After you have run through the initial setup of your new Redmi Note 7 here are a few things you should do first on the Note 7.

I do two things, set gps to battery saving, and in developers options set limit proces to three instead of standard. I notice that battery last longer

How much 'longer', after you set it up to three?

i do 2 things first
1) look for twrp official
2) look for pixel experience
oh wow, NEITHER are available for this device 6 months after its released :victory:

For me and my phone usage..day and a half.. with playing , gaming , YouTube, data usage..social networks..
But it will a little slow down your phone.. because every app you open ,is closed ..and..takes a little time to open it.. because its not in proces..so..

Yeah how about you build your own ROM. Be patience. Developers are doing it if they felt like doing it. Stop barking if this phones never gets Pixel Experience ROM. Also this phone just came out for some places officially

please don't get upset at me. i am very patient for 6 months - maybe you can build us pixel experience, you seem to have alot to say, stay calm i am sure we will get something custom by 2030. :fingers-crossed:

You're here on this forum since just one month and you really think you can complain about not having your new toy and scream about it ? If you're not happy with what devs give us FOR FREE... what are you doing here ? do u understand words like "community", "free work" and "sharing" ? i guess no.
Please, with all respect, do not respond, you will just look more stupid (if it's even possible).

Not releasing source code isn't sharing ?

You are a living example of what is wrong with this community and how much better it used to be. A lot of cocky ungrateful brats these days, acting like people owe them anything lol. Well here is the truth, no one owes you **** here buddy, so stop crying and whining, or as another user already said, build the rom yourself if you are so smartass. Also, you seem to have big problems with maths, because this device was released february 28. So its not even 3months old yet lmao. Just stop talking nonsense please, no one likes or appreciates your attitude in this forum.

You know, a couple of you guys aren't exactly helping the mood or fostering the feeling of community. I'm being blunt, not trying to continue the attacks. Folks that have been around for a while are right to keep the new people and haters in check, no doubt we need that, but jumping all over someone when he wasn't really begging, complaining about anyone in particular, or being especially rude, is a bigger problem - this turns new people off. The "old" members seem to get pissy a little too quick and a little too often, don't you think? We don't need XDA becoming 4chan/Android or the Twitter of development - we're all better than that.
I took his comment simply as frustration, and he was not incorrect, except he had the date wrong - and you seem to be aware of that, so cut him some slack, please. When you treat newer and less experienced people the exact same way you ask them NOT to act, they tend to go away rather than learn and eventually contribute to the community, and we need all the new help we can get. I'm sure I've been present in the Android ROM community for longer than anyone in this thread (2009, HTC Dream), and I don't stoop to personal attacks here (I save it for Reddit, LOL), so I'll kindly ask you all to stick to constructive comments. I'm sure you're all smart enough to point out to people where they've gone wrong without being twice as rude as them, right?
I'll go back to lurking now, and hope the Redmi Note 7 community here is a little nicer and more helpful than some of the devices I've been researching here lately. It used to be legitimately fun. Shout out to @owenbeals for getting the ball rolling on what should be a fun and insightful thread. Let's get it back on track.

First thing I do on any Android phone or tablet: Install Nova Launcher. I like how it works, I can easily set things up the way I'm used to having them, and it works reliably and smoothly.
For the Redmi Note 7, I went ahead and used my previous/existing phone to set things up more or less automatically, which I had not had great luck with in the past but worked very well to install my apps and whatnot. I did choose to restore my Nova settings from a backup saved to my Google drive, which worked, too.
I also install Textra immediately, and this time I didn't even bother trying Xiaomi's stock messaging app, because I like Textra that much. And I turned off auto brightness, because I never agree with it on what is the correct setting for any given environment.
What else, besides case and screen protector? I know, Gorilla Glass 5, but it can still scratch, and even a cheap slim case can help a phone survive the drops I'm sure to put it through. For the cheap price, I was tempted to go "naked," just to keep it slim and simple, but that's a recipe for disaster with my butter fingers.

Sorry but your post is wayyy too long to finish. I did read the first paragraph tho. And no, i dont feel like i did anything wrong here. He is rude, entitled and ungrateful person, thats a fact. No one likes his attitude here, thats also a fact. And its not only about this comment, if you look at his profile, hes a new member, whos all posts are the same, crying and whining and criticizing devs for not delivering his favourite rom like they owe him that. LOL. So yeah, im gonna stay with my words.

