Slow shutter speed for low light doesn't work. (US version Huawei Mate 10 Pro) - Huawei Mate 10 Guides, News, & Discussion

I'm using the latest version for Huawei Mate 10 Pro. It's the US version with single sim. Model is BLA-A09.
I usually do low light photography on my other phone using like 1-30 seconds shutter speed with a tripod. I tried doing this with latest software update on the Huawei Mate 10 Pro. Manual mode doesn't seem to see any difference
I tried using auto on shutter speed with ISO 50 and notice it would be capped at 1/12. Cover the lense for complete darkness it will stay at 1/12. Also aim the camera towards the light to test if the auto work and it would increase the speed to 1/48 .
I really want shutter speed slower than 1/12. The options are there but they don't work.

Use Pro mode.

Auto mode will note give you a shutter speed slower than 1/10 of a second. Use Pro mode instead and make sure to properly set iso and shutter speed

Sorry I meant I already did Pro mode with manual settings. That's what I said earlier.
I notice the 1/12 or slower is the same. No matter how long the shutter time is it will look the same as 1/12. Picture should be brighter with 30 seconds but it looks the same as 1/12.
Huawei phone is still dark at 30 seconds and Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe settings at 32 seconds is very bright. My Canon EOS 5d Mark II easily does the same thing.

Well, that's not right. 4 second shutter time overexposes of it's not very dark.

Time to take picture (camera launch speed)

There! Something just happened! Did you take a picture of it? Rate this thread to express how fast the LG Nexus 5X can go from "zero to picture". A higher rating indicates that launching the camera app and taking a photo is extremely fast such that you never miss an important moment, like when your cat attacks the couch again.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Launches pretty fast with double-click of home button.
Fast even with HDR+ in optimal lighting.
Is the autofocus faster than the asus zenfone laser?
It's been extremely slow for me even to open, nevermind capture a picture. I do not have HDR on and this is after the supposed update that would make things quicker.
Camera is quick enough for me - I usually just do point an shoot pictures.
I think camera launch speed is a hit or miss sometimes.
Most of the time it is quick. But at times, it takes like up to an second before the viewfinder comes on from black screen.
totally hit or miss. but i feel most of the time it's about 5-10 seconds from double hit power button to blue shutter button to take a pic. coming from an S6 which really marketed the **** out of their fast launch camera, this is night and day. Nexus needs to pick up some speed.

It never takes longer than 2 seconds for me. I've compared it to my Nexus 5 and it's consistently 1 second faster to load the camera and ready to take a picture with HDR+ enabled.
You might have some background processes eating up your resources during the time it takes 5-10 seconds to load your camera. We can assume that is caused by one of your 3rd party apps. Most likely one that hasn't been properly updated to support Android 6.0.
Camera is Bugged
camera is slow af to load compared to an s6 or any iOS device
trick i found for 3-4s off to capture time
just got a 5x, but found the shortcuts to camera too slow.
i worked out a trick which consistently gives me short capture times.
seems to work with any camera app; i use Camera X for burst.
prep work:
- allow fingerprint unlock
- launch desired camera app
- turn phone off
- pocket the thing and wait for... the moment.
- unlock with fingerprint and ...
- ... tap volume down to take a photo, or hold for burst
the biggest downside? the AF is slow, so my subject (a toddler) is often too quick / out of focus.
Happy with camera
Apparently 2 seconds from the phone being off to taking a HDR+ picture is slow to some people?
My camera always loads in 2 seconds and can snap HDR+ pictures in succession with zero delay (it processes in the background).
Compared to my N5, the camera is noticeably faster and the image quality is better too.
Not the fastest camera but launches preety fast. It takes some time to focus and take a pictures. For the cost they shoud have improved this.
Oh man, after the April Update, camera launches and focuses so much faster. I am amazed.
From lock to take a picture, sometimes slow or even could not connect to camera. When I just got the phone it seemed fine, now I can't rely. Would 85% storage full affect it somehow?
Sometimes indeed it has some af issues (my toddler is sometimes faster than Nexus apparently) but there are very rare occasions. I take a bunch of photos and I've never experienced any real problem. Camera is responsive, and there is always the opportunity to take another shot
Camera Speed improved with nougat, especially hdr processing
Not fast enough, definitely can't compare with S7 Edge.

