accessibility menu replaces gestures and hardware buttons. - Motorola One Power Guides, News, & Discussion

In settings you can turn on accessibility menu and after that you will able to take screenshots, power off ,lock screen (some other features also) without using any buttons. I don't know whether you familiar with it or not but it's really good.
https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/...lity-menu-replaces-gestures-hardware-buttons/

I love this accessibility menu but an annoying thing is, if i turn on accessibility an irritating ( X ) mark will appear on YouTube Play screen.
How to use accessibility without this "X" mark appearance on YouTube....??

Lockscreen Doesn't Lock...

Hello all,
Was wondering if anyone is having the same issue as I am. My lock screen doesn't seem to actually lock the phone.. i.e. if you press an app without sliding it up, it just opens. The lock icon, however, is still displayed. My lock screen style is set to productivity, and that still all works, and I have no security set up. It's worth noting that it was working with no issues up until a day ago, and nothing has changed :/
For further clarification:
By not working, I mean that before I used to have to slide the tab up, or to launch an app I would have to drag it up, but now that doesn't work.
Here's a video showing what I mean:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bclXBQwqXa0&feature=youtu.be
This just started happening to my AT&T HTC One tonight! I found this post by doing a search to see if anyone else had experienced this same issue on their One.
Also I can no longer drag the icons at the bottom of my lockscreen up to get into that particular app. And pressing anywhere on the lockscreen seems to unlock the phone and take me to the desktop.
I'm using the "music lockscreen" style, fyi.

I just figured out what was causing it on mine... I actually received my Pebble smartwatch in the mail today and had installed the Pebble Android app onto my One. This also required going into the Settings on my One and enabling Accessibility for the Pebble and Pebble Notifier and these 2 accessibility settings were what was causing the lockscreen to behave this way.
Don't see anyway to get around it so far...

Wow aha actually I did install the pebble app just before it started happening.. I wonder if it's a problem on pebble's side or htc... good catch though!
Yeah, not sure of that either. I just wondered and posted about this myself in another XDA thread I found on this very same topic:

I have got this on my HTC one, I have come from an iphone and wanted to have the screen turn on when any emails are received. These show up on the lockscreen so when I'm driving if I get an email the screen turns on.
I can use several apps to do this but they all require to be enabled in Accessibility, if I do that the lockscreen unlocks when its touched anywhere as mentioned earlier without swiping. If I disable the accessibility setting its all back to normal but the app doesnt work....ie. the screen doesn't come on.
Any one figured this out yet?

I found a work around for it. It requires root access, Tasker and Secure Settings.
What I did was create a Context that is activated when the display is on and then using Secure Settings, disable all Accessibility for all events. As an exit task, I re-enable all my accessibility apps.
Now when i turn on my display, I actually have to slide to unlock.

Sound interesting, :good:

Under the profiles tab
Press the + icon in the botton right corner
Select State
Select Display
Select Display State
Change "Is Off" to "Is On"
Press the back button
You should have a popup of available Tasks (if you have any)
Select New Task +
[Optional] Give it a name
You need to do the following section as many times as you have Acessibility services
***********************************************
Press the + icon in the lower middle screen
Select Plugin
Select Secure Settings
Press the Edit button
Select Accessibility Services
Select a service, and make sure is disabled (by default it will be)
Press the save icon in the lower left
Press back
************************************************************
Repeat the previous section as needed
When you are done creating your task, press the back button
You should be back at your main profile screen.
Long press the green arrow of the task you just created
Select Add Exit Task
Repeat the *********** section but save the accessiblity services as "Is Off" for all your services.
Tasker has a bit of a learning curve, and hopefully this will get you started.

Efox29. That works very well.. Thanks again for the advice.
I've got this set up as well but for me it is extremely hit and miss. Nearly 50% of the time I still get the single touch unlock and the other half of the time tasker works perfectly. The only thing I can think of is that my pin unlock causes a problem but why only half the time.
Anyone else have this problem?
I suppose I should be happy my problem has been cut in half but I wish it was completely consistent.

It's not ideal but works ok, for me it's better than nothing.
M.
Actually having used this tasker solution for a few days now it works about 75% of the time and seems more reliable if the screen has been off for a while vs reactivating the screen very soon after turning off. Still sometimes I get the one touch unlock after the screen being locked for hours. On the whole the accessibility problem still really annoys me but I agree this solution is better than nothing and so far I haven't had any more accidental call answers.

has anyone noticed that another issue with this accessibility bug is that the screen will flicker or flash black for a split second after unlocking? again, this only happens after you turn on accessibility for an app.

