No Baseband flashing official Android 9 Rom - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Hello
I live in Paris and I bought a NOTE 9 Dual Sim SM-N960F (exynos) on FNAC (french famous store) market place.
The device arrived from Honk KONG with OREO 8.1
Country CSC is XEU
Product code
SM-N960FZKAXEU
and CSC CP AP Versions are the same deployed in Pakistan (PAK):
CP N960FXXU2ARL2
CSC N960FOXM2ARK2
AP N960FXXS2ARL4
The device was perfectly working but no Android 9 Pie available on OTA.
So I flashed it with ODIN official ROM Android 9 PIE OXM versions France XEF, Europe XEU and even Pakistan PAK .
In all the 3 tentatives Pie and One ui was ok but the BaseBand no longer worked. The SIMs IMEI and the baseband were not present.
I had to go back to the original version 8.1 PAK and everything is working again.
How to upgrade it correctly without rooting it if possible?
Thank you for your answers.

Try wiping the cache partition and run the OTA download via the settings menu

Or updatemanually via smart switch

I wiped the cache partition but still no new version found on OTA in settin

THank you. But even after Wipe cash on OTA in settings menu no Pie version is found. Still say that last upgrade are installed in dec. 1 2018 (ie 8.1 Oreo)

Smart Switch does'nt find Pie upgrade

Thank you BUT When I link smart switch I've exactly the same message that in settings menu the system is already upgraded

In that case download Kies from Samsung's website onto your computer and connect your device to your computer. Then use Kies to update your OS

Probably this not depends from the app you use.

Thank you I will try by I'm quite sure that this doesn't depend from the application used to upgrade (OTA or Smart Switch or Kies). Seems that there is not a valid Pie version for my device ; and when I reset to factory and flashed the Pie versions in all cases the baseband was not working. But I don't know why.

In french as you suggest:
STEP 1
version Odin3-v3.13.3
N960FXXS2CSC1
XEF Date du build 2019-03-04
CSC_OMC_OXM_N960FOXM2CSA7_CL15193909_QB21675069_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
CP_N960FXXU2CRLT_CP11538160_CL15091941_QB21292166_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
BL_N960FXXS2CSC1_CL15193909_QB22378085_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5
AP_N960FXXS2CSC1_CL15193909_QB22378085_REV00_user_low_ship_meta_OS9.tar.md5
A la fin PIE et ONE UI ok mais pas de Baseband et IMEI sim
Idem avec la version multi csc XEU
STEP 2
fap lock: on
oem lock: on
Merci beaucoup.
Bien cordialement

why I've to use BTU when for my device the original firmware is XEU and the today is XEF and I'm in France?

btu is unbranded UK firmware. hoping that will work.
once you successfully back on PIE, in odin just flash home_csc.md5 no need the other files.

nothing to loose by trying.
2 things might be happening:
either an issue with efs for some reason or your modem(CP) isn't getting flashed properly.
try to flash cp.md5 from last working firmware
has your phone ever been rooted? in dl mode, what is status of knox ?x?
also is frp at off?
you are flashing all 4 md5 files right?
so flash BTU:
BL
AP
CP
CSC
and post odin log after it finishes flashing

Hi
The phone has never been rooted, checked in DL, and I put locks off . I've flashed the 4 files many times (now I've do the same with Xeu and BTU a ) no problem or error in flashing.
ON other side I guess that in adapting in a bad way for European market a device with 8.1 versions for Pakistan the vendor has "freezed" the possibility to change country SIM EMEI in updating.
I have seen this problem description somewhere and diagnostic is " go to Samsung center", but I don't know any detail.
Unfortunately I have to travel out of France tomorrow so I prefer now to stay with a stable version 8.1 where modem works correctly.
When I will be back I will ask to a Samsung center to fix. The device is under warranty I have a french invoice (FNAC).
THank you so much for your assistance.
Best
Giorgio

SM-N9500 in France

Hello, I'm french and I live in France. I've received my Note 8 but it's a N9500 model with a Hong Kong product code TGY and in France we normally use an XEF product code. The box was closed when I received it so that mean that the retailer couldn't have made some change inside. My questions are about the ROM update. Do you think that I will receive the Samsung update in OTA even in France ? If not, could I make the update with the SamMobile ROM ? If yes, could I be sure to get the Play Store ? Today it's already install in my phone but I've read that the Google Play Store is not allow in China ?
And my last question, is it possible to change the CSC TGY by an XEF one ?
thanks a lot by advance for all your answers.
Regards from France

You will receive the OTA, even if Google Play it's not pre-installed, you can side load it and finally, yes, you can change the CSC !

I am not sure, I did not try it myself.
You can take a look here, it's a S8 forum but it can help: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/help/changing-csc-root-t3607242
If this doesn't work, rooting and flashing a multi CSC ROM should do the trick. I don't know if there are any for your model, take a look :https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/development
It seems that in your case rooting may be tricky but still possible :https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/help/note-8-n9500-root-tarp-t3694044
Anyone more knowledgeable, please jump in !

Hello and thanks for your answer. But I have read on french forum that it's impossible to have an XEF Rom on a SM-N9500 anyway. For the moment I got the Samsung update in time (I have an Hong Kong rom) and no network problem. The only things I have not it's Samsung pay, volte call and the possibility to use S pen with my keyboard
Hi!
I have also SM-N9500 csc is TGY(HONGKONG)
you can check here
http://www.phonemore.com/compare/pho...-n9500/6303040
it is only Rom problem,
normaly SM-N9500 much more capable from SM-N950FD,
but i think china don't give a permissions for video calling,
and our SM-N9500 has a software barrier for this.
Are there any people will solve this problem?

