the issue
Indeed, this is a provisioning error. Upon my insistence, Total Wireless provided the provisioning information used to associate the phone to the TW network. This includes the CDMAless provisioning code that has been rumored to be necessary.
Code:
[B]Provision Name:[/B]
R20 Tier VZ footprint only
[B]Provision Code:[/B]
Wholesale CDMAless feature
So... Why is this happening?
According to the TW representative that I spoke with, the issue is being caused by a provisioning reset that is occurring each month at the automatic billing cycle. Basically, when the TW service renews, the provisioning is reset on the phone and text message quits working.
I was advised there is no current resolution to the problem, but that they are aware of it and working on it. The rep advised for me to reboot the phone after the billing cycle and once text messaging quits -- you know, as a means to test to see if they've yet corrected the issue

Any update to this? I was thinking about getting TW on my RP2 as well if the issues are solved. Thanks

It took a while, and came with a bit of.. shall we say.. dispute to get it resolved. But I do now believe the problem is fixed within the back-end system. If it happens again, I have the direct number of someone who has the ability to crack the whip and get the problem corrected.

Any chance I could get that number? Total wireless support keeps telling me, even though the rp2 is compatible, that there must be something wrong with my phone.... and now my old note 8 isn't even working on their network, even though it worked fine for 3 years

guide to using your phone in China, especially AT&T Tilt

Niche market thread:
I had been using a Cingular 8525 in China for about half a year, then upgraded to an AT&T Tilt 8925 for about four months and am figuring out some persistent problems so want to share. I would have paid well for all of this info a few months ago. Here goes:
Using local service:
You can get a local sim card for about 30RMB here and will cost allot less to use your US sim when you're over here. You will have to do a sim unlock first. I got my code from AT&T in about two days (surprisingly fast), but you can also buy an unlock from Ebay or might be able to find an unlock on here.
Using Chinese on your phone:
Even if you don't speak Chinese being able to receive Chinese text messages may be very helpful. If your hosts can send you text messages you can show them to cab drivers etc. Adding the trial version of CEStar will let you see the Chinese messages, at least for a the trial period. If you don't want to buy/install CEStar, you can change the ROM to a Chinese version.
Using China mobile GPRS:
I have subscribed to the 50MB/month plan for 20 RMB, otherwise is is .1RMB/kb. You can see a schedule of the different plans here.
Edge is available in many Chinese cities and the slower G network works in some pretty remote areas. China Mobile will instruct you to install a wap and a cmnet connection. Wap works for many applications such as Google earth, but doesn't support www browsing. The cmnet setup was troublesome on my newer Tilt, but not on the older 8125. More on that further down.
To setup China Mobile cmnet access do the following:
Make sure your GPRS settings are set to PAP, not CHAP.
Under Settings>Connections>Manage Existing Internet Settings enter:
Name for Connection: China mobile gprs (or whatever you want)
Select a modem: GPRS, 3G
Next
Access Point name: cmnet
Everything else can be blank for the cmnet connection
Wap settings:
Make a new connection just like above,
enter the access point name: cmwap
again, no user name or password required
Advanced> Use specific IP address: 10.0.0.172
I am not sure if there is really a need to have both a wap and cmnet connection. It seems that if you have cmnet you can use the connection for any purpose.
After you changed these settings be sure to restart your device.
As I said my latest phone is an AT&T Tilt. A couple friends here paid allot more for the HTC branded version from HK and didn't experience this problem. My cmnet wouldn't work. The service here in China is only slightly less clueless than AT&T regarding using your phone in China. I had no problem using wap, but cmnet, for browsing the internet and some other programs would not work over the wap connection. I was finally able to fix this by flashing the HTC rom, though you will have to unlock it (not the same as a sim unlock) before you can load this non-AT&T rom.
Using the non AT&T rom the it auto-configured for the China mobile service, so after hours of trying to fix the connection settings and seeing dozens of Chinese websites give me the same connection settings information, just flashing a new ROM is the key.
Other suggestions:
The Chinese/English dictionary Plecodict works quite well on the phone even if you don't have the Chinese localizer (see CEStar). In its current version the only problem is if you cut/paste in and out of the software allot it will hang. I am told they are working on it. Using this programs writing utility with the dictionary is why I am using the Tilt.
Use the Chinese version of Google maps. It is in Chinese, ofcourse, but at the rate of roads changing and being built here last year's software is missing allot of info. Even if your Chinese isn't good you can cut/paste the address into it to easily find the address.
Remaining questions:
I haven't figured out how to use the built in GPS for anything useful outside of North America. The English version of Google earth has the North America road info and works with the GPS. The Chinese version has great street info but doesn't work with my GPS.
What is the difference between CEstar suite and standard?
I have PLecoDict, can't I see the Chinese characters already?
Personally I like H&H Software's English Chinese Dictionary for quick reference.
It also speaks the Chinese and can display Pin-Yin.
I do wish it accepted Chinese Handwriting input for my Chinese friends to do look-ups in Chinese to translate into English.

