Tmobile v40 Pie update in testing phase - LG V40 Guides, News, & Discussion

As long last...
htqtps://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-39251

Its quite strange that still not even Pie beta update was released in Korea

Maybe T-Mobile give pie before Korea to users.

What’s the point..
The third beta for the Android 10 Q is now available, with the final release expected in August.

I have a Verizon V40 and just got the Pie update today. I am in the US. Have to enjoy it since it will be the only update this phone sees! I am using a 3rd party launcher, so my phone looks no different. But, I can say I got Pie!!

Request for At&t manual of 9.0 Kdz Update for V40
Hello. Can anyone please ptovie me the Kdz file of 9.0 Pie update for Lg V40 thinq At&t. I'm not living in US. And the phone is Carrier unlocked and due to not having At&t signals om my phone or registration i was unable to get 9.0 Pie Update OTA. And want to manually update my phone.
My phone model is LM V405UA
Software version is V405UA10d
And want the V405UA20d 9.0 kdz file.
I'm new and don't no about rules or forum. Sorry if i done anything wrong.
Reguards & Thanks in Advance

Just got the Pie update for T-Mobile last night. So far no problems.

Anyone else having a harder time swiping their notifications down? I notice a lot of the times it will drag down a bit then bounce back to the top so I have to try and swipe it slowly and deliberately to make sure it pulls down sometimes. Never had this issue before the Pie update. Not a huge bug but pretty annoying and it happens at least once or twice a day.

No, we need to wait for the U1 update to be released witch has typically been the last to be released. I believe these are the U versions being referred to here. Also everything new on Sammobile is the U so far. It shouldn't much longer for us.

I'm using it on project fi and no December update yet either.
I also have U1 version.

I may not update until my Bixby Button and Navbar App's are updated!

Have not receives any updates since November update too on Sprint using unlocked model. It seems either Sprint or unlocked version always receives the updates last in the US.

Got mine today too. I thought it was Android Pie because it was being moved up for January, but damn it was moved back again.

I ended up using the firmware.science to update to pie. That bumped me up to December update automatically on pie. I also get to keep the Unlocked firmware without any bloatware and the rom is rocksolid stable.

After reading from users how the pie update takes away functionality and is full of bugs, I'm fine with them delaying the rollout.

T-mobile Note 9 - Anyone got Pie yet?

Looking to see if anyone on T-mobile has Android Pie 9.0 yet, the official download. That, or does anyone know when it'll come?

Nope. Probably within the next month I hope.
In the US, officially not yet. I think Verizon was the first one to update the Note 8 to Android 8... I'm not sure how quickly T-MOBILE updated their phones

Just for reference, the Note 8 on T-Mobile didn't get a stable build until May '18 (April '18 version got pulled, buggy).
https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-36189
Since the Pie update isn't even on T-Mo's radar yet,I'm guessing we're looking at an equally long wait:

(Xfinity Mobile) Note 9

I've noticed that a couple of the carriers are rolling out different firmware versions. CSAA and CSAB for the Pie Updates. Anyone on XFinity that got the official OTA Pie update that can tell me if its CSAA or CSAB please? I don't want to miss future OTAs because my firmware isnt correct. I'm running the update.zip CSAA universal leaked update. If I need to be on CSAB I gotta get to flashing back to Oreo and taking the OTA.

To be honest I'm not exactly sure where I saw it. It appeared to be TMO or Verizon but it wasn't really clear(I was skimming). Pretty sure it was from one of the other Android specific forums, don't wanna name names here. The article said they were adding a feature other carriers were not yet. The SS they had, had CSAB for Firmware Version. If it was Verizon I may need the same firmware as XFinity Phones are always the same firmware as Verizon.
In my catching up on Android stuff today I see about the one firmware across all the carriers tho. That should be awesome. All the dev's can work on it all together instead of being locked to working on their carriers version. Should make for good ROMs and amazing themes. And make for much faster updates from Samsung. Hopefully Treble gets them on track.
If I find that darn article again I'll send you the link but its MIA. I cant find it anywhere but I know I saw it. It was in my Google Feed which has as many Android news sources as I can pack in to it.