[Q] Couple gripes coming from note 3

Hopefully someone can point out how to fix these.
1. I somehow was able to get the home screen button (without an application) on my Note 3 to open google now with a single click (not a double).
Right now google now opens for me by holding the home button. I would like to get this back to being ONE click of the home button.
2. Any way to disable the vibrate on finger scanner unlock? I hate haptic feedback and have disabled it in all the normal places (sound, keyboard etc) - but I cannot figure out how to get rid of the small vibrate when it unlocks from a fingerprint scan (I don't think the S5 ever did this).
3. For some reason the 'Always on' google now feature is greyed out within the google now settings and says 'This feature currently unavailable for this language'. On the previous screen my language is set to 'Default language: English (US).
Any help would be appreciated.. overall I like the phone a lot. Quick charge, brighter screen and the QHD is very noticeable in certain situations.
*EDIT
Was able to solve #3 by deleting app data associated with google search and resetting up google now
**EDIT 2
Figured out that it was actually NOVA launcher that allowed me to do #1, so got that working now
Anyone been able to get rid of the vibrate with the finger scanner?
For #2.
Go to settings > Sounds > Vibration Intensity
Set Notification to lowest.

Disable Swipe Down Menu on Lockscreen

Is there a way to disable the swipe down menu on the lockscreen? The whole point of the phone being locked is so that I can only access the info/notifications.
Well if I can just swipe down while on the lockscreen and see the previewed text/who o missed a call from/email etc it kinda makes locking the phone pointless.
Any idea how to disable that feature? I feel like I'm just missing it but IDK?

I can still drag the pull down menu when the screen is locked.
Anyone can turn on/off Audio, Flashlight, Blue light filter, Do Not Disturb, Auto Rotate, Always On Display, Sync, Edge Lighting, Dolby Atmos, Night mode, Bixby Routines and Navigation bar settings. Either I am missing something or allowing anyone unfettered access to the settings on the locked screen is a new feature of the OS.
I want to completely disable/hide the pull down menu on the locked screen. If I need to do anything on the phone with the exception of making emergency calls and using the camera, I should first login with the pattern, fingerprint or facial recognition. A Samsung rep responded to a post similar to this on the Samsung community forum that only a third party app can completely disable that pull down menu. smh. I really hope someone here found a way to disable that menu.

HAS ANYONE FOUND OUT HOW TO DO THIS

Accidental touches

Hi,
I'm starting to get really frustrated with my S10! When I have it in my pocket it's registering touches even though I'm not even touching my pocket I have my phone in.
I just got back home from my local gym and while I was exercising it has sent a photo from my gallery to different people on Facebook, even people from other places in the world who is not on my friend list.
I have enabled the option in settings to avoid accidental touches and the increased sensibility option is disabled as well and so is the raise to wake option.
Any ideas on how to solve this?
Heya,
I think that's an issue with all Samsung devices running on Android 9. Its actually the Fingerprint icon and/or double tap to wake up feature.
Try doing the following :-
1> Go to Settings > Advanced Features > Motion and Gestures and then turn off "Double Tap to Wake".
2> Go to Settings > Biometrics and Security > Fingerprints then Turn off "Show icon when screen is off".
If that still doesn't works, go to the same settings page in Step 1, and turn off "Lift to Wake Up" too.
Let me know if it works out for you.
Regards,
Ankit S.

Themes / Apps / Mods [App] Fix of buggy proximity sensor - Locking screen from being pressed during phone call

