List of packages that can be removed from the ROM stock - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Guides, News, & Discussion

Does anyone have a list of secure packages, especially miui's system apps, which can be removed without compromising the ROM? I would really appreciate it

No mate :cyclops: I was not referring to those obviously, but apps that are identified as system-level and not detunable, such as "Printservice" or "Radio Fm" etc, which I personally always remove. So I would like to know if anyone already has a couple of secure packages of this type to recommend. Thanks in advance.

I personally used a thread I found in the Mi 9 forums: https://forum.xda-developers.com/Mi-9/themes/xiaomi-mi9-debloat-root-root-t3910021
Almost all the packages are the same as on the Redmi Note 7.

Personally I removed these without any issues:
com.android.browser # Mi Browser
com.miui.bugreport # Mi Feedback
com.miui.compass # Mi Compass
com.miui.notes # Mi Notes
com.miui.screenrecorder # Mi Screen Recorder
com.miui.videoplayer # Mi Video
com.miui.player # Mi Music
com.xiaomi.midrop # Mi Drop
com.xiaomi.scanner # Mi Scanner
I also want to know which apps people have removed without issues.

I use app MiUi Hidden Settings only to disable apps like browser ,calendar ,mi video ..and all that I dont need from MIUI

I'm not sure. I haven't update it because I switch to EU ROM but even if it come back it took like 3 min to debloat them all again.
I did debloat using that tools right away after I bought the phone. its magic.

No, they don't come back with updates but they do come back if you do a factory reset. There's also an option to reinstall deleted apps.

Yea they'll come back if you flash a rom that has them included in it. You'll have to use the tool mentioned before to remove them again.

Hi I've disabled xiaomi framework, but when you click Agree button on EULA at the startup It would crash.
You won't be able to use your phone as every time you click agree would crash com.android.provision.

please try the following and report if it worked :
-Open the downloaded ROM with archive manager 7zip or winrar
-navigate to system/app/
-delete Provision.apk (or complete Provision directory in Android L)
-transfer the ZIP File to your phone
-flash it like you did before and try again!
now the setup wizard should be gone and you can use your phone without any problems.

For me everything except messaging is fine, english language.
Tried debloating my rom many times, removing provision would cause home button and the task list button not to work.
EDIT:
Tried it again, as expected usual buttons don't work and messaging crashes.
Does removing Xiaomi Framework would cause Mi account not to work on settings?
I'm actually in a mess now, tried to find TWRP to download and reflash but removed from all links I can find, when I used flashify it said flashed ok but won't boot into recovery. Tried to install normal rom with this recovery, half way through failed signature. So keep well clear of this I now have a rom installed without messaging and no recovery. Can someone send me a TWRP so I can flash through fastboot, I'm not confident though.

ok so managed to install stock recovery and flash latest weekly, (Messages now working) if someone could link TWRP that would be great.

Mi 9Tpro EU comes with stock android Dialer etc

Unpleasant surprise for me ...
After getting my Mi 9Tpro euro, I discovered that the euro phone does not comes with the following:
Xiaomi Dialer/Contact
Xiaomi Sms
Facemoji Keyboard
But with the stock Google dialer etc .. instead
if Facemoji can easily be installed, from the store, the dialer and sms (althought they can be downloaded from apk repositories ) will crash or not fully work if you side load them from apk..
Vanilla android app might be to some taste , but I'm pissed to be stuck with them as I happen to like Xiomi's
may be I could try to get the global ROM? but really wtf is xiaomi doing with there euro rom... and what reviewer are doing ... seems they are testing everything but the phone part of the phone -_-
can't you just use one of the miui.eu roms? they include all xiaomi features but without the bloat/spyware

Afik, xiaomi.eu doesn't have ota support. Also, I faced mic problem in eu rom. I'm currently using mi globe and it's based on xiaomi.eu but surprisingly doesn't have mic problem.
Also, .eu rom is based on Chinese miui.

OTA does not work on EU roms you would need to install the updates manually. It would not cause any data loss. You can read about this on xiaomi.eu

No. Installing the original miui apks doesn't work, they crash. There are two ways to have them - wait for the global official rom to come out at en.miui.com and try to install it without unlocking bootloader, or if it doesn't work out - unlock, install it and leave it like that. I've posted a theme here for the call recording and it's the same problem, actually...