Next up is to unlock the boot loader, install TWRP, and try some ROMs. Big LOS fan, but I'll try any ROM that looks stable-ish.

Okay, great, thanks for being so helpful and making my point for me.

Only thing we could potentially learn from you is being childish, self entitled, rude kiddo. Oh, and we could also learn broken math from you, because apparently its been over 6months since february 28 lmao.

Ready for a stupid question?

Ok I know this is an extremely stupid question, and yes I'm sure its been asked before. But I've been REALLY bored lately and just thought I would ask. Is it possible to or has it been tried to port the iPhone os to the g1?
Please keep the ridicule to a minimum. Remember, its only a harmless question.
the difference in closed-sourced and open-sourced.......
no, it can't be done.
(for now i will not flame you, but i make no promises if gridlock or supremeteam or someone else i know gets on here and starts laughing at you)
Oh no worries if it were someone else I would flame them just virtuous. Although if I had known it was still closed source I wouldn't have asked because I thought when 3.1 hit they were going open source.
This is the first I have heard of apple going open source with their iphone os. If that is true then I guess it could possibly done though I wouldn't expect anything anytime soon
Apple go open sourced, hell hasn't froze over yet but I did see a pig fly earlier, but it didn't have wings and we turn around and........**** I am gonna incrimate myself if I say anything fruther.
Know onto david's request:
If you would like icrap's os, I am writing a guide soon on how to brick your phone, I could send a copy to you for only 4 payments of 18.95, limited time offer though. Once you follow my guide than you can go buy a ipone and have the os all you want.
Good night now, it's 7 in the morning and I was woken up for some stupid ass side work as captain save a ho ****, that ain't happening again.
So I am out of commision for a few hours, I hope I don't miss too much
Anybody that would be able to port it over are to content with your android to port it, but it is very safe to say that if it did, the green guy might come out and try to kill us all, or at least self destuct the g1 for be defiled, uh I just got shivers just thinking about it.

Whats up david, I know I've been a lazy bastard and haven't done anything yet but I promise I'm going to get to it. I'm free this whole weekend so this might be my time to shine.
Get at me GridLock let me know how it went.

The only thing 3.1 did was send the devs back to the JailBreaking workbench. Apparently they aren't sure how to JB 3.1 which I would call the exact opposite of going open source.
If i see one more damn i**** port request for android, i going to make the worlds most devastating trojan that will infect every apple product even the shuffle. People wake up and smell the open sorce goodness
Hey don't attack my shuffle, that thing is great for working out, wait I use linux to load up my music, so I got no need to worry
shuffles are a wat of plastic. and wtf is up with the new nano having a camera
Wtf..... they got a camera, hope in breaks in seconds

yea its a cheapo little POS. i will never understand apple, they give the smallest ipod a camera and leave ipodtouch users without it.... weird... i guess i do understand it. its a plot to make money... greedy little basterds
hate it or love it apple is good at what they do. something to ponder is if android become as ubber cool to everyone and they mama would we find new phones and **** talk everyone for using droid?
we did it glock, we mufuckin got a thread closed. run smack yo mama, get ahold of supreme tell him the good news. we official now lol.
I got android for that fact that is was linux based, not because of the style or specs but for the os. I am not one to try and fit in
yea i was just making a statement, i mean really the iphone/ipod touch os is linux/unix based yoiu know? but i dont wanna get into the apple bs anyway im celebrating, we closed a thread, drink somethin off the top shelf tonight.
It got closed right as I was gonna tell you that david forgot to add it in the guide but I have read on some dodgey sites that if you have previously bricked a g1 than it is to counteract the breaking of a mirror by a bowling ball at the bottom of a lake
Codani, this is our second thread closed, remember g1bicked's g1 f$#%ed up thread
Not tonight I have a feeling I will be moonlighting as captain save-a-hoe tonight plus it's raining, gonna try to make it a quiet night, but tomorrow, tomorrow night I am getting hammered
I musta missed the closing of said thread.

