S10 rattling inside - Samsung Galaxy S10 Questions & Answers

I was shaking my s10 a small bit and noticed a slight rattling as if a screw was loose inside. Anyone else experience it? Could it be the ois on the camera?

I can't hear or feel anything when shaking mine.

I've had that rattling for years on multiple phones. It's normal now a days.

Well OK, as long as I know it's normal, then I'm good.

Now I'll have to start a new thread for my phone "S10 not rattling inside" ?

for me, it rattles when it's not in use.. WTF did Samsung do? I thought this was nothing when I first noticed it on Thursday, but now it's annoying the hell outta me!

Yeah. I played with the S5 at Best Buy today and confirmed it wasn't just mine. The S5's camera is much more audible than the S4, Note 3's cameras. Very annoying.
It has image stabilization, that causes it to rattle. My nexus 5 is the same way.

so do you think this is something Samsung will address? Repair? etc? Or will we have to live with this? I never saw this issue on my S4.

You didn't notice it your S4 because it didn't do it. It's a byproduct of image stabilization, which the S4 didn't do, but the S5 does.
It's not a defect, there is nothing to fix, it's just how it is.

that's a shame.. because it makes it seem like some cheap plastic parts moving inside if somebody notices. Bad manufacturing process by Samsung IMO. and image stabilization? As far as I know there is no physical optical image stabilization on the S5, it just has the software stabilization. The odd thing is that the rattle happens only when the camera is not in use. When I open the Camera app, the rattling is gone.
I don't kmow, I just assumed it was ois like everyone else does it. If not, then I'm not sure where the rattle is coming from. My nexus 5 makes a lot more noise when shaken than the S5 does.

I have a rattle, but I have to shake my phone like the bejeezus in order to hear anything and even then it's faint. I have to put my phone up to my ear to hear it.
Have not noticed this yet. Ha Ha now when shaking it slightly I do hear a little rattle. These types of things usually bother me, but if it has a purpose I don't think it will.
It's in my pocket most times staying very quiet lol.
I didn't even notice until I read this post. My phone is in an Otter box defender case, so its mostly quiet.

Can you hear the rattle in the camera when you tap the front of the phone(specifically near the top)?
I had to shake the crap out of it right next to my ear to hear it. I do not hear it just with normal use of the phone though. I try not to shake my phone that much

My wife has a 1500.00 Digital SLR with image stabalization, guess what same rattle, that's how it work, nothing for Sammy to address.
This seems to be going around/asked even on other forums with people thinking their phone is broken or something wrong. Nothing is wrong, it's b/c of image stabilization, even high end cameras have a similar rattle.
I just assumed it was a pedometer. The s health app can track your steps

yes the S5 has image stabilization and considering i can turn my wifes dslr off and make it exhibit the exact same behavior as the S5 im going to have to go with thats how it works.

No... the rattle is the lens elements not image stabilization it doesn't have it it has software IS which wouldn't warrant camera rattle. It's the 6 lens elements that make the noise and it should be loud like some people are saying. Mines is loud to the point of the vibrate making a terrible noise. My other s5 doesn't do this thus it being a defect of sorts. I am a photographer and also have a dslr with a lens that has IS so I know as well...

all i know is that both devices make the same distinct "Rattle" when powered off and since my wife is the photographer not me i tend to go with what she tells me.

Slight rattle

Is anyone else experiencing a slight rattle when you sit the phone down or tap it? Not sure if it's the vibrating motor or something?

That actually makes me feel more at ease. So it's not likely defective but more likely just a larger vibrator motor or something. Which, makes sense because the vibrating on this thing is strong.

It's funny that shaking it does not create the sound. Only laying it down on something hard.

Yes exactly. Or if you tap on the back.
I feel it rattling when it vibrates which makes it feel a bit cheap but haven't noticed that tapping out would make rattle as well which it does.
Could you please confirm that it rattles a bit when it vibrates on your device as well?

It doesn't seem to do that for me. But vibration does seem overly strong like on cheaper phones at times.

Ex kernel manager or other kernel tools let you adjust vibration intensity.
Ok actually all percentage values feel the same so probably some driver restrictions

Same with my A2. I located it at the camera or somewhere near. It is definitely not the vibration motor itself.

It doesn't have ois. Edit: too slow
Oh ok, just EIS. Well who knows what it could be. Can't be a defective unit if it's the same for all of us.
With my device happens the same, and the rattle is quite loud, it even makes some vibration during calls with high volume. Everyone can confirm this? Im curious to know if it is a defect or all A2 are like that.
Can confirm it happens for me also
Same problem here. I am assuming that volume buttons are producing that rattle noise. If you take your phone in the hand and shake nothing happens, but when you tap just under camera lenses you can hear the rattle , volume buttons are only near and not fixed, so...
Hello,
I think the vibrations are the cameras, like in the A1.
I remember that in the A1 forum there is a similar post.
Sorry for my English, regards!
Not the buttons. Most likely optics in the camera that are movable for autofocus. Most cameras now seem to have this
I faced the same "problem". Same rattling like on the mi 4c.
Its the camera auto focus.
Same here.

Slight Rattling sound

While keeping my phone on a hard surface like a table or tap the rear top of the phone there is a slight Rattling noise. I was wondering if this was normal, or is it my product only. If it is normal , is it related to the pop up camera or the rear cameras? Phone is working fine otherwise
No, it is not normal. Phone should feel sturdy.

Anyone else experiencing this?
Yes, Recently I've also heard some rattling noise when I tapped the back of K20 Pro on my palm. Kind of weird. Might be coming off from camera sensor as other's are saying.
It's the camera sensor rocking when the phone gets placed on a first surface. It should be the same for all.

Speaker Issue

Is anyone else having an issue with no sound coming from the bottom left speaker? I tried a sound test on Youtube and the top and bottom right speakers work. When something that should be playing out of the left, it just plays through the other two speakers. I also went into accessibility settings and set audio to play only from the left and it still only plays out the right and top speakers.
Try an audio track where you know where a particular sound should be.. left or right speaker...
Not a you tube track tho..

There is only one speaker on the bottom.
The other hole is a mic.

I was hoping for a reply like this and not that the device was faulty. Thank you for the quick answer. I'm coming from the Note 8 so I'm use to the design of the speaker/mic being different. Thanks again :good:

Sad to hear this, as initially it was reported that both of those would be speakers. Kind of disappointed, now.

I saw plenty of speculation that it might be, but nothing with any proof.

yeah, no proof. I believe it was just initials speculation, since you don't need that many holes just for a microphone.

On the other hand those make it look very symmetric on the bottom.

Question It's a bit loose

I have a problem
I cleaned my Mi 11 and I noticed when I shook it easily, I heard noise inside.
If the camera was loose or the speaker.
This can not be normal, right?
Can someone easily shake his cell phone if you hear from inside noises?
The phone is 5 months old and I never fell down.
Thanks
It's the OIS.
The camera has some mobile parts so the OIS can work properly.

Can anyone confirm?
I wanted to sell it and was afraid that something was broken.
I confirm the same for mine comes from the photo sensor so normal
Thank you very much! I found the same answers in Mi Forum.
Thanks