Note: app compatible with any phone with 1080x2400 screen or lower. Probably higher too, try it. Also it's impossible to make such block when talking in messengers (more precisely, it's difficult). App won't work without gapps, rare case.
Instead of classic reliable optical sensor we have sucky ultrasonic one.
Sometimes it does not turn off the screen while phone call and something is pressed with ear or cheek up to dropping call.
Popular workaround is app "Call Proximity Sensor Fix" which automatically turns off the screen. Or you can press the power button immediately after the answer.
But IMHO this is inconvenient because if you need to look at something on the screen it will not turn on by itself which is so familiar.
My simple application makes screen insensitive to taps. And unlike analogs soft buttons and status bar are blocked too (but not gestures).
On screen will be translucent button that disables lock if you need to use the phone:
– Long tap on button - unlock (button will turn green)
– Short tap when unlocked - lock again
– Long tap when unlocked - remove button at all so as not to interfere with e.g. for entering text
When second call comes in screen will automatically unlock so you can easily answer or hang up. Then it blocks again.
When manually launching the application there will be a question whether to enable 4 seconds delay for an outgoing call. So you able to choose SIM card.
Made by powerful Tasker, the project was exported as standalone application via App Factory. Implemented via scenes with new full-screen blocking type.
Location of button adapted for default AOSP / Google Dialer. It can be misplaced for third-party dialers and / or interface scale. It's impossible to cover all possible variants. So if it really bothers you, install Tasker and project below. Then change coordinates of the buttons.
Installation
Follow manual carefully, otherwise nothing will work.
Application is safe and doesn't have internet access.
1. Download APK below this post
2. Install it via file manager and launch
3. Answer the question about delay, decision can be changed later by launching app again
4. Open Settings > Apps & Notifications > In-Call Screen Lock
5. In "Notifications" turn off them all completely, otherwise they will be annoy you
6. In "Permissions" enable everything: Contacts, Call List and Phone
7. MIUI: right there in application settings enable "Autostart"
8. MIUI: and in "Background" select "No restrictions"
9. Custom: Settings > Apps & Notifications > Advanced > Special app access > Battery optimization > All apps > In-Call Screen Lock > Don't optimize
10. Custom: Settings > Apps & Notifications > Advanced > Special app access > Display over other apps > In-Call Screen Lock > Allow display over other apps
11. MIUI: Settings > Privacy > Management > Special app access > Display over other apps > In-Call Screen Lock > Allow display over other apps
12. Settings > [MIUI: Advanced settings] > Accessibility > In-Call Screen Lock > enable "Use In-Call Screen Lock"
If you using Tasker
1. Download ZIP archive below this post
2. Extract file from it to phone/Tasker/projects
3. Tap on "House" icon at the bottom > Import Project > In-Call_Screen_Lock
4. If you don't need a delay on an outgoing call: delete / disable action #3 ("Wait") from the "In-Call Lock Start" task
5. Custom: Settings > Apps & Notifications > Advanced > Special app access > Display over other apps > Tasker > Allow display over other apps
6. MIUI: Settings > Privacy > Management > Special app access > Display over other apps > Tasker > Allow display over other apps
7. Settings > [MIUI: Advanced settings] > Accessibility > Tasker > enable "Use Tasker"
UPD: files updated, fixed small bug.

No.
Tested now on my RN10-pro... works just fine! Thank you!
Tested without gapps and it didn't work. I use the standard phone app from Arrow OS. I do all settings from your instruction.
There was no 4 seconds query of the sim card. The and no lock screen button.

Unfortunately, APK's exported by Tasker always have dependencies from GMS no matter actions it should perform. Sorry, I can't fix that.
I reinstal Arrow with Gapps and Install tasker. IT works great! Thx a lot! Now ist this Phone uesable.
Great application. Tested it via Tasker and works. Thank you so much!
Small question, if you do use the power button while in call to lock the screen and you unlock it again and then use your unlock button, it unlocks but the button disappears so you can't lock it again. How do I get the button back then?
Note: sensors are automatically calibrated and sometimes this creates a problem.
To cleanup and recalibrate the sensors, all you need to do is this:
Bash:
# dd if=/dev/block/by-name/persistbak of=/dev/block/by-name/persist conv=notrunc
For me that solved everything on official MIUI V13.0.12.0 (and previously on V12.5.9.0).

That's strange. I tested as you wrote and button visible, nothing in profile logic should block its appearing. I used clean Android 11 and AOSP dialer.
As possible workaround please test this: Tasker > tab "Scenes" > Lock On > tap on lock icon > tab "Long tap" > action "Show Scene" > tick "Block Overlay+"

That's legit for classic sensor, but I'm doubt, that ultrasonic store its calibration data there (if even have it). "Sensor" unreliable just by design.

Thanks for the information. Tested it and ticking the block overlay + fixes the issue. I guess it's because even though I'm able to tap the icon and other call icons the phone is still locked. I guess the overlay + makes sure that the lock off scene is still visible on the "lock" screen. I'm on Samsung One UI 4.1 with the native Google dialer.
Thanks for the help.

ultrasonic sensor can be even manually calibrated and the calibration is indeed stored and used.
Also: the ultrasonic sensor works in software, relying also on the position and angle of the phone.
If that measurement fails or is inaccurate, everything is ruined.
Trust me: try to do a fastboot flash of V13.0.12.0 then reset that partition as I said.
Then you can tell me if it improves or not.
For me now it works perfect both in DUO both in the stock dialer and messenger.