Kinda subjective... Obvious choice is Cyanogen. Why even ask?
hey i was right, as soon as i posted my post it was move
who do i trust me, myself and i
who do i distrust everyone
but i support the works of cy, twisted, jac, maxisma and all the honest devs around here
i distrust drizzy though and will never touch anything of his now
Cyanogen is winning the vote, but this isn't to make one out to be better than the other, because they all do different stuff. But there is something to be said about how it is done. In a free market, everyone chooses based upon their own set of criteria.
I trust me and that creepy guy that keeps looking at me when im not looking...
<--- Yeah thats him right there.
This thread is stupid. You said this thread isnt meant to bash on the devs, but your basically doing that with the polls. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the devs mentioned above sees the result and decides to leave xda for good because of crap like this. I seriously see no point in this thread except to put these people in the spotlight. Come on folks, common sense is your friend when it comes to trust.
Lets make a thread about Jaaronpardy or w/e the OP name is, lets put up a poll to see who thinks this guy thread is garbage or not. Seriously tho, who gives a F**K? if the devs above contributes and makes nice roms then hooray!the community is happy, but what the f**k trust got to do with anything? Fail thread is FAIL!

Yeah, its a question based on opinion of individuals... AKA ...subjective lol, and he asked just so that the community can have a reference for new members, etc, w/e... and no cyanogen may not be obvious to all..
that all aside, lol, i trust cyanogen (myself only for cupcake/donut of course) and kingklick for hero, but MLIGN and maxisma and drizzy all make contributions of what they personally like in a phone also, so really, the best thing for everyone to do would be to make individual custom roms like moto modding is with monster packs lol

seriously man, its getting up to here --- lol i could use some "stress" relief (oh and, btw i like this thread , just an fyi lmao)
a good thread to be up right now.
Today, I saw some of the most ridiculous, immature, stupid asinine talk from people that are supposed to have I.Q's above their pants sizes that I have ever seen.
Using ebonics to try and explain how they arent stupid..... calling people names while having NO CLUE what they are talking about.
A guy who thought it was funny because he tried to rip some kids phone off and got caught.
How much attention does one guy need to beg for?
I came here thinking that there would be at least a tiny bit more respect for people then places like PSP and Xbox mod sites where retarded kids run rampant, then I see that all this place mostly is, is people stealing others work and taking credit.. then blaming the persons wok they took.
The first rom I ever used was Drizzys blur....... After seeing the way he talks to people, the way he treats people... hell just the way he types has made me loose any respect I may have had.
I have no clue how roms are made. I would never attempt to make one. But, being as how NO DEVELOPER here actually makes any of these roms makes it the more ridiculous.
You take an image from a phone, and change things around and name it. All these guys do is take someone elses work and slap crap all over it, change some stuff up and call it their own. How about I take windows XP, make 1 wallpaper, change the page file settings and put a bunch of crappy icons and name it "windows crypy xtreme". Sounds retarded doesnt it? Well thats all these guys do.
Ive seen some of the dumbest arguments I have ever seen in my 28 years, on this site between people who are supposed to have half a brain.
There is only so many times I can see "er'ything, dis, dat"... I mean, is it that hard to add that extra correct letter into your english when trying to prove your intelligence? how can you argue with someone when you didnt even make it far enough through school to know how to talk to other humans?
Oh well.... Ive learned enough here in my few weeks to now know what im doing when searching for a rom. I dont care about whos name is on it.
All these roms were leaked, stolen or dumped at some point in time to where anyone with the right knowledge can make their own. Its just sad when some "kids" are some full of themselves they just beg for the attention they can get whether it be good or extremely bad. That shows me that maybe mommy and daddy dont love them very much.... or are just dumber then dirt with crap in it.
After the arguments I saw here today, trying to justify ripping people off for having trust, whining about who stole what first and who is better at altering said stolen content... I think this place is a joke.
It may have been good at 1 point in time, but when you get a bunch of attention starved idiots into a room together, of which some have serious personality issues, it just turns into a big heaping steaming pile of poo.
HEll, I dont even know who deserves credit for what now because this place is so full of BS.
I... Just... its insane really.
Sorry for this rant, but after hours of reading complete and utter retardation all day today and loosing many an I.Q point for reading, I thought this was the only appropriate thread for said rant.
The real question here is, all these guys use STOLEN software, how can you trust any of them?
I dont trust anyone I dont know personally, and Ive made it this far in life. Some of you that are still under 20, trying to act like you are god because you slap a bunch of files together is just... well DUMB.
I mean really.... some of you are supposed to be smart software wise..... How did you get so stupid in every other aspect of life?