Josiah:
You have to SIM-unlock your phone. Call AT&T, tell them you will be using your phone abroad where there is no roaming service (where you plan to be is not their business).
Then you can use any SIM card.
If you bought your phone second hand, search SIM unlock.
Next time, only hit "post" once, please.
thanks. sorry about that i kept getting disconnected. my connection is wierd here in china.
Software
I changed to a AT&T Tilt (HTC 8925) this winter and will post my experience.
I unlocked it before I left the US by calling AT&T. It worked for phone calls, however I tried for a month to get the GPRS service to work with the local carriers (as well as one in Spain) and only was able to make it work for phone calls. GPRS is kind of the point of having a phone like this so it was quite frustrating. Finally I upgraded to one of the ROMs posted on here and it has worked beautifully since. While I still trying to make the AT&T ROM work by adjusting the connection settings I noticed a few strange things that lead me to realize that the built-in AT&T ROM had some built in stops to using it with other carriers. The new ROM (again accolades to xda-developers) so far works in every country I've taken it to (5).
If you can read chinese... pdafan forum is a great place to find chinese roms and get many of your questions answered... , anything related to phone setup and such.

Izmahoby,
What Rom did you use? I am in China and would like to get my AT&T tilt working over here for internet.
I just wanted to say thanks. I only have unlocked the sims on my AT&T tilt. I did not need to reflash the rom. I followed the cmnet settings only and I have full internet. It was really easy to do. I guess I should get on a plan though.

Hi, a bit late replying but only just noticed this thread, kyphur, i agree with H&H - its great, but also get CE-Star and select keyboard 'PenPower' then you can hand write Chinese with stylus straight into H&H (well my g/f can, i am pretty hopeless with it)

making GPRS work
I unlocked my phone but had to actually load the new, non-AT&T rom to get the GPRS connection to work. It's been about 9 months now, but I flashed this version which I downloaded from XDA.
RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_3.03.405.0_radio_sign_25.70.40.02_1.64.06.04
It isn't completely bug free, but the data connection works. A really great thing about this OS is that I can just select the country, then the provider and it automatically configures so when I get off the plain in Australia, Europe, or back in the US the data connection works right away.
this one is for kaiser or touch?? i've HTC elfin.. are you sure i should try this? is this some ROM or some kind of radio update?
ROM update
This ROM update RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_3.03.405.0_radio_sign_25.70.40. 02_1.64.06.04 is intended for the Kaiser 2, or my AT&T Tilt. The AT&T software that came with it was keeping me from using the GPRS data connection from other carriers.

video share on htc fuze

for those of you that dont know video share does not work on the htc fuze it your settings say wap.cingular. att has tried to fix this with no success still waiting on a call back from them. we know that the settings should say ims.cingular butmanually changing it does not work it has to come from htc like that. so it anyone has any suggestion please post. and yes i do have the service from att and it works on other video share phones.
I have had alot of issues with differant devices and VIDEO SHARE, to that i will say this; have them remove the soc code(feature) and then add it back to the account after a soft reset on your device. This has been the process that has corrected mine for many of my devices.
Any relief on this? curious if it is the ROM I am using or if it really isnt working.