You sure it wasn't referring to the S9/+? Because all the carriers released CSAB for those devices. I would be shocked if T-Mo and Verizon released a different build than ATT and Sprint for the Note 9. It defeats the purpose of the carrier switching firmware.

Try using smart switch app on PC and phone when connected it should search for latest update out for your model, ie , if its available and your provider does not send out

You should be able to still receive the OTA update for your device regardless of your location. I am currently using the Korean variant N950N in Hong Kong and I am able to get the OTA OS updates for my device.

That shouldn't matter. As my N950N is a LG U+ branded unit and I have a HK SIM card in it. I can still get OTA updates without any issues.
So i should wait ?

Unfortunately it DOES matter on the US variants. If he doesn't have a US SIM in it, then he won't get the OTAs.

If you update you will lose many great things that's the note 8 had .imo the note 8 is not built to run on one ui.i bet you regret it if you update.i had to roll back from the update to oreo and it was a nightmare using Odin as I'm not technical and am terrible with computers.just really happy my note 8 is back to normal oreo performs amazing on note 8 and looks good .one hi looks trash with the new layout

Apples and oranges. The N950U1 is the factory unlocked u branded version and updates are controlled by Samsung. The OP has a Sprint branded N950U, and OTAs would be pushed by Sprint.
Try downloading Samsung Kies onto your computer. Connect your device to your PC and use that to update the OS on your device.
The OP could just flash the N950U1 firmware to his device then he would likely get the OTA updates. But he won't on the N950U. They are the same exact device hardware-wise, just different firmware.

That's why I said the OP could just flash the U1 firmware and get updates. As long as he's on the carrier branded firmware he won't get them.
Thank you for the confirmation that U1 works out of the US with a foreign SIM!
So I find this interesting, I have a N950U1 with 8.0 on it and I have been getting security updates. But I haven't received the 9.0 update. I am in the US on the Sprint network. Now I did buy the phone as a referb through an Amazon re seller, is there something else that I would need to check to see why I am not seeing the 9.0 update?
This is my first go around with an unlocked phone so this is a some new territory for me.

Sprint V405UA to Korea Android 10 rom?

Hi,
Have heard of reports of people getting Android 10 via crossflashing to the Korean unlocked rom, but heard of possible caveats. Are there special steps to take? Besides loss of possible LTE USA bands in the firmware, anything dangerous about crossflashing to this
V409NO30b_00_OPEN_KR_OP_0515
firmware?
Thanks so much
Hello,
I have the same question. I'm tired of waiting Sprint for Android 10. Does it work with this Korean rom ? There is any step to be careful ? Thank you !
EDIT : if there is a Verizon Rom that work with Android 10, please let me know were to download it, i don't find it on lg-firmwares.com
Hello Phantafun/fireblade20, i have the sprint model. And i download the V405UA20A Verizon firmware from lg fan club and as soon as i booted the phone it requested me to update to Android 10, note i do not have a Verizon sim. I did not like the bloatware so i went for the Korean version V409NUA30d BEST DECISION EVER, nothing wrong, did not loose the network bands, plus the Korean version gets monthly updates.
Thanks a lot for the feedback ! I try it if as soon as I can get rid of the error 0x6004 CrossDl :/

sure ... because the korean version is 128 gb, memory, rom?
So, can anyone confirm that v405ua can be crossflashed with korean firmware?
I cannot flash the Korean rom (a new error code), but I finally get rid of the error code 0x6004 : i change the LGUP_Common.dll for another one found on another topic.
I'm on Verizon rom, it's really great : I can now desactivate the bloatware unlike the sprint Roms that lock this option.
I'm not clear on this. Is there a an android 10 ROM I can safely flash on a Sprint version?

If you have an error code, you should try with other LG V40 DDL that you can find on Google or other topic on XDA.