Need a few opinions: Letter to someone I care for and hurt

Ok folks, I don't frequently ask for advice in matters of the heart or personal stuff. Typically I confine myself to the realm of IT and phones. But awhile back when I was still whacked out over my Ex, I hurt someone I cared for greatly. It's been tough making things work out but I decided to lay everything on the line and I am mailing the following letter to her in hopes of things working out. Any input especially from the fairer sex (if there be any here :laugh would be appreciated. Any thoughts folks?
Redacted
,
There’s a great deal of things I would like to say to you. Many would most likely just be a rehash of things I have said before. I don’t believe though that anything I ever say from this moment on would be sufficient to change the way things are right now. I know I have tried time and time again to express my sincere regret for my actions. I did something terrible to you. It wasn’t getting you sick, it wasn’t making you feel used, and it wasn’t being a real jerk to you. It was turning my back on you. I walked away when I should have stayed and stood by you. I truly regret my actions and if I could, I would take them back and do things differently. I would have stayed by your side. I would have shown you that I was a good man and that I truly do care for you.
I’ve said this before and I do mean it, I have always felt something for you. Ever since we were children a part of me has been in love with you. Not just because I think you are beautiful, but because of who you are. I’ve always loved the way you carried yourself, the way you moved, the way you sat, everything. It wasn’t until we were adults that I realized behind the beauty and grace was a mind that was as wonderful as the rest of you. You are an amazing woman whom anyone would be lucky to have in their life.
When I changed my status and you messaged me, we talked and ended up admitting truths. When you accepted my offer for a date, I was elated. How often does the woman of your dreams, the one you’ve had a crush on your entire life, the one you always imagined asking out, actually pay attention to you and says yes to a date with you? When we went out, I thought I was over the past and I was wrong. I didn’t mean to hurt you the way I did.
The worst thing for me is being alone. Not necessarily being alone, but being alone in my thoughts. When I’m alone, I have nothing to distract me from my thoughts. I’ve had time to evaluate my actions, my decisions, and my life. I see a great many mistakes I have made in my life. Many of them I cringe at knowing I did or said those things. I look back at turning my back on you and I want to just berate myself and kick myself over and over again for what I did. I was a fool for doing that. You deserved better than my actions and I have no excuse for what I did. Regardless of my mindset or my thoughts at the time, you deserved someone who would be there especially when he caused it. I wasn’t.
Since then, I have wanted nothing more than to make it up to you. To show you I am the man you deserve. I’ve wanted nothing more than to deserve you. I know I’ve made a royal mess of my life due to my actions and have damaged yours as well. You were doing great and while you may have wanted more in life and would have eventually attained that goal, I set you back. I don’t know how far and I hope it’s not nearly as far as I believe it to be. I believe you deserve the best in life. I believe we all do. I don’t know if I am what’s best for you, but I know that for me, settling for anyone other than you would be a grave mistake on my part. I would be a true fool to not try and show you I am a good man and I deserve a second chance.
I’ve tried calling you a fair amount lately, as well as texting you. You haven’t answered my phone calls and lately haven’t answered a single text. I can’t say I blame you for not talking to me all things considered. I’ve been terrible to you and haven’t been the person you need in your life. I want to be that man but I don’t know if you can ever let go of the past and the distrust. I don’t know if you can ever truly trust me again. That in itself is a shame as I am a good man and would be willing to do just about anything to ensure your well being and your happiness. Once committed to something, I am determined to see it through. Perhaps you think I should be committed for being this way, but it’s who I am. It takes something major to change my mind about things. I think you know that by now.