strangely my phone sometimes says ims.cingular and I cannot connect and it asks for a password on boot up. Most of the time it is wap.cingular. Weird...
As for videoshare, you have to be on a 3g (H) connection to stream data and talk at the same time. I haven't tried the videoshare, but I will test and see what I get....any other ideas?
Video Share Checklist
I just thought I'd share my experience with getting Video Share to work properly on the FUZE (and on my LG VU) So here it is:
Checklist
3G Service Area: you (and the other party) MUST be in a 3g service area, with at least 2 bars, why 2 bars you ask? well, quality of service mainly, less than 2 bars and your 3G will be very slow, remember you're trying to transmit alot of data with Video share.
A Data Plan: This was a shock, but not really... if you don't want to be charged for every KB of data sent / received in addition to the 35 cents per minute pay per use or whichever plan you have, you must have a good data plan to cover the charges... I don't understand why AT&T feels they must double charge, once for the feature and then for the data to use that feature, MMS Messages do the same... if they charge a high rate for MMS, you shouldnt be charged for the associated DATA, what a rip!
Video Share PPU, Starter, or Premium service (the service itself) -- not much to say but DUH, also the receiver must have this service and an appropriate data plan as mentioned above or you will never see the option on your phone during a call.
IMS APN Feature: (FREE) Although the guy I finally got a hold of to make this all work (who had a thick accent and was hard to understand, but knew what he was doing) told me that video share will work with wap.cingular, there have been reports that it doesn't. When you provision Video share the network automatically changes your APN to ims.cingular, IMS APN feature must be on your account for access or it could give you all sorts of problems form "forbidden" on browsing to rejected emails/mms. If you have a 3G phone this is most likely on your account, it is the new higher speed apn for 3G, maybe that's why the internal customer service code for it is "3GMM" hmm....
Correct settings in your phone: I'm not going to go into those details here, but its obvious, you must have the correct settings.
Correct IMEI: Here's the fun one, I had tried everything above as mentioned in scattered posts throughout the net only to call at&t several times getting frustrated over not getting any results, the final time I called them I ended up talking to some guy in a "special department" related to video share issues. After reviewing all settings on my account he finally figured out the problem (which took him about 2 minutes after getting transfered) the IMEI numbers for my phones were not listed in the system. (blame the dealer I bought the phones from as they are supposed to enter this) there are several places the IMEI's get listed, and I'd think they could easily pluck this information from the network when the phone registers but no, I read him my IMEI information from both lines on my account that video share didn't work for (the FUZE and the VU), he had us remove the batteries as he sent the updates across the network, and BAM the very next call between the phones and video share works like a champ. What this boiled down to is the network didn't know what type of phone I had and what features to turn on and what to do to make the phones talk to each other in a compatible form. I'd think this would cause all sorts of other issues with the network too, not just for video share.
A final note on this: if you change phones, make sure you call and have the IMEI information updated, if I change my FUZE for another FUZE it would probably work, but if I swap the device out for a different model it would not necessarily pick the most compatible features for my phone...
Privisioned Dates: When you go to your online account management and add features, it says they are immediately effective, sometimes this is true, but in the case of my account it likes to post-date to the next bill cycle. This is especially true when you visit an AT&T store, it will definitely post-date there. I had 3 IMS APN features and Video Share features on my account, all with different dates, this is because, I tried to add and 2 people at the store tried to add, to make sure Video Share and IMS are on your account and active / effective TODAY you have no choice but to call customer service and tell them you want them on your account effective immediately. While it will appear on your account management that you have it, don't trust it as it only checks for the feature, not the active dates.
And finally the internet connection: Some people have noted that your connection must be active before the call, this is not true although it is very helpful. The video share negotiation takes place over the phone control channel, when it is determined that you both have the service and compatible phones it will send a message to both phones. They will then try to turn on their data connections and verify with the server whether or not the option should be turned on. If your data is active before the call your video share button will be available instantly as it is for me. If it is NOT then it will take ~20 seconds or more to connect to the net and contact the server to verify, then turn on the option for you. Just make sure your internet works in general and that you can connect and you should have no problems during a normal call.
I hope this helps at least some of the people out there having this issue, and maybe some others having other issues with the network. Sorry for the long post
vs is ok now
OK this is a miracle finally got my HTC fuze to do video share. When I started this thread I was so mad at ATT and htc. Well here is the deal I had tried just about every avenue to get this to work and after reading whitehawk82 post, one of his points stood out.
FIRST make sure you have the latest sim card from ATT and IMS APN Feature is activated, now be aware that ATT needs to reset your entire data service so the ims.cingular can kick in on the ATT fuze. To make sure this is working when you turn on your fuze it will automatically connect to ims.cingular as with all video share phones.
SECOND now that you are connected you would think it would work, well not quite that easy. Now you need to re-install original ATT fuze rom and finally when you go to contacts live video share call will no longer be grayed out. Put back all your info manually for best results sprite restore may put back some incorrect settings.