Camera Pro mode not updating the preview

Hi, I bought a P9 that is yet to arrive but the other day I was using my friends P9 and wanted to try the camera in pro mode (which is the mode that I use the most on my phones) and I noticed that after some speeds, when playing with shutter speed, the viewfinder image just stops updating the amount of light that should enter ie. I'm indoors with artificial light and if I set the speed to the fastest posible the viewfinder does not go black (and it stops showing the differences in lightning way before the fastest shutterspeed). Same goes the other way, if I set the speed to a ver very low one the viewfinder does not end up looking white, so it makes this feature useless cause the only way I have to see if I'm using the correct speed is to take the shot and then open the picture to see if it was the correct speed. I noticed this happening also in the Huawei Mate 8. I'm used to the LG G4 wich every step of the shutter speed shows a difference in lightning in the image your watching. Is there a way to fix this? does this happend with every Huawei phone? I haven't got the phone yet but I'm already thinking of selling it and getting an S7
I am also coming from an LG G4 and found the lack of feedback in terms of how much light I get by changing different setting, as I major drawback. To answer your question: yes, all Huawei phones seem to lack this feature. The only option is to take a shoot at that setting and adjust back and forth, per the exposure you see on the picture taken.

thanks a lot, I'm really going to miss G4's camera app along with it camera quality so I think I'm gonna sell the p9 as soon as I get it and get an S7, the pro mode in a camera is way too important to me to withstand this Huawei bug like behavior =/
If you lock the shutter speed, then by changing to different ISO values you get a good feedback on the live screen related how much light gets in. But unfortunately does not work the other way around which is equally important, to lock the ISO and play with shutter speed. So it`s a half of drawback but still annoying.

P10 Camera sensor details?

Does anybody know which sensor does the P10 use? Is it the same Sony IMX286 in the P9 or a newer one?
Google did not came up with anything...
Bump
IMX286 (12M color) and IMX350 (20M mono)
front may be IMX319
someone goes to customer service center and get this report
Are you sure it's from the Huawei P10. The P10 is supposed to have lpddr4 ram. And i think that the IMX319 is a 22 mp sensor.

1. it seems no other phone use IMX 319
2. lpddr4 is just a "supposed" .
now ,in china huafans club ,many users test and find it to be lpddr3
test method refer to this post
forum.xda-developers.com/p10/help/test-flash-androbench-5-t3590297
install Terminal Emulator,input:
cat proc/ddr_rod
Hi,
I'm evaluating buying this phone but I would like to use for low light photography among several things. I read an article saying, on the P9, that shutter speeds go from 1/4000 down to 30 secs. Is this also equal in the P10? Because nobody says those specs of min and max shutter speeds and in one page I found it doesn't get too low values, and I wonder if Huawei lowered the specs form P9 to P10. This is appart from Light Painting which I understand is a software mode.
Could someone with this phone give me this information of speeds?
Many thanks!
Leandro.

Huawei Pro 30 Pro Cam mode shutter speed speed issue after emui 10.1.0 update

i have updated my huawei p30 pro to EMUI 10.1.0 on 14 July 2020, in region pakistan, and phone was bought in UAE.
The camera app has some settings changed after update, and placed in different section but thats not the case.
Story:
i have done night photography through huawei p30 pro on its previous software, through its official camera app from pro mode, and shutter speed was working fine and giving proper result like if set for 30 seconds so it were capturing for 30 seconds.
But after the update, and tonight at 16 july, i was trying to capture milky way through it, i have set all the procedures needed like tracking milky way and tripod setup etc.
Now i was capturing photos with 30 seconds shutter speed and when the timer will be over the phone will stuck on loading and the pictures will be appeared after a while in gallery.
But i have captured many pictures and still got no perfect result and so i got bit curious because i have watched review of samsung galaxy s20 series phone and it was capturing fine but in my huawei only a tiny bit of something was showing in resulted pictures of milky way.
then i got focused on shutter speed, and it was set on 30 seconds but when i campared it through stop watch in other phone so it was capturing for 15 seconds but the screen was showing that it is set to 30 seconds, i restarted cam app, but still same, tried shutter speed with different mode like wide, normall, optical zoomed, but all are giving 15 seconds and similarly 7 seconds for 15 seconds, and rest it goes upto 32 seconds in 30 seconds mode but capturing is stopped at 15 seconds and rest is just processing only, and only more thing is that EV function gets locked if iso is modified, and then even if you set to auto of any other value but EV will remain locked.
So please someone verify it with old version if you have it and if not then please if any expert is availble so please carify me something, and tell me how to downgrade it so i can get the feature for 30 second back.

Samsung Galaxy note 8 better cam?

I have a Samsung Note 8 that I use for a bit of astrophotography. It has the pro mode in camera, but max ISO is 800, Shutter speed 10 seconds. Is there a way I can increase my SS settings? I am a complete stranger here, I know nothing about phone developing. I am hoping there is just an app to install, but if need be, will watch youtube videos to figure out rooting etc.