I know that between not working and with the medical issues you’ve mentioned that you might be unsure of things. I know that you’ve said you don’t believe I can make decisions that take you into consideration. I want you to know that even knowing that you have problems medically, that if things are as bad as you fear, that you may not be around for as long as you would like to be, I am still here and I won’t walk away just because things are difficult again. I did once and I learned a valuable lesson from doing so. I learned what was worth fighting for and what wasn’t. I want to be there for you. I want to show you the support you deserve and be there for you when you want and need me. I already am even though you may not want me to be.
You agreed with me once that if I had not been a fool and been the man a woman like you deserves, we both may have been happy together right now. Despite all the bad, we would have been together and together we would have worked towards something great.
There’s a saying, one that I agree with, “Nothing good in life is ever easy.” I believe that the best things in life are worth fighting for. I believe that you are worth it. That despite where I may stand in your eyes or in your heart, I believe trying is the right thing to do. I may be wrong but without your input, I don’t know to stop.
I am not asking you to jump into anything with me. I would like for you to, but I can wait a bit for that. What I am asking is that we start over and that you let me prove to you that I am worth a second chance. I want to prove to you that I am the man you deserve, one that will always be there for you. I’d like to pick up things where we left off, but I don’t believe that’s an option anymore. I’m willing to start anywhere you think we should just so that one day I can rebuild the trust I shattered and one day we can have a relationship that puts others to shame.
I want to be more to you than a bad decision easily forgotten. I believe I deserve better than that and I believe that I can be the absolute best choice you’ve ever made.
You once said that I should focus on rebuilding my life. You said that I should fix my life before trying to start a relationship with you. I am working towards that every day. I have good and bad days but overall, things are moving in the right direction. I believe though that when I am not working or able to work towards my goals, the free time I have so to speak, that those times are when I should work on rebuilding your trust and our friendship, that those times should be spent with you.
I am going to rebuild my life better than before. I want that life to include you, to be there for you and you for me. I would like for us to be together for as long as we have on this earth. I would ask for the next life too, but I don’t want to seem too eager or greedy. I know things don’t always work out as planned and that all of this may be wishful thinking, but I truly believe that we were in each other’s paths again after so long a time apart for a reason. I do not believe though that our paths should diverge just yet. I believe that there is more for us here and that we should pursue it. I hope that deep down you feel the same way. I hope that somewhere deep inside is the desire to see things work out and for us to have a chance together even after everything that I caused.
I’ve made mistakes in my life before. I’ve made a great many of them, but none as great or none I regret more than hurting you and breaking your trust. I want you to know I will spend the rest of my life and do anything I have to in order to earn back your trust and friendship, to earn back the look in your eyes when you looked into mine, the right to hold your hand in mine again, to hold you close and say the things that matter in life.
I want to try again. I want to be the man for you. Will you let me be that man?
Sincerely,
Darrell
You sound like a young man. Take some advice from a 33 yr old that has walked many paths and who has loved and lost. As cliche as it sounds, its true, if its ment to be, it will happen. Explaining to her how you hurt and and how much you love her will not make her comeback. The heart wants what it wants. I know the pain at time seems unbearable at times and the obsesive thoughts seem to never to stop, but in time, the pain starts to recede, the thoughts slowly die down. Concentrate on yourself for now, stay away from alcohol, and live one day at a time. In time, you will find that special someone, and she will be nothing but a memory.
Man I hate to tell you but I hope the kids in OT don't have a hay day with this. It's a legitimate request. If things get to outta hand, hit me up with a PM. I've been down this road and it's not an easy one. If you want advice, shoot me a message. Best of luck to ya man!!