And this is why Video Share will NEVER take off. It's too ****ing complicated to get working on 2 devices, and it is completely USELESS. Seriously... I talk to people online and we both have webcams, but we don't get on cam just to talk. We just talk. Video is such an unnecessary part of every day communication.

Nexus 6 APN

Okay so i have Nexus 6 on Vzw and its good i think...
...but i wanted to check the APN settings, so far
i have no idea where the APN settings are.
It's not under Cellular Networks and there
is no Mobile Networks, so i was wondering
if its hidden on the nexus 6.
I bought the phone through Motorolas' website
if that means anything.
(activating the phone was a hassel because my
previous phone was a HTC one m7 and it had a
micro sim, and the vzw rep helped me out by
grabbing a Iphone 6 imei to activate the nano sim
and it worked.)
i wanna check this cuz it seems like the signal
isn't as good as it should be...
Anyone's thoughts on the APN Settings?
in the main settings press more, press cellular networks, press access point names(apn)..
It's not there.

Same here. No APN on mine either.
My Nexus 6 doesn't function that well on Verizon. AT&T was better.
I remember APN settings being on my Nexus 6 prior to inserting my Verizon sim. However, when I put in my Verizon sim, that option was gone. But I should also add, I only noticed the APN settings on a completely stock phone, and only inserted my sim after I unlocked, rooted, etc.

No, as of right now mine has
Data Roaming
Preferred Network type: LTE (recommended)
(i tried the Global setting too...)
System Select
Change the CDMA Roaming mode (Auto or Home only)
The Verizon sim card sets the APN's. You don't get the option to edit them on CDMA devices.

On the stock rom? It's possible they left it open but they rarely if ever do. There's really no need for it.

Well that may be true in this case here but not true for my other Sprint and Verizon devices. We had the option to add/edit apns.
Maybe it also depends on the ROM.

Expect no help from Verizon if you have the phone active on your account when you contact them for anything. Otherwise, nope it works as it should.

Don't know if this is still an issue, but you can edit your APN with Verizon. It's not in settings, as it is with other carriers. Not sure if it's worth, but just FYI:
Hangouts > Settings > SMS > (Scroll down to ADVANCED) Access point names
Under the option you'll see this message:
"Configure your APN if you have having trouble sending or receiving MMS"
Mine is set to "Verizon Internet" VZWINTERNET, which is also listed about five times. Why? I have no idea.

