Is there a way to enable fingerprint recognition after unlocking the bootloader? - Xiaomi Mi A2 / 6X Questions & Answers

I want to root my device and in order to do that, I need to unlock the bootloader. However, when I try to unlock the bootloader using Xiaomi's unlock tool (https://en.miui.com/unlock/) it says that the fingerprint recognition will be disabled. Will there be any way to re-enable this once I've rooted the device?

I unlocked the bootloader with adb/cmd and fingerprint works normal. No problems so far.

"Xiaomi unlock tool" is not for Android One devices

No, that's not true. It probably applies to other Xiaomi devices, but this line of devices is special. These come with Android One, which runs Google's pure OS rather than regular Xiaomi devices that run MIUI.
I'm going to unlock and root (hopefully) mine. You shouldn't face any problems with the fingerprint.

Relock after Root?

Hello Guys
Do you relock the bootloader after root of nexus 6?
It's probably not the best idea. Though now the "OEM unlocking" option seems to stick after a reboot on 5.1+ it's probably not as risky as it was.

I'm going to go ahead and just say no. No reason to relock other than RMA or resale. Best to leave unlocked just because if you run into issues, it's much easier to recover if your bootloader is unlocked.
Never relock unless you are on a stock image
I have never relocked a bootloader, ever.
Old thread I realize, but wouldn't this be useful to keep the anti-theft feature intact while rooted? And furthermore, does it actually work? I.e. does it leave root intact after it's locked but forbid flashing new roms to circumvent anti-theft. (I own a Nexus 6P by the way, but imagine the regular 6 has an updated bootloader with the same features.)

the problem is if your bootloader is locked, and you ho into a bootloop for amy reason, and your oem unlock option is not enabled in the developer options, then you bricked your phone. most people that lock their bootloaders, or have them locked, dont enable the oem unlick option. if thats not enabled, and youre in a bootloop, you cant flash a factory image or do anything else to fix it.

If you are encrypted, the only thing a locked bootloader adds is the ability to flash a custom boot.img that can decrypt your data (which doesn't exist). It's a very hypothetical scenario. The problems with locking the bootloader are as mentioned above by @simms22

oem unlocking non persistent on g6

Hello I have a new Moto G6. I have enabled developer options and I've enabled OEM unlocking. But it doesn't seem to stay enabled between reboots? I just bought this yesterday. I'm trying to unlock the bootloader, but I can't unless OEM unlocking stays enabled. Am I missing something? I know there's currently no root for the G6, but still I think I should be able to unlock it, or am I mistaken?

That just allows the bootloader to be unlocked. You still would need to actually unlock it following the unlocking guide thread in the guides section

Yes I know this is not root, this is just unlocking the bootloader, yes I do have a key from motorola. But I can't do anything if OEM unlocking will not persist between reboots. I'm just trying to unlock the bootloader. And yes it is unlocked for sims.

I said nothing of root. Unless I am missing something from your original post, "Allow OEM unlocking" just allows the bootloader to be unlockable. After you tick it, reboot directly into fastboot mode (not back into android, that'll untick it again).
[GUIDE] Unlock Bootloader - This states after enabling OEM Unlock in settings (from within Android) to reboot into the bootloader (This guide says power off and then power back on while holding volume down, if you have debugging on you can just "adb reboot bootloader"). Rebooting back into Android with the bootloader still locked I believe does untick the OEM Unlock option.
ok thanks, I'll try again.
I have the XT 1925-6 US unlocked version. One of the first things I do with a new phone is to enable Developer Options and toggle OEM Unlock even though I may not Unlock the Bootloader right away.
The OEM Unlock toggle has stayed persistently on through numerous reboots with the Bootloader still locked.
Hmm.. Well I could have sworn I had seen what was described before, however it has been a while. I unlocked mine all in one go so I can't say. If it's supposed to stay on then I'd really be curious why it isn't for jloh

Bootloader re-locked after OTA update

Hey, for a reasons I needed to do ota update (reflashed stock recovery[extracted from matching update] before doing so), now when im trying to reinstall TWRP i've noticed that my bootloader re-locked on its own.
Was this supposed to happen? iirc people keep telling you that you can't relock bootloader without it's backup from locked state.
It's quite annoying that it happen since I did pay for unlock via DC unlocker and now huawei stopped distributing unlock codes so I'll probably need to pay DC again.
Cheers!
edit: DC unlocker did not even allow me to Unlock bootloader, only thing i saw was Lock bootloader, but there was option to "Read bootloader code" (no credits needed) and I managed to unlock bootloader again using fastboot and this code

This is a flag in OTA update, it may be present or not (now seems to be always enforced, new Huawei policy) that OTA locks Bootloader
You cannot disable this flag in OTA package
Bootloader is not relocked but really locked (better for those who go to service under warranty)
Bootloader code is unique for your device.
No matter did you obtain it from Huawei or DC, you have TO KEEP it, you don't need to pay, read or ask again, just use the same bootloader code for the same phone for the lifetime of your phone

thanks for the answer, didnt know about flag nor that bootloader unlock code can be used multiple times(and that its paired with HW)
nevertheless, as I said in my edit I managed to get my unlock code for free with dc unlocker

that's what I suspect, but sadly can't confirm or deny. I think I didn't even see the code itself when I used it for the first time due to the fact that unlock process was automatized within DC unlocker's client app, so all I had to do was to prepare the phone and press Unlock Bootloader within the client

I used DC client once (4 Euros), I obtained the code (saved it for future) and used in Fastboot to unlock Bootloader just like previously for the other Huawei phone whose code I obtained for free from Huawei (before they closed this service)

Question Unlock bootloader security concerns

Hello to everyone,
I wanted to unlock the bootloader of my device so I can modify it and I tried to follow the steps given by Xiaomi.
1] enable OEM unlock in developer settings,
2] connected my device to PC
3] signed in xiaomi unlocking tool
then a warning about security changes appeared before finalise the unlocking stating that i will lose fingerprint unlocking service of my phone.
The question is if someday I decide to return my phone to full stock state will fingerprint and the other security services return as functioning?
Thank you in advance.
Yeah you'll be fine. You will have to downalod rom image form xiaomi website, downalod xiaomi flashing tool, connect phone in fastboot mode and flash original os. Phone will be like brand new
And i don't remember that my fingerprint scanner had any problmes, now i have custom rom installed and its perfectly fine

Thank you for the info. It's just what Xiaomi Unlock Tool reports I couldn't know.
The reason I am asking is because I need fingerprint services and NFC for my work.
Thanks again.

I will try some custom roms and if they won't have the features I want I'll try the Indonesian region rom for mi apps. Also, I know I shouldn't relock the bootloader with custom roms, but can I relock it with different regions official roms?

Yes, everything works fine. If you want a close to stock experience flash xiaomi.eu, and everything will work. Fingerprint, facial recognition, nfc and banking apps will work perfectly fine, nothing to be worried about

Unlock FRP Honor 9 Lite (LLD-L31)

How to unlock FRP on Honor 9 Lite? Software version is the latest 9.1.0.158, where many tricks like Hangouts no longer work. Apparently the only trick that works is unlock with test point? With what software and how does the unlocking perform?
whilst I have been trying to unlock the bootloader, I accidently unlocked frp (now red "unlocked"). I don't remember how I did it; i unlocked OEM and then randomly tried all possible testpoints; no software used. Installed all the drivers.

bro you are so much lucky i have to first short circuit testpoint and then change code from potato nv then unlock bootloader from fastboot so much tension
I have a LLD-L31 and trying to short the testpoint, no success after hours of trying.
FPF is unlocked tho.