O rly!? :what: Me and you have lived very diffrent lives.

Some parts of it seemed long and repetitive.
I think you can cut it shorter but still say what you want to say.
If she hasn't replied your texts or returned your phone calls, a letter this long may be thrown out immediately.
Just my 2 cents.

I've been lucky. Up until recently I should say. I love freely and end up getting hurt a lot. We are the sum of our life experiences.

That's all I need to read to tell you that you need to move on. Sorry, but it's true. Just the fact that you're asking her if you can "be that man" just says a lot.
I believe I deserve better than that

Prove it. Go out there and find somebody better. After all, you do deserve it.
Ooooohhhhhh k, now that I've re-read it, I gotta take back what I said. Dude, you can't put yourself out there like that. You might as well be the weird stalker guy that watches her go to the grocery store. You gotta move on man. Swallow what little bit of pride you have and keep on going.
A wise man once told me, the only way to get over one girl is to get under another.

'I am not asking you to jump into anything with me. I would like for you to, but I can wait a bit for that.'
you shouldn't write 'i can wait a bit'...
it sounds like 'yeah if you don't get laid by me next week, i'll search for another one'...
just write 'i can wait'
PS: good luck to you man!
Okay, I'm writing this in Notepad as I read what you wrote.
First paragraph, I'd trim this down. A lot of it is shooting yourself in the foot is going on here if your goal in this is to try to win her back.
"I turned my back on you. I walked away when I should have stayed and stood by you. I truly regret my actions. I wish I'd had the sense to stay by your side - I wish I could have been a better man."
Second paragraph, I'd cut this entirely, at least this early on.
Third paragraph : "You deserved better". You could attach this to the first at this point. A lot of this feels like a guilt trip for her when you're claiming you've hurt her. Don't tell her why YOU are needy and need her - why should she care (even if she does) ?
Fourth paragraph, same as second. This feels kind of random and unnecessary at this point.
Fifth paragraph. Okay. I don't know the situation, so that makes this really hard. But I wouldn't say in your letter that you DESERVE a second chance. Don't put this on her like she somehow needs to do you a favour. " I know I’ve made a royal mess of my life due to my actions and have damaged yours as well. You were doing great and while you may have wanted more in life and would have eventually attained that goal, I set you back. I don’t know how far, but I hope you're still able to attain all you wanted*" (*I don't know the situation, so I don't know how much she can expect ?) Tell her how you can HELP her attain whatever it is you set her back from, even if you can't directly.
Sixth paragraph. This whole letter is really vague so far - have you edited it for the internet ? If not, I'd be more specific. "I don't know if you can ever trust me again, that I understand". She knows she's been ignoring you - you don't have to tell HER that.
Seventh. "I wish I had been good enough to not have to hurt you in the process of learning what was worth living and fighting for". Somethingn like that.
Eight. You've basically said this before. Stop dwelling on it - it happened. What can you do to at least tell her in words that you're comitted to making a CHANGE ? What would you do in the FUTURE with her if you got back together at this point ? What would you do for HER ?
Nine. "Starting over" is not what you want. If you started over, well, you'd end up in the same place, right ? You need to express that you've learned and that that is always with you - that you're not going to mentally "start over".
Ten. Okay, what progress HAVE you made ? Can you tell her about THAT ? What can you do to make progress with her ? What would you like to do if you were to start "slow" ?
Eleven and Tweleve. I'm not going to comment on these, specifically.
Okay, so.
If I was reading this, I would feel you're too focused on NEEDING her and it's a lot of words, words, words - but no action. It's all talk and not much substance to actually mean something to someone who's been hurt. Address what you did. Address what you would DO. Address HOW you've changed, what you're doing. Let her know specifics about what you're doing to improve your life and yourself. Let her know HOW you can help her, what are you willing to do ? How can you support her ?
I'm not here to comment on if this is the right thing to do or if you need to move on. Maybe you do - I don't know. I don't know you or the situation. I'm just reading this, trying to think about if I'd been sent it.
I'm reading a whole lot of "I WANT you in MY life" - but no really good reasons why she should want to be in yours. Why should she ? ... SHOULD she ? If it really would be good for her, why ? Don't tell her that she needs to "fight" for this with you - if she's the one who's been hurt, why should she have to struggle any more ? Show her that you've changed and advanced enough that it wouldn't need to be something difficult.
Don't take this too personally. I don't know you, I don't know her - I don't know what happened. I can't tell you the best 'advice' possible without that.
Beware rebounds. If you haven't fixed your **** before trying to move on, you'll invariably **** up again and probably make the same sort of mistakes - or hey, maybe even all new ones. Figure your **** out - it's what this girl you're writing to wants to see - and it's what any girl who isn't going to be another couple broken hearts is going to want to see. It's old, but it's true - you can't expect to find someone to fully love and commit to you if you're not even fully what you want from yourself.
I tried. :good:
^ Great suggestions.
To OP, I read the whole thing. Twice. You're truly expressing yourself, but you don't need to keep reminding her what happened. She KNOWS what happened. And I would even say she dwells on it. So saying stuff like 'I turned my back on you" wouldn't really help. Being self critical is fine, but I found it to be slightly overkill.
And, in the whole letter, I kept searching for the world "sorry". You haven't said sorry even once. You NEED to tell her your sorry. She NEEDS to know that. You need to actually apologize to her instead of saying that you are unworthy.
If you really think she's the one, go pursue her, and don't let up.
I'm much younger than you, but I hope my advice helps.
Best of luck, mate.
So I read your letter and I can see that you're very troubled with the situation. A lot of people here have given you great advice, I'd really consider not shooting yourself in the foot like the person above stated.
My main concern is the letter seems more about you feeling bad and wanting to make things right rather than actually apologize and let the chips fall where they may, again like the person above stated.
My two cents, take out at least half of your "I"s . Don't beat yourself up especially in a letter to her as that won't inspire confidence in you as a man. Straight up, be a man; apologize for whatever happened, tell her what you feel, and then give her space. Sucks but other than that you'll suffocate her.
Hope all goes well man.