Im actually a problem with this, not finding them anymore (thank you above poster) but actually getting the correct ones in or running....im not on any major carrier im on Bluegrasss Cellular its runs off Verizon towers though. I have been using a 2013 Moto X and have been getting a message saying cannot find APNs on it since i installed Lollipop though the messages are pointless because i havent had any phone/text/intetnet issues until i just moved my Sim card from the Moto X to my new Nexus (New Nexus!!!! :silly: ). When I moved the sim card to my Nexus 6 I tried sending a text and got a new message stating something along the lines of sim card error bluegrass cellular -1 . I immediately turned off my wifi and attempted to make a call and connect to the internet and everything on those ends are fine its just the text messaging....anyone has any suggestions? Sorry if i got off topic lol i looked on hangouts/advanced/apns and it looks like they are all there i know i saw at least 10 different options I will compare to my Moto X's list once apps are done restoring. Also I have not take the OTA 5.0.1 update yet. Thanks!

Did you ever find a solution? I am experiencing the exact same problem.
I recently started having issues sending group texts (as MMS) from Google Messenger on my Nexus 6 (Stock 5.1.1 build LYZ28E, rooted, T-Mobile). As a solution to this, I was instructed to remove any extra or extraneous APNs that could be confusing Messenger. However there is no option for Access Point Names or APN settings anywhere on the phone. I have rebooted and also removed and reinstalled my T-Mobile SIM card but still nothing. Here is a screenshot of what I see when I navigate to Settings > Wireless & Networks > More > Cellular Networks...
Has anyone found out what is going on here??

Solved: Verizon Galaxy Note 8 APN Settings nightmare for Straight Talk Users- FYI

Just want to share this info with you guys and to save you time:
I got my Brand new Galaxy Note 8 last night and when I inserted my Straight Talk Simcard I only can text and make/receive phone calls. The mobile Data won't work at all and it won't allow me to edit the APN settings. APN setting was totally grayed out and you cannot "ADD", "Reset to defaults", and or edit the current APN. It keeps saying "Unable to view access point name. Access is restricted to current user profile" I tried to use different Sim cards to check if the default Verizon APN settings return to default but no luck either. My last option was just reset the phone to "Factory Settings".......No luck either! First strike!
Contacted Samsung about it and a tech did a remote section (he didn't know wth was APN settings) and couldn't figure it out of why my APN settings were gone. His Answer was "You need to contact your service provider for that issue". Failed! Second Strike!
I contacted Straight Talk about the incident and no solution yet, the lady that "help me" earlier have no clue about it and her answers weren't professional as she keeps telling me "Ohh your old Sim card won't work on your new NOTE 8 because is coming from an old phone (Galaxy S8 Plus), and you need to buy a brand new Sim Card Kit to have the MOBILE DATA working again."[/COLOR] I laughed on my inside and took a deep breath and told her "Sweety I don't need to buy a new Sim Card kit to have my MOBILE DATA back, I been a SAMSUNG/STRAIGHT TALK customer for many years and I swap phones the whole year (GEEK). Also, I always use the same APN settings in every SAMSUNG phone that I owned before without buying a new Sim Card. Buying a brand new Sim Card won't fix the grayed out APN Settings on the phone!!!"
STRIKEOUT
I FIX IT MYSELF AND ALSO THANKS TO XDA DEVELOPERS! Walk Off Hit!
The Solution for this issue is to reset your Phone back to Factory settings using the ODIN method and of course using the VERIZON stock firmware version N950USQU1AQH7
Here's the link to the stock VERIZON firmware:
If you do everything the right way, the APN settings will go back to normal.
GOOD LUCK!

i tried flashing everything using Globe's stock firmware from sammobile but no luck.

flashed BL AP CP and CSC (home csc) all at the same time.
saw somewhere i should flash home csc first then flash the rest after. is this what you did?
i see from the sammobile site a couple other firmwares from the philippines
Philippines (Open Line) (XTC)
Philippines (Smart) (SMA)
should i flash using the Open Line one?
thanks in advance!
UPDATE:
Flashed with XTC Open LIne. no good still no data.
Still waiting for help on this one. thanks
Same scenario
Have you found a fix to this problem sir?
I just unlocked my note 8 via third party as well. This unit is a globe one. I tested it on a smart sim but apn cannot be edited.
I am worried that I cannot use this phone when i go to another country. Hence, I need to find a solution asap.

