no flash or unlocked bootloader but can update 10.2.8.0 PFGMIXM to 10.3.5.0 PFGMIXM - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Guides, News, & Discussion

seems like incompetence is common with xiaomi's official forums these days and with their RANDOM OTA pushing of OFFICIAL Roms, my faith in this company is fast dwindling, couple with their fiasco of the horrendous wait times to unlock the bootloader.
I have the solution to update your rom via the Updater App, this if for PFGMIXM rom only.
the option of "selected update package" is hidden by xiaomi, which irks me even more. you need ten taps on the MIUI 10 logo to "unlock" the "additional options"
download this incremental ota update package 588MB file.
https://bigota.d.miui.com/V10.3.5.0....PFGMIXM-V10.3.5.0.PFGMIXM-eaf98de0e9-9.0.zip
this is the file that is pushed to the updater app should you be so lucky to be randomly chosen.
transfer file to phone and "select update package" from the Updater App

Cannot manually install OTA and no OTA updates available

I just bought a new R1 HD Prime version. It's on 6.1, and the wireless update is showing that no updates are available. So I've tried manually downloading the OTA updates and applying them from local storage using the wireless update app, but I get an error message when attempting to do so (Signature verification failed). How am I supposed to update this phone? It's completely stock.
The only thing I've noticed is that the build time of what's on my phone is slightly different than what the 6.4 OTA says it's supposed to be updated from:
My build - BLU_R0010UU_V6.1_GENERIC 17-06-2016 14:53
OTA build - BLU_R0010UU_V6.1_GENERIC_6.0_20160617-1456
Notice the build time is different by 3 minutes. Is that maybe the source of the problem I'm having? I'm honestly at a loss here and I really want to get this phone updated.
Found out what the problem was with the manual OTA...I committed that cardinal sin of not opening up the zip file and realized I needed to extract update.zip I'm still not sure why the wireless update wasn't getting the OTA from 6.1 to 6.4, but once I was able to manually update to 6.4 I got the subsequent OTAs.

FOTA is not supported

I'm running mrmarzak's stock V8.5 ROM and I got a notification from Wireless Update to download and install the latest update to the ROM. After downloading, I click "Install Now" and I get the message:
"Warning
FOTA is not supported on this device!"
The only way to get rid of the notification is to turn off all notifications for Wireless Updater. Even then, I still get a pop-up reminder every so often to complete the update, but each click-through results in this same message. Can anyone help?

Reboot to recovery. Clear cache
Should do it. Might need to clear app data for Fota, or can remove fota.
Don't think you want the full oem ota update anyway.
It updates the preloader and that makes recovering from bad modifications harder (blocks spflash tools)
But if you want the full official ota update, you can restore the "fota reboot apk". It is renamed to ".apk_ " right now to block the install. So you can rename /system/FotaReboot/FotaReboot.apk_ to /system/FotaReboot/FotaReboot.apk

Thanks, mrmazak! And thanks for all your work on the R1 HD! I was really in the mood to tinker last night, so I flashed your LIneage port last night... That not only fixed the problem on my phone, but I'm loving the ROM so far. Only thing I've noticed is that the signal indicators for wifi and both SIM cards seem a bit lower than what i remember from the stock ROM (ie. a place that used to give me 4 bars now shows 2 or 3). But I haven't noticed a decline in performance per se. Maybe this is a software glitch and the signals are still read as strongly by the phone?
Again, many thanks for all your efforts!

[HELP NEEDED] PRA-LX1C432B170 currently, no update found after debranding

Hi all,
I have a PRA-LX1 that had a Vodafone customization. The suddendly it just factory resetted itself (I SWEAR, I had it in my pocket) only to find it with a NRD90M firmware. Sick of this customization, I unlocked the bootloader and flashed a C432 oeminfo. I then tried to flash PRA-LX1C432B212 downloaded via FirmwareFinder, but went in bootloop. Well, no panic: fired up eRecovery, it installs PRA-LX1C432B170. I installed it and after the factory reset I now have a working phone. My only question is: is B170 really the latest available version I can get via OTA? I'd like not to lose the OTA feature so I don't have to rely on Firmware Finder to get updates every time... is there anything I can do?
A slightly related question: one thing I tried is to download B212 with FirmwareFinder. I managed to use the in-app proxy and actually found an update, but once it downloaded it didn't apply because of some failed verification (I don't have the phone with me now, but it was something AFTER the integrity check, so it's not something related to the download. I also verified the availability of B212 in FF by clicking the "Check Firmware Access" button and it's actually not available, like any other version I tried. Does this mean I won't get any OTA in the future?
Here is a discussion, probably related to your problem. Are you using TWRP Recovery when installing the OTA update or the stock recovery?
I read somewhere that Huawei OTA updates won't install on custom recoveries.