We are not easy to please

I only joined XDA in October. I use it a lot though due to an unswerving flash addiction.
I see this kind of message a lot in rom threads: 'Hello! I love your rom! It's by far the fastest I've used on XDA. The thing is, the clock is 0.0000000000000000000000000001% off center, and until this bug is sorted out I can't use your rom as my daily driver.'
Are we all getting too picky? It's a bit like saying 'well, thank you for the offer of a free Ferrari, but I don't like the color of the cigarette lighter so for now I'll carry on walking to work.'
Have you ever worked Retail before?
You get tons of people who like what you have to offer and appreciate it so they keep coming back, then you have the people who think the world should revolve around them. The people who believe you owe them something for no apparent reason and the people who like to complain just to complain. They are the ones who sometimes try to act nice but complain over the smallest things and try to pull a fast one on you.You really have to either have patience with them or just completely ignore them because they think you have nothing better to do than to serve their needs/wants. But don't let them take advantage of your hard work and dedication to what you do.
Don't let that evil person make you lose composure, just remain cool and remember all the other people who thanked you for your work and appreciate you doing it for them.
Those people who complain over the little things on a rom complain about everything in their life, and are never satisfied with the way things are going, and are too much of a hassle to please as all they will do is complain some more. Eventually they will just goto another rom and complain there as well.

Nice analogy, especially has I've worked in retail most of my life. I sometimes feel that the ROM and kernel devs deserve a bit more than the demands they receive. Another favourite of mine is when I'll be reading a thread and someone will randomly say 'no good, no immersive' and nothing else.
Then again, I've barely been here 5 minutes!

But on the other hand they are using commercial software they have to pay for which is full of bugs and where they are used as beta-testers for the first releases...
But I have to confess, that Microsoft improved over the last couple of years compared to let's say, ehm, windows ME
It only gets worse from here. I hate to say this, and I don't mean to tar everyone with the same brush, but compared to iOS and WP users, Android users are some of the most egotistical, demanding, self-entitled, and utterly immature tech audiences out there, and a lot of users on XDA are even more-so. Most don't give a rat's ass how the development pattern goes, what XDA is for, or the fact that no one is being paid to contribute (there's also a special kind of full-retard XDA user that thinks donations are some sort of contractual payment).
You won't get anywhere trying to reason with these people, as they don't think they're doing anything wrong. It's a losing battle, let them be, and if you really want to, drop your favorite dev at least a thank-you note (if not a donation) in his XDA inbox, letting him/her know you personally appreciate the work being given to you at no cost on someone else's free time.
The longer you spend here, the more you'll be able to split the idiot users from the users who have true respect for this place.
That's another small reason I'm still on the stock ROM. I had to root and found a few tweaks to fix a few legit problems and awesome mods and I'm happy. But I really needed a stable well running phone and got one that I can easily tweak no problem.

OP, this is an example of a post to not bother responding to. All it takes is to look at his posting history; "dicecuber" spends most of his time either criticizing the Nexus 5, or posting completely irrelevant "questions" in threads that have nothing to do with them (i.e., he asked in the Nexus 5 Singapore thread "can you chew gum in Singapore").
People that respond to this sort of post only enable it to keep happening.