Enter the bootloadter by turning off your phone then hold the Bixby button, volume up and power.
You'll see a blue screen woth some graphics, give it some time to get to the all text bootloader screen.
Use the volume down button to go to "wipe cache partition", press power to select.
Once complete, press power again to reboot system (reboot your phone).
Just want to know what 3rd party unlocking company did you use to unlock your nite 8 from globe? Tried 3 already online and no codes. Thanks for the reply.

But press "Save APN by AT COMMAND Enable" and then "Lte Apn Settings"

Nexus 6, T-Mobile and MMS problem

This has been a frustrating issue. My wife and I both have Nexus 6 phones. She has the 32gb & I have the 64gb version. Hers recently started not receiving MMS messages. Anything with a large picture would simply never show up. Anything with a very small graphic or group text would show up as "Non-text content". Here are the steps we've taken to solve this:
1. TMO started by insisting it was an APN issue. So she edited her APN. Didn't help.
2. We then swapped SIMs. Hmmmm. My phone then behaved like hers while hers could then send/receive MMS.
3. TMO said ok maybe it's the SIM. They sent us a new one. SAME result. Her phone wouldn't receive MMS.
4. Out of frustration, I factory reset her phone and reset the APN info. Didn't help. (Cleaned up her phone of some trash programs though. :laugh
5. TMO engineering says they still can't find anything on their end. Elevate to tech supervisor. She tells us to go a TMO store (right near us) to try a THIRD SIM. OK, we do. SAME RESULT. We tried swapping SIMs around again and the same thing happens. My SIM in her phone, everything works. Her SIM in mine, I can't receive MMS.
6. TMO store guy suggests MAYBE (but unlikely) that there is something her account has that's stored on the SIM when its activated that causes the phone to freak. Also says it's above his pay grade .
So now we are again waiting on TMO to poke around further on their end. My question for all you smart types here is:
Has anyone ever heard of this issue? Is there anything you know of that could be causing it? I think it's a bad provisioning somewhere in the dark recesses of TMO. The ONLY change we made to our plans (which seems just coincidental) is that we moved from the 2 lines Unlimited for $100 plan to the over-55 Unlimited plan. We did this maybe 3 weeks ago. But the features are all the same on both plans.
We are both on the same Android 7.0 final OTA firmware updates from Google. NBD92G
Would there be ANY chance that a sideload firmware update would make any difference? We're getting desperate here. Any & all suggestions welcome.
I wonder if her SIM is configured for wifi calling. There has been a conflict between wifi calling and mms for awhile. I've seen it reported several times where this T-Mobile forum post helps in that case
Don't use old firmware... I had issues on certain custom ROMs and old firmware where MMS wouldn't work over WiFi. Never as bad as you were getting.
If you wanna stay stock, sideload the latest OTA to go to NGI55D. Anything older than that is vulnerable to Blueborne exploit, which is a HUGE security concern IMO. I can confirm MMS is working correctly (even with WiFi enabled) on bone stock NGI55D as well as custom ROM Dirty Unicorns v11.7.1 which includes September security patch.

I've had this issue on most LOS roms. i ended up making a custom APN i flash when i try a rom built on LOS.
Yeah, it sure sounds like a problem with account partitioning, or something else with the account that gets associated with the SIM on initial use. What if you try the problem SIM in a phone that is not a Nexus 6? I wonder if you could get a new sim and set it up in a different phone, then transfer it to the problem phone?
OK all, finally got a TMO engineer who agreed with my assessment -- that it was a hidden provisioning problem. She nuked my wife's line and recreated it from scratch. Everything works great now. Frustrating that we had to go through about 15 phone calls and over 3 hours of phone time to get it resolved.