If XEF is Exynos then You won't be able to flash it on Your Note8 as it has Snapdragon inside. You can probably install Play Store with "Google Installer" made for Xiaomi phones. But running European rom on it will be simply impossible because of the processor. I think You should return it and get a International model. SD835 is slower than Exynos 8895 so You won't lose anything and You will get ability to flash custom roms and have TWRP, xposed etc.

No it's not possible. But I don't have any update problem
if your goal is to utilize some CSC feature from XEF, then I would like to suggest you to download firmware and extract cache.img to get csc folder then flash it or copy it using root explorer with supersu or magisk supersu permission. But your phone will trip knox and you will not be able to use samsung pay or some bank app.

Fix Front flash for G610M (Magisk Module i test it in Stock G610m 8.1)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YYG...ew?usp=sharing
The kernel version is prerelease (gcc version 4.9.x 20150123). Hardly Samsung would do the ROM on the prerelease software. Maybe this is a test ROM aired via OTA by mistake?

S10 G9730 Questions

Hi,
I just bought this model and i'd like to know which firmware is better.
Currently it have installed the one in the picture marked in red
Should you recommend to install the other one above?
or even better the china version?

hello k44mos, you find your firmware here https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s10/firmware/SM-G9730/TGY/ since your S10 G973O is equipped with an Asian motherboard so not European

Just have your official firmware on your pc G973O you modify your AP with magisk and you flash with odin.

Question RMX3311 GDPR version downgrade A13 to A12

Hello.
I own an european realme gt2. Current software version: RMX3311_11.C.08_1080_202301111307.
I have been trying to downgrade to the last version of android 12 ( RMX3311_11.A.22_0220_202211010914 ) and I can't seem to make it work.
I downloaded the OTA package ( RMX3311_11.A.22_0220_202211010914 ) using realme ota tool and tried to install it using local install from the update menu on the phone -> I am getting a verification failed error.
Is there any method to downgrade to android 12?
Version C.08 is Android 13 and A.22 is Android 12 therefore authentication failed.
Rollback i found only for india RMX3312.

That's the reason I didn't update to Android 13 yet. That update notification is there for nearly one month and I'll let it stay there until a rollback package is available for rmx3311. Until now you cannot downgrade the European model to Android 12 since there is no rollback package. Only for rmx3312 Indian model it is available.
Why would you want to downgrade? A13 is working fine no issues for me.
Do a hard reset after update otherwise you might have some problems especially with battery standby.

This is the reason, battery life is bad compared with A12. I will try to do a hard reset.

Have you already tried to do a hard reset? Was it somehow useful? Just asking because I'm experiencing same issue with battery drain after the latest update to C.08.

Incredible ! realme so bad !
I've recently bought a GT2, probably from a really old stock, which is on RMX3311_11.A.22 (this is already updated by me) and I might've been scammed, since the phone had fingerprints out of the sealed box, idk.
I've ran the OTA tool: realme-ota RMX3311EEA RMX3311_11.A.22_0220_202211010914 3 -r 3 -o
But it only returns a json for the next update, RMX3311_11.C.06_1060_202212011207. And the A12 update zip got deleted during installation, so... Is there another way to dump mine?
(Also thanks to the devs that they created a whole pip package and an installer, which couldn't detect or install python, so I had to bootup a VM just for the tool, because I was too lazy to patch the installer script or install manually. So I'm planning to rewrite it in dotnet to make it usable.)

J'ai exécuté l'outil OTA : realme-ota RMX3311EEA RMX3311_11.A.22_0220_202211010914 3 -r 3 -o

In the attempt of changing from rmx3311 to rmx3312, I used the oneplus updater app for Android 13 on my rmx3311 running still android 12 and surprise: it installed the rollback package ment for the Indian version.
So I changed my European rmx3311 to the Indian rmx3312 variant by using only the oneplus local updater app.
Now, I believe that by cross-installing a different region OTA rollback package my device lost IMEI and Baseband because it doesn't recognize anymore my SIM card.
I wanted to change to rmx3312 because the indiant variant have the possibility to unlock the bootloader.
Is there any chance I can recover my IMEI and Baseband?
Also try to install Full OTA RMX3311

That would be my first option.
But I would like to manage to preserve the Indian variant since it is the only one with the unlockable bootloader.
Also, I never had believed that it is possible to change region so easy. And having locked bootloader.
It has already been tried and the result was as you wrote. Reverting to the original version helped. For GT 2 Pro, the device model is the same (RMX3301). GT 2 changes the version of RMX3311 to RMX3312.

Then maybe I can unlock the bootloader on this variant (RMX3312) and after that I'll install the RMX3311 package. Maybe the bootloader will stay unlocked?!?
Changing the region via Full OTA will certainly not overwrite all partitions. Manifest:Image will be 1b:44 where 1b stands for India and 44 stands for Europe.
In such a situation, a little is enough and the brick is born.

Thanks. So better to take no risk since there is not a free unbrick tool for these devices. And the bootloader cannot be unlocked even in the RMX3312 since i don't have a valid IMEI number.
So, to revert back to RMX3311 i must repeat the process using the Oneplus updater application? And what firmware should i install?
Right now i am on Android 13 for the RMX3312 since i have done the regular OTA update hopping it will solve something about the IMEI.