And you complain about people who complain, if no one complained about anything what a terrible world it would be.
My motto is nothing happens if you don't ask. You don't have to be rude while asking, but if there is something bothering you, speak up. I don't see a problem with trying to perfect your experience. Say I use ROM X, but there's a certain feature in ROM Y that I love. Asking ROM X to include the feature from ROM Y isn't the end of the world. At the very least you'll get a no which may or may not come with an explanation as to why.
I don't believe never being satisfied is a negative. I believe it helps you strive for more which in turns helps you progress. I may be happy, but I'm not satisfied. For me, being satisfied means to accept things as they are and no longer push forward. I'm not saying being satisfied is a bad thing, rather I believe both being satisfied and not being satisfied are both good. Everyone ticks at their own pace, no need for us to all conform.
As for your example, everyone is different. Some people have OCD, through no fault of their own. Something as small as the clock being off centre can throw people off. As long as they aren't being rude, I see no problem in them pointing it out. Regardless of how insignificant the issue may be for you personally, the fact remains it is an issue. Bugs can't be fixed if no one reports them.

I agree. I don't know if people do this anymore but the bounty threads always end in drama. Users think a donation is more than that; a legal binding financial commitment. So when a dev doesn't come through they rage or threaten. They forget the definition of donations.

You are not alone with those thoughts.
Over the years XDA has grown from a site made up of just developers, to a site comprised of more users than developers.
With the increase in users comes more non-development posts.
It is a balancing act to keep XDA focused on development and the non-development chatter to a minimum.
I am no going to close this thread.
If anyone has any questions or comments please PM me.

Bewildered beginner here to learn from the winners...

I wish I could list even one awesome coding skill to contribute to XDA, but the truth is the other way around - it's the developers here who've been contributing to me for the past several years as I've struggled to navigate the ever-winding road of Android. I came here completely green, not a single line of code to call mine, and had to look up every other word in the posts, only to have to look up the words in the definitions as well.
I remember that time very well, as I was armed with the new Nexus 5 Hammerhead running KitKat 4.4.4, and all I wanted to do more than anything in the world was this really cool thing I'd heard about called 'rooting.' Didn't even know what I could do with a rooted phone back then, especially since it was my very first smartphone. And somehow, some way, with the help of the posts here on XDA, I managed to gain root privileges on my first try. Bragging rights? Nah. Not until it's revealed that it only took me 3 weeks of delving my phone's deepest corners before finally discovering this amazing secret where anything I deleted instead got doubled, which allowed me to finally achieve the world record of filling up a phone's memory with useless data faster than The Competitor could get hit with planned obsolescence lawsuits. Now that's fast, indeed.
On a more serious note, there has actually been one question I've seen posted recently that I realized I could have easily helped someone with, had I an account here. Thus, what you see before you. Of course it will probably turn out to be the only question I'll come across here that I can answer, but someone needs me the way I've needed you and if I could help even just one person, then here I go...

Nice intro!
welcome to XDA
Thank you, I mean it. (Bashfully looks down, hands clasped behind back, toeing ground...) This is the first time in my life I've ever signed up to be a part of something bigger than myself, there isn't a lot out there that can really keep drawing me back, time and time again. Now if I can just find that Thanks button I just read about, I won't have to take up so much space on the servers each time I want to show my gratitude.....

You actually made me laugh out loud with that one. Thanks I needed that! I'll certainly consider hitting you up the next time I need help, which is, on average, every 6.2 seconds. Now if that lady does ever figure out how to hdmi a pdf, she would be a Jedi Master, indeed, and we may both end up learning at her feet. Thanks again and likewise if you want to holler and maybe learn how to brick any device at all, I'm available. Brick master extraordinaire, that's me.

The phone I'm using right now is an unrooted Motorola One 5G Ace, and it's lightning fast. But that's about where any good review ends for me. I should root it, but my screen is so cracked I may as well get a new phone.
However! I am the proud owner of a fully rooted Motorola e4 Plus, as well as a fully rooted Samsung Galaxy S5 - the AT&T kind, which is the only version that's untouchable by Developer Geohot's brainchild, Towel Root. (By the way, excellent work on that, Geohot. You are a legend among my circle.)
So, in short, I've got 2 rooted phones, neither with service, but still fun to poke around the older OS versions and see what's under the hood.
I'm tempted to grab a Galaxy S22 Ultra, but only if it's rootable, Samsung being synonymous with bloatware/trashware/dataware.
What kind of phone are you yourself working with?