Question Update EEA ROM without unlocking

Hi there, I recently purchased a Redmi Note 10 Pro, it's currently on the following MIUI OS and firmware.
MIUI GLOBAL STABLE (EU edition)
12.5.8.0 - RKFEUXM.
I would like to update it to MIUI 13 if I try and update using standard OTA update it says nothing is available and I don't seem to be able to update it manually as it says sorry can't update to this stable version. I would like to try and use the method outlined here :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/update-to-beta-miui-13-eea-xiaomi-beta-tester-bypass.4395965/
However I can't find the ROM I'm currently on available to download, i can only find 12.5.7.0 and if I try using that it says you cannot flash an older version.
This is where I looked for the ROM, where you can see the latest EEA ROM shows as 12.5.7, however I'm on 12.5.8.

Any advice / help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Pretty sure you can just apply official updates just fine
Grab the zip here https://bigota.d.miui.com/V13.0.10....Global_V13.0.10.0.SKFEUXM_4ce18080e3_12.0.zip
Apply via "choose update package" from updater app.

Thanks for getting back to me. I downloaded that update and I get the following error.
Flash to this stable version is not allowed. I've attached a screenshot. Thank you in advance for your help.
Hm, I faced similar message long ago, updating from oldest 12.0 miui directly to latest 12.5, had to increment to latest 12.0, then to latest 12.5. But you're already on latest 12.5.
Try this one, maybe it's not allowed to directly update to latest 13.0 ?
https://bigota.d.miui.com/V13.0.3.0.SKFEUXM/miui_SWEETEEAGlobal_V13.0.3.0.SKFEUXM_73299ee316_12.0.zip
And last time, are sure you use the EEA or RKFEUXM? Found 12.5.8 is the latest 12.5 for RKFMIXM, or Global non EEA.

Thanks for your prompt reply.
I get a message saying sorry, cannot flash to this older version with the link you have provided.
I've attached the error and I have also attached my phone version details, which I believe is the EEA version. Please can you confirm I have this correct?
Thanks again
Also wanted to add, I found this post. My phone box was dated 05/22 and wonder if the updates haven't been released to this batch of phones? However my phone is on Android security update 01/03/22...surely running a 4 month out of date security update isn't good?
Thanks Again
Same problem. It's stuck on 12.5.8.0 RKFEUXM. None of the newer recovery's work via 'Updater'.
I've tried (SKFEUXM):
13.0.3.0, 13.0.8.0 - "Can't verify update. Sorry, flash to older version is not allowed"
13.0.9.0, 13.0.10.0 - "Can't verify update. Sorry, flash to this stable version is not allowed."
Current security update: 2022-03-01.
Alright I give up, sorry. Move your data, unlock your bootloader (this will clean format your device), flash/boot latest official twrp then flash the 13.0.10 EU update zip. 12.5.8 EU might a recalled update that never goes to wider public.

Will this break Google pay and banking apps etc...as this was the main reason I didn't want to unlock it?
Could be, very odd though, seems like a few people are in the same situation as me. Was hoping Xiaomi would resolve it.
Thank you

You can relock it again after a successful update to latest EU. But to be sure, better flash fastboot image (*.tgz file) using mi flash instead after unlocking bootloader, rather than flash recovery zip using twrp.
For anyone else reading this, I returned the phone to Amazon and was sent a replacement with a different date stamp 02/22. This has successfully updated to MIUI 13.0.10 without any issues at all. Definitely something to do with the 05/22 batch of phones.

Question Attempting to upgrade into 14.0.5.0.TKBEUXM (Mi 11 EEA)

Hello,
I'm currently on 14.0.3.0.TKBEUXM on my Mi 11 5G. Device had been using a custom ROM/root in the past, but after facing some inconveniences I decided to go back to the "official" MIUI ROM. Also removed root. So, as far as I know, automatic updates are out of the question now.
Some months ago I manually upgraded into 14.0.3.0.TKBEUXM through "Settings > About Phone > MIUI Version > Choose update package"
Now that 14.0.5.0 EEA is out, I tried updating the same way but I'm getting the "Can't verify update: Can't flash this ROM" error.
I assumed that in order to update to 14.0.5.0, I needed to upgrade into 14.0.4.0 first, but I'm still getting the same error.
Also, I've seen that there's an incremental update file but I'm assuming that it can only be used to upgrade from 14.0.4.0 to 14.0.5.0 which I can't use since I'm still in 14.0.3.0. Am I downloading the wrong package?
So, what other options do I have?
I honestly just want to upgrade to the latest version in order to have the latest Android Security Updates. I recall there being Fastboot/Recovery methods to upgrade, but I wanted to ask you guys first since I am not sure if my data will be wiped using those methods.
Any help is deeply appreciated.