After some long, tedious and pointless email exchange with OnePlus Support they finally said they were sorry for "miscommunication" and advised to raise this as an idea here: https://forums.oneplus.com/feedback/
I do not agree this is an idea. There is already a builtin call recording app, this just has to be allowed by default for Poland just like for India.
What you can do with a minimum effort to enable it on the phone:
Get SetEdit App from Play Store
Get jOnePlus Tools
Get ADB as shown here https://www.xda-developers.com/install-adb-windows-macos-linux/
Run two ADB Commands:
adb shell pm grant net.jroot3d.joneplustools android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
adb shell pm grant by4a.setedit22 android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
In SetEdit go to Global Table (top right), then find "op_voice_recording_supported_by_mcc", edit the value to 1
Go to jOnePlus Tools, enable call recording
What will you achieve? Now, you can auto record calls in your region through the built-in app.
Will this work after reboot? jOnePlus Tools should keep the recording after the reboot. In case it does not, you can use SetEdit after the reboot to enable the option after the reboot.
Does this need root? No root require.
Linking all threads in this forum about our common dialer problem:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/help/mi-9t-pro-call-recording-t3961106
https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/help/mi-9t-pro-problem-t3959150
It might possibly lead to not crash the xiaomi call app, but I think installing the global rom is easier and less risky. Just wait and see... And there will be OTAs with the official global rom.
installed the xiaomi.eu rom
it has xiomi apps (and new one from the quick menu)
it second space is off by defalt
i get twice the battery life (for my usage)
I wonder if this is the reason for the lack of the call recording feature:
https://iapp.org/news/a/how-do-the-rules-on-audio-recording-change-under-the-gdpr/ (summary, it's illegal in Europe to record calls, without the explicit agreement of the other person)
How about searching on APKMirror?

authorization system applications miui 12 ?

Hi, I just did the update to miui 12 and I notice that we can no longer manage authorizations for system applications.
User applications no worries, but the systems can't anymore?
So basically they can do what they want!
I missed something or we have to go back to miui 11 to get a basic function.

Better get to work changing the ROM then.
Yes, it's something we want. System apps should not be tempered with, because users tempering with them is one major cause for issues.
Also, on Global ROM, even if you disable certain permissions for certain system apps, they are reset again on reboot anyway...

Thanks @Killuminati91 what version it is? mine is 9.0.30.49 and with this one is still the same or the magisk module I made is not updating or needs something else.
I placed in in the module at /product/priv-app/MotCamera4/MotCamera4.apk
update: Looks like it is working if needs to be placed in magisk module with system/ first
version at the cam app is 9.0.30.78 but in config>apps... still says 30.49 mb there is another apk
Info in camera and settings/apps says 9.0.30.78. Its from the latest 16-53-9 EU Firmware. Yeah all partitions require /system/ first in magisk modules afaik.

The Cam app once opened on settings>about says version is 9.0.30.78 so looks like it is updated but closing the camera app and goign to system settings>apps>allapps>camera still says 9.0.30.49 on my device
Anyway i don't see much change with this app, we will need to wait for a new update or some works on the custom roms or someothing from the new xiaomi X12 Pro that has the same 200Mpx sensor
Yeah, the app itself is not the main problem for the sensor. Its deeper in the libs, you can see that focus is also broken in third party apps at 4k 60fps.
I'd also assume that the color calibration / (maybe even raw?) is done with their Camera-Tuner App, so that might be related as well.
Thought about swapping the libs with the xiaomi ones as well once we get a full rom of that phone. Gotta wait and see
Also worth trying this, to see if at least we can get the raw 200Mpx data for manual settings where 50 is max
by:
1.- Edit the file (with a magisk module) camxoverridesettings.txt at vendor/etc/camera and add this line at the end:
reprocessDump=TRUE
2.- Then once you take any picture in othere phones files will be generated at ./data/vendor/camera with the full raw stuff.
But with this phone it is not working, mb the camxoverridesettings.txt goes in other location in this phone
Just tested with the camxoverridesettings.xml from the Xiaomi 12t pro and it definitely replaces the file.
I also tried to replace the samsung hp1 libs from vendor/lib and vendor/lib64 with the ones from the xiaomi but they all crash the camera once installed.
