Not related to night mode/blue light filter/google book night mode etc, all tested on/off and no use. and recent month it become even worse, when the phone become hot it will also become dim and yellow. any solutions?

You need a new screen unfortunately. That's not going to go away it's going to get worse.

I agree! Sounds like the display has developed an issue.

well, it seems so, have to replace the display. but the display actually can show the colors well -- when it's cool, and when you press button to activate the screen after the screen had been off for at least 5 seconds.
if there can be a software solution, disable the dim color mask when the phone is hot, then I can save the money for replace the screen...

[Q] New screen issue (floating grey point)

I have noticed another HORRIBLE crap with my screen - I can see how white|gray color suddenly changes a bit to green.... and back again to gray|white. Seems like a controller keeps changing white balance or gray point cyclically. It is mostly seen when you pull down notification panel and look at it for a minute. The pattern of tint change from green to gray goes like for a 5 seconds each 5-10 seconds. And it is noticeable. Especially when you read the web page that is evenly lit with the light color. It distracts a lot from reading... Like your eyes suddenly find an obstacle and jump over it and all because of slight change in gray point tint.
Does anybody see the same gray|white point floating?
Settings -> Display -> Auto adjust screen power
Turn that off and you will be fine ...

I would be happy if it were so simple... I tried everything before posting here (auto adjust, auto brightness, different levels of brightness) - the problem persists.

Green vertical line when switching off the display

Hello everybody, I have the following "visual effect". It happens roughly 50% of the times the display switches off. It doesn't matter if it is by it self, by the power button or by a software button. In the very moment when the display switches off, a greenish dot in the center of the display flicks for a split second, along with a same color vertical line trough the whole screen. Obviously it is not supposed to be this way Beside this issue, there is no other problems with the display or the phone( for now). What do you think about this? Thanks in advance
Sounds like a screen off CRT effect, check you tube to see if that is your problem
Isn't the CRT effect a horizontal white line ending up in a dot?
I genuinely think the OP's screen may be defective...

do a lcd test and check if all pixels are working ok
Unfortunately it is not a CRT effect, although it looks a bit like it. The difference is, that the line and the dot( little spot) appear simultaneously for a fraction of a second. In a daylight it is hard to see it, even more it happens just 50% of the times, but not every other time. Its somewhat random.
The *#0*# test do not show much. No dead pixels. On blue you cant see anything, on green and red I think I see a little bit darker spot in the center of the screen( where the dot/spot appears), but there are such darker sports and elsewhere on the screen.
BTW, I noticed recently, that when the screens dims a bit shortly before switching off, this dimming happens not so smooth. How should I say it... it happens on a several steps, although the whole thing is done in less then a second, it is not so fluid. Is it supposed to be this way?
Thanks for your help guys
have u tried flashing a different rom stock
I am on the latest German stock 4.0.4, tried several others, including 2.3.6. .Currently with Hydra kernel. No difference whatsoever. I think the auto-brightness doesnt work so good. When set on fixed value it dims more fluidly.
if u on stock rom and not rooted then take it to a service center

If your display is set to Adaptive Mode, your screen will change the screen tone (including white) based on your surroundings, just like the True Tone feature on the iPhone X.

Well, I have A6 plus, but I don't have experienced like what you wrote. I can only making it manual in Adaptive Mode. Do I need switch on/off something to work it automatically?

Well, the screen tone changing is barely noticeable unless you compare when you go from one place to another. I have my screen mode on Adaptive Mode and the full screen color balance is on the middle.
Thank you. Also what I don't understand, if I'm using other screen mode like Adaptive, and when I switch on the Blue light filter, it switches back to Adaptive mode with that tiring vivid colour. Why it's just don't apply the Blue light filter in the applied Screen mode? Meh...

Led Indicator color issue

I received Note 9(VZW) directly from Samsung 3 days ago. I traded in Note 8 and received $500 credit. It is my first purchase from Samsung.
Everything works fine except the LED Indicator. I don't see any problem with Red, Green and Blue colors. I noticed the color of KakaoTalk notification LED is not solid yellow as it should. It looks like light green(half yellow and half green). If I let it blink for a while, it sometimes changes to Yellow and goes back to light green. I installed "Light Manager" and tested all available colors. I see a problem with Yellow, Orange and White. Yellow looks like light Green, Orange looks like Yellow and While looks like light Cyan. If I them blink for a wile, the correct color of Yellow and Orange sometimes light up. However, White remains in light Cyan.
I think my Note 9 is defective. Has anyone exchanged a defective phone from Samsung? What process do I need to go through? Do they send you a new phone 1st like VZW does?
Thanks.
Couldn't even get light manager to work on my device. It said that screen must be off to test the led colors. If screen is off how the hell do I press the on screen test color button [emoji23]

That's because you have to turn screen off once you press test mode or W.e it's called, wait a few seconds and notification light will start to flash.
I use LED Blinker Pro and it works perfectly ?

Yep orange and yellow look about the same on mine too. Meaning when I pick orange it's yellow and orange and when I pick yellow it's orange and yellow also. You best exchange yours, not acceptable for $1000+ device [emoji23] [emoji1787]
PS. I remember all my previous notes were similar. Good luck.

I am having this same issue too when I use light flow. I need to know if it's a defect or if it's something the app is doing. Doesn't seem as though that many ppl are having the issue or even notice? The phone is fine otherwise. Can anyone else verify if this is happening? Anyone with two devices?
I have the identical problem as the original poster, with exactly the same colour issues.
The bizarre thing is, this has only just started to occur. The colours were pretty well defined before, other than the white which was always a little cyan looking.
Last night I was expecting a yellow LED from a notification and I got green.
I then tried all colour options in Light Manager and it seemed I only got red/green/blue despite what I selected. Same with defining custom colours in Whatsapp.
I experimented and set the LED to BRIGHT in Light Manager. Was previously on Normal. This improved things massively. All of this was done in evening time indoors with not much light.
Today I re-set the LED to NORMAL in light manager, and the colours were fine. Also the Whatsapp colours were now ok too. This confused me, but I read on Light Manager forum that this phone has an ambient LED sensor so I am wondering if that is what is affecting the colours. I will try again tonight in the dark and see if they have reverted back to R/G/B again.
So my solution at the moment is to set the LED to BRIGHT in the Light Manager settings.
Not ideal really as on my S7 previously the LED was faultless.
I had an note 2, note 8 and now note 9 and they all have the same issue with some colour blending with that LED.
It must had some multiple fixed colour LEDs around the hole and the green and yellow must be "far" from each other so that when it need to mix them to make the desired colour, they badly blend.

Yellow tint on top of the screen

While I was watching a video, I noticed a permanent yellow tint on top of my screen (where signal/time/wifi are located, in those spots). The yellow tint is permanent and it's more noticeable when the brightness is on max, especially on white screens), it doesn't go away nor it changes (for example on yellow tint, i can see some past 'time' and notifications). I am not sure how to explain it better. The phone never fell down, nor It has any damages. I have it for a year and I never had any issues.
Anyone with the same problem? I mean it's something terrible but it sometimes it's annoying.
I also wanna say, if I take a screenshot of my screen, and then check that screen on my PC for example, I don't see the yellow tint.
That's exactly how it looks: https://cdn57.androidauthority.net/...17/05/aa-imgur-galaxy-s8-burn-in-1200x675.jpg
Screen burn in, I imagine? Plus I can see my Google keyboard clearly on a fully blue screen. I wonder if the problem is just the screen or the frame underneath the screen as well. I guess it's not fixable unless you replace it...
